THIS WAS AT A LESBIAN CLUB IN NYC CALLED GARBOS IN TRIBECA. I RECORDED THE SHOW IN 1985. THE TAPE HELD UP AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. R.I.P. LOLEATTA WE MISS YOU.
So many of us are so thankful you not only recorded this for posterity but kindly shared it with the world. It is so rare to find live performances of any sort from Loleatta.
Oh, I loved her my entire life. She was so unique, what a voice, what groove!!! Runaway was the first song I heard from her, here in Brazil, I think I was 8 years old, and I instantly fell in love with her.
I was humbled and honored to KNOW Loleatta and WORK with her many times... I danced behind her @ THE DISCO BALL @ THE TAJ MAHAL and I also watched my Dad, ERIC FLOYD, Produce a hit remake duet of "DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY" with her and my Mom, The Goddess, WANDA DEE... when you have to sit and name THE TOP 10 GREATEST VOICES IN RECORDING MUSIC HISTORY, MISS LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY would and should be on everyone's list! Power, passion, range, technique, skill and precision... pound for pound and note for note, the divas got a golden throat! And only surpassed by James Brown, she is THE most sampled voice in history!
In my childhood days Loleatta Holloway had strong vocal on her back in the days. I love listening to disco diva like: Stephanie Mills, Donna Summer, Barbara Roy, Phyllis Hyman, Whitney Houston, Thelma Houston and Loleatta Holloway. RIP in peace Loleatta Holloway you will be sadly missed by thousands, millions of fans across the globe.
I love this song Loleatta Holloway RIP, Loleatta Holloway, Jocelyn Brown, Fonda Rae, Sharon Redd, Evelyn Champagne King and Linda Clifford, Martha Wash incredible Dance and Club Music Diva's we definitely would work up a sweat.
