this is why Character Demos are a thing. it would help test out if you like that said character in the first place. it also helps on what should be the squad for that character to really shine. Ex. Ellen goes perfect with Sokaku who is a A-rank and much more accessible than Lycanon who is a 5-star. if you want to get butler dog, go right ahead. just remember that is even more pulls you need to spend in order to get that comp. Third slot can be anything tbh. Another f2p example: I am currently running Nicole/Corin/Billy as my go-to team to get all three synergy bonuses. Billy may seem unnecessary, but look at it this way. you got a CCer (Nicole), a burst DPS (Corin) and a rather dodgy Sub DPS that knows how to space (Billy). hasn't really failed me yet. and if it does, it just means i need to put in more resource to make the team stronger or know how to dodge.
The thing with burnout tho… ZZZ is the first Gacha game where I can play at my own pace without something in the back of my head telling me to rush thing… and that’s crazy since I’ve been in gacha game loop since Honkai impact3rd come out (probably 10 year by now). I feel like it’s a proper game first and gacha second
Don't worry, at some point down the line you'll feel pressured to play more efficiently so that you can tackle shiyu defense for the premium currency. It's funny, with wuthering waves I was mostly ambivalent about the game so I didn't care too much about efficiency or doing it's equivalent to SD in its ToA. But with ZZZ I enjoy the story and characters more so I'm trying to figure out if I can hit 40 before this week ends, which will require rushing through all of the available side quests if it's actually possible.
@@memetic_hazard it's definitely possible to get to level 40 considering I'm already level 38 (900 exp away from 39) If you're gonna sacrifice being chill and enjoying how you like to play just for pull currency, I'd honestly just suggest skipping the last or second last floor because you aren't losing that much, and you'll get to enjoy even non-meta units/comps (except for yk actually not synergistic comps)
Yeah, I used to be a "Ben is trash" guy, but I put together an all Belobog team and I don't have Grace, so I kinda had to learn to use him. And tbh, he is fairly hard to play, where he's slow and you have to combo with him right for him to actually do damage. But he's not bad I learned, so long as you use him right. He's kinda just in a bad spot because Anton is his main competition for the Belobog team, and he's one of the best A-ranks imo, and you have Piper for fire teams competing for 3rd slot usually, which means people are kinda just inclined to abandon him instead of learning how to utilize him. He's a cool guy, and when I do get Grace I'll honestly have to consider whether I want to use her or just keep him in, the guy kinda won me over a fair bit.
@@mguy5923 What really sold me on Ben is when I realized his additional boosts crit rate to whoever has his shield, great for attack units. That, and realizing his block is kinda like a free defensive assist you can always use even if you're out of assist points and energy. His utility is actually pretty cool, and it makes me excited for more defense characters
I've really been enjoying using Ben myself, and he was the first character I got the Dynamic Wallpaper though. Account wise, I was able to build a main team around him as my guaranteed S-rank unit I got was Soldier 11, a Fire element DPS. Chalk it up as well to my enjoyment of using Clara & Aventurine in HSR, but the whole Counterattack mechanic that Ben has is really enjoyable.

Some players also rely solely on tier lists when choosing characters they like, so they end up forgetting that a character's kit may or may not be something they enjoy.
Yeah no one likes Ben, but I have actually grown to enjoy him. Especially since I pulled a koleda earlier. I just love how they team up. They're both underleveled so I can't use them for the tougher content I have unlocked but they're just fine in normal missions!
Nah this is facts. Like I’m just not pulling for Jane even tho I want to. I have no anomaly to pair her with and I’m def not getting multiple S rank characters back to back for her faction passive especially with rumors of sons of Calydon and section 6 characters coming soon. If I would’ve pulled Grace as my free 5 star then it would be a whole different conversation.
The thing I notice about ZZZ is, we don't really need to get Meta character as long you follow the rule of Faction & Attribute properly. Making it suitable for player that doesn't care about competitiveness in gacha game.
That is a true statement for now, but we dont know what the future will hold for the difficulty, Hoyo might spike it out of spite since so many are saying it's too easy, but for now it's ok
i learn self restraint and resource management from playing gacha coz my luck is always so bad so i never rely on luck for anything. the 2nd point you made really hit home about what make me so annoy at other gacha players, that luck mentality is so dangerous in a gacha game. Another similar problem i see is "building pity", for the god sake don't build pity, the risk outweight than benefit by a large margin
@@KetteiThe7th_ and mhy love to put like BiS support/synergy along with rate up char, which we see time and time again since genshin to hsr so by building pity, they r basically shooting themselves in the foot coz now they either can't get the BiS support for their char or they have very low eidolon/cons/mind of them which is really bad. @@over9000lord lol 79 is far too high.. for me building pity is 30 - 50 pulls with 50 for sure being the absolute maximum.. more 30-40. and i don't see whats so wrong about that.. the likelihood that you pull your 5* within 30 or 40 pulls is so low that it almost never leads to you pulling a char you don't want.
this reminds me back when i pulled for kokomi in genshin, i pulled for her design and the jellyfish but many people dont like her. i value her for freeze teams, now i use her on hyperbloom too. it is very important you understand the value of the character you pull for your account so you dont regret, just like what mr kettei said.
to summarise when new character drop you can access their demo on the banner just try them first like spend like 10 minute in the demo and see if you actually lile it or not
That can work sometimes but not all the times, I have seen people who thought because of the demo they would enjoy the character long term but it didn’t turn out that way. So I would actually say play the demo and also watch other people use the character on teams that you can build and see if it looks good their too
If anything, it's worth doing the Demo for characters on the banner for the free rewards you get out of doing so, especially when those rewards include the material needed to buy more pulls
Also ZZZ is somewhat unique among Hoyo games, because characters have trial versions in some missions and because of the way the game is set up you can replay that mission as much as you want and in some you can even pick out supporting characters out of the ones you have!
Just to know, this also applies to most if not EVERY Gacha games to exists (Hoyoverse is the easiest to apply in here) P.S Genshin is probably most people "First Gacha Games" Also Another Tip, Don't Build Pity if you don't want the characters
I like this better than strictly "don't build pity." You should plan around pity, and figure out if you're ok with whatever RNJesus throws at you, but pulling on a banner with a Meh 5* is fine if getting them early doesn't impact long-term plans while building their associated 4*s does.
The taking break advice is truly the most important by far for me and others, I just remembered that I wanted yesterday to play, but felt sleepy so I said to myself “ I can just play tomorrow” and fell asleep, and today I feel more excited to be into the game and story
It can certainly be hard to take breaks from Gatcha games, especially with the Time Gated Energy regen ends up maxing out and you feel like you're "wasting time." This is part of the reason why I like the Energy Reserve runoff that HSR has. It allows you to gain even more Energy that you can use in the future, stocking up to 10x the normal amount. While HSR & Zenless are the only Gatcha games I've played, I would hope more Gatcha games utilize this
I think like this: characters i don't have, don't exist, only pull post pity guarantee, never pull weapons. When there is no story I daily farm for the next planned characters so i can max them immediately. This way I aways get what I want and can actually use them faster.
On the W engine topic - back in HSR I was on the side of avoiding light cone banners because if it's possible to clear end game content with 4 star units only, or even without gacha, then you don't need light cones, right? And the pulls you have to sink into the gacha to get the light cone are almost enough to get a new character. Well, I've been slowly changing my opinion on that over time. Which was why, when I got a fairly early Ellen pull I decided to go for her W engine, with no regrets. My rationale was that none of the upcoming characters really grabbed my attention and I planned on saving up for Miyabi who isn't likely to come anytime soon (I've heard 1.3). Also, building crit gear in HSR has been a pain and I still don't have any characters with decent crit gear at this point, though my dot and break teams have pretty good gear. And Ellen's engine has crit mainstats when none of the A rank engines I looked at had any. Especially important when her kit gives her crit damage but not much crit rate. Finally, as an action game as opposed to a turn based game I wanted a crutch for my first team to compensate for my lacking skill. Overall in general I'd still advise avoiding W engine banners because the joy of gacha games is getting new characters (just ignore the despair that is building new characters). But there's something to be said for getting yourself a strong start that will help carry you through the first few months of the game before the power creep settles in.
amen... i really hate these blank statements like "dont do it" when in reality it is situational and comes down to so many things: how old is your account? are you still trying to get a few teams running or is your account 8 months old already and you can beat anything anyway? how general is the weapon you are pulling for, can it work on upcoming chars as well? e.g. i can see ellen's weapon easily be top tier for future ice dps as well... how good are the 4* on the banner.. are there 4* weapons which could help out your account? so yeah like i said: weapon banners are situational: should f2p players and low spender feel pressured to go for the weapons ? for sure not. should players on a fresh account most likely prioritize a wider roster and more chars? i think so, yes do f2p players and low spenders need to avoid weapon banners like the plaque? nah, not really
The debate between "a small number of highly optimized characters" and "a wide variety of usable characters" is an important one to have wth yourself. Getting the character(s) you love the investment they need to clear whatever, whenver, super quickly can feel as good as getting a team centered around a new mechanic you've been unable to try before. Especially when it feels like ur working to get a gift for that one character whose story you really resonated with. But it can also become a boring road to burnout if you do that without a plan. Always like to see comments that add neuance to a discussion and give players who go looking more detailed advice.
Nice video with some great advice! I could especially relate to your burnout advice after playing Genshin impact for so long. The moment I stopped forcing myself to login everyday, the game became a lot more fun whenever I do decide to log in, and I’ll make sure to act accordingly if I reach that point in this game. 👍
I would say as another point. Remember to stop and smell the roses in this game. Sometimes stopping focus on the grind or banners or end game content and just looking around and appreciating the game is a really good way to avoid burnout. Take the time to try new team comps in the training room, do the hard mode time trials just to see if you can beat em for fun, or even just walk around the hub areas and talk to the NPC's. A lot of people get so lost in the Gatcha element of the game that they forget how fun the characters, story and worldbuilding are and how much passion and effort Hoyo puts into these games, and seeing it and appreciating it will do a lot to keep you wanting to play.
Needed that "take a break" tip. I always burn out in games cuz I played it until there's nothing left to do. And I still log in after finishing everything!
i'm very glad to have years of experience watching youtubers play gacha games, this way none of these are issues that i have. i am a hardcore f2p player, refusing to spend on anything, so there's no issue of missing out on characters since that's just inevitable. and i play only for fun and only the characters that i want, in zzz's case, it's anby and only anby, any other character is an extra and a bonus addition to the fun gaming i have with anby.
I would add a few more pieces of advice, based not only on ZZZ , but my overall "Hoyogames" experience. #1 Characters in Gatcha games are quite like cosmetics in others - nice to have them, but you probably don't need them, at least not everyone of them. Even the starting character can be pretty strong if you put some love into them, plus they - along with the other A-tiers - are 100% fine for story content. Probably it's not the thing if you're into high tier endgame - but you'll worry about it when you get there. Remember. Pull for the character if you like them, or have a good concept of how to utilize them in one of your teams, and yes - don't make my Genshin mistake - have more prepared teams than one to not to get bored. #2 There is no such thing as "wrong S-tier drop". Sure - it is painful if you wished for a certain limited character and got someone else, but still - a S-tier is a S-tier. Instead of beating yourself over a losing banner - focus on how to fit your new (or upgraded) character to your team's compositions. Been there, done that. As was told in the video - you might be extra lucky, but you won't win every banner, so be ready for it. #3 Always plan ahead. As a F2P you have limited resources, so spend them wisely and plan how to spend them. Also - be careful with "pity pre buffing". There is always a chance you "win" a S-rank you didn't want, so - if you are not after A-tiers from a certain banner - don't pull on it to "load pity". #4 Don't pull for more than you need. Sure it's satisfying to have many "high-ranks" in whatever Gatcha it is - especially if you are F2P, because this "I robbed the casino" feeling pumps dopamine. But in the end, if you have more characters than you're able to build and utilize - is it worth pulling for them anymore for any other reason than gambling fever (which is better to avoid, as this is the sh*t that makes people addicted). #5 "Hoyogames" are not about Gatcha. Pulling for new stuff is just a way for getting new characters/weapons for you and in many cases getting money for Hoyoverse. But all their games are much much more. Captivating stories, awesome gameplay, fun mechanics. Yeah I know. There is also "grind and casino" in every game of them. However, neither Genshin nor Star Rail, and also not ZZZ are only about that stuff. Plus the best that these games can offer is 100% free, so why don't focus on this first. Having fun is more important than having a 100% meta accurate team (most of this BS is for whales, don't bother your head with this crap).

