Thanks for the great review. I think you left off the fact that the DJI OM 6 can accept counter weights if needed. It has a port that you screw them in and I think that will eliminate some of the balancing issues you had. I think portability is a good criteria to consider in future reviews. Also, if you are going to evaluate the apps that come with the gimbals, you should look at it from the perspective of people who would use them. I understand that you do not, but many people would use them and would like to know for the functions each supports does one work better than the other.
I just sent the OM 6 back; no matter how I tried I couldn't get it to easily shoot in the inverted mode. I'm taking a break from gimbal action for the moment but when I return the Zhiyun is definitely the choice. Thank you so much for the work and the terrific, to the point, presentation; much appreciated.

I watched more vids than I care to count and tried all the varying positions. This guy ruclips.net/video/TJq7wkHjNAg/видео.html summed up the OM6 much better than me but discussed exactly the problems I had. It's convenient as hell and the bells n' whistles are more evident than the Zhiyun but I had unresolved issues.

I'm a dumbass. I do believe the Zhiyun is much easier to manage all the way around and much more professional but it wasn't the DJI Osmo 6 fault.

I’ve been looking for a compacted gimbal to take on a vacation. I mean getting on an airplane with as little as possible. Though the OM6 is more compact, just didn’t like it in my hand. The 5S is the winner, just feels better. Thanks for a great review.
Went with the OM6 cuz it’s easy to set up, compact (you can stick it on your pocket when you’re moving around) and I use active track for situations when I’m by myself in the studio working. I have a gimbal for my actual camera if I need something more substantial. Thanks for the review!😊

Mate great video really informative. I am tossing up between the two to be honest and now after looking at your video possibly the Smooth 5S combo version. Do you know much about the capability issues with the Samsung S22 ultra on either of these devices? Happy for others who have had experience with the same phone to jump in.
Galaxy S22 Ultra is in the compatibility list of Smooth 5S. You know that Galaxy is not so friendly to the third part, it may need more patience when connecting the Bluetooth.
big question for big setups iPhone Pro Max with moment case, moment wide lens, filter adapter and vari nd filter? worst case with counterweights also when it can handle it without any hasle it could be the first real pro smartphone gimbal if not we need to wait longer 😕
Would welcome your insight/thought... Just bought the moment case with the variable ND filters/CineBloom (also thinking of purchasing the lens's) and would love to get a gimbal, either the DJI OM 6 or Smooth 5 or Smooth 5S. I'm thinking, after many hours of research to get the Smooth 5 so that I can lock the ISO etc and capture the motion blur either via the Zhiyun App or Filmic pro 7. Or is it best to get the Smooth 5S and use the Zhiyun app only? Any guidance would be super helpful!

Like the Zhiyun Smooth 5S here except for the issue of no port access for an external mic. I'd use a workaround though.
Mostly shoot landscape mode with an ND filter, so the DJI would work best for me, I believe. I also like the "selfie stick" feature. Once again, it's about personal preference.
At the moment, I imagine I'm more likely to film fairly simple Reels content. I'm not sure I'll do too much with extra lens (although I might use a light in case I want to film indoors). I'm not very experienced with gimbals so not sure if the best bet is to go with something potentially more user friendly like the OM6 or potentially the Zhiyun Smooth 4 (or is it outdated? I just borrowed a DJI Mobile 2 and can't figure it out at all!)
it seems nobody mentioned the unique convenience feature of DJI magnetic mount? in a typical family out trip casual video shooting scenario, and if the phone on Gimbal is the only owned phone, during the hours may need to detach the phone to check some social app's messages and other uses very often, and re-attach very fast when the next shooting moments appear, by this time watching in 2023, do you see any other Gimbal has the magnetic mount? that seems to be the killer feature for a family casual use-case? the other ones may be better for more professional shooting balancing with extra filters? and if you're using extra phone putting on the Gimbal for all day no worry to detach / re-attach
Another HUGE difference: changing from landscape to portrait is MANUAL on the 5S! Thats totally outdated. OM6 is WAY better in that. OM6 is worse only for down/up shooting.
Why does no one mention the fact that the DJI OM3, 4, 5 and 6 all have a jitter and you can only use them with phones with really good electronic or optical video stabilization. This is not a stable phone gimbal and no one is saying anything. I just sold mine because my A52 has awesome video quality but no IS in 4k. RUclips reviewers just lost my trust.
I don‘t think that‘s true to be honest. I 100% respect your comment, but I just don‘t have these issues. Maybe you haven‘t balanced it properly. That‘s the reason I didn‘t mention that.
@@smartphonefilmmakingpro It took 2 months of emails with DJI, countless coments to any and all platforms I could find, and many calls to all DJI OM6 retail stores and service centers that would answer. It was very frustrating getting told by every one that it shouldnt be like that and I thought I was going crazy. No RUclips videos showed this jitter.... Until finally a technician that has worked with DJI gimbals since the OM3 confirmed this was normal. That all DJI Om gimbals have a slight margin of error and jitter. They expect the phone to finish the stabilization.... I would be ok with this if they where clear about it and youtube reviewers at least warned people about it. But they dont, no one does. .. DJI also confirmed this when I confronted them about it. If you dont belive me, try the OM6 with a phone that has no video stabilization and just stand still. You should see the jitter after a minute or two. I have the smooth 4 and works as it should. So it was disappointing when I spent almost $200 for something so jittery.

