I don't think that's the correct title. I know many people who aren't rich, they don't go for refurb iPhones because that's a risk, you might potentially trash 200 dollars on a second hand phone. They go for cheaper android phones, usually by Chinese manufacturers like the ones under BBK electronics. The only ones who go for these refurb iPhones are people who care too much about the social status even though they themselves do not fall in that social class who can afford them, so it absolutely makes sense why Lew is so intrigued by the fact that such a market exists.

Yeah, I agree. That phone is in good condition, and it's a fine phone. You're not going to do better getting a new phone for $200, and it's also a great phone for a kid.
It’s actually amazing man, I got a 11 PM in 99.8% physical condition, 96% battery and everything works flawlessly, All that for 711$ which is amazing for back in 2020
Cats out here buying a brand new phone to put it in that condition anyways and talk down on renewed phones
It's July 2021 and I'm still considering iphone 8 plus (over the 8) one of the best smartphones to buy

I’ve always bought refurbished things and they look almost 100% new. Renewed just means cleaned whereas refurbished will basically look new

I don't know one person that buys Used or renewed phones. Most people just get the new phone on a plan so they don't have to pay all at once or they just go for a cheaper phone. In Australia even minimum wage workers can afford the newest iPhones since the wage is so high. If you're talking about a third world country on the other hand then you cant really compare.

It needed the Foxconn cable because the fake lightning cables always die quickly. The fake charging bricks, on the other hand, are usually quite hardy. As for a sim card removal tool, just use a needle. ^_^

Update 3 months later, I got the XS, iPhone 6 was on its last legs. The phone is still very new looking never been dropped but it just became slow af lol, switching apps causes Spotify to glitch and the music stops a little it’s like using a computer with 2 GB RAM. A - Perfect (no scratches, no dents, etc.)
B - Good (little scratches, maybe 1 small dent, etc.)

I have a refurbished iPad Pro and it came pretty well for me, at first I got scared wondering if the product is going to have any defects. 1 year with my iPad and no problems at all so far everything is good
I bought one and only had a few very minor scratches on the sides but the phone worked as new, never gave me any issues.

@@raffayasif7326 3utools is 90% good enough, other things you might want to check is display touch sensitivity(fake display is not sensitive), True Tone feature, check if it’s water damaged by looking into the sim tray for red indication, use gps, camera, buttons and switches, Touch ID n Face ID, make a phone call to check mic, speaker quality and connection...I’ve bought and return 3 Xs Max last month due to various problems and finally just decide to save up and buy a new phone...I normally request for 100% battery life and sometimes they have it.

My mom had a 3.5 year old iPhone 7 that I now have just lying around, it's around 86% capacity left. She now has my old XR and I used it equally as long, and was definitely way harder on the device overall. Yet somehow, that one is STILL at 89% on the battery. So I wouldn't be surprised if this regular 8 still had its original battery considering it was 91%. The OG owner likely just used it for around a year or so, and traded it in/upgraded to the X, XS, or 11.

Yikes, I've bought x3 refurbs only problem was an XR had a scratch inside the back camera which was pretty disappointing, don't recall any wear etc the screen and back glass was probably replaced as well as battery.

I had that experience with ebay. I had wanted a lumia 1020 just to see the hype around the camera. The phone worked at first then fell apart. Lack of update to windows 10 frustrated but using the camera when it worked was cool.
I bought a refurbished Samsung Note 5 almost 5 years ago. It came in the same kind of white box and with a non-Samsung regular charger. It did have a Sim tool though. It still works very well today. I think you just have to watch who you are buying them from. The seller who sold it to me is still selling today and still has a high rating after all this time.

So I bought this exact phone from a seller through Walmart for about the same price and my reasoning was this: I didn’t have dslr camera money and honestly spending money on just a webcam seemed absurd. So for 200 bucks my stream got a lot better and with EpocCam and fast internet I’m completely wireless and I have added functionality. For me this was a smart move!
I bought a refurbished iPad Air from that company and it came exactly like that. it had dents in the back and it was suppose to be the 5th Gen with tough ID but it was the one without Touch ID.
I bought a refurbished xr that arrived today, and I'm already sending it back. Major dents and damage to exterior, Siri doesn't work meaning top mic by camera doesn't work, and the screen randomly flashes

Got an iPad pro 2017, iPhone XR, Samsung Tab S6 from Decluttr renewed w 1 yr warranties over past few years. Even battery is covered. Keeping an older device working is more eco than buying new, like the reasoning for keeping an older car running than buying new. Yes, not all of us can afford or want to pay retail for good consumer electronics.
It has force touch over the SE2 though right? I have a 2020 SE and such a great little phone I really do enjoy it and apple will support it til 2025 which is the best. I got the black 128gb model.

The price is relative to the hardware, quality, release and engineering that goes into the device. The iPhone 13 Pro Max cost $1100 because its basically the top of the line smartphone right now. 10 hour screen on time and 3 great 4k cameras. Of course its expensive but its not mad unless it wasn't worth the price. Same goes for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

It could be worth the price if I was the real owner of the thing! They will brick it within a 5-6y life span with their software tricks. Always pretending that the device can't keep up with today's technology. The fact is that they intentionally downgrade the previous generation in every iteration of iOS and then argue it's not reliable and they stop supporting it to sell you a brand new device. And here we are, fools, buying a brand new device every other year to satisfy our own emptiness 😑
The thing with renewed or used phones sold in bulk is that each one will be different and one might have more or less scratches or dead pixels than the other one. It's a gamble, unlike new or open box phones which the chances of it being broken or damaged more than another is waaay less.

Apple's logic "Saving the environment by not included extra stuff you don't need" then goes ahead and includes a charging cable with a USB-C charger end that is incompatible with all our past iPhone chargers...
I bought my first iPhone 7 in about September last year. It was refurbished and it literally ran like brand new. My experience with used phones are pretty good.

iPhone 8 is the newest phone I’ve ever owned 😂😂 I refuse to get a newer model because I like the home button. It took forever to accept that the charging and earphones have the same input 😂

I have a different twist on it, i kinda like that people buy cheap stuff, it means prople have a sense of sound economic decisionmaking. If the best selling car would be like a $50000 tesla.. i would worry about us being in a debt bubble.
I kinda like buying used stuff in general, saving the world, boosting my budget etc, but actually not in phones, battery decay and rapid advancement is the problem. Like a new phone for $400 is better in many ways than a used like s10 for like $400, better battery, larger screen, longer support time etc, why go old and uncertain when you can go new and certain? But i did have a iphone 4s for like 7 years, so im kinda done with old phones and are willing to spend some to uphold that, i guess.

13:42 well i have an iPhone 6 in my cupboard I used it for a good 3 years and it was still on 92% battery health with the orignal battery and it was my primary phone