yeah i go with the “does this spark joy?” philosophy. if i’m worried about missing out instead of excited for the new character then i ignore the wishing screen until the next character comes out
You'll get lots more. Yeah, just plan out the next ones more carefully and enjoy watching the currency stack without spending it unless you really want something.
As someone that used to play Genshin every day and got burnt out in Sumeru, ZZZ is really fun and feels pretty fresh. I love the advice. I really need to not force myself to grind out the dailies and whatnot and just play for the parts I enjoy.
My mistake was raising my entire team to level 40 without considering synergy between the characters, (Corin, Nicole, Grace) It still works, but at interknot level 34 the time-limited stage requirements punishes teams that don't synergize.
I don't have burn out but lots of regret. I love this game so much but im already at level 40 with not a lot to do and I miss having story line to progress with. Take your time don't rush and learn from my mistake.
I think a useful tip for not just f2p players but everyone, is to make it welcome to the team, and ready to be maxed out (maybe except w-engines) such as upgrade tapes, floppy discs, ascension materials, possibly disc drives if you have some already. For example, if you're pulling for Ellen, make sure you have Lycaon, Soukaku and Butler (bangboo) upgraded to a decent level.
Anby as of the moment is enough even hyper carry with soukaku+lucy(but I agree not everyone gets lucy). For ellen. If you are expanding a team it all depends if who standard you get and if its grace and pulled for ellen banner, highly likely you get anton too and shock team doesnt need stun that much anyway
While prefarming is useful,if you lose the 50/50 and you DON'T have enough to guarantee them,you will have wasted your energy,just something to remember. Though Lycan/Soukaku is a super strong combo,in the same vein of the core Anby/Nicole synergy.
I was pulling for Ellen because everyone kept saying how good she is. But I lost the 50/50 to Grace. I was sad. But then I found out that Ellen is good because of Lycaon and Soukaku, two characters I don't particularly enjoy. On the contrary I really enjoy Grace with Rina and Piper. Now I'm so glad I lost the 50/50 lol.
Very good advice, thank you for the video! It really goes a long way to enjoy the game and not force yourself under the mentality of others have. For example, my friend who is a big gacha player and plays a lot of different gacha games, started playing ZZZ and he got Lycaon from his guaranteed S rank and also built Soukaku. But he spent all of his pulls on Ellen and didn't her, to which, he said to me "his account is ruined" and he won't have fun because "the next time Ellen comes up in the other banner she will be powercrept and irrelevant", he wanted the best "meta team" currently available and that's really disheartening. Personally, I am currently using Anby, Billy and Collin and loving every second of the game.

Ngl I came to ZZZ from Wuthering Waves, and got super disappointed when i lost my Ellen weapon banner. I completely forgot that other gatchas you can lose the weapon banner, while in WuWa its guaranteed. Not only it was surprising but also got me thinking that i could have had ellen C1 at this point and would be fine with an A rank W engine.. great video btw!
Hey man keep Your chin up, now you’re guaranteed for the next weapon you want to get. I play wuwa as well and the 100% banner weapon there really spoiled us. Genshin is even worse. It’s 37.5 chance to get the weapon you want because there are 2 on rare up. And only after losing twice are you guaranteed, so you need to pity 3 times if you are unlucky.
I've played a lot of Gacha games in the past, and for the first time ever I decided to play this game from launch on my own terms. I still log in daily because of the membership I purchased, but I only play when I feel like it. I don't look at tier lists for characters, I built the characters that I like. I also ended up not even using build guides. Gacha games are so stressful when you're trying to minmax everything. Just enjoy the game!
I'm a Gacha games veteran as of now, played GI for 4 years before completely getting bored of it and day 1 HSR player who and I think I'll stick with this game for even longer (light spender in both). Also played many other titles like PGR/HI3/etc etc This video is amazing as it outlines pretty much everything a F2P needs to know, and I thank you for taking the time to explain everything in detail. For ZZZ, I administrate a FB group for the game in Arabic, and I'm the only one who explains everything in detail. As for my experience so far in pulling, I don't really regret pulling Ellen, but have I heard a bit earlier about newer characters coming, I might have not pulled for her after losing 50/50 on her. I was extremely lucky/unlucky (it depends on how you see it) and got Lycaon from standard + his W-Engine + got him again when I lost my 50/50, so pulling Ellen for me was a no brainer, considering the time we're in and considering Sukako is C6, BUT! I actually found myself liking Anomaly/Distortion gameplay very much to the extent that I wish I saved my guarantee to get Jane Doe. Lesson learned: FOMO is bad. No matter how experienced you are in Gacha games, you can always easily fall for it.

