- In todays video we see lots of yard movements, several neat hoppers, and even a few IPD boxcars. Then we visit Galesburg's locomotive shops and a storage track where we see engines of all kinds.

Maybe I have to save money
11:06 YOU CAUGHT MY FAVORITE! That engine used to come around here in MN all the time before getting sent down to Galesburg. I'm so happy to see it's still in its original BN green! I was worried it would be orange now 😂 So happy to see its still in working operation & in BN green. Now send it back my way, I need to get some more shots of that!
Glad I was able to bring you some peace of mind! lol I'm sure it'll find its way back to MN one of these days.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan I can only hope I guess
@@BNSF1458BNSF 1458!!!
You must have been up right around labor day, with that 1458 sitting on the material shop lead.
BNSF has quite a few Tier 4 EVO's - all the 36, 37, 38, and 3900's are Tier 4's. The blue GECX units were the original demo/test units that the were used to demo the Tier 4's, the better part of a decade ago now. Those GECX Tier 4's are now used by the CN.
Yes, I was filming this video just last week actually. See I knew that BNSF has ES44AC's, but that GECX demonstrator engine is an ET44AC. I didn't know that the ET44 was the predecessor to the ES44. I thought it was an innovation on the previous models. Either way, thank you for letting me know. I'll watch out for these engines if I ever railfan on CN tracks someday.
Glad to see that line of good power you caught! Really is surprising they still have that old GP9 sitting around.
Not to mention that plow machine that’s almost 73! BNSF has at least 2 more of those things that likely have interesting history.
Yeah, I also can't believe BNSF is still holding on to a GP-9. I think that snowplow is called a Jordan Spreader, do you know where the other two snowplows are?
Well I know one is numbered 972554, but I can’t remember the number for the other one. I have no idea where they’re at.
It hurts seeing the BN SD60M in Galesburg. Not too long ago, 1458 was based in Northtown yard up here in Minneapolis. I caught it leading multiple times. When it was sent off to Galesburg I was pretty sad.
I live in Springfield Missouri so I see bnsf trains only so I am happy to see new things from this😀😄😁😆😁😄🙂🙂
I live in Springfield too! Hello fello springfieldian
Hey what trains do you see I live on the east side btw
@@aliciaw4407 I usually go to the yard area and railfan so a lot of BNSF lol 😂
Csx ns BNSF cn Iowa interstate
I think the Amtrak train to Quincy, IL, is the Carl Sandberg. Enjoy your videos so thanks for your time and strong 💪 efforts. 👍
I’ve heard it called the Carl Sandburg but I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the confirmation. I’m glad you enjoy my videos!
I saw my first BNSF Cascade Green in Abilene, Kansas and the number was 1446 and it was a SD 60 M and the
lead engine was a - 8 number of 532 and two SD 40-2s
Wow, that’s an awesome lashup!
A Lot of Power Moves takes place because Units start stacking up in Yards where they’re not needed. Thanks! 👍
hi! if you want some good BNFS and upac you need to head towards Kansas City plus you can lot of foreign power there as well! CN mex KCSR
Ok! I might have to plan a trip there someday.
3934 in the power move you caught is a T4 GEVO. They were released in 2015 i believe so im surprised the demonstrator is not patched or back at its home.
Great catches from the locomotives to the freight cars. Great commentary and compellation video. We enjoyed watching and have a great upcoming weekend.
Thank you very much! You have a great weekend yourself.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan Your welcome and thanks also.
Always Great to see the Fallen Flag Railroad Cars and especially those in Great looking condition. 👍🙏
For sure!
Gosh! Your videos always amaze me with their variety of locomotives and rolling stock, aided in part by your willingness and readiness to change venue all over creation! Kudos sir.
How do you know and spiel off the model numbers of every locomotive in your videos? Are the ‘roads loco rosters accessible by the public on the web?
Sure hope you can find time to respond.
Gord, Winnipeg MB
Thank you so much! I know the locomotive models though experience, reading the fame of the locomotive (which is usually where the model's listed) and Google. Yes, locomotive rosters are public knowledge. You can find them pretty easily.
Those RBMN hoppers are local to me out of Taylor Yard in PA. Thanks for the great videos.
That’s cool! You’re welcome!
I love going to galesburg too bad the bridge over the yard is out currently for this railroad days
I love these fallen flag vids! also your voice is so satisfying.
BNSF has a few hundred Tier 4’s. If you go to the Transcon, you can probably catch a few. I’m almost certain that the GECX unit was there because CN has been using those and the Citirail ES44’s that BNSF used to use.
where is that?
@@achannelaboutplayinggamesa2025 the southern transcon is a stretch of track that runs from Southern California to Chicago. it’s extremely busy
While trains are neat, I'm sorry you had to be in Illinois for this
Lol
Nice catch with the 1458. I wonder what those little stickers on the front, on either side of the logo are. I don't remember those being on the unit when it was up in MN for a while.
The stickers say "Smart Start Equipped" its got something to do with the starting sequence on the locomotives prime mover.
ive only seen one Tier 4 on an idle train
edit: on that BNSF snow plow on 11:20 , do you know why it says LUB?
I think that LUB is a spot for keeping track of when the car's moving parts were lubricated last. It's like writing down when your last oil change was in your car.
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan ohh ok i thought that was the build location
524 would still be used in regular light service but the engine has been condemned, they are going to scrap is rather than repair it
Dang, that sucks. Do you know why it was condemned?
@@Southern_Plains_Railfan ran with out water for couple of hours
@@Reece56139 yikes. Yeah, there ain’t no coming back from that.
How did you get in the yard?
I didn’t. There’s an access road that parallels the entire yard. I stayed on that.
I'm trying to find out more about the reading, and northern, but all that pops up is the reading, and blue mountain.
