I have wanted to be a student in parsons since the age of 9. I'm 13 and still dreaming but I simply can't afford it. I live in England but I will have to do the summer school
I don think it’s that bad of a problem bc England has very good fashion schools
yeah England has Central Saint Martins. It has been my dream to go there, but I can't afford it yet. I have been working and saving to go there.

I came to this video after watching 'Project Runway' just curious what it looks like & what is all taught there or if there are competitions there or what else.
I have a lotttt of questions do look at this only if you have time 😂😂. How many courses do you take in your first year? Is the financial aid decent? Does the school offer need-based and merit scholarships? My mom wants me to be valedictorian for college🙄 but I’m pretty sure the school is like other non-traditional colleges and unis but is there valedictorians and salutatorians? On a scale from one to ridiculous how hard is the course load? Where’s the best place to dorm? And which dorm site is closest to the academic building? Are there a lot of cross/double majors for example I’m would like to be a creative writing major and go to the school of design for art as well. Can you dorm by yourself? Are there a lot of scholarships offered?

Hi! I just got my acceptance letter from parsons, but I’m still uncertain if it’s the best choice for me. SAIC and Parsons are currently my top choices, and I was wondering if you knew anything about the Fine Arts/illustration department? These are the two majors that I’m strictly interested in, and my one concern for Parsons is that it is not as well known for it’s studio arts as it is for design.
I was also accepted for the same program! I've already committed so I'm super bias towards Parsons so I can't really help you lol. I think bottom line what makes parsons a good school is how there's an emphasis on ideas and storytelling more than just traditional technical skills so if that's what you want they're a great choice.

Yes! I graduated from Jefferson in Bloomington :) Parsons was one of my dream schools too, I NEVER thought I would get in, so when I did, I ran through my house screaming at 11 pm! 😂 Then I kept reading the email and found out I got scholarship, so I ran through the house screaming again, and at that point everyone had woken up and thought there was a fire or thief or something lol

do you take a minor at parsons? I'm wondering how a minor would work for a first year and if it's something you can even do in first year haha
Yup! At Parsons you start your minor your sophomore year. During first year you can take classes outside of the first year curriculum, but honestly, the first year schedule is so crazy that I wouldn't recommend it. I'll be starting my minor in Fashion Communication next year :)

That's awesome Abhishek!! Congratulations on getting into the SDM program. 🙌 You're gonna have loads of fun. I had a couple friends who took that program and I took a couple courses as well. There are a ton of ways to meet really cool people i.e. through classes, even gym classes which parsons has :) dorm life, school events, organizations etc! The social life is what you make of it!! How old do you have to be to study at parsons and is it expensive
I don't believe there's an age requirement, you just need to have a high school diploma as it is a university. It is more expensive than many universities in the States as it's private rather than public. The exact cost of tuition can be found on the New School website, but keep in mind that you may need to budget in extra for living expenses and materials
what kinda macbook is required? ik it has to be a macbook pro but does it matter what inch?
MacBook Pro so it has enough processing power to run smoothly as Creative Cloud and other design software greatly slows down computers. I think no earlier than 2017 but I could be wrong. Most people have the 15”, I would recommend getting the 15” so you can see details, the 13” is a bit small for design work

sammantha lee Haha definitely still exists at Parsons! Everyone has a very unique personal style, which is awesome and makes for cool collaborations!
Hey are you staying in an economy or standard double?
I'm staying in a standard double, but I know people who have economy doubles. Economy doubles are VERY small, standard doubles are small but not awful, my suitemates have a premium double, and that's what I would recommend.
Why is it so super expensive?
college is expensive, art school is even more expensive. parsons is one of the most recognizable names in regards to fashion school as well.

CASHKES For the 2018 school year, tuition was $48,600 and housing averaged $22,000 for a total of $70,600 per year