That first part. The FOMO. It hit me like a truck as soon as I started because I _immediately_ loved Ellen's playstyle and what happened? The gacha gods were unkind and I missed out on her (I was given Von Lycaon instead). And I'm still salty over it even as I'm pulling for Zhu Yuan for the same reason. My added advice for that point: Don't skip on the agent demos that are available during the new banner pulls. They'll help you make a decision, as short as they may be. Edit: Got Zhu Yuan on my first ten pull of the day. No regrets.
The gacha is absolutely brutal in this game so make sure to not obsesss about it. The A rank characters are a lot of fun and plenty strong to clear most content. Gathering 180 pulls is hard, but totally doable. Just takes some time. Ive been treating the game as a fun DMC like game and ignoring the gacha (after losing the 50/50 at 90 pulls ofc)
I play the game mostly for fun, like for gameplay and character designs. It’s really fun to grind hard for polychromes to get the characters I want, and I’m pretty dedicated. I grinded for Zhu Yuan with about a week left, and did get her. I’m also working for Qingyi and hoping for luck when Jane comes
I haven't played a gacha game before zzz and from my personal experience, you don't need meta characters to have fun. I just use the 3 characters that I think look cool and maybe have one of them match the recommended typing for a mission and I got through the story easily even on the alternate harder difficulty. my main team just consists of Ellen joe (at the time I thought her banner was the default banner because I never played gacha games) Nicole and either the short bellabog CEO or Zhu yuan. I don't think that team has any synergy in the slightest, yet it got me through the story with no issues. do what you like and you'll have a blast.
The way i tend to use my pulls as f2p, is just saving until i see someone i want. Not like i can save more than i get without spending! And im just as likely to fail on one banner as i am the next. Since pity carries over, i view the limited banner not as multiple different character banners, but rather one big banner rotating the main character. When its someone i want, i pull. When its not, i save. If i get someone i want, awesome! If not, im much more likely to get the next one i want. The biggest factor is choosing when to skip, since 50/50 is 50/50, but your guarantee is a bit more worth saving. Like at low pity with no guarantee im much more likely to pull on a character I'd like or think I'd like that im not crazy about, whereas mid to high pity with a guarantee im more likely to save if i suspect someone i want more is coming.
The burnout one and fomo hitted hard for me. I played both genshin and star rail before Zenless, the former to interact with my friends at the time, and the latter as an riot against genshin's poor management at the time. I believe I am the only person to say this but I regret pulling for Raiden, every place I went related to genshin every was like "she's broken!", "she's a must pull!", "your account gonna be way better with her!" And after about half a year of listen to this time and time again I pulled and barely use her now while I'm saving for an character who gonna appear soon. While star rail... I enjoyed a ton I can't deny that, got weirdly lucky and got all characters I wanted but... The endgame being based solely on the honestly repetitive combat with few changes or additions made me get burned out and quit the game. Now with Zenless... I will take my time now, this game has a ton of things I liked from Genshin and Star rail and others.
My approach to weapon banners is, ignore them when I'm pulling for the character attached to them. Then, when the banner comes back around, and I don't have anything else I'm saving for or have enough to burn comfortably, then I'll pull for it. I'm not very interested in the cinemas since I don't find them worth the investment as F2P. The S ranks are already good enough on their own
Intresting to hear. Dont play that many gacha games, but like to play them from time to time and zzz is the first one really getting my intrest. One of the hardest things in these kind of games is, to understand how all these free items for upgrading, pulling and other stuff they give you works. Im still struggeling to upgrade characters, just because im unsure which one to fully upgrade and use. Because im unsure if i should take the ones that are fun to play, even tho i dont like the character itself that much or if i focus more on the characters i like, even tho some dont play that cool. Realy like Anby, but her normal attack is just boring. I pulled for Ellen for example, because i like her character/story and style, but i do see, why some people think she is boring to play compared to others, but i do not regret getting her. But i regret not looking up the next banner beforhand, because i like the gameplay of Zhu Yuan and with her beeing the next banner, it could be a bit hard to get her too. These are atm the only characters i really wanted to focus on getting. Thats something this and other gacha games also dont properly tell. How much gacha ressources you will get in the future. Im playing f2p, but looked at the paid stuff and was like "does this really get people enough ressources to pull enough times for a banner to get them their s-tier or does it just look fancy and like its much ressources but it isnt in the end?"
If your f2p please be sure before you pull anyone as pulling someone you won’t use for a long time is a huge waste of resources, just look up guides, gameplay and play their character demo a lot before you decide to pull!
Luckily I'm not doing anything wrong with zenless zone zero now with the gacha feature, already complete chapter 3 and find ellen is not as powerful as I imagine, now grind polychromes till next update when miyabi exist (or atleast 1 public security people), still not give my master tape to w-engines now because why
I missed the chance to pull Ellen and had FOMO until I did research. I realized that pulling her wouldn’t have made any sense with the units I have. Zhu Yuan made perfect sense for my units which made me come up with a real solid team as a F2P player. If I had pulled Ellen, I still would be trying to come up with a team to build, even if she’s strong. Thank you!!!
As of reaching IK 39,here's some advice for your f2p savings. -some content can be more enjoyable if your characters are underpowered,so don't race to max level your characters,or feel you NEED to pull a limited character to progress. -once you pull the limited character you want,SAVE. There is no reason to run to the weapon banner or "build pity" unless you are trying to snag one last rate up A rank,which even then should be max 20 searches if you're unlucky. The last thing you want is to get a C1 instead of a new character on a f2p account.
I'm IK lvl 38. My first 5 star was Rina so my initial team was Rina Anton Anby. My first stable banner 90 pull got me Rina's W-Engine. Much later I decided to go for Ellen - won my 50/50 and I have found her extremely fun and replaced my Anton. I lost my 50/50 on her SHARK W-Engine (got a 2nd Weeping Cradle smh) but luckily got the shark 30 or 40 pulls later. I'm glad I have the Ellen-Rina-Anby team. I'd love to pull Lycon or maybe Grace so I have have 2 good teams for Shiryu Defense. Just wish levels 30-40 didn't feel like such a slough, I'm just being gatekept from the gate because I've done literally everything I can but need to spend stamina to get accout level up experience. Level 40 can't come soon enough
yeah i fell for the Fomo cause i wanted to make a Maid team, but then i got to the point where you play as Zhu Yuan and i had to make a new accoount to save pulls for her cause i found her far more fun to play. thankfully, i managed to pull Nicole's W Engine early and the base team of Billy, Anby, and Nicole are amazing in the meantime
This is good advice! As someone who doesn't care about 100%-ing everything and just tries to have as much fun as possible, I can say that this game is really fun. The animations and graphics are nice, the combos feel good to pull off and the music fits the mood, atmosphere and gameplay
Great video 👍 I was slightly late to the game, found myself trying to get Ellen but my last pull before they changed the banner was S rank Nekomata (I guess that means I lost the 50/50 🤷♂️). It took me a while to get to that point, not realising I hadn’t actually considered what kind of teams I want to build and whether Ellen would have even been a good fit. This video reminded me to take a step back, chill and make sure I get the characters that suit me.
I recently got Argenti early at 29 pity on HSR, and I was like “oh he seems cool I’ll build him” but I’m struggling to deal with his damage compared to boothills (I’ve gotten my Boothill to do 700k outside of SU/DU/MOC/Fiction, any of the endgame stuff and my Argenti can sometimes do 100k.) I personally don’t agree with 5*/S-rank weapon having less value than new characters, it’s just depends on how you want to play the game. In both Genshin and HSR, depending on the character, their signature weapon can make a ton of differences. While they are unnecessary if you want to keep on pulling the new meta and keep up with the FOMO, newer characters are usually just better, S rank weapons can be good to have if you have a certain character that you wish you could play with them longer without feeling bad. Like people complain their favorite characters like Jingyuan and Blade in HSR can’t keep up with newer characters, you can fix that by vertical investment, just cherry pick the cheapest way to upgrade that said character, which is usually their signature weapon next to new supports. I know some people got burnout specifically because they got tired having to farm mats for new meta character and their relic/artifacts/disc, if you want stability for certain characters imo going for their weapon is a good choice. and if you really don’t care about the next characters, it become easier to decide. I personally still like going for characters more, but i don’t regret getting some of the 5 star weapons because they gave my fav characters a stronger staying power.

I couldn't agree more on what you said on that video!. Genshin was my first gacha game and i did so many things wrong and mainly because of FOMO, it got to the point i had a burnout and stopped to play for 2 years! I tried to get back playing but my account was so bricked that i couldn't had fun at all and just dropped 100%. Now with ZZZ i'm just having a BLAST of happiness, i got luck that my 50 S rank character was Nekomata cause i wanted her so bad since i saw the trailers and when i got her i was like "NO F WAY BRO". Anyways I'm skipping Ellen and Probably Zhu Yuan and Qingyi too, Jane Doe got my interest but since Nekomata is my Physical team i think i will skip her too cause i don't think it will be good for my account so probably will be skipped (which sads me a little but it's okay i can get her another time!) So for now i will just wait for Miyabi and keep all the polychromes i can (currently with 18354). Oh and i'm F2P. I'm sorry for the wall text but i just needed to say all of that because i was one of the people who was constantly searching every guide possible for my Genshin Impact account and doing everything wrong which took me to have a burnout and a huge dislike of the game. So to finish this please guys don't let FOMO destroy your account, be super WISE while pulling for characters and make 100% sure that the character you are pulling satisfies you in terms of gameplay enjoyment!. (Sorry if i wrote something wrong, English isn't my first language ^-^)
I love being able to do the errands in like 5 minutes instead of 20-40 minutes in genshin, I hace already beaten the available story by level 38 but I did it because it was genuinely fun. And the thing about pulling for the one you want is true, I pulled for ellen because i love sharks and like how she synergizes with soukakou. I like her playstile. But seeing the cop lady i don't find the ammo mechanic or her combos to be that fun.
I think one thing that everyone should do ( especially if you're thinking about breaking out the wallet): DO THE MATH! If you want to try and get these characters and don't have the guaranteed, take a second and do the math. You only have 30 summons? Thinking about spending 60$? Well go find a tool or do the math yourself and see the odds of getting what you want in those pulls. It's so easy to say "Nah I'm not going to spend 60$ for a 10% chance at Ellen" as opposed to thinking "Oooo 30 pulls will definitely get me Ellen!" (I didn't do the math there, just an example) Ties into your #2 point, but it really just makes it concrete. If you just take the time and do the math, it really helps you save and resist the urge to spend.

How I see it is that no character will ever pay itself back even if that character single handedly clears for you all endgame content to get any possible reward Let’s say you can’t complete the last levels of shiyu frontier, even if pulling a character would make you clear those stages you were not clearing before, for that character to pay itself back it would take years Skipping a character will automatically give you more pulls than whatever stage that character let’s you complete So pulling for meta is utterly pointless, you pull what you like, always Small note: this doesn’t mean that I think people should never pull dupes or weapons, but you should pull those because you enjoy a character you like feeling more powerful Other small note: in some cases characters are sadly shit and they feel bad to play because of how weak they are regardless of how much you like their design, so maybe don’t COMPLETELY dismiss meta….Dehya teached me that
Point no. 1 is why, as much as I love her design, I'm not getting Ellen. Plinkdashing in phone is not easy for me to do (might be possible if I play in PC), which is needed to keep her stacks topped. I've already tried using her in the story against the Twins and she did not click with me. I prefer Zhu Yuan's gameplay, which is keep-away style. As for burnout, that is true. I'm actually feeling it now on HSR.
I definitely agree with your first point but the bad part is Ellen is the missing piece for me right now. I have a Lyca +1 and a maxed Soukaku. I have the shark bangboo and the s tier w-engine for lyca. All f2p btw. The missing piece is Ellen (technically I don't have her w engine or our favorite onis but those are pretty small things to be missing.)
I can say burnout is a real thing. I've experienced an extreme case of burnout when I played Genshin, I forced myself to grind out the daily commissions and bosses, to the point where it felt like a 9-5 job. I started hating Genshin, and eventually I just stopped, and it's been 1 and a half years since I last opened the game.
Ever since ZZZ was announced, I've always wanted to get Lycaon out of everyone (he looks cool!). Fastforward to the game's release, I managed to pull him on my Beginner Banner, so I considered myself incredibly fortunate! Now, I'm at that point where I'm anxious because my luck might go downhill from here, lmao. Even my indecisiveness has made things so overbearing because I don't know if I can make the correct choice, so to say. The "Need New Toy Syndrome" is too real in this game, especially because they have a training room. That itch of wanting to try stuff out really messes with me way more than it should, lol.
4 hit hard for me, as I’ve been playing Genshin for two years (I think? I just know I’ve been playing up to Sumeru) since release before getting completely burnt out. My sister still plays and frequently asks if I can play with her, but I just can’t bring myself to touch it again. Thank you for this video, and I’ll make sure not to make the same mistake in ZZZ Also it wasn’t the weapon banner but I got Lycaon’s signature on the standard when I wanted Lycaon himself, my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. But at least I got Corin’s signature (she’s my main) and I’m halfway to being able to choose a standard 5 star!
I don't have a tonne of gacha game experience. My plan is to try and play it casually with "waifu over meta" and pulling the characters I just like. I'm not too fussed about building a super badass or optimal team. Now, for those exact reasons, I want to pull Ellen dammit! Simply don't have enough tapes to guarantee pulling her now though. And off your last point, I'm subscribed!
@@triviumhead1 if you end up playing the game long term and want to beat the harder content I would advise you try to build strong teams around your favorite characters. Cause nothing is more deflating than watching your “waifus” get their ass kicked cause they don’t have a strong team. But I wish you luck!
Ellen is probably going to be a mainstay on my account for a very long time because she matches up with my personal playstyle. But as a meta unit I doubt she will last long and the playstyle is one that *really* isn’t for everyone. Meanwhile I’m not sure if I’m gonna like how Zhu Yuan plays as much because her tech just isn’t the way I play fighting games compared to Ellen. So ultimately it’s best to find some way to try out characters and get a feel for if you like them or not, since your enjoyment and what works with your playstyle is the most important. As an example from another game: Pikachu might be better than Sephiroth in smash but a Sephiroth main gets more mileage out of Sephiroth than Pikachu.
Same here. After i tried Ellens demo, ive been wanting her coz her gameplay. So i did a lot of reroll until i got her with Lycaon which is a plus and soldier for mono fire.
I think the first question is how much player skill matters: the camera angles here do produce a bit more trouble with situational awareness than is normal for Genshin Impact, but as with that game being able to play makes up for a lot numerically. After that, make sure you've used all the guaranteed characters so that you know how you feel about the major combat styles. At the least, you want to find the ranges you're most comfortable at. After that you'll have a pretty good idea whether you'll enjoy using a new character - and that's the big thing if your priority is to have fun playing. Doubt I'll manage to get Ellen, but I'm trying for her due to one oddity of my play through both Genshin Impact and Star Rail: even though the basic concept of "slow the action down" appeals to me I never seem to end up with any cold-based characters and would like that to change. If not, well, I know I can use Billy, Anby, Nicole, and Corin and will eventually get random new characters - and it seems practical to aim for cold-based Bangboos. (I am hoping we get co-op all-Bangboo missions eventually, as while there are good technical reasons it'll be hard to give us co-op most of those reasons should break down once we're working with Bangboos.)
Player skill matters to a certain degree at the absolute end game but outside of that it doesn’t matter to to much. But hope you get your Ellen and hope you enjoy her!
I'm F2P and when I started ZZZ on release, I found Ellen to be super fun in her trial. In my first 50 pulls on the standard banner, I got Rina and was happy with her on a team with Anby as my stun and Corin as my main DPS. I was able to save up enough for about 80 pulls on the Ellen banner and was so happy I won the 50/50 and I had M6 on Sokkaku so I decided to build her alongside Ellen and have Anby for my stun. Been having a blast these last couple days when today, I got my 2nd pity on the standard banner and managed to get Lycaon. I was in complete shock that I accidentally got everyone perfect for Ellen but I am glad since she's my absolute favorite so far. When I get far enough into Shiyu Defense to need 2 teams, I'm going to have my original team there with me alongside my main team. While playing with Corin, I also got the Butler Bangboo twice and then I also got the Shark Bangboo for Ellen beforehand. For some reason, I just got super lucky with the Bangboo banner to get 3 S-Ranks within 30 pulls I've been having a blast and being able to be lucky, at least up until now, I am happy with and won't be taking it for granted, since like said in the video, that luck will run out. I'm not gonna pull for the next banner and I currently have 10k+ polychromes so if there's a character later in the future, I may pull, but for now, I am perfectly content :D
It's funny that you mentioned Nilou. I pulled her without Nahida not because I knew she was good, but because I wanted a hydro applicator that I wasn't already using that could replace my Candice on my Alhaitham team (and I like the funny dance she does after certain attacks). I had so much fun with that team! I was a Day 1 F2P player that quit that game at around 3.6 because I had major burnout for the reasons you outlined in this video, but I may give it another shot after remembering the good times... Thanks for reminding me about all that, because now I DEFINITELY know that I won't make the same mistake with ZZZ. This game is too good to drop!

