Also, just adding, that one genuine review from someone down-to-earth and a "normal" backpacker (person with a regular life, NOT a career backpacker type) means more to me than several from a more polished person who is monetized.
As soon as I opened the tube thingie and saw how long it was, I was so bummed out. I knew it wasn't going to work for me. It really is a very nice umbrella though. Thank you for checking out my little channel.
I was entertaining the idea of a shorter umbrella but my current one is a Christmas gift from my daughter so can’t give that one up just yet. The only way to get better at gear review videos is to do more of them! So, keep em coming!
Is yours the SMD Silver Shadow or the GG one? I don't seem to remember it sticking up super high in your pack. It sure did do its job though in that big ol storm! Good times. ❤
@@jetgirlhikes9155 I have the GG. It’s fairly long but I don’t know the exact size. Not so big that it sticks out obnoxiously past my pack though. Was SO thankful I had it on that trip!
You did fine! Guess you wouldn't like the umbrella I have, because it's also 25" long (Gossamer Gear). Luckily, it rides okay in my tall tent pocket (GG Mariposa pack). It is about an ounce heavier than the Rain Walker, but not enough heavier that I'm going to replace it anytime soon.
Yeah, the dimensions are the same, but I'm thinking the Mariposa must be a little taller pack. That's what Rebecca has too, and I don't remember her umbrella sticking up really high either.
Hey! Great to see another video from you! A trekking umbrella is definitely on my list of items I'd like to add to my gear list. Have you figured out how to set it up hands free like some other backpackers? There's another RUclipsr who has a channel, EarlyRiser_71 I believe, that prefers to just carry his by hand if I recall.
Hey Ross!! It feels good to be back sharing info. I've got some more stuff coming, life just gets busy, ya know? Edited cause I accidentally hit "send" to early. Lol I have tried hands free, but like the other guy said, I prefer to just carry it. I'll use just one trekking pole while I'm using the umbrella, and it's never been an issue. Hope things are well with you.
Hi JB! Very informative video! I agree you on the length. Umbrella's have their uses but i believe i would benefit more from and ul back pack camp chair. Just don't know which one to get. Do you happen to carry one on your over night hikes?
Hi Dan! Great to hear from you! I do carry a Helinox Chair Zero sometimes, but it depends on the trip. If I'm doing long mile days, it stays home. But if it's short days with more time hanging around camp, it's really nice to have and only weighs 1 lb.....not bad at all for a full on chair, highly recommend it. Thanks for following my channel, I always look forward to getting a comment from you.
Movie magic my friend! It's all about camera angle. LOL But honestly, I have cut back on my carbs and lost around 7 lbs, not a whole lot but I'm thrilled to hear it shows. Thank you so much!

Aww, thank you for calling me "normal". Nothing wrong with a little white lie when it makes someone's day.
@@jetgirlhikes9155 did you not see my quotation marks? ;) Normal is relative. Anyhow, normal or not, glad to know you.
You too. It's always nice to have some "normal" friends.
Seriously, thanks for sharing, I’ve been looking at umbrellas.
I would have never thought about the length. Very good point. Thank you!!

Nice review. Thank you for sharing. You have a wonderful day. Take care and looking forward to seeing you again soon
Aww, thank you. I always feel so awkward doing gear videos. Thank you for enduring the video. LOL

Cathy says hers is a GG umbrella and that it's also 25 inches long....and she also has the Mariposa.

Very nice review. It didn’t suck!
LOL!!! Thank you! (and thank you also for watching my "unsucky" review)
@@jetgirlhikes9155 I got their umbrella based on your review. Thanks again. You rock
Great to hear! Are you digging the umbrella?
@@jetgirlhikes9155 I haven’t actually had a chance to use it yet.
Would it match my camp shoes?
Maybe the snakeskin ones......
Did u lose a bunch of weight?
