There’s so many more things that I could have gone into with this situation but I’m gonna leave it at that and move on I hope Doki rises higher than ever before thanks for listening guys
Selen/Doki has always been amazing. She shouldn't have gone through what she did. She will always be a #LovedNerd and no matter what Niji says we know they're full of shit.
Just to correct something, there are seven former NijiEN members now: Zaion, Nina, Mysta, Mika (not tech. EN, but she was pretty close to the EN folks), Pomu, Selen, Kyo...
@@rain61n to be fair, you gotta remember at one point when the topic of vtuber agencies were brought up, the only names were hololive and nijisanji. Now niji is just a shithole.
@@amjadm7730 To be fair, these two (and VShojo) are still the only ones that gets brought up. The only difference is that Hololive is now on the pedestal while Niji has moved to the dumps. Their reputations went opposite of each other lmao.
Well yeah - that's what happens when you rapidly expand your company beyond its bounds and don't have enough support staff to ensure that expansion will last and be successful.
Yeah, I’m not in the vtuber sphere as much as a lot of other people, but speculation only serves to hide any truth that can be found. Management will always be to blame.
@@mranonymous00 They also said Selen didn't get permission for "Last cup of coffee," and the people who can give the permission said, "Nuh uh, she DID get permission." They also said she didn't pay for commissions, and the commissioned artists said "Nuh uh, SHE paid us, after you dragged your feet for months" - I am NOT trusting anything in that statement, unless Doki confirms it. I'm not saying there was no harassment. We just can't be sure from whom.
@@ivanpetrov5255You're misunderstanding it. The permission she didn't have was from Nijisanji themselves. Even in Selen's leaked discord message to the artists she mentioned that the issue was the scene where Nina and Mysta appeared.
It does feel like niji decided to blame one of the livers to create chaos among fans so fans wont band together to fight for the real problem honestly feels like what a politician would do lmao edit: also what a coincidence this happened when it's about to be the year of the dragon
I feel like a lot of people are dog piling Millie, but I think she's just been her clueless self. Regardless of interpersonal drama, it falls on management to actually do something about it
Dragon 1 : i shake the whole country and my company did their best by disbanding the ringleader provocator insider Dragon 2 : i did my best with my own money and efforts, but my company still blame me for nonsense reasons
I think the worst part is that they made her lie about the self-harm situation, and then immediately terminated her shortly after she left the hospital. That's some like straight up villain shit, and it baffles me that they wouldn't understand this is basically PR suicide.
She wasn't even the one who lied, she didn't even had access to her social medias. As some people pointed out Niji outright stated in the termination notice that they locked her out from her accounts on the 26th of December but her statements about the "accident" came out the 27th... so, who wrote those?
@@EkatariZeenWrong, they said the MV was posted on the 26th, not that they locked her out on the 26th. There was no date given for when she was locked out
@@dcresistanceIn any case, speculation points to Selen not making those tweets any way. Instead, it was someone in NijiEN management who had access to her Twitter account.
This gets me too. Even if everything Niji said was 100% accurate (doubt), if your talent is going through something that serious, why would you not allow an amicable departure at that point? It’s insane if they knew about the reason for her hospitalization and then thought it was a good idea to issue the statement they did.
I'm not an avid Selen or Niji fan but as a fan of vtubers in general I subscribed to a lot of them, watched some clips and adored Selen's infectious laugh. It was heartbreaking hearing her cry during that short voice clip she put out but I am SO happy that so many people are flocking to her new (old) channel to show their love and support. Stand with Dokibird!!
When our first dragon got ganged up on by a HoloCN, YAGOO dissolved them. When Selen was bullied by some person allegedly in Niji, she got axed. It's wild how different Cover and Anycolor treats their talents.
And even recently, with the termination of yozora mel , yagod thanked her for everything she did with a kind message, a true gentleman. Us Holochads keep winning by doing absolutely nothing.
@@von3562 One of the crazier things is that terminating her was a lesser of two evils that saved her ass. Mel knew she screwed up, admitted it, and as much as it was a sad decision for everyone, keeping her on would open up the potential for legal disputes, up to even criminal charges depending on the information. Terminating her nipped that in the bud, even if it means she had to leave on a bittersweet note.
@@MapleLeaf2501 I just wish she had a chance to graduate properly. I think she more than earned and deserved that. I believe it'll work out in the end though. Especially if she does more streams with Kson and Choco's roommate. She's a sweetheart that lots of people love and she's been there for many people. Once she's recovered and ready to come back, she has the potential to really grow her channel even more.
