I love my wilderness. Also love ford. But have found the subies just last longer.
What is the rand of that camera holder on top of the Wilderness you have? Been looking for reareview camera holder as well, but thought yours look cool
Awesome video, I just pre order my wilderness and coming in 2-3 mths
@@hadyriyanto8719 Nice, the wilderness is very nice! I'll ask my cousin what mount that was, it was his.
@@NorthShoreOverland Thank you :)
The station wagon is by far the most impressive vehicle in this exercise.
Pretty impressive show from the Outback imo. Especially with those tires, seemed like that was what was holding it back more than anything else. I bet with a set of snow or winter-rated ATs it would handle that trail with no problems at all.
You have to drive the Outback differently. Keep throttle pedal pressure and let the computer find traction. Most people instinctually lift off when there’s wheel spin but that’s opposite of what you should do. If there’s traction to be found the car will find it
Pretty impressive for the Wilderness considering it has stock tire
This was a good video! You guys had too much fun!
Glad you enjoyed it! You can never have "too much fun!"
One thing that I have admired on the Bronco that I wish the Outback had available is the 7 speed manual option with crawler gear. That would really make the outback even more capable.
OH man, with the low center of gravity, imagine how fun that would be in the snow!
Nice vid, man! Great content, as usual
Appreciate it!
Great story for today!! thank u guys i ll keep tune!!
Our pleasure!
It's all about Ground Clearance and the Right tires
Tires are so important. Makes the world of difference.
Hahahaha, Jessy and his sprawled out moment to help push the car away. Way too funny!! 😂 I'm still thoroughly impressed with that Subie, no doubt!
We gotta take that Bronco to some real fun and technical trails 😉
Haha I know right! Yes, soon enough!
How fun. Thanks for sharing.
Massive likes here on your beautiful channel. Thanks for sharing that snow scenery
Thank you very much!
Love your videos! Love seeing that bronco in action. One super tiny thing I'll say, I love hearing the crunching snow, the sound of your engine, and your dialogue way more than the music. This video without music would be perfect, or at least without music during times that you have audio available. Just my two cents though. Either way, I'll keep watching the vids. Keep it up!
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I know what you mean and I'm trying to find a balance. In this video it was really windy and the sound was muffled, so I decided on music. My last video I did without music. Thanks for watching!
@@NorthShoreOverland That totally makes sense. You're definitely doing awesome with your videos. Your channel is one of the first I look to for updates when I load RUclips.
Hey, scoring by Hans Zimmer isn't cheap!
@@jdr9861 haha
Nice video! The Subie is still a better looking car! ❤
I have a 2009 Forester with a 5 speed manual on General Grabber AT2's and it rocks in the snow!
Good to know! I'll pass the info on to Jesse.
Same here but 2011, 215/70r16 grabber ATX’s and ive yet to get it stuck off road
@@battlesship Nice. Those ATX's are a nice tire.
Where the Subaru was having the tough time making the corner, the snow reminds me of the temps just above freezing where it’s that wet watery type of snow but the temps are also just cold enough that it won’t slush up or melt. Always makes for a fun time getting traction
Oh for sure. There wasn't much traction that day!
Both vehicles did this test run with less than ideal tires. The Bronco ran mud tires which are okay, particularly in fresh snow. The Outback looked like it was running on all-season tires which is even more less than ideal. Impressive results none the less, however proper tires are everything even for 4x4's and all-wheel drive vehicles when you take them off-road. That also includes the smallest size wheels, and the most tire wall for a given tire size to allow room for airing down in mud, snow and sand conditions.
True. We should of aired down. Would of made a big difference. We are both new to this and learning everytime we go out!
Fun stuff. More of both please!
-Current Gen 5 Outback owner
-Current FJ Cruiser Owner
-Future Bronco Sasquatch owner.
Nice!
Nice!
and Nice!
And will do for sure!
When it comes to snow & ice on the highway & streets which vehicle do you feel in more control of? I have an FJ & the wife was debating getting a Outback for the midwest winters which we are both new to.
@@garrettsmith8286 I think the Outback would feel better on the snowy highway. Lower center of gravity with amazing all wheel drive. You'll feel glued to the highway. Keep the FJ for yourself for Offroading!
@@NorthShoreOverland Thanks that was what I figured. I use to own a 2004 Forester XT Limited and I miss it. It was fast with the regular auto trans and 2.5 Turbo.
eye opening vid! my choice has been made. thanks.
