That's so horrifying that Michael Jackson needed propofol to sleep. That's the most brutal "medical treatment" I've heard of. When you're under on propofol, you are basically dead, you need machines to do your breathing. It's a pretty important tool for surgery, but it's absolute madness to use it as a sleeping pill.
For fucks sake stop spreading lies and at least use google before you post nonsense. propofol is used in routine procedures like endoscopy and you don;t need machines to breathe for you. the drug has a rapidly short half life, meaning when it stops being administered, it takes minutes to wake up from it. they literally just let you sleep it off after the procedure for a few minutes.
Cole Knowles like I said MJ was using it for semi-sleep purposes. He needed shut eye although he wasn’t dreaming he was atleast relaxed. I don’t know what lie your talking about lmaoo
In my line of work as a pharmacist I work with both propofol and these so-called 'spikes'. Spikes are not only used for infusion pumps like this lawyer suggests, they can also be twisted onto the ends of syringes in order to draw out the necessary volume of pharmacon. We prefer spikes over needles for filling syringes as it makes counteracting for overpressure obsolete. If you have to prepare 20 syringes in a row, it makes it much more time-efficient and puts less strain on your hands.
Spikes are either non-vented or vented. A vented spike would allow the withdrawal of propofol with ease. A spike could either be attached to an IV drip or to a syringe -- there is no way to tell which way the propofol was infused just by looking at the vial alone. If there was an IV line with a spike with propofol residue in the line then you could make the assumption. Or a syringe with propofol residue in it.

@@teethgrinder83 Propofol doesn't actually induce sleep; the correct way to describe what it does is a reversible medication induced coma. The brain waves produced following anesthetic doses of propofol are very different than the waves during a natural sleep cycle. Nonbenzodiazepine drugs like zolpidem and eszopiclone are much much more appropriate for inducing a more "natural" sleep pattern. Even still, there are differences in the waves during sleep after administration.

He is the one, who worked out all the modells and the protocols every hospital, every anaesthesiologist use to administer propofol. He is himself an anesthesiologist. Nurses are NOT allowed to administer propofol. Not even doctors in general can administer propofol, it takes special training and licence. Dr. Shafer at the time was the top expert regarding propofol. His main job was to work out possible scenarios what could have Murray done, since Murray didn't take any notes of what he had given MJ.
@@richardkovacs2006not sure where you are from but nurses are definitely allowed to administer propofol via infusion for ventilated patients. And for moderate sedation under the supervision of an MD that is credentialed in some states.
Bending the needle, air into med bottle? That would cause medicine modifications. That large amount of medicine would require a large syringe to pull out without injecting air but then again , I think it would have to dilute it with nacl but never air ever air in bottle!
in order to get medicine out of these sterile bottles, you have to add a few cc's of air into the bottle to get the medication to draw into the syringe. if you don't add air, you won't be able to get much out of the bottle because the bottle is a vacuum. introducing air into the bottle will not cause any change in the medication before administering it to the patient.

In other words, the fact that the Propofol was taken away using a spike (and not a needle) proves that this couldn't have been done by Michael himself, right?
The problem with the theory is that when they tested the tube that left the bag going past the chamber that you would add the Propofol into and turn down into the vein, Propofol was only found from the needle addition port and then didn't the tube into the needle into the vein. No Propofol was found above the port to the bag. Meaning this bottle was not inserted into the bag and then mixed with the solution going down the tube into the body rather it was added further down the tube into the injection port and then into the body. Su this couldn't have been a drip in the bag as this doctor is stating. It wit have had been injected with a very large needle into the port. And I think the Dr testifying here is mistaking the large needle hole for a spike hole. Or the hole was made after. It's not physically possible that he missed the two liquids on top. He probably used a 21 or 23 gauge needle to pull the Propofol out considering how thick and milky it is. Even this guy testifying is having a tough time pulling the liquid out even AFTER he injected air into the bottle. He put 15cc of air into the bottle and still could barely pull 8cc out. When you put that much air into the bottle, you wouldn't even have to pull the plunger of the syringe, it would literally push thru by itself and push your plunger out for you. And there's no way that this bottle if at that much negative pressure that he had so much difficult time doing it.
A large needle wouldn't leave such a big mark in the rubber. That kind if rubber is not easy to leave marks on. Plus a 21 or a 23 G needle isn't big, at all. That would leave no mark.