The community I seek for star rail is very hard to find. I have a deep love for it and value it greatly. This video helped me realize though there are those who will also feel the same thank you.
In my personal opinion, I wasn’t a fan of Ellen but after using her and then getting into the story I’m glad I pulled for her, but in all honestly I understand if ppl hate her play style, her E1 makes her pretty much easier and only one dodge attack instead of 2
3:15 i tend to pull on the weapon banner but that’s because i’m super selective about characters. i will go through half a year without pulling for any limited five stars so when i do it’s worth it to get the weapon as well. but i think for people who like lots of characters you definitely don’t need the weapon banner
My main problem is controversy in characters I want/need. It's so difficult, that I really think about turning into some hierarchy decision-making. I like Ellen and her playstile much more than Zhu Yuan, but I don't have Liacon, and I absolutely love Quingui, who will be electo stunner for Zhu Yuan with little to no synergy with Ellen, while power creeping Enby, who I also really like and don't want to bench, and fuuuuuu........

This is why I’m heavily against tier list I seen some pretty good gacha games get destroyed or don’t do so well because everyone save for meta units I tend to roll with whatever my account gives me and I tend to always enjoy the game more than rerolling for the perfect account
Before starting ZZZ, I looked to Prydwen's tierlist on the characters and was sad the male characters except for the one S rank that they're all T2 and below since I only play gacha games for the husbandos. But almost two weeks later, I am now a Billy Kid main, which by the way according to that tierlist is one of the worst characters in the game. His playstyle of pew pews, spin and rolling tactics really attracted me to keep playing this game which before I only planned on trying it out since I found the TV gameplay very unappealing. I didn't also like how this is probably Hoyoverse's most coomsumer bait game with the design of the waifus but I am now hooked to the world of New Eridu and this also probably has their best combat yet.
thanks for this video. I arrived at a moment in the game where I hit a wall, the lvl 30 wall, it was pretty hard. It stops my momentum, my growth. I have to do a bit of grind each day to lvl up my characters and their engines to be able to progress.
Awesone advices. I pulled for Sigewinne when everyone said she's very bad. What's the point of strong unit when we don't have fun using it? So just enjoy the game as you please.
My plan is always just pull if i have some and if i got off banner then i save for other its good for my gacha addict but still not go crazy on that so yeah i cant save for 1 patch or even longer without pulling some im just that weak 😂
I've had to learn many of these points the hard way over ~10 years of gacha gaming. A lot of these should be legally required to be *emphasised* by any company publishing a game with gacha mechanics
theres also the temptation of wasting all my hard earned polychromes for ellen because im planning on building an ice team, all i got was the final piece for soukaku and my first piece of rina, i was severely disappointed but after collecting enough tapes for ellens weapon, i got her weapon and soukaku's on my first pull which kept me going thus far, love the content mate!
Koleda is a strong character, always pull for her (this is a joke though Koleda is an easy character to use because she has synergy with an A rank character)
That's always been my saying since I started playing Genshin, don't pull for characters you don't like just because people consider them strong, I absolutely hate Hutao's gameplay, so even though she was considered one of the best DPS back in the day I never tried to pull for her, and I'll be doing the same on ZZZ, I didn't pull Ellen because even though her gameplay is cool, I know that there will be a lot of new characters in the future, and being f2p I prefer to save it to see if there will be a character that I will prefer, if not, I'll just wait for her rerun. It's a game, it has to be fun, if it's not then what's the point??? Also I wanna talk about my experience, there was a time when I notice I was playing Genshin because I felt obligated to do the dailys every day, that I wasn't having fun anymore, so I stopped playing for about 5 months, I uninstalled it and went on to do other things that made me happier, then I started to miss Genshin, I have a great affection for the game cause it helped me at a time when I was in a really bad mental state, I missed playing, I missed the story, the events, my characters, so I installed it again, and since then I have enjoyed the game even more, because now I left aside the sense of obligation towards the game I once had, if I don't feel like playing one day I don't force myself to do it, and it's been a really good experience. Anyway, I wrote all this to say that I think your tip about burnout is by far the most important on this list, no one should play because they feel obligated to, games have to be fun, we are already obligated to work/study every day in real life, video games should serve as something to de-stress and enjoy, treating a game as an obligation instead of a hobby will only make you miserable, stay safe everyone.
Miyabi is the only other character I want Ellen, Koleda,Zhu, and Reina so Ice,Fire Either, and Lightning plus some 4*'s to support them.I'm in my happy place. I pulled Koleda and Reina both from standard banner as a double after 30pulls I'm saving until Miyabi pops up. I'm also saving my Boopins/Boopons? My Bangboo pulls. I pulled 4x got Penguin,Devil & Dupe,Bag Dupe, and another Physical Boo, So I'm fine with what I drew S-ranks are amazing howerever their investment to obtain them as a F2p isn't worth it honestly unless it's Butler since his utility is honestly universally helpful to any team comp.Also pulled on Zhu's Weapon banner 1 10 pull drew her S-rank weapon, Starlight weapon, and a Nicole dupe the game has been EXTRA Kind to me, but I'm not stupid enough to become complaicent, I have about 42pulls left I'm saving for Miyabi end of story.

Big agree on that first point. I'm skipping ellen for Zhu Yhan and then skipping the next character after her as I really don't like her design, so Anby will be a main stay for a while, which is fine because Anby is cool.
Ill be honest id actually say Skip on next banner with the cops, if you happen to get Lyacon , Ellen and Soukaku it will carry you a long way And even if you do want a electric team You already have a Breaker, DPS and Support/ Anomaly as Anby, Anthon and Rina
Thats fair to say, but I can counter to this by saying most players dont have Lyacon, meaning they will be able to make a stronger Zhu yuan team than ellen, as You can get enough pulls for both Zhu yuan and Qingyi and nicole is free, while when it comes to Ellen you have to get lucky to get lyacon and an Ellen team without lyacon is singificantly worse, and I can test to this cause I unfortunately dont have lyacon and I can feel the impact its having in the later stages of shiyu defense
Right now I love Ellen and am very glad I pulled for her I’m excited for Qingyi, Miyabi, and Jane Doe. No one else really tickles my fancy. And even then idk if I’ll pull for any of them because we already have a physical anomaly, ice attacker and electric stun. So they seem redundant. Hopefully they switch Miyabi to fire because I don’t really vibe with Soldier 11

the worst thing you can do in a gacha game is try to meta game it. Like Yeah let's optimise our builds in a game where the characters you unlock are attached to a randomised loot system with a weapon upgrade system attached as well. you hit some kind of roadblock every 5 minutes with all the currencies and the levelling systems. you need materials to level up, but there's a cap every ten levels and you need some cash and a particular material to level that. Then you need to level the character's individual attacks individually and they have their own materials Then you need to upgrade the W engine and break through it's level cap as well with other other materials.
Not really lol, as someone who played gacha games for 10 years your being over dramatic lol. It’s not hard to pick your favorites and make a team around them that’s strong and optimized. You’re severely over exaggerating how hard it is to do that. You’re only limited by time progression but even then you’ll eventually get there. And the average player can’t pull that much anyway so focusing on 2-3 teams is super easy to do
I'm saving my resources cause I will preach the potential of anomaly until I quit, but bro I got Grace (huge W) from my guaranteed standard S rank. With the rest of the many pulls we've been given, I was granted my 2nd S rank pull and it was... Steel Cushion?? Oh my LORD it felt horrible. It's genuinely a dead pull for me, I don't have Nekomata, and I don't enjoy playing Corin or Billy even after I got the hang of some of Billy's movement tech. Steel Cushion is a completely dead engine on anyone that isn't a physical attack type. I couldn't have gotten a worse S rank. I probably will never find a use for it until I one day get Nekomata (maybe), but even then I just want to push the envelope for anomaly and disorder. Any other engine and I could have made some use of it, and any other agent would have been useful for setting up a 2nd team. Even M1 for Grace would have been preferable because it would do something. I just have a trophy saying "Congrats, you lost your pity for this!"

