I wish I could find a plumber like you in new York city. The plumbers I've run into come over and drain some water from the boiler into a bucket and say they serviced it!
I am a mechanical engineer in Philly I service just about everything from houses, cars and computers networks. Every technician should take pride in the skills that he or she learns because the learning never stops as technology evolves. Good job guys folks need to see what it is like is the real world(field work)
Just discovered (Thanks to a cellphone ability to photo shoot in tight spot) a semi plugged water jacket--on a 50 year old Gas Crane Boiler. This video helps so much with the style of commentary a plus. You may have saved a life as severe cold weather ahead could crank out the CO on that one.
my weil mclain ultra started having all kinds of problems after they were out working on street adding new water and gas lines jackhammering and they used compactor to fill street back in and pave it my whole house was shaken by the vibrations.
@@ChuckBarron A combustion analyzer breaks down eav Ch element in the combustion and lets you know how much CO, oxygen, nitrogen, and more, are in the combustion air. Very expensive, but very useful.
Where are you located, Chuck? Anywhere near nyc? If not, can you recommend someone/company? (Bronx) I had a carbo cleaning recently, and the serviceman did not remove any of the housing; he was done in half an hour and charged me $975. He vacuumed, but I have no proof of his having removed rust or anything else since he didn't take it apart. He said he cleaned the chimney, but who's to know. (The gas boiler is 40 yrs. old.)
Hi, Chuck -- 1) Ballpark figure: What might a carbon cleaning of a gas boiler (40-yr-old dinosaur) go for (allowing for inflation) in 2021? 2) Should the casement always be removed during a cleaning? (Seems like an obvious yes.) Thank you!!!
I've got to move to your town for your service. I had a water heater problem, similar to the other video I saw where you vacuum out the dust in the filter and fixed. Instead, the repairman said I have to get a new water heater. I had leakage in the AC condenser drain pan, they said my AC is just too old and have to get a new unit. It was a simple case of clogged up drain PVC pipe. I had a high level of Carbon Monoxide from my boiler. They never said anything about the cleaning the soot. Instead, they said I have to get a new unit and hooked me up with their salesman. I need an honest service technician like you who also knows what he is doing. It is more than the money issue. Every time I get conned by these people, it really frustrates me. thanks you.
Wish you worked in New York City. I have a banging radiator when it starts up and I feel like beating the shit out of it, but it’ll just hurt me, lol. I think it’s a settled pipe and not the radiator since I put a brand new valve, new vent, etc. The boiler is a brand new New Yorker by Burnham. The house is over 100 years old...
Chuck Barron Yup. Natural Gas steam boiler. Here in New York City we pretty much all use steam, but these banging sounds started after we had the new boiler installed.
It is so hard to find a good mechanic and a good person at the same time in this day and age ,God bless you ,I love the video You taught me a lot, I’m a do it yourselfer, when ever I can But I also know my limits. Thank you once again

not sure who you can call....we south jersey. local gas utility may have a team.
The vent would be under negative pressure, probably wouldn't leak much CO.
Tech in house....good eye adam...thanks my man.
@@ChuckBarron either way good catch and it needed to be addressed.
The smoke pipe goes straight up and into the wall and all the search going back into the furnace that’s what’s wrong with it
not sure what you mean frank

The plumbing does not lie....no need to lie...so many do. I do not get it.
Just get to cleaning and inspecting; nobody gives af to hear you bash others work.
kind of like bashing the youtuber...lol....
Thanks for this video, although I always call a professional when it comes to stuff like this I can at least make sure they do the job properly
Very true!
Great tutorial. I self manage my apartments and this will be my go-to instructions. How often do you service boilers? Is yearly too often?
Depends! I like to do at start of season. check em mid season and close em out in spring.
Great video my man...
