Super Mario 64 DS is a remake of Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo DS, released in 2004 along with the system. It features improved graphics, new levels and playable characters, and most importantly in this case, a different "polish".
This TAS features no jumping (B Button) throughout the entire TAS. For more information on how this was achieved we recommend reading the Author's Submission Notes (tasvideos.org/6131S.html) on a breakdown of each stage.
Publisher's Note: Completing the game as Yoshi presents an issue as the player will die in the Rainbow Ride part of the credits and return to the Castle Grounds making the credits incomplete.

It's my favorite, I love all the new levels, stars, and Yoshi and Wario being playable!

I love the new textures, new levels, all the characters. But i feel like the original nailed the movement and controls so well. I wish this version had a way to have the same controls on an emulator or something

I love seeing how much Yoshi's involved in these SM64 DS runs! And I love that at the end when he beats Bowser, Yoshi's still able to jump and fly as Mario! I know the other characters will just freeze.

Such a lovely game! So many memories with the Action Replay. Sad those days are over...
When Mario was sliding on the trapdoor at 25:48 I was like "That doesn't look really fast, what is going-" And then I just watch mario's plummet on the bottom screen as he literally shifts away from the room with wide eyes. "HUH?!" ahaha, so great.

I like how this game starts out to get the player going is "Mario hasn't return yet" Knowing that hmm..am sure he didn't enter the castle alone.
Oooohh interesting. Just a little feedback, instead of blank black box in the upper right could we get something like button inputs? Reading the notes about the glitches was interesting but seeing the inputs for the "Jumpless kick" would be nice visualisation.
Considering that 2 things that don't exist in DeSmuME no.
The 2 Things:
1) A lua script that displays input better than DeSmuME's own doesn't exist to (unless I'm forgetting something).
2) A way to *dump* the lua to a video within the emulator and not external or using a capture program (yes there's MKDS TASes that exist that do dump it).
2b) Extra Effort that's for what I consider and a few others Encoders that do DS as nothing.
I'd argue for DS encodes less things on screen for RUclips is more.
Makes sense. Didn't know about that stuff.
for the jumpless kick: Simply you press A with slow speed while you're walking off a floor

With all seriousness though, has that something to do with frame perfect input? it looks as though mario had touched the lava but he suffered no damage nor knockback from it!
Similar in looks to the slide jump in the original for the N64. I might want to look into the invincibility frames
It is frame perfect and involves a slide action which has touched ground before the lava, but other than that I have no idea why it works. I just thought it would be cool to showcase

just wondering why do you need the 50 stars? isn't it 70 stars for the final level with Bowser and if thats the case why you collected so many stars? I know I am missing something here but I dont get it. Still an awesome TAS.
I believe you need 50 stars to access the endless staircase, but 70 to get past it.
It's 50 stars to access the Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride hub area, and 80 stars (70 stars in original SM64) to make the endless staircase not endless. While Mario can glitch past the 50-star door using a rabbit, Yoshi has no such option, so the 50 stars are necessary for Yoshi to get past. And, Mario can't just go to Bowser in the Sky himself, because I'm assuming there's no way for him to pass 52:43 without jumping (the glitches that made it possible in the original 64 version were probably patched/don't exist in the DS version).

I tried beating Bob-Omb Battlefield without pressing B once. I know I got stars 1-5 down, but I don’t know about the rest, including the 100-coin star.
Pannekoek2012: TTC 1 A press [TAS] uses cloning, custom HOLP, vertical speed conservation and bob omb clip resetting.

It wouldn't have been accepted if they was even one that took a minute to set up. So yeah it's pretty cool that we found how to avoid RNG manipulations and faster strats on the last level to avoid those type of timeloss
