The action of this knife is just amazing, I purchased a Star Strike thinking it would be one of my favorites but in the back of my mind I never thought it would become my absolute favorite. On Fridays I carry this beast and I lay it on my desk as I work, I cannot keep my eyes off of it. The way Todd has designed the epoxy to encase the LSCF makes owning a LSCF knife so much better, no more little pricklys to break off. Today I noticed the release of The Star Strike Glimpse and I picked one up, I am honestly scared. Scared that I may not be able to carry anything but a Begg knife
Of ALL rthe knives Ive seen you show, display/ review this is my favorite! I have a new grail! These are out there, just gotta be willing and able to Pay!! Ill be saving!! What a beauty!
Todd Begg is one of those guys that makes a perfect balance between tactical and artistic. Marfione custom try the same thing but can't get that perfect. Sick ass knife
Wow Jim. That's freaking stunning. I just recently got a cf Bodega and I thought it was off charts, but this knife. wow. Congrats on the score. personally I don't like it as much as the Bodega, only because I think the Bodega is on the thicker side.... so ya for that reason it doesn't appeal to me as much in that aspect. But really cool to see the handwork put into it... that cf and mirrored blade is just sick.
hey Jim, beautiful peice. do you think, with this kind knife coming to the market from Todd, that the price of the (let's say) run of the mill Bodega (as if) will decrease ?
Would it be possible in the future to do a review on a balisong? Something along the lines of a Patrick Famin, Chuck Graiditis customs? There really isn't that much out there covering balisongs so it'd be nice. The only custom I have is a Chris Olofson Raider 5" balisong (aka 29 Knives).
Jim - do you remember Brrr Buwaya? IMO the most beautiful knife ever made. I'd like to watch Brrr Wasabi review especially in his newest version. Please check Herman Knives project too. He is another great Polish knife-maker. He prefere elegant style, I hope you like it.
Woah there is a strange glitch at 0:51 super weird kinda looks like a blending modes - multiply error or something any ideas? Nice video man, another classic add to the vault of beautiful knifes.
Mordy Fisher if they took the final edge all the way back, it would hammer into the plunge. Without using a sharpening notch, this is how it needs to be done with such a deep and sweeping plunge. As to the backspacer, you're seeing the underside decoration coming around to the edge
When in the closed position the blade tip on Begg's knives bite you. For me that's a fatal flaw. The Backspacer doesn't shroud the blade tip sufficiently when closed.
Jim Skelton this is a 2k knife. as always you adapt the review according to which knife youre reviewing since you never really (want to) point out any real negative flaws. Ive seen you run the tip of your finger at the back on knifes stating "its a perfect fit, just barely not able to touch the tip of the blade". well, do that on this knife, youre going to touch that blade. its visually obvious.
No issue with it, I some times take these apart to see what the serial numbers are. Have had over 75 Begg Knives now, and have gotten quite proficient on tear down and reassembly.
$2000? Fuck no it ain't pretty enough. For that Price it isn't my cup of of tea. It looks gaudy and uses steel that doesn't qualify it for that price range by any stretch. You're welcome to your opinion, but anything over $800 Is too much. I paid $800 only once and it was for a Salem Straub custom in damasteel (looks great and has great real world practicality), he took champion on "forged in fire" and he's from my tiny little hometown in Washington. To be fair I also have a knife with buffalo bone and 24k gold handle, with meteorite steel Damascus that cost less than $500 and was made in Utah. So is it $2000 pretty? In my humble hard-working opinion... hell no.
cameron utt , take 40 hours to build a functioning work of master craftsmanship and tell me you wouldn't charge $1400. If you want something to just kick around for using out in the shop or a job site, then truck stops sell them 2 for $8. This will go in the pocket when I wear my nice clothes, rather than my Broelia I use for work. It's art in a form I can really appreciate.
Thomas Blackburn he just stated why this knife isnt really worth the money, according to him. he stated what he even _localy_ speaking can get for not 2k but 800$. why hes here? i bet he have an interest in knives. you are allowed to critique things you dont agree with. (i guess this channels viewers has a problem with that though since Jim never says anything really negative about anything). Act like an adult. bye
Dear God! Two in a row. Excellent pictures
far as midtechs go, this is the cream of the crop. looking forward to see what rolls out of your shop👊
I just got mine and it is incredible! Plus it has the cracked ice clip so that looks really nice! Thank you for the video, thats what made me buy it!