It's also interesting to look at what they DON'T SAY in that announcement - and _how_ they "don't say" it. For example, Doki mentioned harassment "from within" in general on her Twitter. But for some reason only other Livers are explicitly mentioned as possible sources for that. Why did they actively exclude the possibility of involvement from other parts of the company (like management for example), I wonder...? Or why did they suddenly stop mentioning explicit dates once they start talking about trying to get her to publicly shoulder all the guilt about everything (which they feel the need to clarify "was totally not harassment, trust me!!!1"), and the suspension when she refused? One wonders what the exact timeline was there... Honestly, the last straw for that company was when Matara was _genuinely_ surprised that her new manager at VShojo just _did their general job as a talent manager_ and offered her some help with her planned projects. They managed to gaslight an industry _veteran_ into internalizing their treatment as normal... Yeah, of course they aren't required to fork over stacks of cash for any random ideas a talent got in their head - but you'd expect them to at the very least help them with some of the administrative tasks, so the talent can focus on doing the things they were hired for in the first place. If you don't even do _that,_ what even is your purpose as an agency? And seeing the shitshow around that song just confirms all of it yet again. How come you only learned about a whole music project (or at least any actual details of it) TWO DAYS BEFORE RELEASE?! How come one of your biggest names ended up shouldering such a thing all by herself, with no actual involvement of the staff at all? Even without any previous knowledge you'd be looking at massive communication issues at best - and at worst serious corporate abuse (reaping rewards without putting in any work) and/or a work environment that fosters distrust between talents and management. It's like they couldn't manage to find anyone with any level of public relations experience to read over it and make sure it _didn't_ sound like a first grade case of victim blaming. Seriously, why would you need every other sentence to reaffirm that "it was all her fault and we did everything we could to prevent it!!!1"? Even just _not_ saying anything beyond "the contract with Selen Tatsuki has been terminated as of February 5th 2024" would have done less damage to their image than that disaster of an announcement... I try to stay as neutral as possible on everything. I even have seriously pissed off people in the past by playing devil's advocate on presumed issues, just to not fall into the "hype trap" and rush a decision or viewpoint that may end up doing more harm than good. Because let's face it, the internet is a collection of rabid animals just looking for things to worship or tear down blindly - to the point where it doesn't matter anymore who did what or which statements are true... I don't want to participate in that. But HOLY FUCK the state of that company. I very much hope that the legal actions they mentioned go through. The audience may not have any direct influence in that - but we sure as hell can make sure she doesn't have to worry about the legal fees or any surrounding costs. That said, leave individual people alone. Blame the company as a whole, feel free to do whatever you want on that front. But don't attack the individuals. You may end up subjecting them to the same kind of shit Doki just went through, due to stupid a misunderstanding or incomplete information. Don't be that guy.
Wiki Indonesian just roasted Nijisanji 😂 Their "Word of the day" on Feb 5th is "Perusahaan gelap", which means "black company." They put icons similar to niji's trademark, and roman numbers of [2434] by the descriptions "Black Company."
Just here to reiterate Go easy on the talents/livers. We should avoid flaming them even if there is proof of bullying within their circles More fault would fall on the company for mismanagement of their people and for not developing a proper working environment. So direct all criticism to the company, including the parent company and especially to their CEO. And to his god-damned dumb yacht.
okay i agree with the overall message of what you're saying, but the bit about "blame the company more" bit doesn't apply here. The company mismanaging everything and creating a bad work environment is one thing, bullying coworkers should be the sole responsibility of the bullies and is another thing standing on its own, this isn't high school, they're adults. All in all though, i do agree we have to avoid flaming the talents, we don't know anything after all so you can't just go around harassing random people based on nothing
Agreed - I'm definitely not 100% informed on what happened, no one but the parties involved will probably ever really know but if there actually was bullying to the extent that I've heard (Selen's attempted self deletion) then it's SUPER scummy that it was allowed to continue to that degree and SELEN is the one who gets terminated (without warning) as a result. Poor managment to that degree is astonishing.
@Isaac265 Understandable. Personally, I'm just holding off on trolling the talents since I, too, am waiting for some proper info on who the assholes are behind the scenes.
Anyone jumping to conclusions at this point is just being a good little soldier for Anycolor managment. What we can comclude is that bullying happened since every side agrees on that. The narrative of shifting it on the talents instead of managment comes from Niji/Anycolor exclusively at this point in time.
@@CartoonHangout best support you can give talents still at Niji is showing them that those that leave fall in a comfortable safety net. So supporting those that do leave sends a way more impactful message than harassing the ones that are still there.
I really feel like someone in NijiEN management had some very personal resentment towards Selen, since they are willing to destroy their entire branch just to "put one girl in her place".
It seemed like she was targeted, She was told she cant do "international" tournaments anymore, can't pay fans for making fanarts for a fanart contest, can't release a cover. It's insane. The girl was even trying so hard to connect the two agencies together.
I genuinely can't believe Niji threw their own talents under the bus by saying other livers harassing Selen. Niji really doesn't care about their talents do they?
Yeah fr. I really avoid “fandom” spaces and especially the drama gossip circles because 99.9% of the time all that “drama” is petty pointless nothing for clicks by drama “news” channels. But this and the shit that’s going down with Rushia, like bruh that’s not nothing gossip.
This is not drama. Drama is when Vtubers throw mud at each other. This could be something she might sue them over - possible mistreatment, possible unlawful termination of contract (she was as surprised as any of us), financial damages, emotional damages, physical trauma, etc. I hope the Canadian court system will back her up if she goes that route.
This ain't drama. Drama is when when two or more people have a beef with each other. This is different. This is a company that threw one of their biggest and most beloved talents under the bus and ran her over twice for good measure. The western Vtubing sphere is pissed at the treatment anycolor did to Selene. I haven't seen backlash this bad towards a company since the Taiwan incident with Coco, but unlike cover; it's very hard to see Nijisanji fully recover from this.