I like it very entertaining and fun Thanks to all.
Thank you! Lots more videos to come!
I love this! I have a 22 Outback Wilderness, stock, and hubby just bought a 22 Bronco Wildtrak 2 door! We plan on doing part of the Trans America Trails in the fall. Trying to sell my Shelby to free up money to outfit the Subie and Bronco. Awesome video!
i think the subaru is plently capable, just a different level compared to the Bronco. it's like comparing 2 professionals of different sports in my opinion.
Nailed it! here's someone who gets it. The VS was just in good fun. he's my best bud and we just went out to challenge him. Was a fun day.
Also. Trail turn assist!! You'll love it. Have one of your kids dig through the menu, you can shut off the alarm that goes off when backing up. :)
I've already hit a tree! I need that alarm haha. And I have a Manual, no trail turn assist.
Awesome, guys!!!
Thanks!! We had a blast
Have this exact Bronco and love it but used to own a stock Rubicon and let's just say there are levels to this...
I cant wait to buy my bronco
Go on and make a few more of these. It's fun to see
Working on it!
i think it wouldve been a little sketchier in the tight spots with a 5 door bronco. id love to try something like this with my forster, but offroad driving in germany is not allowed...
Nice ride !
Yeah, I can’t wait to get more snow now!
I want more!!!!
two VERY capable machines.. nice!
the bronco has a massive advantage for multiple reasons, but it would be amazing to own both.. the subaru for the whole family + overlanding, and the bronco for 2 people to enjoy harder off-road challenges
Definitely!
Or take 5 in the Bronco and not get stuck lol. Don't get me wrong I love Subies but after driving three of them don't count on them offroad.
@@ZepG depends what kinda off-road adventure you are looking for. I put about 500 miles off-road on my Subaru so far and it’s been great. Obviously not a rock crawler, but that’s also not what I’m looking for
@@MarksTech I'm not just talking about rock crawling, my biggest problem with Subies is the delay getting power to the wheels that need traction. I was just in Vermont in December and was driving my Inlaws 2019 Forester back to our rental cabin and just hitting a few patches of snow on a hill caused a lot of unnecessary wheel spin, My Fj Cruiser would have not even slipped. Subaru needs to have a locking diff option!
@@ZepG good point I would agree to disagree I have a 2005 legacy and do not have a problem with delay idk my grandma has a 2020 accent and it has the delay. Might just me subaru advancing. But Fjs are sick 🤙🏾
Nice video boys! looks like a good time. Not sure why I didn't get the invite with my Mitsubishi Mirage LOL
Ha! I'll send you the coordinates, let us know when you are there and we will meet you!
The Mule got some new boots! Looks good. Stock Badlands lift still?
It did! There's a 1" Rough Country level kit in the front.
Are the Geolander tires on the Subaru Outback Wilderness sufficient as winter snow tires then?
Nothing compares to actual winter tires. He is using them on the road and they seem "ok" but as you can see, they don't have the best traction in the snow. I think his plan is to only run them this winter and then either get winters or upgrade the tires.
What offset do u have for your bronco shells. They look really nice !
Thanks! They are 0mm offset. Makes the Tires stick out about an inch and a half.
I have question in normal winter like now is this wilderness stock tire ok with it I mean is it safe to drive in urban¿
It's doable, but he now has dedicated winter tires for it.
Yes it's all about tires. I have a 16' Outback with aggressive snow tires that are great in the winter for some light off-roading.
That's how real off roaders deal with obstacles
Where'd you get the Hans Zimmer music?
epidemic sounds. royalty free music. Good site if you make videos.
The only thing the Subaru needs is tires and a driver mod. Great demonstration of why tires matter!
He's got Blizzak winters now. May try it again!
That Subaru did great for having little more than street tires!
I know right? I didn't think he'd make it that far.
Subaru + Nokian winter tires = 🤯🤯🤯
That would be a killer combo!
Nice work!
Thanks!
My DIL has an outback . It's took a licking and kept on ticking . Seems to be holding up to her lol
The Subaru did better than I expected, but the bronco...didn't break a sweat.
I know right! Yes, this trip was more about the subaru. I keep telling him to put a little lift and some Toyo AT3's . Imagine what it could do with those!
@@NorthShoreOverland Yeah it would be a sweet set up, wouldn't be getting stuck on those stumps
The subaru did decent. Not near what most think this vehicle is capable of though. The brand has been over inflated for years now.
