Girl you are so hard on yourself! We all have shame plants and that is what makes your channel so relatable. I have zero interest in seeing a cabinet full of rare exotics that I don't want and couldn't afford even if I did. I have a funny glasshouse made of plastic inside my house where I keep some jungle cacti because its warm and steamy and they love it. Buuut I also sprout my microgreens in there and use it as a hospice if the bathroom is too full. No such thing as a perfect plant parent. Love your videos

I found you earlier this week and even if it feels like you're always showing the difficult parts of being a plant parent, it honestly has made me feel SO much better about my journey as one and more confident to try new things when my plants aren't doing their best. Thank you for sharing!

I just told my husband the same thing when he asked me why I don't just get a grow tent to keep all my plants in. I know he lowkey doesn't love having plants all over the house, but I told him that I have plants coz seeing them all the time makes me happy. So, having them hidden in a tent doesn't help me. I do have an ikea greenhouse cabinet where I keep all my small hoyas. Why? Because I have a toddler who likes to pull leaves. 😅

yes!! i love seeing other people’s beautiful grow tent plants and greenhouse cabinets but they’re just not my thing...but maybe if there are tiny humans doing unauthorized pruning in my house someday i will have to change my mind 😆 thanks so much for watching Donya!! 🥰💜💜✨

I have cats that like to eat leaves 😂 so to protect them and my plants, I got a little 5ft tall indoor greenhouse. It actually helps me to see my smaller succulents because they’re all laid out nicely under the grow lights so I can just admire them every time I walk by, but I also love to have nice hanging plants too! They just have to be hanging from the ceiling so my kitties don’t get them 😂

Thank you for showing your little caodicks and plant mistakes and for being "real"! Also, great idea on the combining of the Monstera's! I have 2 big ones and four small. The four little ones I bought because they were on clearance (at separate times) for really cheep at Walmart. All needed desperately to be saved AND ALSO, a few even had moss poles in them. 😁 Now, I will be combining those four! What a good idea you had!

i love that you had a different experience with your greenhouse cabinet than I did! i love mine because it keeps my plants safe from my cats or for rooting propagations or to rehab unhappy plants. but then there's other plants that I don't like having in there because I want them out on my desk so I can look at them every day. Or I prefer how they look in a certain spot in my apartment! I'm kinda glad you said that because it made me remember that I don't need to stash away all of my plants in there! its ok to have them out in "less than ideal" conditions :)

I got a 5" tall monstera when I found out I was preggers with my first son. It has 5 vines in it and the longest leaves were 3" long.
It's been a year and I had to up pot twice. Both times there was LITERALLY no visible soil left. It had been so root bound I had to run a butter knife around the pot after letting it dehydrate. It was just unbelievable.
I didn't do anything to the root ball and gave it a 2" larger than 1".
I gave it lots of sun and when I went through PPD I don't think I watered it more than 3-5 times in a 6 month period. It's got some crispy edges from that episode but now it's around 3' tall and has inner fenestration. I think it's going to break the 4' mark by the end of next month.
I really think monstera if given the choice will want light over water. It had a spot in the corner of east/south windows and is currently putting out somewhere around two leaves a month now that she's getting consistent water.
My leaves never got stretched petioles like that.
I know they say it's a good low light plant, but I truthfully don't think that's right at all. If you look at pictures you can see them climbing up trees and walls where there's a clearing in front of them a lot of times.
These have been my personal findings. I have a 35+ year old vine that's currently fruiting indoors that just put out two new leaves. They're a tiny bit smaller than the old leaves but I think it's because energy is going to the fruit.
It's one of my favorite plants. I know it's super common but there really isn't anything else like it. It's just perfect to me. If I had to choose one plant it would be the monstera.
I might change my mind when I get my hands on a P. Maximum but who knows

that wayettii looks like it might be too wet. it's very easy to overwater after repotting, especially these plants. my wayettii looooves to dry out until it's just BONE dry
also, i can probably answer that speculation at 23:20 for you. you're right in assuming it's a growth hormone. nurseries use hormones that can either lengthen or shorten internode spaces. most often this is used to shorten them for bushier plants. the internode spaces get stunted, as do the petioles sometimes. it can also be used for growing cut flowers, though the long stems with single blooms are often also produced mechanically, by removing any side shoots the plant produces and forcing it to focus all its energy into the main stem and flower. this is used especially with chrysanthemums, as they grow very bushy if left to their natural growth pattern.
also! 24:05 when i worked at the nursery, we'd actually intentionally make little indents on the root ball to damage some of the roots when repotting. this encourages the roots to branch off instead of producing just one long root that would just end up winding in the bottom of the pot really quickly.

I have a similar pot of juvenile monstera cutting that I rooted and put into one larger pot...I keep them upright with a tomato plant hoop from the garden center. A lot less trouble than trying to stake all of the stems and their sprawling crazy is a bit more contained.

I’ve actually wanted a really tiny monstera bc I LOVE watching plants grow into bigger plants (even if it takes years, idc lol). But every time I go to a local plant store, they have giant monsteras😖

That’s weird about that Hoya wayetii, I had an australis that got the same funky stuff. The leaves would just shrivel up, and they even had the same strange markings as yours. I was fed up so I just tossed it 😪😩

I totally get the decision to toss it! I’m keeping mine socially distanced from all my other plants just in case it’s something weird...😖 thanks for watching Katie!!🥰💜✨