@@KetteiThe7th_ Yeah, signature engines are usually still better for A rank agents over the S rank engines. Doesn't help that we have a whopping 3 stun types and Anby is the only A rank and has a guaranteed signature. I think the only S rank engines in the game right now I can confidently say won't be true dead weight (provided you use that agent type, of course) are Rina's and Soldier's? They just have generically strong benefits that anyone can make use of. I haven't memorized all the engines yet.
I only wasted about 20~ pulls this banner and stopped, because I realized I didn't really like Ellen and her gameplay, right now I got around 90 pulls saved up and hopefully I'll get Zhu Yuan since I enjoyed playing as her in the story missions

Naw bro, I dunno what all that advice was, but I don’t think I’m breaking any of it. I’m literally just pouring everything I own into A: the character I already have and want to max out, and B: the character I want that isn’t even limited. Putting all my stuff into Billy, when I can’t grind for Billy I grind materials to get Lycoan stronger in the meantime when I get him, and I grind for pulls so I can get to that juicy 300 agent pick to get mah furry boi. I dunno what I’ll do for the other character lol, I’ve gotten so many just looking for Lycoan.

this is why Character Demos are a thing. it would help test out if you like that said character in the first place. it also helps on what should be the squad for that character to really shine. Ex. Ellen goes perfect with Sokaku who is a A-rank and much more accessible than Lycanon who is a 5-star. if you want to get butler dog, go right ahead. just remember that is even more pulls you need to spend in order to get that comp. Third slot can be anything tbh.
Another f2p example: I am currently running Nicole/Corin/Billy as my go-to team to get all three synergy bonuses. Billy may seem unnecessary, but look at it this way. you got a CCer (Nicole), a burst DPS (Corin) and a rather dodgy Sub DPS that knows how to space (Billy). hasn't really failed me yet. and if it does, it just means i need to put in more resource to make the team stronger or know how to dodge.
The thing with burnout tho… ZZZ is the first Gacha game where I can play at my own pace without something in the back of my head telling me to rush thing… and that’s crazy since I’ve been in gacha game loop since Honkai impact3rd come out (probably 10 year by now). I feel like it’s a proper game first and gacha second

Don't worry, at some point down the line you'll feel pressured to play more efficiently so that you can tackle shiyu defense for the premium currency.
It's funny, with wuthering waves I was mostly ambivalent about the game so I didn't care too much about efficiency or doing it's equivalent to SD in its ToA. But with ZZZ I enjoy the story and characters more so I'm trying to figure out if I can hit 40 before this week ends, which will require rushing through all of the available side quests if it's actually possible.

If you're gonna sacrifice being chill and enjoying how you like to play just for pull currency, I'd honestly just suggest skipping the last or second last floor because you aren't losing that much, and you'll get to enjoy even non-meta units/comps (except for yk actually not synergistic comps)

Yeah, I used to be a "Ben is trash" guy, but I put together an all Belobog team and I don't have Grace, so I kinda had to learn to use him. And tbh, he is fairly hard to play, where he's slow and you have to combo with him right for him to actually do damage. But he's not bad I learned, so long as you use him right. He's kinda just in a bad spot because Anton is his main competition for the Belobog team, and he's one of the best A-ranks imo, and you have Piper for fire teams competing for 3rd slot usually, which means people are kinda just inclined to abandon him instead of learning how to utilize him. He's a cool guy, and when I do get Grace I'll honestly have to consider whether I want to use her or just keep him in, the guy kinda won me over a fair bit.
@@mguy5923 What really sold me on Ben is when I realized his additional boosts crit rate to whoever has his shield, great for attack units. That, and realizing his block is kinda like a free defensive assist you can always use even if you're out of assist points and energy. His utility is actually pretty cool, and it makes me excited for more defense characters
I've really been enjoying using Ben myself, and he was the first character I got the Dynamic Wallpaper though.
Account wise, I was able to build a main team around him as my guaranteed S-rank unit I got was Soldier 11, a Fire element DPS.
Chalk it up as well to my enjoyment of using Clara & Aventurine in HSR, but the whole Counterattack mechanic that Ben has is really enjoyable.

Yeah no one likes Ben, but I have actually grown to enjoy him. Especially since I pulled a koleda earlier. I just love how they team up. They're both underleveled so I can't use them for the tougher content I have unlocked but they're just fine in normal missions!
Nah this is facts. Like I’m just not pulling for Jane even tho I want to. I have no anomaly to pair her with and I’m def not getting multiple S rank characters back to back for her faction passive especially with rumors of sons of Calydon and section 6 characters coming soon. If I would’ve pulled Grace as my free 5 star then it would be a whole different conversation.
The thing I notice about ZZZ is, we don't really need to get Meta character as long you follow the rule of Faction & Attribute properly.

i learn self restraint and resource management from playing gacha coz my luck is always so bad so i never rely on luck for anything. the 2nd point you made really hit home about what make me so annoy at other gacha players, that luck mentality is so dangerous in a gacha game. Another similar problem i see is "building pity", for the god sake don't build pity, the risk outweight than benefit by a large margin

and i don't see whats so wrong about that.. the likelihood that you pull your 5* within 30 or 40 pulls is so low that it almost never leads to you pulling a char you don't want.
this reminds me back when i pulled for kokomi in genshin, i pulled for her design and the jellyfish but many people dont like her. i value her for freeze teams, now i use her on hyperbloom too. it is very important you understand the value of the character you pull for your account so you dont regret, just like what mr kettei said.

to summarise when new character drop you can access their demo on the banner just try them first like spend like 10 minute in the demo and see if you actually lile it or not
That can work sometimes but not all the times, I have seen people who thought because of the demo they would enjoy the character long term but it didn’t turn out that way. So I would actually say play the demo and also watch other people use the character on teams that you can build and see if it looks good their too
If anything, it's worth doing the Demo for characters on the banner for the free rewards you get out of doing so, especially when those rewards include the material needed to buy more pulls
Also ZZZ is somewhat unique among Hoyo games, because characters have trial versions in some missions and because of the way the game is set up you can replay that mission as much as you want and in some you can even pick out supporting characters out of the ones you have!
Just to know, this also applies to most if not EVERY Gacha games to exists (Hoyoverse is the easiest to apply in here)

I like this better than strictly "don't build pity." You should plan around pity, and figure out if you're ok with whatever RNJesus throws at you, but pulling on a banner with a Meh 5* is fine if getting them early doesn't impact long-term plans while building their associated 4*s does.
The taking break advice is truly the most important by far for me and others, I just remembered that I wanted yesterday to play, but felt sleepy so I said to myself “ I can just play tomorrow” and fell asleep, and today I feel more excited to be into the game and story

It can certainly be hard to take breaks from Gatcha games, especially with the Time Gated Energy regen ends up maxing out and you feel like you're "wasting time."
This is part of the reason why I like the Energy Reserve runoff that HSR has. It allows you to gain even more Energy that you can use in the future, stocking up to 10x the normal amount. While HSR & Zenless are the only Gatcha games I've played, I would hope more Gatcha games utilize this
I think like this: characters i don't have, don't exist, only pull post pity guarantee, never pull weapons. When there is no story I daily farm for the next planned characters so i can max them immediately. This way I aways get what I want and can actually use them faster.

On the W engine topic - back in HSR I was on the side of avoiding light cone banners because if it's possible to clear end game content with 4 star units only, or even without gacha, then you don't need light cones, right? And the pulls you have to sink into the gacha to get the light cone are almost enough to get a new character.
Well, I've been slowly changing my opinion on that over time. Which was why, when I got a fairly early Ellen pull I decided to go for her W engine, with no regrets.
My rationale was that none of the upcoming characters really grabbed my attention and I planned on saving up for Miyabi who isn't likely to come anytime soon (I've heard 1.3). Also, building crit gear in HSR has been a pain and I still don't have any characters with decent crit gear at this point, though my dot and break teams have pretty good gear. And Ellen's engine has crit mainstats when none of the A rank engines I looked at had any. Especially important when her kit gives her crit damage but not much crit rate.
Finally, as an action game as opposed to a turn based game I wanted a crutch for my first team to compensate for my lacking skill.
Overall in general I'd still advise avoiding W engine banners because the joy of gacha games is getting new characters (just ignore the despair that is building new characters). But there's something to be said for getting yourself a strong start that will help carry you through the first few months of the game before the power creep settles in.

when in reality it is situational and comes down to so many things: how old is your account? are you still trying to get a few teams running or is your account 8 months old already and you can beat anything anyway? how general is the weapon you are pulling for, can it work on upcoming chars as well? e.g. i can see ellen's weapon easily be top tier for future ice dps as well... how good are the 4* on the banner.. are there 4* weapons which could help out your account?

should f2p players and low spender feel pressured to go for the weapons ? for sure not.

The debate between "a small number of highly optimized characters" and "a wide variety of usable characters" is an important one to have wth yourself. Getting the character(s) you love the investment they need to clear whatever, whenver, super quickly can feel as good as getting a team centered around a new mechanic you've been unable to try before. Especially when it feels like ur working to get a gift for that one character whose story you really resonated with. But it can also become a boring road to burnout if you do that without a plan.
Always like to see comments that add neuance to a discussion and give players who go looking more detailed advice.

I would say as another point. Remember to stop and smell the roses in this game. Sometimes stopping focus on the grind or banners or end game content and just looking around and appreciating the game is a really good way to avoid burnout. Take the time to try new team comps in the training room, do the hard mode time trials just to see if you can beat em for fun, or even just walk around the hub areas and talk to the NPC's. A lot of people get so lost in the Gatcha element of the game that they forget how fun the characters, story and worldbuilding are and how much passion and effort Hoyo puts into these games, and seeing it and appreciating it will do a lot to keep you wanting to play.

i'm very glad to have years of experience watching youtubers play gacha games, this way none of these are issues that i have. i am a hardcore f2p player, refusing to spend on anything, so there's no issue of missing out on characters since that's just inevitable. and i play only for fun and only the characters that i want, in zzz's case, it's anby and only anby, any other character is an extra and a bonus addition to the fun gaming i have with anby.