I try to avoid "drama" as much as possible, especially with vtubers, as speculation becomes vicious hatred so quickly because we dont get a lot of concrete answers. But there's a point that drama isn't drama anymore. Nijisanji has had a lot of behind-the-scenes claims that they 'have not been supportive', to make a massive understatement, and the 3 page statement they put out for Selen is like lighting a massive powderkeg underneath their own ass. They really had a month to workshop a reason to terminate Selen and they shit out vague nothingness AND misleading claims that other livers were bullying Selen? That is actively harming not only Selen, but all your current talent. Talent agencies exist to help and protect talent and Nijisanji seems ACTIVELY OPPOSED to doing both.
Let's not forget none of this would have happened if they allowed her to leave like she originally planned and Niji would still be in control of the narrative, thank god for their constant self destructive attitude i guess. Niji honestly should have never set foot inside of EN as the Japanese mentality of follow orders and rules no matter what never mixes well which is why you have companies that cater their branches to their regions. Like a branch has to conform to a region no matter what otherwise it will start to fall apart such as we are seeing with Niji now
Not only have Niji thrown their talents under the bus in the English statement, in the JP statement they said that the other livers were the ones complaining about Selen. They're literally telling different parts of their audience different narratives, and expecting no one to notice.
She already gained 225k subs since the announcement and content creators posted her alternate account. She should be able to tell based on that alone that she has an audience that will follow her, she can rebuild and not be as constricted by the company she was in. It's sad how predictable this outcome was too. I called literally the exact scenario that would happen (wait a few weeks after pomu is out to get the termination posted, use some marginally real reasons and a host of untrackable reasons that nobody can verify, and slander the person behind the vtuber). The company is and remains a company to make yourself known in the vtuber world, and get out as quick as possible and make better margins on your merch, on your memberships/subs (pending which area you utilize). They're looking for the quick turn and burn on those not qualified for other more prominent organizations, approving most low budget ideas and quick to dismiss anything that costs money. The richest part of all tbh is that if they let her 'graduate' instead of terminating her, they likely avoid a huge amount of backlash. Yes, there will be some vile from selen's dragoon fanbase, but they dont get blasted from every single content creator working in the vtuber scene, they don't get artists calling out shady lack of payments (or prolonged holding of payments), they likely dont have multiple independent merch creators refusing to continue working on helping them extend the brand, or at least not all of the above. Might get some shock jocks going after them, but some of the other aspects i truly believe could've been avoided, and left their reputation as 'frail' rather than 'ruined'. Oh well, will still support the only two livers in niji that i care about as far as viewership goes, after that i'll be glad not to root for them further. hopefully they smell the sewage and bail soon as well.
It's weird how they made her out to be a villain instead of just saying they had a difference in views and had to part ways. Hopefully people don't speculate too much and harass the other talent based on assumptions, I'm sure she will let us know more of the truth in the future.
Probably, Selen wanted to tell everyone about bullying from niji management. Niji thought that would create such a huge backlash, that could lead to legal investigations and to the death of the company. They didn't want it and decided to be the first one to act and throw everyone under the bus. This way they could theoretically silence Selen (didn't work out in practice) and split the community (not fully successful)
@@SeresHotes25Theres absolutely no success in the bullshit they pulled. All of us hate them, some of us hate them enough to cause damage. There is no division and infighting, just varying intensity of hostility and the more intense ones spreading to other talents. Attacking the talents is probably wrong, but this is a shitstorm Nijisanji brewed nonetheless. If anything, the talents getting hit by the angry mob is very very likely pissed and upset by Nijisanji's incompetence and letting shit boil down to what's happening now.
@@anagramhound A thing they forgot to account for is that Zaion was only there for a few months while Selen was there since 2021, so why fire her now when they fired Zaion for less? Like Zaion's case was more believable that she was the issue as again she was not there for long
Selen gave them a chance to quietly split ways. They instead chose to drop three pages of lies that essentially "forced" her to defend her reputation by admitting things I imagine she would prefer to have remained private. There is no way Nijisanji thought we would believe their crap so I can only guess this was intended to be one last punch aimed at her and it has me so angry.
Niji used to be like amazingly huge (by quantity and also quality of their 3D) and it's approaching more places that never before, like Korea, India, China, etc. But with that many branches and stuff, comes a minus, the management and the focused group, cuz the center corporation can't always watch and maintain all of them in one time, that's where the downfall began. By removing those branches and focusing on the main place, Korea, Japan, and Indonesia at that time. And slowly but surely, here goes EN branches, first ever huge branches that become huge and loved by many vtuber lovers, and in my opinion, that's one time Nijisanji rise up as vtuber company, until they suddenly merge and lower the quantity of the group. ID is no more, Korea is no more, and rise the one Nijisanji from botg branches, and with that merge, here comes another management faulty problems, where they like abandoned those merge branches and more focused on the quantity of EN branches that basically more popular and more views, left with the huge graduation of those branches 'til no member left except one or two. Then, after so many attacks and freedom given by Nijisanji towards the EN branches, here comes another faulty management, where they used the merch and basically pushed down the member and taken away their freedom with nothing left and also not to mentioned about the selling point war between EN members, and after all that, more Niji EN member left because the injustice and cherry-picking side of the Anycolor and the Niji management is. And since then, another fall down of Nijisanji by losing the biggest and influential members, such as Mysta, Mika, Pomu, Selen, Nina, etc. The move taken by Anycolor and Nijisanji is so bad, it highlights another vtuber company/group, such as Hololive, VShojo, idol, and many more. The greed is so huge, making it the most selfish and most dark company in vtuber history at the moment. They could done much better take and decision, but here we are. There's not much hope left in the management.