Now I've changed my mind. I like the DJI OM 6 more in this case because of the extension rod and portability. It seems more lightweight to travel with and it comes in black which I prefer plus I can plug in my body mic for clearer speech and purchase a fill light for night scenes.

@Marisa Green Almost everything works in the apps. With the exclusion of 4k 60fps which i understand is an issue on the android systems side where they wont allow permissions. Also, you can switch modes with a button press. You can adjust left right balance for the physical phone easily and further than other gimbals. Though it does not fold down compact. The movement of all the axis is incredibly smooth, which is nice. One issue i have found is if you move in just the wrong angle the unit automatically rearranges the motors to swap from a landscape orientation to a potrait and back again and will even osccilate between these 2 modes indefinitely and there does not seem to be a way to turn this auto switch off currently. It can be annoying, as you can manually rotate the clamp to lock it in portrait, and that is what i would prefer to do. I wouldt be switching on the fly while recording.

I disagree regarding the payload. I use my OM6 with the Sandmarc Anamorphic lens, Sandmarc case AND their cloud filter and it works just fine…no shaking or struggles. Sounds like you have a defective unit
I always hope for more seriousness to start following you but you always send something VERY important to me: DJI's active track is infinitely superior, in addition to not asking for the face, the person can even turn away and he will continue following, is using Active Tracj 5, probably the same as the drone. And this is VERY cool for moving scenes, amazing for scenes where we have to follow a person or object, very important!!! Omitting this in the comparison puts the credibility, seriousness and impartiality of the channel in check when making comparisons.
thanks for your feedback - I am just not a fan of these automated tracking features as I am giving away 100% of the control and I am getting worse quality because of the compression of the Gimbal apps - if you feel that's the most important aspect, thats fine.

You forgot one of most important factor of gimbal is angle capability. Disappoint for OM6 that very limit on tilt angle. So I choose smooth 5s

I would not use the native app.. filmic pro, moment pro camera app, beastcam app, all of them are better in my opinion
I would look at the software reviews regarding the Zhiyun. The DJI software works great. I am actually returning my Smooth 5 it's so bad.

the smooth 4 is definitely outdated. Smooth 5 or 5s are great. Om6 is fine too, i personally just prefer the Zhiyun Gimbals

You can balance DJI but you have to buy weights separately.

I got a 5s and i returned because of the payload capacity, you can even use an iPhone pro max with lenses, sorry but no no no

I always hope for more seriousness to start following you but you always send something VERY important to me: DJI's active track is infinitely superior, in addition to not asking for the face, the person can even turn away and he will continue following, is using Active Tracj 5, probably the same as the drone. And this is VERY cool for moving scenes, amazing for scenes where we have to follow a person or object, very important!!! Omitting this in the comparison puts the credibility, seriousness and impartiality of the channel in check when making comparisons.
thanks for your feedback - I am just not a fan of these automated tracking features as I am giving away 100% of the control and I am getting worse quality because of the compression of the Gimbal apps - if you feel that's the most important aspect, thats fine.
The funniest part of all of this is the Smooth 5S is basically a copy original Osmo Mobile... Look at it again.

Seems like english isnt your native language. No offense but i lost count of how many times you said ''for me'' and ''personally'' and at some point i stopped the video. Try to find other phrases ta say throughout the video cuz people are getting tired. You dont have to say that this is your personal opinion the whole time. You can just say ''Also a really useful (or cool) feature is...''.
I said “for me” and “in my opinion” because the way on how I compare these gimbals is my personal opinion. It‘s not like the way on how to balance the smooth 5 is better for everyone, it‘s better for me. Thanks for the feedback

My problem is just the words. Keep doing great videos with less ''personally'' , ''in y opinion'' and ''for me''. (obviously just a suggestion. Who am i to judge you?)

I just changed my Zhiyun Q4 by DJI Osmo Mobile 6, Wow The improvement is impressive, in everything from the app, the quality of the video and the intuitive, even the material feels better.
