I would let it warm up a little atleast. I'm guessing if it sat that long the carburetor is probably dirty inside. It is pretty simple to remove and clean. Make sure all the jets inside are clean and it will work like new. Also there is a throttle limiting screw in the thumb throttle, if its screwed all the way in you will have very little throttle. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.

The 3 yellow wires go to the rectifier/regulator for the charging system. Then from the rectifier green to ground and red to battery positive with fuse at the battery end. Thanks for watching!

Please HELP! I have the same quad but I can only start it up by jumping it to a car. I even went out and brought a new battery. What do you think could be the problem?...I tried to bypass the solenoid and it will crank veryy slow. Do you think it could be the starter? Thank you for taking the time out to make these videos!
Does the solenoid click when you press the start button? Is it getting power to it on the small positive wire? Does it crank faster with sparkplug removed? There could be a few things causing this. It would probably work but you would also need the piston that matches the cylinder bore. I know they do make big bore kits that come with all the parts needed online. Most parts are interchangeable from the 50cc up to the 125cc engines.
Just responded to your other message. Being you have a full harness you can start where it connects to the battery and work your way to the front. Thats the easiest way to figure it out. Like i mentioned if you get stuck you can always send us a message and we will try to help.
can you help me plz i have a 50 or 70cc china atv the bolts or bolt that holds the front of the motor in place are missing is it one long bolt or 2 bolts
All coils hook to a sparkplug at the end of the coil lead(the big wire). You may have the part you need confused with something else. You can message us on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13 and send a pic and we will try to help.
I’m working on a meerkat 50 cc and I got a new starter new CDI new rectifier new battery new carburetor new gas tank. New spark plug wire new spark plug ignition wire. I’m getting no spark. Could it be a stater issue I can push start. But I hurt my back when I was younger and it’s re-injured now
If it push starts its not the stator. If its not cranking at all i would think starter solenoid, since you didn't mention replacing that. If it has power and ground going to it via the small wires when pressing the start button and no cranking it may be bad. You can also jump the two bolt terminals briefly and bypass everything to make sure the starter is working and will start that way. Caution that it may spark when jumping the two terminals as you are basically connecting battery straight to the starter with whatever you jump the terminals with(screwdriver). If there is no power or ground at the small solenoid wires you may have a wiring problem or bad start switch. Hope that helps you out
@@FireAndGasoline new starter solenoid as well but you may be right The ignition key switch is acting up it won’t work when press the start button unless you press down the wire to the connector. I’ll replace that and go from there I’ll keep checking for loose wires thank you for responding trying to get this ready for my sons birthday on the 21. So the pressure is on LOL thank you again.
@@FireAndGasoline hey buddy so I put a new carb and a new throttle cable because the throttle cable seem to be getting stuck on idling high. Now I’m having an issue where it idols high and takes off by itself. Thinking it may be a cracked air hose or some kind of vacuum leak what do you think?
@@flexapex9801 do you have the slide in correctly? They can fit in two ways but only one way will it close all the way. If not maybe the idle adjustment screw.
Is there a way to get it running without a CDI box? Please reply to my comment below on what I should do to my red Tao Motor/Rambo quad it has no power and the brake lights do not come on with a fully charged battery. Also the fuse is good
Yes it can/will run without the voltage regulator/rectifier however it wont charge the battery. This one can start just about all summer without needing to charge the battery. Its not hard to hook up if you want it though. The white and yellow wires from stator go to the rectifier, then from the rectifier green wire to ground and the red wire to battery with fuse at the battery connection. Thanks for watching!
