Looks delicious, are you able to cover the jars?

Since I over-stuffed the jars for the sake of the video, I just covered the tops in plastic wrap, but yes, you can cover them with lids. Just add on the cookies/candies/filling topping when you're ready to serve the jars. ✨

I've always wanted to make "cake in a jar" but kept putting it off. I'm glad I finally gave it a try. I bet your aunt made some really good cake in a jars!

Could a pineapple upside down cake be made?

Yes! However, you'll want to make your pineapple upside down cake as you would normally do, then transfer it to a cake jar. You do not want to bake using the canning jars as the glass is not tempered to withstand oven temperatures and will likely explode. Once your cake is baked, you can use a circular cookie cutter or biscuit cutter, roughly close to the same size of the canning jar and cut your layers that way. Great way to share your cake on the go!