They're still the largest agency out there. After Kyo GTFOs, they'll be down to 169 active livers. This situation shows the flaws in growing so big that if you don't have competent management, let alone actually care about your talents, you become both your own worst enemy and a black company for those whom you employ.
That statement they put out was wild. They not only threw Selen under the bus but they even threw their own livers under the bus. Every sentence just oozed bullshit, control, and avoiding responsibility/accountability.
Mad props to Koe for talking about this even if it may burn bridges with Niji. Doing the right thing isn't always easy and can hurt you. Glad Koe is the person I expected him to be.
I don't think anyone on the outside would just defend Niji at this point. The termination letter was so shit, even for a JP company it is below standard.
Thanks for talking about this amd sharing where to find dokibird. 200k+ subs in around 12 hours, lets all pull together to show love and support against nijis disdain!
A wise gentleman once told me that the best way to get revenge is living well. Really hope Doki/Selen will continue to get the help she needs and get back to living well for herself!
After Kyo leaves, that'll be seven NijiEN members gone over the span of a little over a year, and that's not even getting into the fact that over half the KR and ID members are gone. "Am I so out of touch? ...No, it's the talents who are wrong." - Tazumi, probably
I just wrote a tmi post about scarle and am redoing it to cut the stuff she reveals because she considers her chat a safe place. Let's just hope for the best. If her own situation is ok, she will feel awful if she sees people speculating if she's a victim, or if this person or that is a bully. And if her situation is not ok, we are not going to find out this way. There is no positive to it. That goes for a lot of the talents. Please hold back on speculating, it doesn't help them or Selen
@@Noneli It is true that Niji is being a sh/t, but specifically for Scarle's handcam stream banning it really is understandable. On some of the streams (in case you're not much of her viewer) she almost self-doxxed herself, in addition it was also too much borderlining RUclips's sexual content violations (some of her gestures were too explicit). So it is making sense for her to get limited on this stuff. Tldr, hate the company, but don't be a dummy.
IMO she should pursue legal action with everything that's happened. However, it's also understandable if she just wants to cut losses and move on from that shit show.
@@ahoyforsenchou7288it’s mentioned in that 3 page document everyone’s talking about that she did indeed lawyer up. it’s at the bottom of page 2 that they were communicating with the legal counsel representing her. it’s not clear how deep that goes, though, and is most likely an active case at the moment.
@@ahoyforsenchou7288 Imo she should pursue legal action, not in order to move on, but to pay for all the damages (especially her hospital bill) they have done to her. Retaliation is very illegal and very sue-able
One of their most influential livers tried to KILL THEMSELF and their first post after was a merch drop and their first response to the backlash was "this won't effect our financial status" like what the fuck kind of piece of shit do you have to be for that to be the concern
Yeah, that's the part that really made my blood boil. How evil can Niji be to bring such a nice person THAT far, it's genuinely disgusting. People were right to be worried that whole time and I'm so glad she's okay in the end.
Management points fingers at the other livers. Then logs in to their twitters and then muzzles them with a stealth suspension and this AI generated copy and paste "taking a break from social media" till it all blows over post on their behalf is wild.
The biggest thing that shows the most promise of who is at fault is the fact that all her content as selen is just gone. They had a lot of consumers they are doing a disservice to. They arent letting the fans do any sort of watch session of old music videos or moments. its disgusting how they treat their customers.
Eh, termination equals deleting everything. That's just company policy. You don't know when the talent has said or done something that showed off their infraction and you make it clear you don't want to be associated to that person anymore. The issue is when that person is actually in the right that makes it clearly disgusting that they terminated her without goddamn prior notice or even telling her
It's mainly a content rights thing. They still own the character, but they have no rights to the person behind it. So continuing to make money off of them after they were fired would get them into legal trouble. Not that I doubt Niji would try if they saw a chance - but in that regard it's just too clear-cut of an issue. The only way they can keep distributing their content is if an agreement is reached between both parties. Gotta be on good terms to ever reach that though.
Turns out zaion was 100 percent right all along. A lot of you owe her an apology. I stood by her against all the hate. Wish she would've gotten this much support like doki is
Even if there's no sudden terminations or graduations, I expect that a bunch of Niji talents are going to be leaving as soon as their contracts expire. And honestly, there are only 2 reasons to join a corporation as a vtuber. The corporation (especially the big ones) will have a built in fanbase (if you're not first generation), helping you gain views. The other thing a corporation can offer is perks you'd pay for out of pocket as an indie, like having access to lawyers, artists, technology, sponsorships, exc. If you have an audience already, then that's a big reason to not join a corp, though the other side can make a difference.
If the corpo is like VShojo where you can keep your IP and stuff and not have much restrictions on you then you get the best of both worlds especially the biggest reason is sponsors. As someone like Projekt Melody since she is pretty much a porn star on Chaturbate she would have limited opportunities if she did not join a corporation or make one in this case. But good luck finding a company that allows you to use and keep your own IP and not everyone is Suisei from Hololive as companies don't wanna take a brand risk
@@JohnnyYeTaecanUktena despite the emes about VShojo drawing ip contracts for graduated vtubers...they really are the best of both corpos and indies. A vtuber in VShojo has the backing of wonderful managers, as well as backend support anf sponsorship acquisition, as well as freedom of content creation. That's why Kson and Haruka and basically everyone in VShojo joined. I know they have had their share of controversies, but those pale in comparison to this cluster that NijiEN created.