I have been trying to get my gy6 buggy to get spark but every time my ignition coil gets ground the wire(black and yellow) going into the coil loses all power?? I am really in a pickle and need some help. Any advice?
New cdi? Is there voltage from the stator? Should be around 50vAC on the red/black wire. Coil bad? Kill switch grounded when not supposed to? Bad grounds?
Yes the red wire is from the stator to give power to the cdi box and the blue is from the pickup coil it sends signal to the cdi box. Thanks for watching!
I've got one, and when I press on the starter it clicks, or it does one wind and stops. If I hold it down it clicks like crazy but doesn't try to start. Any ideas?
Sounds like the battery is low and not putting out enough voltage. I would try charging it up and see if that works. If not you can message me on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13.
The start button and kill switch i have a video on. The charging system you take the remaining 2 wires from the stator and run them to the rectifier. Then green from rectifier to ground and red from rectifier to batter+ with fuse at battery end of wire.
besides it still might get spark... and after u check resistance... nd unsure of voltage while cranking... any other signs the stator is definitely bad? and Relly need cleared up if 8 pole and 6 pole stators need different flywheels? and even if its 150cc bike, its ok if flywheel reads 125cc engraved in front?? and i COMPLETELY gree with EVERYONE!! FINALLY THE BEST MOPED TROUBLESHOOTING VIDEO EVER MADE!!! TYTY!!
anyone help? i have a 260cc chinese scooter it had the 8 pin cdi. wires a mess so had to rewire. i have a 4 wire cdi it runs. but it has a rev limiter. i need a performance cdi but heres the problem im running into. what pins go to what from cdi? no internet usable info. it has a trigger plus an minus. a coil plus minus hot in. its a 4 wire. 6 wire can not find info
anthony Epperson, the two yellows are for the charging system, they go to the rectifier if you have one. The other stator wire powers the cdi box wich would be the red wire. Ground is ground, and you need the wire from the pickup coil to send signal to the cdi (should be blue, blue/white, blue/yellow). You can pull the side cover off to see if that pickup coil is there and possibly the wire broke. If so you can probably fix it or you will need to purchase one if you do not have it. If you need more help you can message me on Instagram or Facebook @fireandgasoline13 Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
I bought a kids ATV and the guy told me it needed a carburetor and had a new one. I put a new 50 dollar plug and go harness and new battery on it I changed the 6 pole stator and pick up that came with the harness. It had a hacked harness on it but I wasn’t getting spark. Now with the new electrical parts that came with harness I still have no spark. When I changed the stator I noticed the inside of the magneto was covered with rust I guess I should of checked that first and I cleaned it up and now you can see the 6 contacts on the magneto. Here is my problem I hooked everything up and noticed besides the wires with plug that come out of engine pluged into harness as it’s supposed to but I have 2 more sleeved coming out also with bullet connectors a blue and red also I have a plug from new carb I believe is electric choke but have a couple 2 wire plugs. I also have the same CDI as you I bought before the harness and until I can figure were the blue and red go to I still can’t get spark. I have good compression but wires not plugged in. I do know the blue is connected to the pick up and it’s been about a month now since I work 6 days a week 10 to 12 hour days it’s getting hard after work to mess with. Any ideas? Thanks
The other wires coming out beside the stator are neutral and reverse indicator sensor. All they do it tell you its in neutral or reverse via the indicator lights. You can message us on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13 and we can try and help you get it going. That way you can send pic of what you have and the wiring.
Ok I don’t have neutral or reverse so I guess I leave those wires. If the gap on the pick up to magneto is off a little will that affect getting spark?. I’ve seen were the size of a business card is close enough . I also have a 2 lead plug from carburetor and 2 open 2 lead plugs what colors to they go to?
Quick question my man, it doesn’t look like you have a starter relay, so do I need one? Also, for the killswitch.... do I hook that bad boy up or what do I have to do once I get it running to stop?