@@NorthShoreOverland he should lift the outback it would help significantly
@@NorthShoreOverland tell him to be careful with the outback that shit nearly crushed my soul with those close calls
Even if I ordered an Outback I'm very impressed with the Bronco.
Does the Subie have snow tires like the Bronco?
Bronco had Mud Terrain tires. Subie had all season All Terrains.
I'd be interested to see the Subaru with equivalent AT tires on it. I have a 2013 with winter tires all year, but they don't have the tread of AT tires, and they do slip on steep, uneven terrain.
Yes, a good set of Toyo AT3's would do him wonders!
Agree. Needs better tires. Subaru is allergic to giving quality tires.
Equivalent tires would not fit on this jeep without a major lift kit.
@@toadranger50 ain’t gotta be the same size. Just something that isn’t more or less an aggressive highway tire.
@@radzer0966 I get that, but even with the more aggressive tires it’s clearance and approach angles would never let it go where that Bronco could. Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice vehicle and good for what it’s supposed to do.
This was really just for amusing purposes anyway. :) The next time we get together I'm going to make sure and air down, have my traction boards readily accessible, and a few more tricks up my sleeve. Unfortunately, tires just aren't in the equation for now. Maybe next winter. I'm really not claiming the Baru can out off road the Bronco, I do enjoy pushing the Baru though especially in stock to see what it can and can't do (without wrecking it as it's our only daily driver at the moment) once we can get together more often we'll be sure to either talk a lot more smack about the other vehicles, or really focus on teamwork... Haven't decided yet. :) Also, you guys need to remember, Steph is the one editing all his videos with no input from me whats-so-ever so there is that bias point of view to consider. Haha!
100% Yes, was just for fun.... some are taking this as a serious comparison. I really do want to see you with a set of KO'2s or Toyo AT3's... and possibly a small lift in the future. We will be doing some trips together and with some teamwork, we will be able to go on many adventures for sure! I'll pull you when you get stuck and you can pull me to the next gas station!
That was a very entertaining video - Jesse, be honest there is NO way your Outback escaped without any scratches or rashes after that adventure!?
@@NorthShoreOverland Yup my buddy's outback on Ko2s and a small lift keeps up with my 4runner on (most) conditions. He obviously cant crawl nearly as well but the subarus are plenty capable! With ATs and a lift this outback would take this trail just as easy as your Bronco!
yay it didn't disappoint me! lol 😅 i just got me a forester wilderness today, will im actually picking it up tomorrow thank you for not tapping out lol btw first time watching your channel! im a new follower & subscriber! thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for watching! Enjoy your Wilderness! They are great vehicles!
Where in nb are you guys? I'm in fredericton with a lifted forester
Hey man! I'm in Bathurst and Jesse is in Moncton. I'm sure he'd love to hear how you lifted your Forester. Also, he goes to Fredy quite a bit. Hit us up on Instagram. @northshorebronco and @outback_wilderness22
I wonder how it’s gonna do with more aggressive tires
A lot better I'd say.
Does your cousin have all the bottom protective guards on the car? Or just the stock skid plate?
I'll ask him, not sure....
He says the Canadian Wilderness comes with extra protection from Factory.
@@NorthShoreOverland great, thanks for letting me know
Interesting here in US it's an extra 200 for each protective piece
The black cladding on the Outback definitely did it´s job there. Thanks for the vídeo. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching! Well be making more videos together in the future.
@@NorthShoreOverland I want to see a drag race between the two!
What one would you drive on the actual streets , where you will spend 90% of your time? Which one is a better road trip vehicle?
Bronco 100% Yes, harder on gas. But I just love it so much. If you only go by mileage and comfort, then buy an AWD Minivan.
Put same tire on a Subaru as on bronco and it won’t get stuck anywhere. I had a 2005 legacy and I once pulled a suburban on 20 degree hill in snow.
I'd love to see Toyo Mud Terrains on a subaru.... but I don't think they make that size....
It's more a driver and tire issue on the Outback side ;-) But after seeing this, I would really want a Bronco as it is must nicer imo than a Jeep or a 4Runner. Ford did a great job!
Indeed they did! I love it.
@@richg5113 I think it’s nicer than the current 4 runner. But the new one coming soon will beat it by far.
Bronco has tighter turning radius which defeats in that tight turn course. Subbie needs tires lift and a locker then its a fairer fight.
@@richg5113 the 4runner is a bit more reliable but that's all it has going for it.
