Meanwhile Digimon is getting more mature because most of the player-base are young adults and up by now and they can be more risky of story-telling. And Digimon is consider a niche franchise by now but it don't mean it's bad!

@L Lawliet Yeah, but people came back later and understood how amazing the Generation is. Generation 4 and 5 were the Hight of the Franchise, 5 just had a weird start. People didnt instantly realized how good it is, but it still was and now people even get that. You cant compare this to 7 or 8. Do yourself a Favor and try Generation 5 again. It's amazing games, if you got over the first badge.
I think part of the problem is that a huge part of the playerbase *can't* grow up - anytime a new game comes out a bunch of dudes from the 90's crawl out of the woodwork to ask where Charizard is.

I have a lot to say about gen 5 and its sudden love now, so the upcoming text is a bit long, you have been warned. You know that people used to call me a dumb idiot for liking gen 5 back in the days? I'm serious, I went through so many years thinking I had a horrible taste in pokemon due to the amount of shit that was thrown over me by the internet and even by f*cking friends when I defenden gen 5 back then. I was always scared for those questions "what's your favourite gen?'" and the amount of judgement I got when I admitted it was gen 5. And now I know that the hate on gen 5 wasn't justified at all from the very beginning: it was just people not liking change and jumping on the bandwagon to hate it. So why does everyone suddenly loves it now, what made them realize they were good? Easy. Because it's not a trend anymore. The recent games, with SwSh in particular, are the new scapegoat because of the amount of problems they have. If it weren't for that, gen 5 would still be the most hated gen - it took a game full of problems to make people realize how polished and good the gen 5 games really were. And that's fine, you can change opinions, you can realize things only later. But now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon again, and saying that gen 5 games were the best. Even though I wouldn't find it relatable it is still an outstanding idea that pulls me in. It is such a fun premise I truly believe anyone could enjoy it.
The problem isn't even about the idea, it's about how it's executed. Both of these ideas are generic, but one of them is overused and wasn't executed in a creative way and that's why it feels pretty boring.
I need to stop watching those SWSH reviews, I get mad every time. Not mad really, just disappointed. Pokemon games have such a big potential for immersion and I see fantastic ideas all over the place, but Gamefreak seems to never listen to fans and stick to the same patterns again and again. They even made good things in the past, just to remove them for no reason. I'm a pokemon fan since red/blue, I didn't buy Let's Go and USUM, this time I was like it's gonna be on the switch it must be a good game... unfortunately it is not. In the end, I guess I'm wrong because they make a butt load of money from this.
I totally feel you. I can recommend Pokémon Colosseum, it’s a spin off made by Genius Sonority for GameCube. It’s demanding, difficult and has a quite dark story (for a Pokémon game). The fact it only uses double battles makes it a lot more strategic. For the future I’m hoping for strong competitor in this genre. Temtem doesn’t seem to be what I’m looking for. I don’t want another game that starts by waking up in a small town living with your single mom...

I am you. You are me. Played every one from blue and up, but I stopped at the audacity that was USUM. The removal of Dexnav, PPS, Roller blades, mega evos, soar (which was underrated in ORAS) and a big post game like HGSS or BW2.

I've been dying for another pokemon game like that where you start off in the hub city. Maybe catch your first pokemon instead of being a special child who just moved to the region or something stupid like that.

