4K Japan Train - Osaka to Kyoto by JR Tokaido Train | Japanese Countryside

- Today I will take the train from Osaka station to Kyoto station.
I will take the JR Kyoto Line Train. The JR Kyoto Line is the name given to that part of the Tokaido Main Line that runs between Osaka Station and Kyoto Station.
This line is served by Local, Rapid and Special Rapid Services which are all covered by the same standard fare.
There are 16 stations along this line but only Local trains stop at all the stations. The Special Rapid is the swiftest and most convenient service because it stops at only Osaka, Shin-Osaka, Takatsuki and Kyoto.

Can you travel in the jr tokaido sanyo main line new rapid from kyoto to osaka via use of the JR PASS?? or do you need a separate ticket or reservation?