Once he gets some snow rated a/t tires and maybe a small lift on the subi he will be in business.
Fires up the $3,000 4x4 work truck with the air bags disconnected, won't say hold my beer cause I'll definitely be holding it, however I may say watch this. I'll never sell it for that among other reasons. Can't wait to get a bronco. We need a lift and tire video, thing looks awesome now 🍻
Subarus do good in snow. Obviously ground clearance is an issue for serious off road use. They lose head gaskets around 100k. Notorious. But other than that there is not a more capable AWD car on the planet. I wish I trusted the ecoboost engine in the Bronco. But I don’t. What a cool rig. Being able to change quarter panels and grills, etc. That’s awesome!
Were those stock tires on the Bronco?
No, I upgraded to 35 Toyo MTs
Pretty hard core
Toyo AT III....yes.
What’s the offset on those wheels you have?
0mm Which pushes me out 1.5 " from stock rims.
Guess you should bring proper tyres for the Subi next time
Slubaru could use some traction boards next time 😅 Bronco didn’t even break a sweat 🤙🏼
Great point!
I thought the wilderness came with better tires than that. Is there a crappy tire option I’m not aware of?
They are an "Ok" tire. Good for on the highway and dirt roads. But not aggressive enough for in the woods in the snow. It would of helped if we would of aired him down tho.
@@NorthShoreOverland props to the guy who takes his new outback out and attempts this. it’s a shame Subaru doesn’t put a better tire on this car from the factory. I have a Toyo open country AT3’s on my outback and they’re a great tire for moderate off roading like this.
Get z-cables for the Subby!
Tuned in to watch the Subaru but wound up impressed with that Bronco and finally get to see it in 2 door model.
Thanks! Yea I love his Subaru but the Bronco is just in a totally different category. Both have their strengths. Make sure to subscribe, lots more content coming, and he'll be back with his subaru!
This is why the first thing I did was upgrade the tires of my obw
Good call! What did you go with for tires?
@@NorthShoreOverland toyo open country AT3s
@@danieljackson-woods6225 I'd say that's the absolute best tire you could put on an Outback! Great choice!
@@NorthShoreOverland I ran ko2s on my crosstrek but it always felt sluggish due to the weight of the tire
With the subaru u have to stay on the gas it's not like a 4x4 my subaru crosstrek would of went right through that but he did good I really like that 2 door bronco that thing is sick looking great video
Thank you! Unfortunately is was so tight between the trees it was hard for him to stay on the gas and let the Subaru do it's thing. His crap tires didn't help.
I like how your buddy thinks he can push off a tree sitting in a 4k lb car 😜 That Bronco sure looks sweet, but I really do love the Outback (I have an Onyx XT so I may be biased). Would love to see this test again with some meaty tires on the Subie.
Well he's moving closer soon! so more Subie Videos are in the works!
It is funny and he probably did not do much but... On my tacoma i can move it a pretty significant amount just by moving around quickly inside or bouncing.
I'm a Subaru guy. Also a Jeep guy, sold my TJ Rubicon to help pay for a Bronco. Super cool to see you guys out in the woods with a friendly rivalry. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks! Yes, I'm also a Jeep/Subaru/Ford guy haha. I've had two Wranglers and an Outback in the past. Loved them all. But this Bronco... Oh my. It's a different kinda love.
Enjoying my new 6spd Crosstrek but will never sell my locked 80 series. The new Broncos and such are good looking for sure but I’m completely content with reliability and capability of Land Cruiser
Most impressive thing is when homeboy walks over and pulls a 6’ log out of the frozen tundra with his bare hands
hahaha
Subaru needs the torq locker and air down.
That would be awesome!
“Epic Music Plays”
It doesn't hurt that the Bronco has monster snow tires !
I may or may not have put even bigger ones on since then..... and he kept the same size....
@@NorthShoreOverland very cool video !
Please do a re-run with better tires on the Subaru. Great video though 👍🏼.
And next time we will air him down too.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Subaru needs better tires and it will perform an entirely different way. That bronco was beautiful!!
People saying how capable is the Subaru off road .......hmmm comparing with a Toyota corolla? 😂... The guys are awesome though.. cheers have fun!!
Pretty much! haha. More adventures to come. Next we might do a Bronco Vs Subaru how far between gas stations video haha.
And the outback wilderness got front camera when you are driving offroad so you see what's ahead.
Yea it's nice! Bronco has it too.