Actually here is an interesting add on to that. Gamefreak does not make pokemon models and animations. Creatures inc does. Creatures inc also made the ones in the genius sonority games meaning the potential for higher levels of quality models and animations always existed. The battle revolution game also uses their own future proof models like what gamefreak promised starting with gen 6 models, but then stated they had to remake all models and animations in Sw/Sh instead of porting them again. All gen 1-2 pokemon were from the stadium games, while gen 3 pokemon were from the coliseum games. So yea a lot of their excuses were just half assed crowd control used to rein in the crowds that wouldn't bother fact checking a single claim.
Shouldnt we use Strength-in-numbers and Mass-Tweet Gamefreak and its Big Shots? Shouldnt we do that, so they are aware of stuff? Send them some Links maybe? Theres literally Documentarys about the state of this Franchise. Shouldnt we send those to someone?!?
"A battle where we're meant to lose" This is something I think Pokemon has been missing for a long time. Even going backwards into the better gens, I feel like there's very few trainers who are deliberately overpowered as fuck. When an antagonist or champion or whatever is bigged up as being this hyper-powerful figure, I want the battle with them to be something I genuinely struggle to win. In B/W and B/W2, when I face Ghetsis, I want him to have at least late 50s Pokemon and his Hydreigon should be 64-66. I want a fight that I have a good chance of losing. I want gym leaders with Pokemon that are considerably stronger than mine. Most of all though, I want more intelligent AI that actually switches Pokemon frequently, uses the right moves and uses items effectively. At the very least, I think gym leaders and the elite four, as well as the team boss should have at least EV perfect Pokemon, and even better if they are IV perfect as well. These people are meant to be strong as a job, I'd like to think they actually invest time in building strong Pokemon. I'm sick of winning every single battle ever. I want to lose at least once to most gym leaders. Winning first time round should feel like an accomplishment instead of the norm. Just winning all the time without a real challenge doesn't feel much different to cheating.

@@slevinchannel7589 SwSh is just so low effort all-round, you can tell it was rushed to meet the yearly schedule. Let's hope Striking Sword and Steel Shield and/or Gen 4 remakes have a bit more effort put into them and are actually playable games, although I really don't have my hopes up at all.

What's worse is that the games constantly try to make a big deal out of the gym leaders etc. Especially Sword & Shield where all gym leaders are basically celebrities and have a whole stadium behind them and then you just oneshot everything with no effort. There's so many fundamental immersion breaking things like this that makes the game incredibly dull and implausible.. You don't even have to train your pokemon anymore... They literally evolve in your party without being used once in some cases. How does that make any sense? Immersion broken yet again.

The problem is gamefreak made and even now makes too much Money with sword and shield because the fanbase was so hyped for the first console 3d Pokemon maingame. They dont need to improve that much If its the best selling Pokemon Game. Thats so sad i Hope they will improve a Lot for possible D/P remakes but my hopes are not that high
There is no hope for the series until it is announced that a new studio has been working on a game or is working on a game. Until we get a studio with vision, budget, and time to basically fix the series there is no hope for *any* of it being good.
Fingers crossed that the next game's sales are abysmal, the game after that even more. That is what had to happen to a bunch of other yearly release games before they got their 2-3 year development cycles.

A $60 game + $30 DLC + Subscription GTS/Home + Subscription Bank + Subscription NSO = ...Yea, this is a bit TOO much for me as a young adult. "A fun disappointment" is the perfect description for my experience with swsh. So much of the game is a lazily done and boring, yet I can't help but enjoy it a little.
You've stepped on my nerd rune... Regarding the gym leaders only using a certain number Pokemon of a certain level; This is explained by Brock in Origins. He chooses two of his lowest level Pokemon because it's his job as a leader to test new trainers. Misty, as the next leader, would be the first leader to test a trainer's progression. It makes perfect sense *IF* it's properly explained, which no game has ever done! This ties in perfectly with the after-game of Platinum and Kanto portion of Gen.2, where leaders have much larger teams with much higher level Pokemon and some even use strategies such as setting up Stealth Rock on the first turn. SwSh made me so mad when I realized that it was just going to follow the same old copy & paste train track progression system where all the leaders are fought in a set order. Imagine if we could go to any town and challenge the leaders in any order and they choose their teams according to your own trainer level - yes, trainer level. A new leveling system that tracks the trainer's level and not just the Pokemon they use.
they also made it a point to mention before the games release that there was a gym for every type in galar. so i thought this was going to be the case, 15 gyms to choose from, but only needing 8 to qualify for the league but nope. they dont even mention the other gyms in sw/sh, aside from random npcs having throwaway lines about it. false advertising, if you ask me. same as "being able to obtain more apricorn balls." yeah, like a 1% fucking chance from 4 apricorns at once, that you have to spend forever to collect jesus, pokemon sucks now