I would add a few more pieces of advice, based not only on ZZZ , but my overall "Hoyogames" experience.
#1 Characters in Gatcha games are quite like cosmetics in others - nice to have them, but you probably don't need them, at least not everyone of them. Even the starting character can be pretty strong if you put some love into them, plus they - along with the other A-tiers - are 100% fine for story content. Probably it's not the thing if you're into high tier endgame - but you'll worry about it when you get there.
Remember. Pull for the character if you like them, or have a good concept of how to utilize them in one of your teams, and yes - don't make my Genshin mistake - have more prepared teams than one to not to get bored.
#2 There is no such thing as "wrong S-tier drop". Sure - it is painful if you wished for a certain limited character and got someone else, but still - a S-tier is a S-tier. Instead of beating yourself over a losing banner - focus on how to fit your new (or upgraded) character to your team's compositions. Been there, done that. As was told in the video - you might be extra lucky, but you won't win every banner, so be ready for it.
#3 Always plan ahead. As a F2P you have limited resources, so spend them wisely and plan how to spend them. Also - be careful with "pity pre buffing". There is always a chance you "win" a S-rank you didn't want, so - if you are not after A-tiers from a certain banner - don't pull on it to "load pity".
#4 Don't pull for more than you need. Sure it's satisfying to have many "high-ranks" in whatever Gatcha it is - especially if you are F2P, because this "I robbed the casino" feeling pumps dopamine. But in the end, if you have more characters than you're able to build and utilize - is it worth pulling for them anymore for any other reason than gambling fever (which is better to avoid, as this is the sh*t that makes people addicted).
#5 "Hoyogames" are not about Gatcha. Pulling for new stuff is just a way for getting new characters/weapons for you and in many cases getting money for Hoyoverse. But all their games are much much more. Captivating stories, awesome gameplay, fun mechanics. Yeah I know. There is also "grind and casino" in every game of them. However, neither Genshin nor Star Rail, and also not ZZZ are only about that stuff. Plus the best that these games can offer is 100% free, so why don't focus on this first. Having fun is more important than having a 100% meta accurate team (most of this BS is for whales, don't bother your head with this crap).

My mistake was raising my entire team to level 40 without considering synergy between the characters, (Corin, Nicole, Grace)
It still works, but at interknot level 34 the time-limited stage requirements punishes teams that don't synergize.
nicole and grace have great synergy together! If you replace corin with anton or get zhu yuan that can be a very powerful disorder team!

I think a useful tip for not just f2p players but everyone, is to make it welcome to the team, and ready to be maxed out (maybe except w-engines) such as upgrade tapes, floppy discs, ascension materials, possibly disc drives if you have some already. For example, if you're pulling for Ellen, make sure you have Lycaon, Soukaku and Butler (bangboo) upgraded to a decent level.

Anby as of the moment is enough even hyper carry with soukaku+lucy(but I agree not everyone gets lucy). For ellen. If you are expanding a team it all depends if who standard you get and if its grace and pulled for ellen banner, highly likely you get anton too and shock team doesnt need stun that much anyway
While prefarming is useful,if you lose the 50/50 and you DON'T have enough to guarantee them,you will have wasted your energy,just something to remember.
Though Lycan/Soukaku is a super strong combo,in the same vein of the core Anby/Nicole synergy.

I was pulling for Ellen because everyone kept saying how good she is. But I lost the 50/50 to Grace. I was sad. But then I found out that Ellen is good because of Lycaon and Soukaku, two characters I don't particularly enjoy. On the contrary I really enjoy Grace with Rina and Piper. Now I'm so glad I lost the 50/50 lol.
Very good advice, thank you for the video! It really goes a long way to enjoy the game and not force yourself under the mentality of others have. For example, my friend who is a big gacha player and plays a lot of different gacha games, started playing ZZZ and he got Lycaon from his guaranteed S rank and also built Soukaku. But he spent all of his pulls on Ellen and didn't her, to which, he said to me "his account is ruined" and he won't have fun because "the next time Ellen comes up in the other banner she will be powercrept and irrelevant", he wanted the best "meta team" currently available and that's really disheartening. Personally, I am currently using Anby, Billy and Collin and loving every second of the game.

Ngl I came to ZZZ from Wuthering Waves, and got super disappointed when i lost my Ellen weapon banner. I completely forgot that other gatchas you can lose the weapon banner, while in WuWa its guaranteed. Not only it was surprising but also got me thinking that i could have had ellen C1 at this point and would be fine with an A rank W engine.. great video btw!

Hey man keep Your chin up, now you’re guaranteed for the next weapon you want to get. I play wuwa as well and the 100% banner weapon there really spoiled us. Genshin is even worse. It’s 37.5 chance to get the weapon you want because there are 2 on rare up. And only after losing twice are you guaranteed, so you need to pity 3 times if you are unlucky.

I've played a lot of Gacha games in the past, and for the first time ever I decided to play this game from launch on my own terms. I still log in daily because of the membership I purchased, but I only play when I feel like it. I don't look at tier lists for characters, I built the characters that I like. I also ended up not even using build guides. Gacha games are so stressful when you're trying to minmax everything. Just enjoy the game!

I'm a Gacha games veteran as of now, played GI for 4 years before completely getting bored of it and day 1 HSR player who and I think I'll stick with this game for even longer (light spender in both). Also played many other titles like PGR/HI3/etc etc

For ZZZ, I administrate a FB group for the game in Arabic, and I'm the only one who explains everything in detail. As for my experience so far in pulling, I don't really regret pulling Ellen, but have I heard a bit earlier about newer characters coming, I might have not pulled for her after losing 50/50 on her. I was extremely lucky/unlucky (it depends on how you see it) and got Lycaon from standard + his W-Engine + got him again when I lost my 50/50, so pulling Ellen for me was a no brainer, considering the time we're in and considering Sukako is C6, BUT! I actually found myself liking Anomaly/Distortion gameplay very much to the extent that I wish I saved my guarantee to get Jane Doe.
Lesson learned: FOMO is bad. No matter how experienced you are in Gacha games, you can always easily fall for it.

That first part. The FOMO. It hit me like a truck as soon as I started because I _immediately_ loved Ellen's playstyle and what happened? The gacha gods were unkind and I missed out on her (I was given Von Lycaon instead). And I'm still salty over it even as I'm pulling for Zhu Yuan for the same reason.
My added advice for that point: Don't skip on the agent demos that are available during the new banner pulls. They'll help you make a decision, as short as they may be.
Edit: Got Zhu Yuan on my first ten pull of the day. No regrets.
The gacha is absolutely brutal in this game so make sure to not obsesss about it. The A rank characters are a lot of fun and plenty strong to clear most content. Gathering 180 pulls is hard, but totally doable. Just takes some time.

I play the game mostly for fun, like for gameplay and character designs. It’s really fun to grind hard for polychromes to get the characters I want, and I’m pretty dedicated. I grinded for Zhu Yuan with about a week left, and did get her. I’m also working for Qingyi and hoping for luck when Jane comes

I haven't played a gacha game before zzz and from my personal experience, you don't need meta characters to have fun. I just use the 3 characters that I think look cool and maybe have one of them match the recommended typing for a mission and I got through the story easily even on the alternate harder difficulty. my main team just consists of Ellen joe (at the time I thought her banner was the default banner because I never played gacha games) Nicole and either the short bellabog CEO or Zhu yuan. I don't think that team has any synergy in the slightest, yet it got me through the story with no issues. do what you like and you'll have a blast.

The way i tend to use my pulls as f2p, is just saving until i see someone i want. Not like i can save more than i get without spending! And im just as likely to fail on one banner as i am the next. Since pity carries over, i view the limited banner not as multiple different character banners, but rather one big banner rotating the main character. When its someone i want, i pull. When its not, i save. If i get someone i want, awesome! If not, im much more likely to get the next one i want.
The biggest factor is choosing when to skip, since 50/50 is 50/50, but your guarantee is a bit more worth saving. Like at low pity with no guarantee im much more likely to pull on a character I'd like or think I'd like that im not crazy about, whereas mid to high pity with a guarantee im more likely to save if i suspect someone i want more is coming.

The burnout one and fomo hitted hard for me. I played both genshin and star rail before Zenless, the former to interact with my friends at the time, and the latter as an riot against genshin's poor management at the time.
I believe I am the only person to say this but I regret pulling for Raiden, every place I went related to genshin every was like "she's broken!", "she's a must pull!", "your account gonna be way better with her!" And after about half a year of listen to this time and time again I pulled and barely use her now while I'm saving for an character who gonna appear soon.
While star rail... I enjoyed a ton I can't deny that, got weirdly lucky and got all characters I wanted but... The endgame being based solely on the honestly repetitive combat with few changes or additions made me get burned out and quit the game.
Now with Zenless... I will take my time now, this game has a ton of things I liked from Genshin and Star rail and others.

My approach to weapon banners is, ignore them when I'm pulling for the character attached to them. Then, when the banner comes back around, and I don't have anything else I'm saving for or have enough to burn comfortably, then I'll pull for it. I'm not very interested in the cinemas since I don't find them worth the investment as F2P. The S ranks are already good enough on their own
Intresting to hear. Dont play that many gacha games, but like to play them from time to time and zzz is the first one really getting my intrest.
One of the hardest things in these kind of games is, to understand how all these free items for upgrading, pulling and other stuff they give you works. Im still struggeling to upgrade characters, just because im unsure which one to fully upgrade and use. Because im unsure if i should take the ones that are fun to play, even tho i dont like the character itself that much or if i focus more on the characters i like, even tho some dont play that cool. Realy like Anby, but her normal attack is just boring.
I pulled for Ellen for example, because i like her character/story and style, but i do see, why some people think she is boring to play compared to others, but i do not regret getting her.
But i regret not looking up the next banner beforhand, because i like the gameplay of Zhu Yuan and with her beeing the next banner, it could be a bit hard to get her too. These are atm the only characters i really wanted to focus on getting.
Thats something this and other gacha games also dont properly tell. How much gacha ressources you will get in the future. Im playing f2p, but looked at the paid stuff and was like "does this really get people enough ressources to pull enough times for a banner to get them their s-tier or does it just look fancy and like its much ressources but it isnt in the end?"
If your f2p please be sure before you pull anyone as pulling someone you won’t use for a long time is a huge waste of resources, just look up guides, gameplay and play their character demo a lot before you decide to pull!
Luckily I'm not doing anything wrong with zenless zone zero now with the gacha feature, already complete chapter 3 and find ellen is not as powerful as I imagine, now grind polychromes till next update when miyabi exist (or atleast 1 public security people), still not give my master tape to w-engines now because why

I missed the chance to pull Ellen and had FOMO until I did research. I realized that pulling her wouldn’t have made any sense with the units I have. Zhu Yuan made perfect sense for my units which made me come up with a real solid team as a F2P player. If I had pulled Ellen, I still would be trying to come up with a team to build, even if she’s strong. Thank you!!!

