Hi Joanne, Timo and Nemo. I’ve just stumbled upon your channel and found it a thoroughly entertaining experience. NV is an absolute weapon, I’m in awe of the work that she represents but totally see the rationale behind your choice of an open 60. My hat is off to you guys. She’s a labour of love, but what an amazing one. Ah well, back to the shed to get on with bottom prep for this season’s round the cans fun here in a thoroughly soggy Cornwall. Now subbed and HNY to you all! Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻
fitting in to that aft crawl space to install the rudder housing is wild. Combine that with climbing the rig like a pirate and the perfect dives, Timo is already my favorite sailor on the internets.
Only one word of advice. Timo, when using the sewing machine/walking foot, when sewing on those heavy fabrics, use a 4 mm length of stitch. It will be stronger and the fibers of the fabric will be lasting longer. The boat is FABULOUS!!!! Bravo a tutti! P.S. That poor phone didn't just bite the dust. It took a BIG gulp!! 😇🤣🤩
What a great boat/home/project/work of art. I really enjoyed this episode, loved the music and I'm in awe of Timo's endless talent for making and fixing. Cheers.
Joanne you do a marvellous job with these videos, managing to get one out in between the boat and family busyness. Timo is a very clever fellow, and a real character, but I'm afraid Nemo steals the show! Thank you!
Congratulations getting your renewed and further-customized ocean racing monohull sailboat onto the ocean again! Bon Voyage. Fair winds! - Don D. from central Phoenix Arizona USA
Saw you in Fiji, not long after the launch. Beautiful dream come true, hard earned! Congrats! Deep draft… but great sailing machine. What a lovely family you are! Glad to follow you.
Loved the fiddle music...Nemo trying to play along...Timo walking up the side of the mast...Nemo insisting on sitting close to the winch and getting bashed (gently) on the back of his head on every turn...Jo being careful not to pull his hand into the winch as he held onto the halyard while she cranked...But most of all, so happy to see you all sailing NV again. Hope you find another mainsail soon.
@@peterandersen8684 I respectfully disagree. I think Jo was watching him VERY carefully, and cranking the winch slowly. I doubt I could be that patient in that situation.
Hi Peter thanks for the comment. I understand your point of view (I expected to get some comments like yours). Had we been sailing with multiple people in the cockpit I would have done just as you said. However in this circumstance I was solely responsible for timo aloft and just wanted to avoid further issues. Had I scolded nemo he no doubt would have had a tantrum of some sort and I’d have had more to deal with and risked being distracted from my job with timo. Michael is right I was watching the situation very carefully and trying my best to manage everything smoothly
Great video and start to 2023. Such a hamper full of NV snippets and even showing some hidden musical talents. Thanks for everything Ian!! And for this nice comment :) and yeah you are spot on with the rudder thing, it was definitely the biggest hurdle to get us floating again. What does a boat like this feel like in heavy weather? Did you really want a boat like this or was the price the motivating factor?
From what we’ve experienced so far, she feels remarkably stable in heavy weather, and doesn’t roll half as much. The fact she can move faster in heavy weather also adds some safety to the situation as we can get out of the bad weather faster. No price wasn’t the motivating factor, but perhaps the reason we ended up with this race boat and not another to one more equipped is due to the price ;)
Soap the valve stem on your LP tanks also. And open the valve all the way and "snug" it open to help prevent leaks. Thanks for being here.

Would you carry the patched up sail as a spare once you get a new or newish one?

Now we wait for real sailing videos with this remarkable go-fast machine ... so watch out,,, most ppl doesn't follow you bcs they want to watch 15 min of baby video accompanied with some intense fiddle music.
I know what you mean, I was wondering about this yet the video has performed better than a lot of our others… I guess we have to find a way to mix in a bit of everything. But rest assured there will be plenty more “build” videos coming! Plus some real sailing once we really get going… need to invest in a drone at some point I suspect to really capture it well…
@@SailingNV Thx for answering - and good ones too. I'm really looking forward to see what the three of you will experience and show to the world. Inspiring. Sail on ...
Thanks :)