This makes sense but for the first two gyms only, after those the real difficulty should be in actual strategies, not levels. GF should implement Gym Leaders with tougher and tougher strategies and synergy between their Pokemons
@@pascalsimioli6777 Levels play a key part in the progression system in Pkmn games so a level-based system is absolute, but i completely agree that strategy should also be a key part of every gym. It's just disappointing how basic and unimaginative the games are. The Elite 4 also disappoints me in every game. In the DP anime it's made clear that the E4 members often challenge the champion for the title. You'd think there would be more to being the champion in the games, where the E4, gym leaders, rivals and other random trainers challenge you for you title, but i doubt we'd ever see anything like that while GameFreak are in control.
@@2KXMKR I am currently playing Radical Red (a rom hack) and, while I don't agree with everything they did, they gave gym leaders teams with strategies and counters, for example it's a bad choice to go against brock with water types

You are paying full retail price... for essentially ONE extra save file and the same fucking game... AGAIN! ...and no, the switching User "trick" doesn't work if you want online functionality for that "file." I love EVERY idea you bring up. I've always wanted them to change up the starters and give you a choice of like Dragon, Steel or Ice etc. Its like they take 3 steps back and a half step forward jesus. Best review/opinion on this game I've seen.
Ikr! Personally my favorite pokemon are Chandelure and Lucario, so it would be really, really awesome for this to happen. Instead of your partner pokemon, the pokemon that's supposed to be closest to you the whole game, being either a fire or water type (be honest, the last few grass types haven't been super cool). Because honestly, they're not my favorite types (quote mentioning my favorite pokemon in the beginning) and part of the time I dont even have the basic 3 types on my team! Also, one of the reasons I was really interested in pokemon eevee/pikachu is because how you meet your partner is in the grass. Because, like in the video, it's become generic and unearned to just randomly get a choice between three pokemon. Grass. Fire. Water. Especially since their not super effective on most of the following gyms. Only the first three. It would be way cool to be able to form a pokemon bond with a pokemon your really attached to when you first see it. Omfg why is this so long sorry

You know what I would think would be a nice idea regarding starters? We start the game when we’re a little kid, much too young to start our journey, but for our birthday Mom lets us pick out our very own pokemon. You get to pick whatever type you want and each option has a starter, and you get to have that pokemon as you grow up and when you’re old enough, you set off on your own journey with this pokemon you’ve had for years, you and your best friend! I’m really tired of a professor who we just met handing us a pokemon for literally no reason. Also, you see people around the world who’ve had pokemon be apart of their families, but for some reason, the player has never had that
What sucks the most out of all of this is that no one will listen to these complaints, and because it's Pokemon, people will continue to buy their games.

Except it is evolving. They got tons of Pokemon running around instead of just being in random grass areas, They had random insane high levels roaming around which made the world feel more real, and they had Pokemon just roaming in their natural habitats and had them change depending on the weather. Was the game good? No. Did it help progress the series? Yes.

Dude I definitely felt the same way about the rivals. Like Hop is.....okay, I don't really hate him like a lot of people but I don't like him much either. Marnie being your main rival as you start from Spikemuth would've been much more compelling. Bede being the Galarian Gary Oak that's always ahead of you both and makes sure to let you know everytime you meet (overall have him more involved in the plot as well) until eventually he faces you in the champion cup. Like you said they should allow the protagonist to lose battles to rivals. Take it even further and make Bede 6-8 levels above your team to increase difficulty of his rival battle and for god sakes give him a diverse team that doesn't get 6-0'ed by grimmsnarl. If you do manage to beat Bede his disbelief will feel genuine and your victory earned each time. This alone would've made a more interesting story without even touching anything else.
bede couldve actually had a good character arc, but it all happened off screen and him going “i wore pink and trained also i accept you win” doesnt make me like him lol, it was wasted potential honestly
The UK is weird when it comes to measurements. People’s heights are usually measured in feet and inches, amounts of specifically milk is measured in pints, car speeds are in miles per hour and people’s weights are usually in stone and pounds. Everything that isn’t a similar sort of size is almost always done in metric.
Its bc we used imperial till the 50s, sometimes we use cm, sometimes feet. Miles are always used for driving. Milk and alcohol are the only ones measured in pints

