My understanding is that the strike on Lgov was aimed at a command centre, from where the attack on the Kursk salient currently held by Ukraine, is co-ordinated - apparently, several senior ruzzian officers were taken out by these blasts - I also understood that Storm Shadow was reputed to be involved but maybe I'm wrong about that?

The RUclips channel "Reporting From Ukraine" made a video about this strike explaining that there was a drone recon mission which found the staging area for Russian troops which were being redirected to Kursk from Donetsk. There were 2 separate strikes that happened at very similar times, one here in Lgov, and the other was in Rylsk. Both missions were reported as being successful. Still no report from the Russians admitting number of casualties.

Kinda reminds me of a HIMARS strike 2 years or so ago. There was a building used both as barracks and ammo depot, Himars went in through the roof and turned that whole building into a crater. I think it was an especially successful strike, cause the commanding officer had all the soldiers show up to watch a speech by Putin.

  • @c.a.saunders2819
    @c.a.saunders2819 18 дней назад +23

HIMARS strikes happen for very important targets, and like you stated Suchomimus this one surely seemed important.
Whatever it was, the Ukrainian Armed Forces wanted it eliminated, and I'd say with 5 HIMARS spent they surely got that.
Your follow up as time rolls on should be interesting and informative. Data collection is the fruit that awaits always.
The strike itself bears the signature of success however. We'll await to hear more from you as we of course shall always do. Thanks again for your roving eyes, and your wide net.

The ammunition one hears is exactly like a firefight with AK47s (I have loads of experience with this) using automatic. However the "crack" sounds are consistent with sound barrier being broken by the rounds which one only gets when the round exits the barrel upon firing. A round cooking off in a fire makes a flatter bang. There could be some distortion from the camera recording. Being burned up is not a nice way to go but all is fair in love and war and having initiated the conflict the russians must accept their dues.

    • @czwarty7878

Lord Lucan. Maybe it was a typo, maybe you thought of someone else. In the last case, Lord Lucan attacked and unalived the babysitter, maybe thinking it was his wife. After conflicting reports he vanished but was spotted all over Europe

No, it'd have been the guards for the nuclear plant at the west end of the lake to the right. It's seriously important for the industry south of Moscow, including 20% of all Russian steel production.

Poorly ventilated underground bunkers, alcohol fumes and a source of combustion do not mix, apparently.

When the sound hits the camera it shakes the image.
Since it only took less than 2 seconds for the sound to arrive, the missile hit about 600 meters away.
That's damn close. I'd have a poopy pants if that happened to me.

Lord Lucan here. A funny thing happened on the way to the theatre. I was walking down the street in Kusk when a decoy Himars fell right in front of me. I think I saw that Suchomimus chap filming at the time but I doubt if he will show it ;)

Thank you, Suchomimus, for covering the Lgov strike. Too bad that some bigwigs had to be used as air defense. Interesting development.

Perhaps the supply situation for Ukraine is easing and there are plenty of missiles available. Adapting the F16 to launch Stormshadow should be simple enough...

Methinks HIMARS were more than happy to go out in a spectacular blaze of glory while simultaneously introducing themselves to the Russian Command Bunker and its high ranking military personnel.

Was it Himars or stormshadow? These seem to have to more bunker bustery effect of the latter. Unless these were the unitary ATACMS, seem a little hefty for simple GMLRS rockets. In my professional opinion
