jamesha175 were you hired by the seller to make this post? The bolts screwed into the heel holding the cracked neck diminish the value of this guitar greatly. It‘s not a feature...
Gretev1 you’re saying a cracked neck diminishes the value of a vintage guitar? Shocking. Sarcasm aside, my comment had absolutely nothing to do with value. The word I used was “cooler.” Meaning I think it’s a great story. Either way the price tag on the guitar is over $400K, so I won’t be buying it!
@@Gretev1 "hired by the seller" hilarious! no, i agree with the 1st guy that the screws make it cooler and i stand by my statement that this guitar probably wouldn't be here today without them
jamesha175 Ok I am just surprised anyone would find a broken neck a cool feature. I was also suspicious because this very channel uploaded this guitar approx. a month ago with the presenter commenting on the broken neck and selling it as a feature. The comment section was littered with people making fun of this sly marketing tactic of an essentially „broken“ item. The video was promptly taken down. I did not mean to come off as condescending.
That was awesome to witness!! Of course the first time I ever saw one was Dave Davies.. of The Kinks fame ... and that look made a certain lifelong impression.. It was so different looking than what all the other guys were playing.. That V just talks ROCK!! Thanks for sharing ECG’s
58 Flying V and a Vox AC30.....what more is there to say? Awesome presentation and awesome playing. Thank you so much. Fun fact, at a certain point in 59, they changed the pots to go from 300K to 500K, so when listening to these guitars, note that you'll hear a difference of tone from the 58's and 59's
But they have the most beautiful warm silky bluesy sound on the upper frets, especially through a Marshall type amp on the verge of breakup. I've often wondered if the higher frets being in the middle of the guitar more or less and those long "fins" are beneficial to resonance, kinda like a wooden tuning fork shaped guitar. You gotta try one sometime, play 14th fret and up through a hot amp with the volume rolled back. Best blues sound ever.
I can’t stop smiling listening to this combo and hearing the history of this particular guitar. Love the back story of the home grown repair. Looks and sounds great, amazing pick of the day, Thanks!
thank you for playing some rhythms man everybody always just shreds on these guitars reviews demos no one can hear the rhythm thanks dude for doing this it's really cool of you
a former coworker of mine is Lonnie Macks brother-in-law and he had the serial number 7 Flying V at his house for awhile shortly after Mack passed away. I don't know if he's still got it or not
@ 2:00. "so right across the board, this is in all original condition despite Don's [ghastly, hideous] little back yard repair there." If there ever was a more contradictory statement, I haven't heard it! This is precisely why people don't trust vintage guitar dealers. They can be way over the top dishonest.
Is this for sale at Carter’s now or was at Carter’s before? Just watched a video with Bolinger playing this at Carter’s. Checked history, Carter’s vid is from 2019 so I guess it was there before.
With interest rates as low as they are right now you could have that guitar for as low as $1,939/mo with only $82,000 down. That loan could be paid off in a mere 30 years.
J S there are more vintage guitars in existence than gigs that employ guitarists who can afford one of the rarest and most expensive guitars ever created. The math just would not add up
It wasn't even played properly in this video. If you're going to show off a rare masterpiece like this you play some classic tunes from the era, exactly as they were played on the records, to give the modern viewer a listen to the tone of the original classic guitar playing original classic songs in real time. That's the magic.
Ivan Julian But considering they didn’t sell and were disco’d quickly maybe nobody played them back then in this classic style you speak off...lol These came to the fore in the late 60’s and 70’s playing rock n roll. That was exactly what that guitar should have been doing.
Epiphone made a wonderful reissue, bought mine new for about 300 bucks discounted. Stock pickups are underwhelming but slap on some goldcover PAF's and it's almost indistinguishable in sound from the original. I see them for about 600-700 bucks from time to time, because I'm thinking about getting a spare. I feel the value may increase at some point, beyond what it already has. Korean made ones are the best from the 2000-2007 or so.
What kind of Demo is that with the guitar crancked up like that ? You can make a chinese Epiphone sound the same way with all that distortion and some guy playing like Slash. Do a Demo with someone playing clean, llike Les Paul or Chet Atkins or Peter Green and then you'll see how the guitar sounds for Real
generally v body shapes give off a more punchy, rhytmic but not as deep compared to say les paul style which willie adler uses.. switch in some high gain pickups in there and itll slay laid to rest, vs’ are the most metal guitars ever 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Indeed. The Vox screams

Unbelievable tone coming out of that VOX and Flying V!! Well played!
Oh dear lord. The wood shop repair makes it even cooler! And those tones... what a rare and important guitar.

That Vox sounds amazing!!! Also AYYYE TEXAS!
Woah what a playing

I really appreciate seeing and hearing these instruments.

What perfect union, the Flying V and Vox!
Thanks for letting Aaron do that demo! He really always gets the most out of those guitars. And this one's just ... phenomenal!

WOW…. KILLER DEMO !!!
Nice repair👍
make the demos a longer than the talkin!!! i love what you have to say man but i love even more what y’all have to play! great amp and guitar combos!
Lovely sound thru that AC30. I shove mine through a MK1 Blackstar HT Stage 100
I love the look of the string though on these v's. Stop tail v's always look incomplete to me. Such a cool vibe
What makes these V models aesthetically pleasing is the V where the strings go through the body and the in-line knobs IMHO.

Great story about the guitar. The thing sounds fabulous! So the big question: did you get the $410K for it, or was it something less?
What is the riff that plays in the beginning called ?
Sounds amazing!

What are the smaller Marshall amps in the background? They look smaller than the Bluesbreaker amp next to one of them.

Holy hell. Where's the fuzz coming from?
$410,000 for a Flying V with two lag screws bored into the back of the neck?!!! They're out of their F**king minds!
I just get reissues and be satisfied I'm getting 95% or more of the tone for 10% or less of the price!
It'd be about twice the price without the bolts
I'm sure they would price it at $800,000. Fools and their money....
@@jonmorris9645 I agree with your point, but reissues would be 1% of the price of something like this.

killer tone
Aaron smokes that V.
How does it stay in tune??
Should the bridge be nylon
The amp sounds incredible. I sold my ac4hw because it sounds boxy but this has none of that
I like Clean as much as the next guy but, thats how you put a 58 Flying V through her Paces.........
Nicely done. She's a Beauty 🎸💚
Nice
5:50 gives me Joe Bonamassa vibes.
Joe has the same 58 flying v lol
someone give this guy a BC Rich lol. geez. I don't think he touched the volume knob.
Always great to see a V. Too bad about the bolted on neck....😥
What pick ups are in it ?
1958 Gibson PAFs. What else would they be?
Timothy H Ingham sorry mister I know fucking everything.
Nice guitar
That sounds like rock and/or roll.
Tone is in the resale value
Monster guitar player
wow
The V is on reverb for...£327,957,39...I nearly clicked add to cart 😂
Looks like the same guitar that Pete Townshend used for “All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes” LP. 👍🏻
That sounded glorious. Worth the price? No but hey if you've got the cash why not? I'd buy one if I was extremely wealthy cuz why not?
Screws not Bolts.
Borderline religious experience ✌️
Wish these didn't just go to sit in collections. That guitar needs to make music on stage. Shame instruments get locked away

I hope the demo comes in and out while the talking happens

They had to "cut" the part of the video where "The V" had to "Have a Cigarette" after being "Romped" by Aaron Hiebert(RUclips rules)
I like the history and specs part better than the playing.
Aaron’s playing is worth the price of the guitar.
Always stellar.