I hate how Spikemuth is so much of a corridor, honestly. I’ve seen no one mention it, but seriously. There’s no reason at all to go back to it, not even the most barebones reason. You just go through a straight line. That’s the *ENTIRE CITY.* You can’t even go into a single house. Nope. It really sucks, because I’d love to explore the city, I wish you could see what the normal citizens of Spikemuth are like. For example a mom of one of the crazy fans that’s like “what the fuck is my son doing, Nani?” Instead of what we got. Just a straight line. It makes me so sad and Piers and Marnie are so much my favorites in this game, but their city gets nothing. No goth clothing, or culture, or normal people. It’s just sad...
As much as this would be a small change and still probably wouldn't redeem how boring the wild area is, but why not have migration or something. Certain pokemon in certain months, either do it like black and white or do it in real time. Maybe you could have an Alolan Pokémon that only shows up in one season/month, a lot like how Ring Necked Parakeets migrate here to the UK(although to be fair, they practically live here now - I'd know because they live in my area). I mean it would definitely add a little bit more British flavour, even if it is very niche.

It would be sweet if dynamax itself was fueled by the support of the crowd. The ideas you mentioned about wanting a more exciting central mechanic involving fame were great.
You forget the 300$/€/... for a switch console, if someone's only playing Pokémon as one and only franchise. So you need a switch (300bugs), Pokémon Sw or Sh (60), Nintendo membership (15), Pokémon Home (15), Pokémon Bank (5), Expansion pass (30). Makes 425 bugs for the full experience with only Sword or Shield. And people got upset about Us/Um, where everyone had the option to skip Su/Mo and wait a short year for the "third version" to get the full experience for only 45 (€ in my case) for the game (85€ for both) and Pokémon Bank and that's it. Back in Gen7, I didn't like the Alola-games that much, compared to previous gens, but the only good thing Sw/Sh did for me was that I appreciate the Alola-games even more and love them by now.
I don't think he liked them that much, they were ridiculous but at least they had better motives compared to Chairman Rose. That made their story slightly better and enjoyable compared to Rose.
I kind of wish that some of the post game included fighting new trainers that want to become a champion, or maybe you can become a gym leader if you want to and you ocationally you see a challenger thats in the champions league, trying to become the champion, and you get to choose what type of gym leader you are, your gimic, your throwing style and all of that kind of customization.
1 thing I want from pokemon is to be able to accessorize your pokemon. Give it clothing or something like that, and one thing I dont understand is why they didn’t do it in X and Y, a FASHION BASED pokemon game. Why not give your pokemon a bracket or scarf or clothing, I think that would be cool. Like how in the one series on Pokemon TV Hops Wooloo has a bracelet, why cant we do something like that?
Imagine if we start out with having Marnie as our rival with Piers being the first gym battle where only a couple people and some team yell members are cheering you and Marnie on. Eventually you run into Hop and he finds out you want to try and beat Leon so he makes it his mission to beat you as he can tell you could actually defeat his brother if you wanted to. After beating Hop multiple times he becomes deflated and quits the league, going on to become Sonia’s assistant and eventually contacting you about the legendary dogs being spotted in the Weald. Throughout the story, you pick up on Rose’s true intentions of trying to use Eternatus as a source of unlimited power and giving him the ability to expand his reach via fear and his status. You can actually participate in the dynamax Pokemon attacking cities as they pop up while you are right there in the city or you go in place of Leon bc he was busy with champion things. Also, you have people that actually recognize you and will run up to you to battle or so on even after the main story (looking at you paid DLC).
I never realized how simple the things that improve the experience are! Like oh my god, duh??? Of course it’d be so cool to have an announcer! And build up a fanbase with your appearances. Going through pokemon school???? That’d be so good! Also like, what if Hop was flat out erased and the champion was OUR BROTHER? That’d be a much better story than this junk
Your city kid idea made me think what of my own idea so what if you could choose what city/town your from. Obviously not all of them but a selection where your character comes different backgrounds and certain origin places you choose will make the story harder or easier. You could be a rich kid or from the hood. You get different perks and story paths as well
Is no one gonna talk about the comedy in this video? All of the Wailord jokes, to the 19:57 joke are funny and keep me from just thinking entirely of the sad reality of these games. The jokes really give the video personality and make it stand out to a normal essay, right?
This is the nittyest of nitpicks but for the female characters when you get the bike your helmet gets a ponytail NO MATTER WHAT HAIRSTYLE YOU HAVE! Yes, even the pixie cut! Im glad they gave us a new bike outfit with the DLC, because that was really stupid!
Boosted and leveled the vocal audio in this version and DRASTICALLY reduced the transition music volume. I recorded a whole segment about music that never made it in to the final video because it was just a lot of rambling. Suffice it to say that piece used in the transitions is one of a couple tracks I really like from game. I kind of hated the gym battle music at first but it's since grown on me (I blame Jim Sterling for this).