This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life.

Wow! That is a killer piece congrats!!
I hope I can make my knives as beautiful as those
Jim, now that you're back, you should do another "My favorite knives at the moment", since the last one was like 3 years ago. Cheers
Finally, an upload! As usual, great review.
thanks for the video work!
That is a beautiful knife.

I like the single flute on big red a heck of a lot more, it just looks smoother that way.
Duuuude! Thats so amazing!
it's nice what you can make with machines these days.
oh how i love to see new materials in the knife world, fucking beautiful Jim, i'm so jealous ! :P
It's marvelous!
Although there's no sharpening notch.
Hey Jim, is the star strike only possible with the epoxy layer?
Wow Jim. That's freaking stunning. I just recently got a cf Bodega and I thought it was off charts, but this knife. wow. i would like to see your collection and just drool over it
lions Tigers and Beggs oh my
hey Jim, beautiful peice. do you think, with this kind knife coming to the market from Todd, that the price of the (let's say) run of the mill Bodega (as if) will decrease ?
You laugh exactly like the merchant in Resident Evil 4 in this video specifically.
Yea I sold mine becuase of the backspacer could never be the knife I truly wanted and goddamn it was a great knife
Stunning knife Jim! Do you prefer it over the Frank Fischer’s Battle?
there's my dream knife!!!!
Love it, great review Jim. Question, don't you think begg doing all these low price mids lowers the value of these high end mids??
Would it be possible in the future to do a review on a balisong? Something along the lines of a Patrick Famin, Chuck Graiditis customs? There really isn't that much out there covering balisongs so it'd be nice. The only custom I have is a Chris Olofson Raider 5" balisong (aka 29 Knives).
You'd mentioned the plain pocket clip. There are some of these listed on ebay with the iced clips.
May be a weird comparison, but how do you rate a regular bodega vs your rockstead shin Jim?
Nick Thomas apples to oranges
i wish i could afford a todd begg

Wow... what a Beautiful KNIFE!!! I'm dead serious when I ask... can I please have it, you got plenty you won't miss it, Lol 😁
OMFGGGGGG!! just found my new grail!!! @_@
Woah there is a strange glitch at 0:51 super weird kinda looks like a blending modes - multiply error or something any ideas?
Nice video man, another classic add to the vault of beautiful knifes.
damn you are a lucky guy.
WoW!
why does the blade edge finish the way that it does? seems like over a quarter inch of unsharpened blade edge
also the front of the back spacer appears marred or unfinished
maybe it's just part of the cracked ice finish
Mordy Fisher I saw that too, seems kinda crappy for how much this cost

cameron williams nothing crappy about it, it's where the two surface decorations meet.
When in the closed position the blade tip on Begg's knives bite you. For me that's a fatal flaw. The Backspacer doesn't shroud the blade tip sufficiently when closed.
Peter Viceroy which model? I've never once owned not handled any Begg model where the tip protrudes from the frame.

Ohhhh....hello.
I just wish they were numbered 🙁
They are serial numbered on the inside, mine is #37. I know because I've already had it apart.
john smith Dude, was there an issue with it or were you just checking it out ?
Do you have a pic of the number on the inside ?
No issue with it, I some times take these apart to see what the serial numbers are. Have had over 75 Begg Knives now, and have gotten quite proficient on tear down and reassembly.
I have a complete set of mildly used chastity devices and a spyderco pm2 I'll trade you for it. Please respond, serious offer
I dont say this often...but i have to have that, still almost impossible...2000$+27% german taxes and illegal in germany to carry -.-
☝👏👏👏👏👍
peel the stickers of the camera lol
daddy like that

cameron utt , and if you can't give a fair appreciation for these knife makers and Jim, then why are you here?