I hooked mines up the way you did to test and the bike started right up but I accidently crossed the green and the yellow wire when I started taping the wire and now it's back to not starting
Great to hear it started right up. Unfortunately you may have burnt up the cdi or stator. You can check the stator for ac voltage output with a multimeter. If you have the same cdi it should be lighting the green light if its sending power.
I would start by checking all your wiring for something unplugged or broken. Then go from there. Could also be a bad ignition switch or kill switch. You can test the kill wire on the cdi to make sure it isn't being grounded when it shouldn't be. If you need more help you can message us on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13.
Shawn McKenzie not sure where you can get a manual but most of these quads are similar. Do you have a cdi or spark issue? If you give me a little more info on what you are trying to repair i may be able to help you.
1sick pocketbike that im not sure on. It's possible because they are very similar i think the main difference is the piston size. If its something you have just laying around you could try.
yes it a red cat dpx 200 I have the frame and all of the engine parts the wiring on it is so bad. I know I need some new wiring parts. This is my first time putting a quad back together
Shawn McKenzie as long as you have the stator, pick-up coil(in with the stator), coil, and a cdi box it will run. You can message me on Instagram or Facebook @fireandgasoline13 that way you can send pics of what you have and go from there.
You do not need an ignition switch unless you want it. In another video i show wiring the kill switch, if you wish to wire the ignition switch into it, you can connect it before the kill switch in the same circuit. If you just have an atv you do not have a key for it can be rewired but i would need to know the wire colors and kind of atv you are working on. You can message me on Facebook at FireAndGasoline13 that way you can send pics.
@@FireAndGasoline awesome thanks for the info i sawpped a new motor for my Chinese ATV but the plugs where not the same to connect the original wiring. So i think im going to try to do this and go from there not good with electrical anything lol wish me luck awesome video
Luke Houston you're welcome! It works on anything with an AC cdi system. You can tell the AC cdi boxes from DC cdi boxes by the size. AC cdi boxes are small and DC cdi boxes are much bigger. If you get stuck and need extra help you can message me on Facebook or Instagram.
Thats great to hear, thanks for watching! Most likely the cable is rusted inside. Sometimes you can get them to free up. There will be 2 screws on the top of the thumb throttle. Remove them and disconnect the cable. You can now tell if it is the cable or thumb throttle by moving each once disconnected. If the thumb throttle moves and cable don't then you will have to remove the cable the rest of the way. There is a large nut you turn by hand at the top of the carb that the cable goes through. It may be stuck you can use pliers but be careful not to break it. Once that is out (the throttle slide will come out with it) remove the cable from the throttle slide by compressing the spring and pulling the cable from the bottom. Once the cable is out soak it in pb blaster or some kind of rust penatrant for a day or so and it should loosen up. You can find new cables on ebay for around $15 if you dont want to go through all that. And reassembling it is just in reverse. Hope that helps you out. If you need more assistance you can message Fireandgasoline13 on Facebook.
The throttle is a dirrect mechanical connection via the throttle cable, no electronics involved. It can only be 1 of 3 things most commonly the cable, second the thumb throttle and third the throttle slide inside of the carburetor. Your thumb pushes the thumb throttle, which pulls the throttle cable that pulls up the throttle slide to open it up. Its pretty simple so easily repaired.
FireAndGasoline Thank you for all the in depth info, I'm new to small engines. And you were right about the throttle, a couple firm pushes and it came loose. Now the issue I'm having is it will only fire up with the help of some gas sprayed into the carb, and it only runs for a couple of seconds. I know that fuel is getting to the carb. I'm thinking ill have to take apart the carburetor but if I'd rather not if there's some other solution. thanks for all the help!
The 110 mL motor that's on his quad now has a shifter and he can't use a shifter and locks up into gear from Ford to neutral so he wants just a plain automatic one the thing is is the wiring when I rewire it by the new motor online and try to put it in is the rewiring I wanna make sure I do I'll try to find somebody here in Connecticut
Typically they are all similar. Blue or blue/some other color to pickup coil. Red or red/some other color to the stator. Yellow or black/yellow to ignition coil. Greens are ground. And typically grey or black for the kill switch. Its all pretty much explained in the video. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
thks I just bought one mine actually ran but I had all these excess wires so I started chopping it up and there is where my problem began I set it aside for a while and lost some parts but thks for the help I appreciate it
I did this step by step and it still wont fire, I've had it running twice for about 1 min each time. I did this and now my coil has no spark. The wire going to the coil gets spark but the coil isn't doing its job

