  • I recently decided to embark on a simple MCP panel to use when flying. This may or may not develop into a full blown King Air home cockpit.
More progress now with a multiplexer working!

Hi there, I am running X-Plane 11 and MSFS2020 and have long been thinking about setting up hardware to operate some of the simulator controls. I have therefore since purchased an Elegoo Complete Starter kit with an Arduino Uno board and have also just ordered a Mega2560 board to go with the kit. My question is though, once you have created your wiring circuits, are you having to write sketch code in Arduino IDE as well, or is the sim interface all through SimVim? Regards from Bedford, UK

Simvim flashes the arduino the first time so you don’t have to write any sketch code. It’s all taken care of for you my simvim. Same with AirManager except in that case you’re writing LUA in AirManager. Good luck!

Many thanks for your speedy reply, appreciated! I've only just realised yesterday that I need a Mega2560 board for SimVim to work, which I have now ordered. My kit came with an Uno. One further question then, once SimVim has flashed the Mega2560, can the latter only be used for SimVim purposes going forward? Kind regards and thanks again, Paul :-)

@@funofflying15 right, AirManager can do pretty much any board but simvim is the mega. And you can put it back yes should you ever need to

@@funofflying15 Also be aware SimVim only works with X-Plane, you will not be able to use your home cockpit with FS2020 but hopefully in the future it will.

    hi!
What is the best resistance for potentiometers in simvim?

    • @expataviator7107

I used a 10 ohm but it doesn’t really matter given you’re using it just to split the voltage

Hi! Thanks for this video. I'm running into an issue and struggle to find a solution. I connected two rotary switches to a multiplexer. The first one takes the pins 0 tot 3 on the multiplexer as my engine #1 starter switch (for the Zibo B738), the second one the pins 4 tot 7 for the engine #2 starter switch. The issue is that my first physical switch moves, in the simulator, both the engine #1 and engine #2 starter switches. I've checked and checked and checked the wiring, all looks fine and according to the schematics on the SimVim website. Would you please have any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks in advance!

Hey! Have you tried posting on the simvim support forum on their website? I don’t know how the code inside simvim works so not sure how to help. That way also you can post some pictures to help us understand :)

ps i since moved to Air Manager so I can write my own code and have more control

@@expataviator7107 Hi and thanks for your answer! The thing is, Simvim isn't accepting any new registrations on their forums unfortunately. But thanks anyway!

@@expataviator7107 Hi, thanks! I found someone else having the same issue. This person found out his Arduino S1 bus was faulty. I'm going to check that too from my side first before asking for additional help. :-)