As of reaching IK 39,here's some advice for your f2p savings.
-some content can be more enjoyable if your characters are underpowered,so don't race to max level your characters,or feel you NEED to pull a limited character to progress.
-once you pull the limited character you want,SAVE. There is no reason to run to the weapon banner or "build pity" unless you are trying to snag one last rate up A rank,which even then should be max 20 searches if you're unlucky.
The last thing you want is to get a C1 instead of a new character on a f2p account.
I'm IK lvl 38. My first 5 star was Rina so my initial team was Rina Anton Anby. My first stable banner 90 pull got me Rina's W-Engine. Much later I decided to go for Ellen - won my 50/50 and I have found her extremely fun and replaced my Anton. I lost my 50/50 on her SHARK W-Engine (got a 2nd Weeping Cradle smh) but luckily got the shark 30 or 40 pulls later.
I'm glad I have the Ellen-Rina-Anby team. I'd love to pull Lycon or maybe Grace so I have have 2 good teams for Shiryu Defense. Just wish levels 30-40 didn't feel like such a slough, I'm just being gatekept from the gate because I've done literally everything I can but need to spend stamina to get accout level up experience. Level 40 can't come soon enough

yeah i fell for the Fomo cause i wanted to make a Maid team, but then i got to the point where you play as Zhu Yuan and i had to make a new accoount to save pulls for her cause i found her far more fun to play. thankfully, i managed to pull Nicole's W Engine early and the base team of Billy, Anby, and Nicole are amazing in the meantime

I was slightly late to the game, found myself trying to get Ellen but my last pull before they changed the banner was S rank Nekomata (I guess that means I lost the 50/50 🤷♂️). It took me a while to get to that point, not realising I hadn’t actually considered what kind of teams I want to build and whether Ellen would have even been a good fit.
This video reminded me to take a step back, chill and make sure I get the characters that suit me.

I recently got Argenti early at 29 pity on HSR, and I was like “oh he seems cool I’ll build him” but I’m struggling to deal with his damage compared to boothills (I’ve gotten my Boothill to do 700k outside of SU/DU/MOC/Fiction, any of the endgame stuff and my Argenti can sometimes do 100k.) I’m still building him ofc, but it’s kinda discouraging with the low damage. I think I’m disappointed because someone in the HSR discord server said he’ll be good in Fiction, but idk. I personally don’t agree with 5*/S-rank weapon having less value than new characters, it’s just depends on how you want to play the game. In both Genshin and HSR, depending on the character, their signature weapon can make a ton of differences. While they are unnecessary if you want to keep on pulling the new meta and keep up with the FOMO, newer characters are usually just better, S rank weapons can be good to have if you have a certain character that you wish you could play with them longer without feeling bad. Like people complain their favorite characters like Jingyuan and Blade in HSR can’t keep up with newer characters, you can fix that by vertical investment, just cherry pick the cheapest way to upgrade that said character, which is usually their signature weapon next to new supports.
I know some people got burnout specifically because they got tired having to farm mats for new meta character and their relic/artifacts/disc, if you want stability for certain characters imo going for their weapon is a good choice. and if you really don’t care about the next characters, it become easier to decide. I personally still like going for characters more, but i don’t regret getting some of the 5 star weapons because they gave my fav characters a stronger staying power.

I couldn't agree more on what you said on that video!. Genshin was my first gacha game and i did so many things wrong and mainly because of FOMO, it got to the point i had a burnout and stopped to play for 2 years! I tried to get back playing but my account was so bricked that i couldn't had fun at all and just dropped 100%. Now with ZZZ i'm just having a BLAST of happiness, i got luck that my 50 S rank character was Nekomata cause i wanted her so bad since i saw the trailers and when i got her i was like "NO F WAY BRO". Anyways I'm skipping Ellen and Probably Zhu Yuan and Qingyi too, Jane Doe got my interest but since Nekomata is my Physical team i think i will skip her too cause i don't think it will be good for my account so probably will be skipped (which sads me a little but it's okay i can get her another time!) So for now i will just wait for Miyabi and keep all the polychromes i can (currently with 18354). Oh and i'm F2P.
I'm sorry for the wall text but i just needed to say all of that because i was one of the people who was constantly searching every guide possible for my Genshin Impact account and doing everything wrong which took me to have a burnout and a huge dislike of the game. So to finish this please guys don't let FOMO destroy your account, be super WISE while pulling for characters and make 100% sure that the character you are pulling satisfies you in terms of gameplay enjoyment!. (Sorry if i wrote something wrong, English isn't my first language ^-^)

I love being able to do the errands in like 5 minutes instead of 20-40 minutes in genshin, I hace already beaten the available story by level 38 but I did it because it was genuinely fun. And the thing about pulling for the one you want is true, I pulled for ellen because i love sharks and like how she synergizes with soukakou. I like her playstile. But seeing the cop lady i don't find the ammo mechanic or her combos to be that fun.
I think one thing that everyone should do ( especially if you're thinking about breaking out the wallet): DO THE MATH! If you want to try and get these characters and don't have the guaranteed, take a second and do the math.
You only have 30 summons? Thinking about spending 60$? Well go find a tool or do the math yourself and see the odds of getting what you want in those pulls. It's so easy to say "Nah I'm not going to spend 60$ for a 10% chance at Ellen" as opposed to thinking "Oooo 30 pulls will definitely get me Ellen!" (I didn't do the math there, just an example)
Ties into your #2 point, but it really just makes it concrete. If you just take the time and do the math, it really helps you save and resist the urge to spend.

How I see it is that no character will ever pay itself back even if that character single handedly clears for you all endgame content to get any possible reward
Let’s say you can’t complete the last levels of shiyu frontier, even if pulling a character would make you clear those stages you were not clearing before, for that character to pay itself back it would take years
Skipping a character will automatically give you more pulls than whatever stage that character let’s you complete
So pulling for meta is utterly pointless, you pull what you like, always
Small note: this doesn’t mean that I think people should never pull dupes or weapons, but you should pull those because you enjoy a character you like feeling more powerful
Other small note: in some cases characters are sadly shit and they feel bad to play because of how weak they are regardless of how much you like their design, so maybe don’t COMPLETELY dismiss meta….Dehya teached me that
I believe in pulling your favorite characters and the pulling teammates that will make them shine the most, is my best way to have fun!
Point no. 1 is why, as much as I love her design, I'm not getting Ellen. Plinkdashing in phone is not easy for me to do (might be possible if I play in PC), which is needed to keep her stacks topped. I've already tried using her in the story against the Twins and she did not click with me. I prefer Zhu Yuan's gameplay, which is keep-away style.
As for burnout, that is true. I'm actually feeling it now on HSR.

I definitely agree with your first point but the bad part is Ellen is the missing piece for me right now. I have a Lyca +1 and a maxed Soukaku. I have the shark bangboo and the s tier w-engine for lyca. All f2p btw. The missing piece is Ellen (technically I don't have her w engine or our favorite onis but those are pretty small things to be missing.)

I can say burnout is a real thing. I've experienced an extreme case of burnout when I played Genshin, I forced myself to grind out the daily commissions and bosses, to the point where it felt like a 9-5 job. I started hating Genshin, and eventually I just stopped, and it's been 1 and a half years since I last opened the game.

Ever since ZZZ was announced, I've always wanted to get Lycaon out of everyone (he looks cool!). Fastforward to the game's release, I managed to pull him on my Beginner Banner, so I considered myself incredibly fortunate!
Now, I'm at that point where I'm anxious because my luck might go downhill from here, lmao. Even my indecisiveness has made things so overbearing because I don't know if I can make the correct choice, so to say.
The "Need New Toy Syndrome" is too real in this game, especially because they have a training room. That itch of wanting to try stuff out really messes with me way more than it should, lol.

Also it wasn’t the weapon banner but I got Lycaon’s signature on the standard when I wanted Lycaon himself, my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. But at least I got Corin’s signature (she’s my main) and I’m halfway to being able to choose a standard 5 star!

I don't have a tonne of gacha game experience. My plan is to try and play it casually with "waifu over meta" and pulling the characters I just like. I'm not too fussed about building a super badass or optimal team.
Now, for those exact reasons, I want to pull Ellen dammit! Simply don't have enough tapes to guarantee pulling her now though.

Cause nothing is more deflating than watching your “waifus” get their ass kicked cause they don’t have a strong team. But I wish you luck!

Ellen is probably going to be a mainstay on my account for a very long time because she matches up with my personal playstyle. But as a meta unit I doubt she will last long and the playstyle is one that *really* isn’t for everyone. Meanwhile I’m not sure if I’m gonna like how Zhu Yuan plays as much because her tech just isn’t the way I play fighting games compared to Ellen. So ultimately it’s best to find some way to try out characters and get a feel for if you like them or not, since your enjoyment and what works with your playstyle is the most important.
As an example from another game: Pikachu might be better than Sephiroth in smash but a Sephiroth main gets more mileage out of Sephiroth than Pikachu.