If you have the factory harness i would just recommend just replacing with a similar factory style. These cdi boxes have been proven to be inconsistent in how long they last. @@christananderson1506 probably the same. I cant say for sure, thats something you'll have to test and see.

Can you use the starter switch to start
Yes thats in the second part of this series.
Do you have a diagram I could go off of? And is there no solenoid? I have a full wiring harness and I cannot figure it out.
Just responded to your other message. Being you have a full harness you can start where it connects to the battery and work your way to the front. Thats the easiest way to figure it out. Like i mentioned if you get stuck you can always send us a message and we will try to help.
can you help me plz i have a 50 or 70cc china atv the bolts or bolt that holds the front of the motor in place are missing is it one long bolt or 2 bolts
o and how can i tell what size my little atv is if it helps i got a pz19mm carb and it fit and works but was not the same carb that came with it
How can I tell or determine if the stator is bad or not if I buy the CDi will it still work
Would you know what kind of coil I would need to order only ones I can find take a spark plug but mine doesn't have a place for a spark plug
All coils hook to a sparkplug at the end of the coil lead(the big wire). You may have the part you need confused with something else. You can message us on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13 and send a pic and we will try to help.
Awesome thanks . I got mine running buy doeant have power to go but it keep runing idle
@@flexapex9801 no problem always glad to help.
Hey buddy I was going to try this but I think the wires are a different color and will this still work the lights and everything
Is there a way to get it running without a CDI box? Please reply to my comment below on what I should do to my red Tao Motor/Rambo quad it has no power and the brake lights do not come on with a fully charged battery. Also the fuse is good
It will not run without a cdi box.
Does this work without a voltage regulator?
Yes it can/will run without the voltage regulator/rectifier however it wont charge the battery. This one can start just about all summer without needing to charge the battery. Its not hard to hook up if you want it though. The white and yellow wires from stator go to the rectifier, then from the rectifier green wire to ground and the red wire to battery with fuse at the battery connection. Thanks for watching!
Did you use a 5 plug or 6plug cdi? Does it matter which one?
I used a 5 pin in this video a 6 pin work similar but the pinout is different. Either one can work as long as its an AC cdi box and not a DC cdi.
I have been trying to get my gy6 buggy to get spark but every time my ignition coil gets ground the wire(black and yellow) going into the coil loses all power?? I am really in a pickle and need some help. Any advice?
I did everything that you said and I still haven't gotten a spark any suggestions?
New cdi? Is there voltage from the stator? Should be around 50vAC on the red/black wire. Coil bad? Kill switch grounded when not supposed to? Bad grounds?
You added the red wire to the red and black, is that from the stator, the exciter coil?
Yes the red wire is from the stator to give power to the cdi box and the blue is from the pickup coil it sends signal to the cdi box. Thanks for watching!
I made my wiring harness for both my 125cc dirt bike and ATV. A pain in the ass
It can be, and the more you add to it the more complicated it gets. For basic start, run, and stop wiring it's pretty simple. Thanks for watching!
I have a yellow white black red blue white coming out of the stator how can I hook that up to get my bike running
Phil Hansen, message me on Facebook and i will try to help you. Fireandgasoline13
Mine had the same problem turned out I when I changed my starter I forgot to put a grand from the Starter to the motor
I'd like to incorporate the start and kill switch as well as the charging could you explain how I would do that
The start button and kill switch i have a video on.
TYTY!!
Thanks, good video, saved me some $$$.
Awesome, glad it helped!
All this would apply to a 110cc?
Correct
Can you ride it with jumper
I suppose you could if you had a way to secure it. However it dosen't need the battery to stay running, only to start it.
anyone help? i have a 260cc chinese scooter it had the 8 pin cdi. wires a mess so had to rewire. i have a 4 wire cdi it runs. but it has a rev limiter. i need a performance cdi but heres the problem im running into. what pins go to what from cdi? no internet usable info. it has a trigger plus an minus. a coil plus minus hot in. its a 4 wire. 6 wire can not find info
Message me on Facebook at Fireandgasoline13 so you can send pics and I'll try to help.
how do you hook up a harness that only has stater. ground.and two yellow coming out of engine
anthony Epperson, the two yellows are for the charging system, they go to the rectifier if you have one.
Tristin Hoffmaster You dont need a relay you need a solenoid. I have another vid that explains all that, wiring the kill switch and start button.
FireAndGasoline thanks a lot man appreciate the help. Trying to get the quad running for my boy. Been researching a lot, and this really helped!

