Wow...only just "discovered" you a couple of days ago. Such talent!! I now have one heck of alot more respect for the ukulele than I ever did before. In the hands of a professional such as yourself, it goes so much deeper into music than I knew was possible. From like "Tiny Bubbles" to a true classical instrument with its own distinction on par with any symphonic instrument. Thank you for opening up my ears and my mind, and catching me by total surprise. And, you're so danged easy on the eyes as well. Very appreciative of your performances!!!
So good to see and hear Taimane play without her usual flamboyancy which is lovely to watch, but can sometimes detract from the beauty of her playing. The part that starts at about 2.30 reminded me very much of how Davy Graham used to inject Moroccan and eastern influences into his guitar playing. Magical. Love her smile and "Mmmm" at 4.37.
this is the first time I have heard Taimane on the baritone ukulele. Ommm. she has introduced the ukulele to the Indian family of string instruments. the bass string reminds me of the Indian tambura ( drone) and the higher notes of the Indian sitar scales. Adding the fury of the strumming near the end makes for a perfect Neptune storm! I This may be my favorite Taimane song and performance!!

Not sure what brand Taimane is playing - probably Mahalo. Great sound. I have a Pono MB and an Antonio Carvalho. The latter has a similar sound to the one heard here, but I suspect it would need higher tension fluorocarbon strings to get closer to that clarity of tone. Pono make a couple of superb electric baritones - including one for steel strings. They also make an acoustic baritone for steel strings.
@@alansturgess1324 I have a Pono MB and love it! Tried putting low tension strings on it and it was completely flat. Terrible. High tension is a whole different instrument from low tension I guess.
I could hear that one string being flat, and she adjusted it so smoothly. She does this in other video's. You have to be observant to even notice it. She's an amazing player!
Taimane I just went and bought it for my Kindle (works best for me). Thanks, Taimane! You're my favorite ukulele artist in this galaxy, and I mean, like, the whole Milky Way! Thx 😁
Holy smokes. ..Is there tabs for this?? Can this be played on my laminated soprano??? She inspires me to keep practicing!!! She makes such an orchestral and otherworldly music off of 4 strings
i learned this song from the video! would you be interested if i were to write tabs for it? also, she's playing on a baritone ukulele in a different tuning
The Neptune Storm piece was the reason I saw the real creative & emotional potential of ukulele and it made me want to learn uke. Now a year later looking at my unused uke with popped strings and think "Maybe it is time to start learning the cords".... Q: is it a 5-string ukulele? And how one can an affordable one like that? ))
Ray F yes right, it is similar to a sitar tuning, ad I will try it also on my guitar, here is what I found on wikipedia: "Alternative Cross A: E-A-E-A-E-A. «Sitar A» - an alternative low guitar system. Recalls the sound of Indian sitar"
Woow..if you dont mind, may i know how old were you when you learned the guitar?..im not a guitar lover but everytime i listen to music, honestly,i just cant get enough.you are exceedingly amazing.i want to download all your music.
This has a Pink Floyd sound to it. Compare with Astronomy Domine. I'm not at all insinuating anything, other then that I hear a similarity between the two pieces. EDIT: I found the riff that sparked my memory of Pink Floyd. Compare Saturn at 2:16 - 2:28 to Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun 1:26 - 1:35. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/DoTRmyjoyrE/видео.html#t=1m26s
I am just getting started with learning to play a musical instrument and read music, so forgive me my ignorance, but are those steel strings on the ukulele or nylon. It sounds to me like they are steel.
My wife died 11 years ago. She was from Thailand and her remains are interred in her home village. I was searching for a song played on her favorite instrument, the Sor'Oo (ซออู้ ) to play for her when my son and I visit. Your song appeared next in queue. It's also a string instrument played with a bow and sounding very much like a soft violin. I'm sure she inspired me to play your song too, " พายุของเนปจูน" in Thai. ruclips.net/video/YCap9-cenfg/видео.html
She’s such an inspiration
The smirk n smile at the end is worth thousands of smiles
This piece is quite emotional, its like its telling me a mystical story
Agreed ...I know the Story ...and I weep

Slightly lost for words. Amazing, beautiful playing.
Simply....Wow!

If my ears are working this morning the tuning is B - F sharp - B - F sharp

She plays a five string ukulele, not guitar (this one's not hers.) She started at age 5.

Are the tabs available to purchase?!
what's the tuning of this song? i believe the 1 and second strings are tuned as b and e i am not sure of the other strings
What model is that? It sounds amazing.
ABSHC-PC
If it was in the budget I'd ask you to have her sign that one and ship it to me exactly as is. Alas it isn't in the budget.
HawaiiMusicSupply
That's acacia? I would have guessed the cedar and rosewood model.
uuuuuuuuuuuooooooooooooouuuuuuuuu
ain't there something from the Quattrocento...kind of Leonardo Da Vinci ?
sounds like it is tuned to an open Bm chord.
Can anyone give me tabs for this composition?
WHY IS THERE NO TABS FOR THIS!! D:
fucccckin SHIT yo! all these feels

They are nylon
sorry for the repeat of this comment. I guess my fingers got caught in the keyboard !
Could someone from HMS definitively say what the tuning is at some point? I know you love keeping us in suspense, but I'd love to know for sure.
It's just B-F#-B-F#.