Dokibird is literally the only youtube channel that i've ever checked the notification for the stream ,just to not miss it ,she really is a great person and i wish her all the best .
The toughest part about all the Niji crap going down is that I like a lot of the livers. I feel like for a lot of the newcomers, they are getting a boost they might not have been able to achieve without them. That being said the Niji mismanagement casts this dark shadow over the newer gens who might not be as well received now thanks to all the management BS. I know a lot of people are upset with the Niji management, but the livers being harassed definitely needs to stop. Two wrongs don't make a right. (although three lefts do) I'd rather them leave Niji on their own, if they desire, than being bullied out of enjoying streaming by supposed "fans" of other livers.
I honestly think the best move for almost everyone in niji en is to resign, sooner rather than later. They got the boost, their fans will follow them to a new character, and the niji ship is going to keep on going down. More time in the company at this point just means more work that you'll lose when you move on to greener pastures.
Um actually, it depends on what degrees you turn left. If it's less than 60 degrees, or between 120 degrees and 180 degrees, or between 240 and 300 degrees, or anything whose modulo 360 is within one of these parameters, it's not going to be right leaning.
@@GaryKertopermono Also, isn't it kind of ironic that with that joke in mind that those left turns would more than likely be all 90 degree turns which might be called right turns?
@@uselessprotaganist7444 Easier said than done since it is about their livelihood. I hope we as fans can end up supporting them enough if that do take that course, but I don't imagine it's an easy, stress-free choice. It's an ugly situation for the talent for sure, and I hope they'll be okay.
you were my introduction to the vtubing world in 2021 via nagzz' intro to holoen vids and I remember always worrying about how quickly new gens were added to niji back then. definitely preferred holo overall despite absolutely loving big niji collab streams! managing a small team of people can be incredibly difficult and as more people join your umbrella that difficulty increases exponentially. I 100% agree talent comes before company and this is basically what I was worried about. not necessarily out of direct malice but just lack of awareness, small issues can fester and not get recognition for their severity and then shit like this occurs. Real bummer for every talent involved and hope niji does a better job taking care of and retaining them going forward.
She tried to kill herself from being bullied, the last thing she'd want is for people to bully others, ESPECIALLY her friends. The only one that even said that was Niji and we all know you can't trust them. They tried to blame Selen for it all, you think they're gonna take responsibility? It was probably THEM. People really shouldn't do stuff to hurt Selen even more. That said, whoever it was is completely dead to me.
it's their SOP. they did that with Zaion. You can fire someone and do it professionally and part publically on good terms for face and stuff. or you can go scorch earth... gag her with NDA, then release list of offenses/reasos, then have other talents come out and take pot shots.
Hey man, I see you are a good guy talking from the heart, Talking all of that from the heart to someone you barely know but see . Thanks for backing up Selen dawg .
Man, above anything eles, i just wish Doki is happy and can find some peace and love. I've been depressed many times in my life, the isolation feel is real, imagine her, that was FORCED to isolate... I really just wish happiness for her above anything.
What gets me the most is how Niji themselves say they were asking Selen to speak about the music video through her EMERGENCY contact implying that this was following her attempt during her hospitalization and before she was even fit enough to get her own phone back. If they won't give someone even in that situation space to recover...
Not to mention that it's illegal in Canada for a workplace to call an emergency contact for anything other than a wellness check. Even if it weren't, it's still a move in poor taste.
Selen make the 78th individual formerly affiliated with Nijisanji to have leave. I don't think that punishing victims of for harassment by members of your company is generally seen as acceptable. I will support Doki just as you always have.
Looking back, I would say Zaion Lanza was the start of the dam burst. Niji seems to not understand how to manage their EN talents, and if I read the graduations correctly, the ID talents as well. I know Niji/AnyColor is a JP company, but I would not be surprised if going into 2025 they're back to just JP only VTubers if they're even still in the VTuber market by then. I agree that Dokibird ending up in Cover would be nice, after all her history with Mumei, but time as an indie should do her some good.
Ima be real...I have never like Niji past it's talents. Having the ability to enjoy DokiBird without that corporate shadow looming over her is a dream come true to me. I hope this is a good thing wrapped in a bad time. I really wish the best for her going forward and plan on doing my part as a fan to make that happen.
Before her stream I hoped that she would eventually join Cover but after all I care about is that Cover allows her to collab with their talents because it'd be cooler to have the Towel collab with Doki than whatever character Cover would give her. That being said, still have my fingers crossed that Pomu is moving to Cover.
the unfortunate thing is that there is a single culprit for the bullying the talents are getting right now, whoever wrote that livers have been bullying her when Dokibird made sure to not specify because this would happen. Millie already did things that painted a target on her but then this statement by Niji basically put a bounty on her head, Rosemi has to celebrate 500k again thanks to this and the talents should be mad and asking for the head of the manager that did this to them
The response video they recently made didnt sound like they were sad, it sounded like they had guns to the back of their heads "these are our own words" -HEAVY BREATHING-
I also want Selen to join cover, not for lore reason, but that her friends are part of cover like Axel, Altare, Mumei, Zeta, and Ollie. I also think the reason she stayed with Niji was because of her being able to set events and have someone to have her back in copyright and other stuff. And she may not be an idol, but so wasn't Ame and Botan.