i hate getting babied during the game, i wish at the beginning it could ask if you’re an experienced trainer or not. if i pick yes, then it hop won’t say “HEY SETH WOAHHHHHH CHECK IT OUT!! I once read an article from the developers, talking about ORAS, saying that they don’t distinguish between experimental and permanent features in game. Even the creators don’t know what to keep and what to drop, and when they do eventually keep something, it’s two or three games later, and it’s awful.
SP is still strong with ORAS too. Just going online gives you passes, and the secret bases are constantly updated. Its like people create their own pokemon gyms. Too bad there were no water secret bases. I liked Team Aqua's premise of a secret base
Gen 5 was the Gen that gave the most Pokémon out of every region, giving us great Pokémon in each type (including Bug Type which always got weak Pokémon). Gen 5 actually cared about the characters and story, giving us the best evil team, the best Gym Leaders (who are actually play a part in the story), and some of our best rivals that are not one dimensional friends or jerks. They also pushed the DS to its limits with their graphics and sound. You could tell that GameFreak our in a lot of effort on BW and BW2. However, the fans complained about how trash this gen was because of the ice cream and garbage Pokémon. They complain that they are forced to use Unova Pokémon in BW1, even though in the previous 4 Gens, Magikarp, Zubat, Abra, and others have all made appearances in every single game. They say that the characters are annoying and hypocritical, when DP’s characters are way more annoying and unnecessary. So, BW sales underperformed. And after XY and SM outsold BW, GameFreak knew they don’t need to try anymore. They gave a lot of effort on BW and it underperformed. They didn’t try as much on XY or SM and it outsold BW. By the time SS was coming out, they knew it will sell and they didn’t even try with anything from the Dexit, the badly rushed Story, the bad animation and textures, to selling an uncompleted game for $60 with DLC to get some older Pokémon back. And guess what? It worked! It sold. GameFreak knows they don’t have to try anymore because anything they put out, the fans will buy it. They don’t have to take anymore risks or try anything new like BW did after it underperformed. They could keep repeating the same game and it will keep selling. They don’t have to make a good Pokémon Game because they know it will sell. That’s why there was no Pokémon Z because 3rd Versions don’t sell as well as a new generation. This will keep going on with the massive success of Sword and Shield.
When the anime does a much better job of telling the whole game's story with much better motivations and fights in four episodes with barely any set up than the entire game, which is like, twenty hours long.
Been playing this, and it's ok I guess, but once this coronavirus lockdown ends, probably gonna trade it in to Gamestop. Temtem is basically a better version of Pokemon that actually caters to the competitive scene, and has a lot of things that should have been in Pokemon. And the battles actually require strategy. You can't take 1-2 Temtem and expect to blow through the story, you always need to be raising different ones, because the dojos (their version of gyms) can be freaking HARD!
The Cat Who Saw You Naked I don’t think you understand that some of the other games WERE actually difficult. Have you ever played DPPT, or BW? Those games aren’t as easy as you think, and yes, Nintendo DOES cater to the competitive scene. I also don’t understand how you say you only need one or two Pokémon to win the game. That’s not how it works, in the better games, it is impossible to beat the game with 1-2 non-legendary Pokémon. Also, YES, Pokémon does require strategy, in competitive. Have you ever tried to be good at competitive? I can assure you, that at 500 straight wins in ORAS Battle Maison, that it definitely requires strategy. So try doing some research on the other games, and not just this disaster of a product
@@krypticscythe2012 I've played them all. But while their is difficulty, for the most part I was able to just use the same 6, swapping one out once in a while. But you can't do that in TemTem. You actually need to keep a bunch of TemTem around your current level to handle different situations, and they use a stamina system instead of PP. So people can't just spam their strongest move.I do admit, competitive has a lot of challenge, although certain things like Stealth Rocks make a lot of popular types unviable, since they pretty much lose half health upon entering.

