When a constant hitting to the body, the body sense the pain. To protect the body from fracture, the body will sends more calcium to the bone at that particular area. Hence the bone will be more hard and strong at that area. Also, it makes the sensors/receptors at that area not so sensitive. Hence less pain will be felt. All of this benefit comes from a long time of practice.

S**t! The condition of his hands and feet would make a GP s**t themselves. Its only because of his life training that he's probably able to live without joint issues. I'm in my 40's and when I punch these days I can feel the shock and pain go all the way into my wrists and forearms, it just goes to show the life time of dedication that these guys go through to continue making progress in fighting even in the later stages of their lives. Nothing but appreciation, admiration and awe for these people.

These videos have convinced me that I am going to Okinawa for a year to study karate. I had a few neighbors growing up who had been stationed there and did traditional Okinawan Karate and talked about the training... and now I understand. once you start training like this you cannot ever stop because the arthritis will get you bad. If you keep stressing to the joints every day, then it is a form of invigorating technic to continue to bring blood flow to the already injured joints. If you stop wacking them, you do not get the movement in there necessary to keep the pain away. Know this is a lifetime commitment otherwise you will suffer greatly in your old age.

That lower blocking looks a little sketchy, but if it's done with movement, okay. Nice ball stomp though.

2:00 did this years ago when I tried goju ryu.
I was the only one covered in bruises.
Eventually I just couldn't keep up with it.

I wonder whether these conditioning practices will cause other health problems when they get old, i.e. arthritis or joint pains

Bare knucle callus actually makes the bone more brittle (losing flexibility, exchanging collagen for calcium), having pros and cons in this technique (generally health problems such as arthritis in aging), which is why you will never see it applied in real fights like the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), that is, it is another technique that is a little dysfunctional in real fights. A judo person would easily win a fight between the styles. And boxing has much more effective punches.

I need some advice here and have been curious about this style because of the body conditioning.. Which other karate style has emphasis on conditioning? I guess it depends on the school but does Shotokan, Gojo ryu and Shito ryu have conditioning?
I studies shukokai karate a long ago and it was very much sport oriented and no body conditioning. It didn't even have a punching bag...

Every style you named uses these or some analogy of these kinds of conditioning techniques. They're all stellar tbh