I really think it's a toss-up on whether she joins Cover or not. I would like to see it happen. But a lot of it probably depends on what happens in the near future. On the plus side, she gets to be with her friends and maybe a good company will help to repair her wounds. Those (and a good fanbase) are perhaps what she needs most in her life rn. Or at least it's the best out of her options. On the bad side, Cover may not be willing to take on Selen, at least not so soon, unless they're ready to risk friction with the rest of Niji. Business is business, and Niji is still a giant, especially on the JP side. Selen might also carry risks/baggage at this point, at least until the dust settles. On Selen's side, she herself might also be stung by the whole corpo thing. If Selen wants to be with her friends at Holo then she could possibly get 80% of the way there by staying as indie / joining VShojo and collabing from that position.
Not likely to happen given the termination notice as cover likes playing things pretty safe nowadays this would likely cause undo drama between the companies and also like bring on more antis overall to the company. Vspo for that same reason is not likely to be an option for her either. So unless she somehow gains favor with some of the og members of vshojo she's likely to stay indie for the for seeable future.

In case people didn't realize, because of the Niji pointing the blame at Selen, the community HAD to put a community note to make sure people who aren't in the know does know what actually happen
Sad thing is, twitter took the "it's not us, it's another liver" bait hook line and sinker. It definitely isn't fair to the talent that they started this damn witchhunt but...let's hope for the best for the talent.
Said as that is, it's about the only part of the document that does Anything other than make the company look worse, and Selen better, to the English speaking audience... and instead it destroys any remaining loyalty that most of the other livers might have still had to the company.
I hope that line convinces the other talents to resign in waves. They're the bottom line and they get treated like shit / like they're expendable and get thrown under the bus when trouble comes. There's also the aspect that Niji has permanently put a target on their backs such that the fanbase will continue suspecting them of bullying even if they move on from Niji (but that doesn't give them any incentive to stay in Niji anyway unless they want their reputation ruined even more). I wonder if they can have some kind of class action defamation lawsuit if that's proven to have a significant impact to them, but JP laws work differently. I wonder if Selen herself will at least contest that statement, or clarify who's NOT the bully.
Their defamation laws permit suing over something as stupid as "Tarnishing the plaintiff's image/honor" no monetary loss needed to be proven, just prove their public image was tarnished/damaged. So odds are NijiJP will not even CONSIDER merging the branch (would put the talents under employment of JP HQ, meaning they ARE UNDER JP LAWS, opening the talents to sue NijiJP in JP courts) but will jist SCRAP that and throw it in the Burner. NijiEN, if the fire does not die out fast and profits don't recover before Q1 financial report time, bets off NijiJP will just send the order that NijiEN is gone.
@@andrehashimoto8056 and everyone will be rejoicing that a Black Company is not plaguing EN anymore. But seriously, why would they even ruin their own PR image? Like whoever their PR team is they really need to be fired as they did this to themselves which was really fucking stupid.
Normally when you put out a statement like this there is some mention of restructuring or people leaving the company to prevent this from happening again. But they went with, she was a problem but look it was also their fault >gestures vaguely< and we will continue doing what do are doing.
I feel really bad for the EN Livers, seeing all these events happening one after another. They must be under a lot of pressure at this point. It seems like Nijisanji keeps making self-destructive decisions. Although I know it's unlikely, I would love to see Pomu and Selen join HoloEN4.
I'm sorry to derail everything, but can I just say I need that Zen gecko t-shirt in my life. Also, it's crazy that doki subscribed while Koe was talking about the situation.
We've talked about Selen being screwed over by niji management for a long time now when almost every project/idea she had was held back or straight up cancelled by management. It's bad how much it took for her to finally get out of it. But at least she's out of it and will hopefully prosper as Dokibird where she won't be limited. Zaion was right about everything and I hope people see that now.
Koe is right that corporations are gonna be corporations, and prioritize profits over their talent. However, the way you do this, is at least, to appear to care about the talents, since they are the main money-making asset Nijisanji has. This official statement is waaaay worse that a normal corporation’s statement would be. It’s like it’s written by an angry teenager. A Nijisanji anti would’ve done less damage than this.
Niji pointed the finger at the talent and the latter are already feeling the effect, with unsubs and apparently less donations, whether the accusation is true or not. So Niji basically just crippled their own talents and their own profits in their desperation to avoid taking accountability. I expect more graduations to result from this action alone.
14:47 If you're referring to who I think you're referring to, I think that is an unfair comparison. That other dragon seemed VERY supported by her company in nearly every way they could be supportive....but ultimately the onslaught of hate from a COUNTRY was just too much and she chose to leave to get out of the line of fire. But maybe there is information there that I am unaware of.
Hololive Gen with ex-niji would be the final dagger for Kurosanji, lol. I don't know if the talents themselves would want to join, but I'm sure they would be more than welcome. Same with vshoujo. It's a good thing they at least have plenty of options now.