You know what would be cool? If Leon was YOUR big brother, and Hop wasn't around. I don't dislike Hop but your character just feels....there. Not really PART of the story, even the adults push you aside and be like "Oh no no no, let the grown ups handle this."
In Sun and Moon Lusamine literally says what do you do with a useless pokemon, you get rid of it (paraphrasing). And we are supposed to feel shocked and angry at her for saying that, but thats how the game makes you play. Like if I like Luvdisc I should be able to use a damn Luvdisc, or how many times you'd have to restart for a good stats starter instead of being able to train it up to where you want it (this has been remedied somewhat but used to be a big issue)

We actually do commonly use inches in the United Kingdom, it's pretty much the only exception though, we rarely use any other measurements that aren't metric.
People bashing Sun and Moon in the past is the reason why Gamefreak stop trying with Sword and Sheild. Sun and Moon has : -Decent story after Black and White/bw2 -Team skull concept is original -You’re being the first champion is original -crazy person as the main boss villain which is also the first women boss villain -Gladion edgy pose is very iconic and we don’t even have anyone with an iconic pose in SwSh And SwSh have none of the things I listed
@31:52 Actually, there's a story explanation for it. Gym leaders will use different teams depending on how many badges you have. If you have no badges, they'll purposefully use weaker teams, etc. This is shown in the Red/Blue anime, where Brock is about to pull out his most powerful team, but upon realizing that you have no badges, he instead pulls out a weaker team on purpose. Milo is doing the same thing. The 6 Pokemon on his holders are his most powerful team, but he's using a weaker team on purpose because you have no badges.
6:36 if they made it to where the animation for dynamax changed based on how desperate the situation is or even a different animation for gigantimax it'd be awesome like for dens at first it'd be cranked to max desperate because you have only one pokemon and this other pokemon which "overpowers" you is wild, not even tamed but slowly you become more sure until its just base anim gigantimax it'd change based on the gigantimax (like toxtricity would be like, more cocky or smthn and shit like melmetal would be like "struggling to hold let alone throw" like it'd change if you had one pokemon or six, if the battle is hard or not, (grass gym would be normal anim and champion fight would be again, cranked to max) but as a whole its a baby game so this wouldnt work plus its kind of a cashgrab 23:01 about this, THEY HAVE EVERYTHING. THEY HAVE PIERS FOR YOUR STARTER, MARNIE FOR YOUR RIVAL, AND TEAM YELL GRUNTS FOR EXP. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING TO MAKE THIS AND YET THEY JUST DONT TLDR: gamefreak is lazy and doesnt take into account anything the fanbase wants, like how did shuckle get in but not shit like gible
I think I just wanted more lore-based locations for dynamax pokemon rather than just finding them in random dens. Like finding a giant gyrados behind waterfall or finding a giant heatmor in a mountain--something more meaningful than what they set up in sw/sh
Kinda have to disagree with you in regards with Bede's "arc". The concept is interesting but the execution was lackluster. The most important parts of his arc happen off screen and he just vanishes from the story until his shoe horned battle in the tournament.
Legit, I tried my hand at making a free, open world non-profit Pokemon game, Inspired by BOTW and Monster Hunter, and got a "cease and desist". But no, of course, the OFFICIAL STUDIO, Legit, can't even handle doing something like that cause its "Too Hard". They're not creating from passion, they're creating from greed, "How little can I put into this product and the customer will still buy it?". It Pisses. Me. Off.

