I've been using a GTX 1070 for about 2 years in my old Optiplex 3020, with an i7 4790 and 16gb ram, and it's been surprisingly capable. Admittedly it's mainly used for emulation, but with lower settings, it's been very capable with relatively modern titles.
x2 I also have my i7- 4790 from about 6 years ago but with 32 gigs of ram for most recent titles and with the RTX 3060ti there is a slight bottle neck but nothing much to worry about with ssds as storage xD
Also using a gtx1070 OC edition paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x. Playes newer games with no issues.Jedi Surviver Solid 60fps Medium to High settings 1080p. Starfeild 50-60fps medium settings 1080p. Using FSR on both titles though. Halo Infinite. 60fps 1080p
What cooler are you using? I’m worried about cooling a 4790 with the stock cooler and am considering the 4790s because of it. Have you had issues with it?
Good video. Just a reminder that AMPS on the 12v rail are just as important as Watts for a psu. You are right at the limit with a gtx 1070 on that psu.
most 1070s and 1080s use a single 8pin plug, pickup one of those to make it easier, in that cluster of tier of cards you also got vega 56 , 5600 xt, 1660ti 2060, 3050 8gb, and of course you got slower cards as well, for faster u can go 3060 or 6600 but more than that performance will start to taper off, have a good weekend everyone =)
Great video! I have an HP envy FX to see how it does. I’d recommend getting a mouse. They have silent, click mouses so if you’re using it for editing, you won’t hear the clicking in your background audio other than that great video.
I keep building newer, and newer gaming PCs for customers, but the little secret is I have an EVGA GTX 1070 in my personal rig. Why? because, at 1080p 60 Hz, I haven't played anything that needed more just yet.
🙂 neat haswell oem pc with a decent power supply and 120mm coolermaster liquid cooler clone, i just looked at ebay motherboards and it looks pretty much standar MATX layout so you can transplant it into a modern case
1070/1080's are bargains! got a 1080 for £70 recently - $90US - and they're only getting cheaper. Pretty power hungry though, some of them pull as much as 275W.
In my local marketplace the 1070 is still overpriced ($150 to $200+) with sellers being delusional about their value however the 1660 Super & Ti cards (which are on par with the 1070) are selling for the same price you got your 1070 in my area.

i too also have a gtx 1070 made by evga paired with a core i7 8700 and 16gb ram. and it sure can play modern titles.

@@zacclark8444 I've just been using the stock cooler. Being a standard 4790, and not the K variant, it only has the same power draw as the i5.

great video. i love to see outdated/disused computers get given a new lease of life
Yes.
A 4770 is perfectly fine for most computer tasks. For gaming, video editing, mathematical simulations and AI, you want something faster.

Yay! I just got my first GTX1070 and am very pleased. Got it for $50.
@RobertFixit That's a great deal you got.
@@basicdadtech Now it’s gone sold for $100 LOL (back to the drawing board)
Also have a GTX 1070 bought from eBay $91 paired with a Ryzen 7 3700x plays newer titles just fine. Entire system built from used second hand parts.😊
The 1070 definitely impressed me.
I have a xeon processor with 4 cores and 8 threads and i upgradefrom a tgx 970 to a gtx 1070, top...
Have a 1070 picked up last year, they are actually cheaper now. Think it would pair well with a few of my older systems.