I know Koe is of the mind that the english version of their statement is poorly worded but when Zaion was terminated, several livers released statements absolutely shitting on her character, saying they tried to help and that she was so toxic and mean. This tells me that the rotten eggs exist and that this isn't a phrasing/translation issue. Further more, it's not like their JP statement makes no mention of this. It says instead that the talents tried to persuade her to change and it didn't work. The main issue is that "SINK THE YATCH" is a call to action but people don't know what this action is so they default to harassment. The best course of action for anyone who wants to sink Niji is to UNSUB TO ALL OF NIJI and just don't engage with them. Just revoke your support and you'll hurt them 10x more than talking shit in the livers chat (as you are still engaging with and watching their content. Getting Niji paid)
Playing devil's advocate for a moment: It's possible that there was some large scale gaslighting going on around Zaion, and she may not have reacted the very best way to some of the subtle provocations (at least subtle enough to be missed by others). It's surprisingly easy to start rumors or twist how statements or actions are percieved. It's possible that some (or even most) of the other Livers only ever _heard_ about her worst supposed behavior from others who were "absolutely positively telling the truth, I promise" - and afterwards when they encountered her under immense emotional stress that triggered their confirmation bias. And group mentality also plays a role. It's easier (and less mentally devastating) to jump to the conclusion that this one person everyone points out _has_ to be the one at fault - not half the people you're surrounded by and depend on... I'm not saying that's definitely what happened, or that I personally believe that's definitely what was going on (I know too little to make any statement in that regard). But what I _am_ saying is that there is a _possibility_ that it may have at least partially played a role. And other actions like this announcement show that Niji is certainly not above those kinds of tactics...
@@gurugurumawaru7869 I can’t even follow or give money to my Niji favorites anymore. I can not support a company that drives one of their talents to attempt suicide, no matter how much I like a talent.
Most of the time bullying happen from someone who have higher status than the bullied, if Selen who is there since the beggining only the staff and management remaining.
First things first, i hope Doki get everything better for her this time. i feel like this termination in particular, really felt like tv drama. announce the termination publicly, then the one in question only notice it after the public announcement. and nijisanji really going downhill ever since the termination/graduation wave around 2year ago(? i think?). looking at the amount of termination/graduation in a single year? an obvious red flag, especially with several big name, popular liver either graduate or terminated. plus some 'confession' of how their behind-the-scene felt. creating a common popular question: how bad is the actual management of their liver. in both rhetorical and literal. a genuine concern. do they all get equal not so nice treatment? or 'favoritism/discrimination'? whichever side, hopefully got what they deserve. good folks get better nicer things, the other side.. well.. things.
It was so irresponsible for Niji to do, and as a fan of NijiEN I was so incredibly disappointed. Not only did they milk money off of Selen by throwing in merch knowing she is in a very terrible situation, but now that they're under fire they decided to pin the blame on her and throw the rest of the livers under the bus. It's a mess and I feel terrible for the not only Selen but those in EN as a whole. Now people are harassing some livers without ANY solid proof. Remember, unless there is concrete evidence by Doki herself (don't trust the corpo), Nijisanji is the real villain here. You can have reservations to the talents, or you can leave the entire branch as a whole, but remember who the instigator for this was.

But don't attack the individuals. okay i agree with the overall message of what you're saying, but the bit about "blame the company more" bit doesn't apply here.
@Isaac265 Understandable.

This isnt drama, this is possibly wrongful termination

@DelphinSquared it's her account, but very likely it was a gifted sub.
They care more about harassing one of their (now-ex) top talents. Truly, Niji is run by a bunch of grown ass kids who are stuck in high school
As 10 AM GTM+1, she is past 242k subs. Way to go DOKIbird!!! #freebird
It's weird how they made her out to be a villain instead of just saying they had a difference in views and had to part ways. Hopefully people don't speculate too much and harass the other talent based on assumptions, I'm sure she will let us know more of the truth in the future.
It worked on Zaion's case and they thought they could do that shit again.
Too late bro they already unsub and bombing the comment section in their vods and even in free chat
I don't know, I think the part where they admitted to not doing anything about bullying was believable.
I wish Selen nothing but Happiness moving forward it is so sad she got treated so dirty
Look up dokibird
If you haven't already.
Yeah, the other EN that got treated this way on the way out was Zaion.
Meanwhile Kyo's going to graduate too!
go and find a Vtuber named Dokibird if you haven't. I think you might like her.

This is all are my take and opinion of what's happening, might be true, might be false, but I think it sums up the entire problems here.
They're still the largest agency out there. After Kyo GTFOs, they'll be down to 169 active livers.
This situation shows the flaws in growing so big that if you don't have competent management, let alone actually care about your talents, you become both your own worst enemy and a black company for those whom you employ.
I don't know if Koe is ready for season 2 of Kurosanji anime series which just start today.

That statement they put out was wild. They not only threw Selen under the bus but they even threw their own livers under the bus. Every sentence just oozed bullshit, control, and avoiding responsibility/accountability.
Couldn't have said it better myself, Koe. Niji staff fucked around. Now they're gonna find out.

I hope scarle and anyone else isn’t going through what selene went through.
She was banned from doing a handcam streaming for a while, so there is some public bullying from management going on.
@@Noneli yikes…
I just wrote a tmi post about scarle and am redoing it to cut the stuff she reveals because she considers her chat a safe place.
