The ammunition one hears is exactly like a firefight with AK47s (I have loads of experience with this) using automatic. However the "crack" sounds are consistent with sound barrier being broken by the rounds which one only gets when the round exits the barrel upon firing. A round cooking off in a fire makes a flatter bang. There could be some distortion from the camera recording. Being burned up is not a nice way to go but all is fair in love and war and having initiated the conflict the russians must accept their dues.
It might have been a New Year's party again. New Year is bigger than Christmas in Russia and in previous years Ukraine has made a point of sending surprise fireworks to spice up these large gatherings of soldiers.
I'm very happy to hear of Ukrainian successes. But it saddens me to hear about the absolute waste of lives, even in Russia. When will Russians rebel and think of themselves instead of being sheep to the slaughter?