Same here. After i tried Ellens demo, ive been wanting her coz her gameplay. So i did a lot of reroll until i got her with Lycaon which is a plus and soldier for mono fire.
I think the first question is how much player skill matters: the camera angles here do produce a bit more trouble with situational awareness than is normal for Genshin Impact, but as with that game being able to play makes up for a lot numerically. After that, make sure you've used all the guaranteed characters so that you know how you feel about the major combat styles. At the least, you want to find the ranges you're most comfortable at. After that you'll have a pretty good idea whether you'll enjoy using a new character - and that's the big thing if your priority is to have fun playing.
Doubt I'll manage to get Ellen, but I'm trying for her due to one oddity of my play through both Genshin Impact and Star Rail: even though the basic concept of "slow the action down" appeals to me I never seem to end up with any cold-based characters and would like that to change. If not, well, I know I can use Billy, Anby, Nicole, and Corin and will eventually get random new characters - and it seems practical to aim for cold-based Bangboos. (I am hoping we get co-op all-Bangboo missions eventually, as while there are good technical reasons it'll be hard to give us co-op most of those reasons should break down once we're working with Bangboos.)
Player skill matters to a certain degree at the absolute end game but outside of that it doesn’t matter to to much. But hope you get your Ellen and hope you enjoy her!
I'm F2P and when I started ZZZ on release, I found Ellen to be super fun in her trial. In my first 50 pulls on the standard banner, I got Rina and was happy with her on a team with Anby as my stun and Corin as my main DPS. I was able to save up enough for about 80 pulls on the Ellen banner and was so happy I won the 50/50 and I had M6 on Sokkaku so I decided to build her alongside Ellen and have Anby for my stun. Been having a blast these last couple days when today, I got my 2nd pity on the standard banner and managed to get Lycaon. I was in complete shock that I accidentally got everyone perfect for Ellen but I am glad since she's my absolute favorite so far. When I get far enough into Shiyu Defense to need 2 teams, I'm going to have my original team there with me alongside my main team.
While playing with Corin, I also got the Butler Bangboo twice and then I also got the Shark Bangboo for Ellen beforehand. For some reason, I just got super lucky with the Bangboo banner to get 3 S-Ranks within 30 pulls
I've been having a blast and being able to be lucky, at least up until now, I am happy with and won't be taking it for granted, since like said in the video, that luck will run out. I'm not gonna pull for the next banner and I currently have 10k+ polychromes so if there's a character later in the future, I may pull, but for now, I am perfectly content :D

It's funny that you mentioned Nilou. I pulled her without Nahida not because I knew she was good, but because I wanted a hydro applicator that I wasn't already using that could replace my Candice on my Alhaitham team (and I like the funny dance she does after certain attacks). I had so much fun with that team! I was a Day 1 F2P player that quit that game at around 3.6 because I had major burnout for the reasons you outlined in this video, but I may give it another shot after remembering the good times...
Thanks for reminding me about all that, because now I DEFINITELY know that I won't make the same mistake with ZZZ. This game is too good to drop!

In my personal opinion, I wasn’t a fan of Ellen but after using her and then getting into the story I’m glad I pulled for her, but in all honestly I understand if ppl hate her play style, her E1 makes her pretty much easier and only one dodge attack instead of 2

3:15 i tend to pull on the weapon banner but that’s because i’m super selective about characters. i will go through half a year without pulling for any limited five stars so when i do it’s worth it to get the weapon as well. but i think for people who like lots of characters you definitely don’t need the weapon banner

My main problem is controversy in characters I want/need. It's so difficult, that I really think about turning into some hierarchy decision-making. I like Ellen and her playstile much more than Zhu Yuan, but I don't have Liacon, and I absolutely love Quingui, who will be electo stunner for Zhu Yuan with little to no synergy with Ellen, while power creeping Enby, who I also really like and don't want to bench, and fuuuuuu........
Put Anby on one team and qingyi on the other!

This is why I’m heavily against tier list I seen some pretty good gacha games get destroyed or don’t do so well because everyone save for meta units I tend to roll with whatever my account gives me and I tend to always enjoy the game more than rerolling for the perfect account

Before starting ZZZ, I looked to Prydwen's tierlist on the characters and was sad the male characters except for the one S rank that they're all T2 and below since I only play gacha games for the husbandos. But almost two weeks later, I am now a Billy Kid main, which by the way according to that tierlist is one of the worst characters in the game. His playstyle of pew pews, spin and rolling tactics really attracted me to keep playing this game which before I only planned on trying it out since I found the TV gameplay very unappealing. I didn't also like how this is probably Hoyoverse's most coomsumer bait game with the design of the waifus but I am now hooked to the world of New Eridu and this also probably has their best combat yet.
U can make your billy shine! be on the lookout for future supports that can make him even better!
Best tip is always to pull on the last week or last day as all info on the character is out and snippet of next characters are out as well

thanks for this video. I arrived at a moment in the game where I hit a wall, the lvl 30 wall, it was pretty hard. It stops my momentum, my growth. I have to do a bit of grind each day to lvl up my characters and their engines to be able to progress.

theres also the temptation of wasting all my hard earned polychromes for ellen because im planning on building an ice team, all i got was the final piece for soukaku and my first piece of rina, i was severely disappointed but after collecting enough tapes for ellens weapon, i got her weapon and soukaku's on my first pull which kept me going thus far, love the content mate!

That's always been my saying since I started playing Genshin, don't pull for characters you don't like just because people consider them strong, I absolutely hate Hutao's gameplay, so even though she was considered one of the best DPS back in the day I never tried to pull for her, and I'll be doing the same on ZZZ, I didn't pull Ellen because even though her gameplay is cool, I know that there will be a lot of new characters in the future, and being f2p I prefer to save it to see if there will be a character that I will prefer, if not, I'll just wait for her rerun.
It's a game, it has to be fun, if it's not then what's the point???
Also I wanna talk about my experience, there was a time when I notice I was playing Genshin because I felt obligated to do the dailys every day, that I wasn't having fun anymore, so I stopped playing for about 5 months, I uninstalled it and went on to do other things that made me happier, then I started to miss Genshin, I have a great affection for the game cause it helped me at a time when I was in a really bad mental state, I missed playing, I missed the story, the events, my characters, so I installed it again, and since then I have enjoyed the game even more, because now I left aside the sense of obligation towards the game I once had, if I don't feel like playing one day I don't force myself to do it, and it's been a really good experience. Anyway, I wrote all this to say that I think your tip about burnout is by far the most important on this list, no one should play because they feel obligated to, games have to be fun, we are already obligated to work/study every day in real life, video games should serve as something to de-stress and enjoy, treating a game as an obligation instead of a hobby will only make you miserable, stay safe everyone.

Miyabi is the only other character I want Ellen, Koleda,Zhu, and Reina so Ice,Fire Either, and Lightning plus some 4*'s to support them.I'm in my happy place. I pulled Koleda and Reina both from standard banner as a double after 30pulls I'm saving until Miyabi pops up. I'm also saving my Boopins/Boopons? My Bangboo pulls. I pulled 4x got Penguin,Devil & Dupe,Bag Dupe, and another Physical Boo, So I'm fine with what I drew S-ranks are amazing howerever their investment to obtain them as a F2p isn't worth it honestly unless it's Butler since his utility is honestly universally helpful to any team comp.Also pulled on Zhu's Weapon banner 1 10 pull drew her S-rank weapon, Starlight weapon, and a Nicole dupe the game has been EXTRA Kind to me, but I'm not stupid enough to become complaicent, I have about 42pulls left I'm saving for Miyabi end of story.

Ill be honest id actually say Skip on next banner with the cops, if you happen to get Lyacon , Ellen and Soukaku it will carry you a long way
And even if you do want a electric team You already have a Breaker, DPS and Support/ Anomaly as Anby, Anthon and Rina
Thats fair to say, but I can counter to this by saying most players dont have Lyacon, meaning they will be able to make a stronger Zhu yuan team than ellen, as You can get enough pulls for both Zhu yuan and Qingyi and nicole is free, while when it comes to Ellen you have to get lucky to get lyacon and an Ellen team without lyacon is singificantly worse, and I can test to this cause I unfortunately dont have lyacon and I can feel the impact its having in the later stages of shiyu defense
I'm one of those ellen players who doesn't like her gameplay but got her for waifu purposes. Just playing to enjoy the story and characters!

the worst thing you can do in a gacha game is try to meta game it.
Like Yeah let's optimise our builds in a game where the characters you unlock are attached to a randomised loot system with a weapon upgrade system attached as well.
you hit some kind of roadblock every 5 minutes with all the currencies and the levelling systems.
you need materials to level up, but there's a cap every ten levels and you need some cash and a particular material to level that.
Then you need to level the character's individual attacks individually and they have their own materials
Then you need to upgrade the W engine and break through it's level cap as well with other other materials.
Not really lol, as someone who played gacha games for 10 years your being over dramatic lol. It’s not hard to pick your favorites and make a team around them that’s strong and optimized. You’re severely over exaggerating how hard it is to do that. You’re only limited by time progression but even then you’ll eventually get there. And the average player can’t pull that much anyway so focusing on 2-3 teams is super easy to do

I'm saving my resources cause I will preach the potential of anomaly until I quit, but bro I got Grace (huge W) from my guaranteed standard S rank. With the rest of the many pulls we've been given, I was granted my 2nd S rank pull and it was... Steel Cushion??
Oh my LORD it felt horrible. It's genuinely a dead pull for me, I don't have Nekomata, and I don't enjoy playing Corin or Billy even after I got the hang of some of Billy's movement tech. Steel Cushion is a completely dead engine on anyone that isn't a physical attack type.
I couldn't have gotten a worse S rank. I probably will never find a use for it until I one day get Nekomata (maybe), but even then I just want to push the envelope for anomaly and disorder.
Any other engine and I could have made some use of it, and any other agent would have been useful for setting up a 2nd team. Even M1 for Grace would have been preferable because it would do something.
I just have a trophy saying "Congrats, you lost your pity for this!"

Doesn't help that we have a whopping 3 stun types and Anby is the only A rank and has a guaranteed signature. I think the only S rank engines in the game right now I can confidently say won't be true dead weight (provided you use that agent type, of course) are Rina's and Soldier's? They just have generically strong benefits that anyone can make use of. I haven't memorized all the engines yet.

I only wasted about 20~ pulls this banner and stopped, because I realized I didn't really like Ellen and her gameplay, right now I got around 90 pulls saved up and hopefully I'll get Zhu Yuan since I enjoyed playing as her in the story missions

Naw bro, I dunno what all that advice was, but I don’t think I’m breaking any of it. I’m literally just pouring everything I own into A: the character I already have and want to max out, and B: the character I want that isn’t even limited. Putting all my stuff into Billy, when I can’t grind for Billy I grind materials to get Lycoan stronger in the meantime when I get him, and I grind for pulls so I can get to that juicy 300 agent pick to get mah furry boi. I dunno what I’ll do for the other character lol, I’ve gotten so many just looking for Lycoan.