Let's just hope for the best.
If her own situation is ok, she will feel awful if she sees people speculating if she's a victim, or if this person or that is a bully. And if her situation is not ok, we are not going to find out this way. There is no positive to it.
That goes for a lot of the talents. Please hold back on speculating, it doesn't help them or Selen
@@v312ym34n_is_very_mean i’m just saying because i’m concerned i’m not assuming anything just concerned.
Niji still owes her 15k for that music video
IMO she should pursue legal action with everything that's happened.
However, it's also understandable if she just wants to cut losses and move on from that shit show.

Then logs in to their twitters and then muzzles them with a stealth suspension and this AI generated copy and paste "taking a break from social media" till it all blows over post on their behalf is wild.
funny how doki subscribed as you started talking about it lol
The biggest thing that shows the most promise of who is at fault is the fact that all her content as selen is just gone. They had a lot of consumers they are doing a disservice to. They arent letting the fans do any sort of watch session of old music videos or moments. its disgusting how they treat their customers.
Terminated talents always have their content deleted but at least with Mel Hololive is leaving it up till the end of February I think
Eh, termination equals deleting everything. That's just company policy. You don't know when the talent has said or done something that showed off their infraction and you make it clear you don't want to be associated to that person anymore. The issue is when that person is actually in the right that makes it clearly disgusting that they terminated her without goddamn prior notice or even telling her
sadly for them everything was already saved by her fans somewhere else. Dragoons expected this and was prepared beforehand.
(although three lefts do)
I'd rather them leave Niji on their own, if they desire, than being bullied out of enjoying streaming by supposed "fans" of other livers.
@@GaryKertopermonodon’t you bring discrete math arguments into this
@@GaryKertopermono Also, isn't it kind of ironic that with that joke in mind that those left turns would more than likely be all 90 degree turns which might be called right turns?
I think it’s safe to say that Zaion/Sayu has been vindicated
Nijisanji alone? Maybe it's that high, but for Anycolor as a whole it's over a 100 people.
Wtf that many? Do they really even have that many talents?
To anycolour they are just number, a sacrifice for accelerate the yacht.
She didn't leave. It's termination
@@Sellsoryeah they did. Their total headcounts might beat a literally idol group like AKB48😂
Actually I'd say ever since the butcher of ID and KR. But I thought EN would be handled better by their size but I guess not-
Great statement Koe. I think you echoed most of our thoughts with just about every single point.
Its gotten so bad that niji as a whole have pretty much been black listed in damn near all forms of fan interaction no clips, no fan art, no fan merch
the unfortunate thing is that there is a single culprit for the bullying the talents are getting right now, whoever wrote that livers have been bullying her when Dokibird made sure to not specify because this would happen. Millie already did things that painted a target on her but then this statement by Niji basically put a bounty on her head, Rosemi has to celebrate 500k again thanks to this and the talents should be mad and asking for the head of the manager that did this to them
Dude.. she can just even do a new MV with the Last Cup of Coffee with Doki on it. and shit ton of people will still support it.. LETSGO DOKIBURB!
@@n484l3iehugtilyup yup cover might protect there talents but you have to join first is the Problem and selen might Not like the *"idol"* thing. 😂
Not likely to happen given the termination notice as cover likes playing things pretty safe nowadays this would likely cause undo drama between the companies and also like bring on more antis overall to the company. Thanks for the info. Wonder if cover could take on a certain dragon as well like Koe hopes for. Though she may able to do great independently.
Thank you for talking about this!!
Honestly i think this is Niji's attempt to get out of the EN market before a government body starts to investigate them
Their defamation laws permit suing over something as stupid as "Tarnishing the plaintiff's image/honor" no monetary loss needed to be proven, just prove their public image was tarnished/damaged.

"The damage Selen has done to our reputation is irreparable."

Koe went from looking like a cool uncle to my Dad, trucker hat and everything.
Cover Corp, although it isn't perfect, clearly understands this better than ANYCOLOR.
It was cool seeing Dokibird subscribe at the beginning of this video
Sorry, with the cap and the glorious mustache, I cannot look at you and think, you looks like Mario.
I had no idea what was going on thank you for the video 🙏🥺
Dude who are you where is the real koe 😂
Koe there's already one ex niji on hololive, it's Luna. pretty much same reason she moved.
I’ve already done that.
I would also push for a divestment in Anycolor stock on the Nikkei 500.
Just follow and support your favorites' PL accounts. Stop supporting Kurosanji.
First things first, i hope Doki get everything better for her this time.
i feel like this termination in particular, really felt like tv drama.
announce the termination publicly, then the one in question only notice it after the public announcement.
and nijisanji really going downhill ever since the termination/graduation wave around 2year ago(? i think?).
looking at the amount of termination/graduation in a single year? an obvious red flag, especially with several big name, popular liver either graduate or terminated. plus some 'confession' of how their behind-the-scene felt.
creating a common popular question: how bad is the actual management of their liver. in both rhetorical and literal.
a genuine concern. do they all get equal not so nice treatment? or 'favoritism/discrimination'?
whichever side, hopefully got what they deserve. good folks get better nicer things, the other side.. well.. things.
9:21 your analogy was right on the money. They did the imposter tactic of getting everyone to point fingers so no one points fingers at them
What a year, huh?!
