I got a refurbished iPhone 7 this morning when the touch ID and home button in general on my 6s stopped working. Cost me $150 on amazon. Would have paid Apple 150 to fix it.
My thoughts and what some people would say is refurbished is better than a new smartphone because it has been thoroughly inspected and put to the wringer to make sure the buyer won't have any issues. I mean if you can get a discount compared to retail then why not buy refurbished. Personally, I don't need the retail box because most people just throw that stuff away. Is $100-200 worth it for the retail box? I haven't bought a new smartphone in about a decade. All of my phones are refurbished and I would say 90% of them didn't have any issues. The ones that had issues were still covered by the return policy or warranty so that means there is hardly any risk of coming out a transaction with a lemon. Of course, not all products labeled refurbished or renewed are all the same. You just have to buy from a reputable reseller.