Bald tires on the subaru?
No, just sub par "all terrains"
@@NorthShoreOverland Yeah, I thought the Subbie was looking a little extra sloppy there.
That Bronco is beautiful though and seems to handle those backwoods like a monster.
Great vid! 👍🏻
With a better driver and better tires that Outback would have cruised through that snow. All in all, really cool video! My wife and I picked up a 2022 Outback Wilderness and although we dont have snow in FL, its been a great car on the sandy beaches!
Yea man, my WRX with less ground clearance has gone through tougher conditions than these two are in…
are these new wheels? 35"?
Yep! 35 Toyo MT's!
@@NorthShoreOverland thanks, they look super nice! can you do a video of your new wheels too? thanks
Those GEO's are snow rated as I have them, there is no excuse for not airing down
Yea, it would of made a big difference. We are both new at this. Lessons learned.
I'll have to place this game with my Jeep and the wife's Forester. The trails are looking nice with the snow cover. You'll have to make a video during a nice snowfall.
Oh it's a fun game for sure! All in good fun. I was just saying today that I can't wait for a big snow fall! Might do some sleigh rides..... but with the bronco haha.
you got snow tyres on there?
We do not. Jesse did get some snow tires for the Subaru this winter tho.
Lucky he didn't break his arm!
Yes bronco is more capable but what is price difference
All depends on what you want! It's less than a tank!
The guy with the tactical pants always wins! Right?
Well of course! 😄
You really can"t compare the two without changing the Subarus tires it's the traction not the transmissions between these two
Oh yea for sure. I keep telling him to get new tires! This was just a fun day to get out and have some fun.
It’s way more than just tires, it’s about a locking transfer case with a low range the bronco has and the crossover doesn’t, and 2 selectable lockers on the bronco vs traction control that sucks… this terrain wasn’t really challenging… that’s why the crossover kept up.
Great video!
Just been looking for the new family car and I’ve landed on these two. The new bronco badlands Sas is pretty darn pricey more of a want, but that forester is like half the price and can almost do that course. Just a few after markets, lift, and tires it should do well out in almost majority of the challenges.
You really put him through the ringer. If he had better tires and maybe a lift he would be able to crush more. It’s just those tight turns where the bronco out shines Subaru
Family car... Yea, get the Subaru. Yea, with better tires he would of did it no problem. I can't believe the wilderness comes with those crappy tires. It's a great vehicle!
Put some All terrains on that sub I n it would do so much better
Agreed
To bad there is hold on all 2023 Subys, just cancelled my order.
Here in Canadá they salle that subaru like must capable off roading car Lol.
Well, it actually is the most capable "off-roading" "car". I'm in Canada also.. N.B
Unitl new mazda cx50 get in the market. Jajjaa lol
I think a lifted Crosstrek with AT tires would be a better match as it has a shorter wheel base. Still impressed with how far the Outback went though.
Oh for sure, I didn't think he'd get there!
nah the crosstrek has less power and overall doesnt quite have the offroad ability of the ob. The forester wilderness may be a bit better though.
@@jamespostle6894 My Crosstrek Outdoor has the same 2.5L engine as the Forester so power is not an issue. With X-Mode 2" lift and AT tires I've gone places I never thought I would be able to.
@@CoolPilot I guess I'll just have to see for myself. I have a 2.5 outback limited and my sister has a crosstrek so we'll just have to take em to the trails and compare. Not exactly the same comparison but would still be fun.
I’m a ford guy, but this wasn’t even close to an even comparison. I’m not sure some of the other commentators were watching. The jeep is ok for what it is but he would be stranded if he was alone.
haha, yea. From some of the comments some people didn't watch and just got defensive about their vehicles. This wasn't a real VS for the vehicles... but I didn't want to title it "Me making fun of my best friend as he tries to follow my lifted vehicle off road with sub par all terrain tires" It was a fun day in the woods, and that's all that counts.
When you still have to get the kids to school in the morning
And you don't need to stick to the road to get there!
Slap some BFG KO2 tires on that Outback and it would be a beast.
That's what I keep telling him!
Tires are a huge advantage for bronco. Obviously the bronco is more capable but is it worth what it gives up on the road? That’s the question I wonder. Tires and angles are big advantage for bronco
Oh for sure. I love his Outback. To me they are just completely different categories. This video was just a fun outing and challenge.
Just when your in the woods come hiway I'd take the Subaru for gas mileage any day
Subie did well!
