Lads, On the day of the Beatles Ed Sullivan Performance. I don't know where I read this or who said it but someone was quoted as saying. "As we got closer to the broadcast it was organised chaos people running around everywhere. But in the eye of this storm were the Beatles and they were completly calm just sitting and waiting and they did'nt appear to have any nerves at all." Thanks for the memories. Cheers, Chris Perry.

Thanks so much for this episode! I love hearing Al and Bruce talk about their experiences with the Beatles and the impact on the country in 1964. Glad to have Things We Said Today back after a long break….was beginning to experience withdrawals but at least there were older episodes to go back to and review. Thanks again!

Great podcast, gentlemen! This is the kind of Beatles information that is precious and not found in books. Real life experience of this band. Cheers! Keep 'em coming!

This is one of your best episodes ever! Thank you! I was 10 when I saw the Beatles on the first Ed Sullivan show, so everything Allan, Bruce and Al said rang true to my own experience. It was so exciting when a new Beatle record came out, and I lived in southeastern NH so I could pick up all the top 40 Boston AM stations, which were fiercely competitive to be the first to play a new Beatle song, both singles and songs on albums. They used to overlay voices saying, for example, "WBZ exclusive" throughout a new song so other stations couldn't tape and "steal" their exclusive lol!

Thank you for sharing such great moments. My brother and I were little but, we were rockin out to the greatest band on that night then and now also, our parents. We used to have polaroid pictures from black and white tv that night.

Kenny Michaels saw Harrison in 1974 and Paul in 1976. That’s amazing

When you talk about temporary senoir moments . I call "skipping a groove" reminds me of the moments when my strereo needle would skip on my album

So glad you guys are back! I had a feeling that the absence had something to do with Allan’s book. No worries. Also, love the new logo.

With all due respect to Bruce Spizer, it’s often unwise to practice absolutism when making statements as there often can be exceptions. Bruce stated here that The Beatles never fell into the trap of rewriting songs as was the practice of other pop/rock artists of the time. And yet I believe it was Lennon who stated that Yes It Is was an attempt to rewrite This Boy. Whether he stated this or not, the resemblance is undeniable.
