Across Europe there is dissatisfaction. Germany, France and Italy have no growth Leaving may have no benefits, but until there is reform within EU staying out is not worse than being a member. Look at Scholtz and Macron, they are despised as much as Starmer. If AFD do better than expected, then Netherlands, Austria, will have governments that many on the remain side would consider unpalatable.

It has to be that the people who were the most ardent advocates for Brexit stood to gain massively in some way, form, or other from the UK exiting the EU, and in doing so, they showed that they only did it for themselves and didn't care for one second what the impact would be on the average person because as James often says, what else could be the reason why anyone would knowingly choose to impose economic sanctions upon themselves. There obviously was a selfish reason and if the British people were clever enough, they should massively scrutinise and put under the spotlight, all those politicians that pushed for Brexit and examine precisely what they stood to gain either politically, financially and otherwise.

I've only listened to 50 mins so far, but those who voted for Brexit can be summed up with the vote in N.I. The DUP were taken in by the propaganda by Johnson et al, and believed the North would be stronger in a Brexit Britain. While majority of Nationalists voted in favour of remaining in EU, which may have hindered/delayed the possibility of a United Ireland. N.I. ended up voting in favour of staying in EU (alongside Scotland) but got the Brexit the DUP wanted. The DUP are the equivalent of everyone who voted for Brexit in the UK.

Which have made British exports more
      expensive.
Added costs have pushed small businesses into bankruptcy, with loss of European customers who found cheaper goods in Europe.

Voted out at the election, was a leading tory brexiteer, but moved his investment company to Southern Ireland, which is still in the European Union.
So his company benefitted from being in Europe, while condemning British companies to third country status.
He also earned at least six million betting against the destabilised pound during brexit, as did most brexiteer donors, who nearly all happened to be hedge fund managers.
The five richest men in uk, funded brexit parties with 24m.

In fairness to Andrea, she only said the uk would still be able to trade tariff free, which was possible, and is where things ended up. Andrew was fixating on the same access, but Andrea wasn't suggesting that. What Andrea was in actuality demonstrating was her breathtaking ignorance of international trade. The non tariff barriers are more costly and damaging to businesses than duty. The common external tariff is for most commodities less than 5% so was never that big a barrier. Customs formalities and the vat border have been the biggest barrier to trade and won't disappear without membership of the single market. A customs union will improve things but only marginally.

You seem to wear some of your tin foil hats yourself. Do they fit well ? And how do you feed your unicorns ? Brexshit ?
But I am interested in that acient UFO. Sounds like a decent bargain compared to the billions the UK has lost so far. 😁

I do now that the Netherlands is far from great, but if I listen to James o Brien I have a feeling that England is a third world country, which its not. Nothing will change in the UK as long as there are private schools peerage titels given to your mates, a pension scheme for friends called the house of lords. The most expensive monarchy in Europe. Britain needs a land reform as well. I could go on .

Brit Monarchy charges Rent for NHS to operate hospitals on its land.
And the newspapers lap up the monarchy.
