I would use GB Weld then the wrap, if necessary. These past few days my brother noticed a louder exhaust. I haven't looked at it yet, but I will try a DIY fix. If it's beyond my skill set and requires a weld, I have no choice than to take in in to a muffler shop for welds or other repairs. I had to get a flex pipe welded on my car (7 welds). I just couldn't fix it. No room for one thing. And, as a dedicated DIY'ER, I realize my limitations.
That's good to know.. Don't think I'll get 5 years though.. The heat wrap will probably still be holding but the rest of the exhaust will have rusted out around it..
Hi I was wondering if the tape would help keep the pipe cooler? I'm installing a Diesel heater and my Auto part store told me this will work to keep Exhaust pip cooler.
If you're asking will the pipe be cooler to the touch after being wrapped I would say maybe a little cooler but not much.. Still hot but better than touching bare metal..
im watching after your 1st video on this product. your putting more on your car so is it safe to assume the first time you used it that it worked well?
Initially yes.. I believe it would hold.. But for how long?? Any movement between the two sections would work it loose over time I would think.. Or, it may last forever..
If I was you, I'd buy another length of wrap and continue to wrap the pipe where you left off. Eventually, the entire exhaust will have to be wrapped since steel like that turns to dust after 20 years.

Replace and weld in a new pipe/muffler. FiberFix is expensive garbage. Trust me, I have used it twice and it last days- not weeks or years. Spend money on a proper repair.
This is probably the best car repair video I’ve ever seen on RUclips, no nonsense. Well done.
It works. Used it on my 2014 Town & Country and couldn't be happier.

We actually used it on a Peterbilt truck exhaust about 5 years ago and it's still holding!

@@tongo117 lol yea, the stuff is a pretty tough.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
I doubt the pipe got up to full temp in 15 mins for curing. Might have been harder after more heat.
Aluminum foil tape from Menards. $3 Furnace cement $5

Yes.. I posted a follow up video of that first repair.. one year later.. ruclips.net/video/tm_3jreN6UY/видео.html
Is it possible to use only half of the fiberfix? I think about unwinding as much as I need at the moment.
I would think that would work, yes..
thanks!
You're welcome..
So what if.... I have to cut my exhaust in order to remove my headers. Will this stuff join an exhaust that been cut through with a saws-all?