Thank you for this video, very helpful
Thanks for watching Cody, check out some of our other vids.
I have a linhai 260 and just put brand new clutches in it and now it is not getting no fire
Does this work with the black factory cdi as well
Yes it does but the wire colors may be a bit different. If you need help you can message me on Facebook at FireAndGasoline13
would that work on a 200cc lifan?
Yes it should, anything with similar wiring could be wired that way.
What part of the state are you win any winners Connecticut like the motor put into my grandsons ATV Armand
I dont exactly understand your question, but we are from Ohio. This wiring works with pretty much all the China atvs and also some older hondas.
With my key and ignition button not being hooked up how do i get the fourwheeler to turn off???
The black/white wire from your cdi goes to a switch then from that switch to ground. When that wire is grounded there will be no spark.
does any body know anything about a red cat DPX 200 i need a break down manual
Shawn McKenzie not sure where you can get a manual but most of these quads are similar. Do you have a cdi or spark issue? If you give me a little more info on what you are trying to repair i may be able to help you.
you got my pocketbike running thanks alot man!!
1sick pocketbike Awesome! Thats great to hear, thanks for watching!
i got a question can you put a 50cc driveshaft in a 125cc engine?
1sick pocketbike that im not sure on. It's possible because they are very similar i think the main difference is the piston size. If its something you have just laying around you could try.
thanks im going to try it!
1sick pocketbike the way i usually look at things is, if its already broken you cant break it trying. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
yes it a red cat dpx 200 I have the frame and all of the engine parts the wiring on it is so bad. I know I need some new wiring parts. This is my first time putting a quad back together
Shawn McKenzie as long as you have the stator, pick-up coil(in with the stator), coil, and a cdi box it will run. You can message me on Instagram or Facebook @fireandgasoline13 that way you can send pics of what you have and go from there.
where is the ignition wiring? we are trying to bypass it by using a switch but we dont know what wires to connect the switch too.
Mine is doing the same I got a battery for it but when I try to Start the starter motor keeps spining
Spinning but not cranking the engine or? Message me on Facebook and i will help you get it figured out.
Love the simple test and start method. You are brilliant!!!! Is that really 50CC or 122 CC? Looks huge.
It is a 50cc, but the wiring is mostly the same up to the 125cc. Glad the video was able to help you out. Thanks!
So how do i use a battery with this setup
Just like normal, watch our 2nd video on the chinese atv.
My spark plug won't spark unless it touch's the positive in battery what wrong with it?
Mine has 2 sets of plugs coming from motor not one u got a video for that?
The second plug is for the neutral/ reverse indicator lights, not needed to run.
@@FireAndGasoline awesome thanks for the info i sawpped a new motor for my Chinese ATV but the plugs where not the same to connect the original wiring. So i think im going to try to do this and go from there not good with electrical anything lol wish me luck awesome video

I bought the one u did cdi box
@@hectorlira8176 as long as you haven't chopped up the harness and its all intact that should work.
so the green on the CDI is a ground?
Luke Houston yes the green on cdi is ground for the cdi.
FireAndGasoline awesome thanks a lot and thanks for the fast reply and this all applies to 2 strokes also? as long as it runs off a CDI?
Luke Houston you're welcome! It works on anything with an AC cdi system. You can tell the AC cdi boxes from DC cdi boxes by the size. AC cdi boxes are small and DC cdi boxes are much bigger. If you get stuck and need extra help you can message me on Facebook or Instagram.
FireAndGasoline okay I bought one exactly like the one I'm the video it is just for a 2 stroke but the same wire colors and everything
Luke Houston, yup should be good to go!
thanks man I go and try it. schort and simple no blabla look at me
Paul Smeets Thanks for watching!
i got my atv to start with this but my thumb throttle lever is locked, any ideas?
Ok ill try that thanks! i wasn't sure if it was because of bypassing the key and everything because its been so long since i actually started it
The throttle is a dirrect mechanical connection via the throttle cable, no electronics involved.
It sounds like the carburetor will need cleaned. Its also pretty simple, only 2 bolts holding it on. I have a video on cleaning it that should help.
That's your problem it's a Ford
I have a little 110cc quad also I hooked up the cdi and it cranks so I just need some starter fluid in the carb, what do you think?
I would try cleaning the carburetor, should do the trick.
how do you know what wires coming out of the cdi box go where
Typically they are all similar. Blue or blue/some other color to pickup coil. Red or red/some other color to the stator. Yellow or black/yellow to ignition coil. Greens are ground. And typically grey or black for the kill switch. Its all pretty much explained in the video. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

I did this step by step and it still wont fire, I've had it running twice for about 1 min each time. I did this and now my coil has no spark. The wire going to the coil gets spark but the coil isn't doing its job
Coil bad? Wiring wrong? This method definitely works as long as all the parts used are good working parts.

If you have the factory harness i would just recommend just replacing with a similar factory style. These cdi boxes have been proven to be inconsistent in how long they last. I just chose this one because i had no wiring or the original plug for the cdi, this one had wires coming from it and it worked. I found it on ebay, sorry but i dont have a link.
