I might suggest two things: (1) thin out the grey primer a bit and be sure your brush is NOT saturated with the primer (it’s called “dry brush technique” for a reason), and (2) make a wash mixture of black latex paint and water-maybe a 1:6 ratio of paint to water-pour it in a misting bottle, and mist the pieces. The wash will run into the cracks and crevices (accenting them) and take down the intensity of any primer areas which are overly prominent. And because it’s water and should be runny, it will mimic the natural weathering that would occur on such outdoor sculptures. Note: you may have to do 2-6 misting sessions in order to get the look you want. Check out either Derek Young’s “Van Oaks Props” or Chris & Jeana’s “Hollywood Haunter” RUclips channels for tips on using washes to age props. Nice work, Glen! Those are truly imposing pieces. And just an idea: put a fog machine in your pillars so it can spill out between those gaps you were going to fill with Great Stuff. Problem solved! Happy Haunting this year!
@HMFan2010 thank you so much!! Love these different approaches. I always wanted to try and make some of the paint run to weather, then a bit. I'm a novice at best and try my hand in doing things I have never done before. That's what makes it fun. Love all the channels you mentioned. I already follow them on the dailey as well. Thanks again for the tips, and I will definitely start to apply them. Appreciate the love and the support ❤️ happy haunting season!
These turned out so wickedly cool! Because of your video we decided to get 2 and paint them. My husband wasn’t interested in them because of the original color but you changed his mind 😁 Thanks for the video!
These are the best prop available this year! Worth every penny! Anthrax is the soundtrack for paintjobs! Love the graphics way better than the o.e. tan!
Great job there!. I was in Home Depot 2 days ago and I saw them on a shelf way up high. To my surprise they got them down for me and I bought. Certainly your work has enhanced them greatly, but honestly at $99 I think it's a steal. Even if you can't retouch them up. They look pretty dang good straight out of the box. Great video! Thanks!.
That's hot! We were able to pick up 3 of them. We actually had to drive to upstate NY ( 7 hour round trip ) to get the last 2. All of the home depots in Eastern PA only had displays left. This was last week. The Friday after the Monday when the halloween products were officially for sale. Very nice job on them.
@kstofkos thank you I knew these things would be impossible to get that's why before they displayed them, I waited until I daw them on the top shelves. Bravo to 3 of them!!!
@TheHeadman sure don't lol I know the wings are not all that secure to begin with. But once they are in, I feel like they are snug enough. I feel in time, though this may be an issue. Good luck with the paint job!
Nicely done. We saw them at Home Depot and thought about it. We ended up choosing the plague doctor animatronic for our cemetery, but if the gargoyles are there next year I think we'll have to pull the trigger.
@casperthegm741 Thank you for the kind words and the support of my channel! They are totally cool, so I'm so glad I got them now. The real fun begins, where the hell am I going to put them lol
Gorgeous repaint!! I love them!! 🧡🖤🧡. When I do craft or decorate for Halloween I listen to scary podcasts or audiobooks mostly and sometimes my Halloween music. 👻🎃🪦🧡🖤🧡
Where did you buy the pillars? Or did you make them? If so, how did you make them? And if bought, did they come with the lantern lights as part of the product??? Thank you for making an awesome and creative video!
@stevetrump7399 I had someone make these for the price i couldn't pass them up. Thank you so much for watching and the kind support. Thanks for commenting as well.
@@roosevelthillscemetery Excellent! Have a very happy (and super spooky) Halloween! I just bought one of those Gargoyles myself. My plan is simple because I'm just getting settled in to a new house. I figure to put it on my sloped roof (no chance of FBI) and put some malleable heavy bag of whatever, under it to level it and keep it stable for a few nights. Then try to light it up with a worklight and red bulb (maybe a red floodlight bulb, but probably not). Still trying to figure out how to hide the worklight (clamp lamp) yet maintain direct light on the Gargoyle.

Thanks for the video. You read my mind😅..I had the same idea 💡 to paint them over. Your “Killer Pillars☠️” Look 👀 Amazing 🤩!!
Looks great … we’re doing ours this weekend. Have you figured out a way to remove the wings without breaking the inside clip off?

I’ve never tried that primer- but the result looks great!! And “brusha brusha brusha, brush with new Ipana” is from the Ipana toothpaste commercial.😂
