I've got the Alita strike wing escort in STO, an upgraded version of the Akira with a launch bay for fighters, it's really good. Photon PDS, the Quantum artillery console from the Terran Lexington, and phased quantums to strip shields...it has an enormous torpedo volley that eats hull like crazy

cool new AI, hut i think it needs some fine tuning perhaps to rise the threshold when to decide to ram. it made a mistake trying to ram instead to shoot and finish off the Defiant when the Akira was in great health and never firing again which is the ideal position for Defiant to utilize it's fast weapons when not in fire pressure. anyway i really enjoyed the new AI and i think there will be some interesting battles on the way
The Akira is an excellent T-Cruiser. Kind of Nebula with all the fat cut off which it makes it a superlative combat vessel in its role, but less useful as an explorer. I would imagine most Akiras are kept close to home as part of the Rapid Response Fleet.
In the Voyager episode A Message in a bottle, an Akira class intercepted the Prometheus, with two defiants, on the very edge of federation space. I think given their size the Akira class is still well equipped for long range missions.
Epic battle! Given how the Defiant reacted when you rammed it with the Enterprise-E, you should've slammed on the brakes and rammed into them. Call it an impulse malfunction when making an insurance claim (as long as you do it before the next episode, or the damage that would validate your claims would disappear). Also, If anyone makes a mod with the Texas class, how would a Defiant or two do against the USS Aledo?🤔🖖

It amazes me they were able to rename another defiant class the same name. Makes you wonder if they even covered up the fact the Defiant was destroyed for propaganda reasons..🖖
This is like if the two Defiants decided to open fire on the Akira while on route to the Prometheus in the Voyager episode “Message in a Bottle.” That would be an interesting side mission/story. The Akira (or the Defiants depending on which way you’re doing the battle from) is taken over by the Tal Shiar and used to delay StarFleet so the Prometheus can successfully escape to Romulan territory. Will you survive long enough to continue the chase for the Prometheus, or will the Romulans be victorious?
those are defiant class not defiants. a real defiant has ablative armor and quantums. 1 akira is not = too two defiants. maybe two defiant class, but not two defiant,
The Akira class was desinged to be a fast photn platform. I do believe that Starfleet Vulcan Admirals felt it was needed but decided to nerf it's effectiveness in their usual way. Granted they are cousins to my perfered people the Romulans and I feel thier hand in the design somewhere. Do not tell me that Vulcans are not dirty sneaky and underhanded when they want to be. A certain Vulcan listening post comes to mind that was used to spy on the Andorians.

With the Defiand you have to stay gos the bigger ship again it's closer up star ships Defiant it is fight closer up and stay on him. Move away and go other away and start on him move in and make sure there what fire on you
Looking at the title I was like "duh, of course they can", but yeah that's a beast of a ship. One of my favourite designs too. I do think targeting the warp core that first time was a misstep though. The top shield was weakest and the torpedo launchers are the biggest threat, and all crammed together in that pod. All worked out in the end though
Before you take command of U.S.S. Wylie Coyote tomorrow make sure you remove all ACME built components from the ship. Otherwise the battle most likely won't end well. Sorry to the Akira's designer, I couldn't resist.

a base akira should be about as powerful as the defiant with its ablative armor and quantums. but the dominion war refit of the akiras put it in a class above the defiant. but i wouldnt say its = two 2 defiants. by any means. and the akira is my favorite ship
To be honest the Akira class is more lethal than the Defiant class. In reality the Akira would likely win. The Akira not only has all those torpedo bays, but it's also equipped with hull armour, and has stronger shields than a Defiant class.
Sadly not. I'm just on the internal chipset. It's an Intel Extreme (I think). Bridge Commander remastered did recognise an older gaming pc's graphics card. It really dosen't like laptops. Some people have had success with something called "Dgvoodoo". It simulates an older graphics card. Doesn't work for me though.. 🖖

The AI blind firing was fantastic, very realistic I think.
The new AI has advanced to the point where it became suicidal due to realizing everyone and everything is pointless.

The new AI seems interesting in its aggressive approach but it was quite surely glitched at the end. maybe confused by the repeated cloaking.
If you can try to do Nemesis battle, and play as Scimitar against Enterprise E with this AI, it would be cool to see the E blindfire

That's one weakness the Akira has it can't fire torpedoes from underneath. It needs launchers on the bottom of the saucer.
