John Taylor's bass line in Rio is as good as anything you'll ever hear.
Agree that there is definitely a musical dark thread here (also present in co-writer Iggy Pop's version). The lyrics are also very uncomfortable, with (intentional) hints of misogyny and racism, to match. Thanks for picking up on those; too many seem to take it as a superficial pop song.
