Loved having our umbrellas on the CT last year, not so much for rain (hardly any storms), but for the intense sun. We have to Gossamer Gear and the compact Six Moons Design. Both did well, wind can be a challenge though. We just got back from the Indian Peaks Wilderness and ran into a thunderstorm with a downpour of hail, both umbrellas held up well.

would you recommend one over the other?

@@manpreneurme2324 the Gossamer Gear umbrella is a more solid design, especially when it comes to wind. However, it doesn't pack down as small as the Six Moons Design. Give and take. If we had to choose, we would go with the Gossomer Gear. That said, they're both great, lightweight umbrellas.

@@MADHippiesLife THANKS, I'll just have to choose at some point!!

@@PersonalArtWorkshop, it was a spilt decision for us, hence we got both and are happy with them. Wind is the foe here, outside of that, they both preform well. It came down to personal preference, Debbie liked a more solid umbrella (Gossamer Gear) and the ability to secure it to her pack easily for hands free movement. Miller liked the compact design for a more minimalist design (Six Moons) for storage and a more weight savings. Hope this helps.

Sorry for my delayed response! Gossamer Gear sells an umbrella clip that works well as long as it’s not too windy.

enjoyed your video Rolf‼️ I also have a hands-free trekking umbrella [Euroschirm] and used it a lot last year in France on the heatwave days walking the Via Podiensis pilgrim trail ... my Gossamer Gear clamp set arrived in the mail today and I’m looking forward to putting it through its paces

@@bronwenperry2245 I've been eyeing the euroshirm as it's cheap here in Europe. Have you compared it to the gossamer gear?

@@PersonalArtWorkshop Bonjour Raphael, sadly I only have the Euroschirm ... but I know that the Gossamer Gear umbrella is a good deal lighter BUT it is not telescopic so for me [vertically-challenged] that means it is tricky to carry in the side pocket of my backpack ... the umbrella clamp is very good however and I can use it with my Euroschirm 😊

@@PersonalArtWorkshop I do not have access to the Gossamer Gear umbrella BUT I do know that it is a good deal lighter than the Euroschirm «Telescope Hands-free» .... however the Gossamer Gear umbrella does not have the telescopic handle feature ... so it is much longer when collapsed ...
