I've been considering some different responses to rain and sun on the trail, and I like the versatility and functionality of an umbrella. Your experience and perspective is helpful - thank you

I’m happy to hear your new umbrella is working out for you. The old Golite had that stop button as well. So the Gossamer Gear model sounds identical to the original. The Six Moon design Silver shadow has the same shaft size as the original so it works perfectly with your clips. I really appreciate that useful tip. It’s so much better than the bungee tie downs.

“Validate your umbrella and what it’s telling you” 😂 I’ve never heard such great relationship advice in a gear video. My girlfriend should watch this!

Yes, I get that from my wife all the time, also "go take a hike."

Six Moons Designs also make some similar umbrellas as well as a little 'hands free' kit if you need such. I had mine for years and it has always worked great.

I did study the six moon when I replaced mine. Just wasn't sure of the shaft OD and if it would fit my hydration clips tight. Six Moon makes great products. Keep Smil'in

Everybody loves their half toothbrushes and toothpaste tablets, but I went ahead and neglected maintenance for long enough to just flat out have my stock chompers (what was left of them) removed and got a set of ultra thin acrylics. This simple move saved me 4 ounces. Better than that, I now just leave those at home for a total savings of almost half a pound. Of course, I now must pretend I'm mute when I pass folks on the trail, but I can still smile with my mouth closed. As far as umbrellas go, I just keep mine loose and do Mary Poppins dances all the day long. Cheers, man, enjoying your videos.

I have about 6-7 of those toothbrushes from Garage Grown Gear. I just leave them in hiker boxes when I get a chance. LOVE GGG. Thanks for the review.

You can also turn upside down when it rains to collect water.

is that a Kakwa I spy? Helped me make my decision on an umbrella. Kakwa 55 will be on the AT SOBO with me this year, and hopefully the GG umbrella as well. Thanks for the video.

Still like my Kakwa pack, very durable. Some wear at the bottom frame points, but I think Dan beefed that area up in the 2023 version. Keep Smilin'