Am I the only one who has wanted a pokemon game where the character is an adult or teen who Doesn't live in the smallest town in the region, but maybe the central hub city and you can decide which gym leader to oppose for the first four maybe. AI determines the lvl and pokemon the first 4 leaders would use based on your pokemon lvls and then it's pretty much linear for the last four gyms. I enjoy the idea of the Last Gym Leader being some Elite 4-esque lvl trainer like Clair, or Drake, or Blue. I'm also exhausted at the idea of an evil team. Just give us a bunch of pokemon thieves and robbers and maybe a small rocket-esque syndicate that you can choose to avoid, take on or even join, as this new pokemon game has multiple choice answers to dialouge now that can determine wether I'll be a good or bad trainer... Hell, even your pokemon, depending on their nature or the pokemon itself, could leave you if you go bad.. Imagine having a clefairy or chansey as a bad/evil trainer 😂😂😂
I was one of those people worried about not seeing my favorite older 'mon in the game. Then I realised, "Oh yeah, I'll most likely onlt focus on the new ones, and I'm probably only gonna get 6 for my team anyway," so that happened. Now, I realise just little I care that so few of them ARE in the base game.
The most commendable part of this masterpiece of the video is your strength-based approach for suggestions. You don't just rag on the game's faults but talk about what was done well and how to focus the game on it and expand it. The section on Marnie and her town is singlehandedly the best and most unique discussion about Pokemon on RUclips. Most people focus on gameplay only, you addressed more than just story.
So there's a point I agree with and a point I disagree with. I disagree with the idea that the first gym leader should have 6 pokemon because while it's true most players would have caught 6 or more Pokemon by that point, it's not guaranteed they're being used. I catch what I can, but I store everything I don't use because it's easier to manage a team if you pace it slowly, matching what gym leaders (should) do. Temtem tried the 6v6 asap approach and I got burnt out fast. I agree with what would make Home cool because I was saying the same thing before Home launched, at least for the most part. If Pokemon Home was more like a more in depth version of Pokemon Dream World, it'd be fine. It should have been the 'core' of Pokemon instead of just another bank. Some app I can open up to still play with my favorite Pokemon instead of just keep them there until a game decides to let me bring them there instead.

All I have are four games left and I'm still having more fun with the older generations than I am with regular Sun/Moon and this one. That's plain sad. @@FlareJollyDragoness I agree even a general age group to chose from would be an amazing step up . They have aged up the playable characters before with black and white. It’s just sad that I’ve been playing Pokémon since I was 7 starting with Red and yellow. I’m now 24 and still being forced to play as a 10 year old. I’d even be fine with non customizable character models with multiple ages to chose from .
(Going to sort of repeat some of the points you made here but just to explain how I felt playing) As someone who comes from the same type of background in the UK they were going for with Marnie and her brother I wholeheartedly agree with your points on that. I was particularly disappointed because not only did they reserve this angle entirely for NPCs but they never even give Marnie and Piers that much attention anyway, I kept feeling like they were going to build on it but then by the end of the game it felt like Marnie just dropped off the face of the earth and Piers just stops really mentioning any of their problems. Honestly Marnie and Piers were so relatable and well done that even with the meagre treatment they got, they were some of my favourite characters in the series, so it's disappointing to imagine how good they could have been if they and their situation had been fully realised.

@L Lawliet Yeah, but people came back later and understood how amazing the Generation is.
Generation 4 and 5 were the Hight of the Franchise, 5 just had a weird start. People didnt instantly realized how good it is, but it still was and now people even get that.
You cant compare this to 7 or 8.
Do yourself a Favor and try Generation 5 again. It's amazing games, if you got over the first badge.
I think part of the problem is that a huge part of the playerbase *can't* grow up - anytime a new game comes out a bunch of dudes from the 90's crawl out of the woodwork to ask where Charizard is.

You know that people used to call me a dumb idiot for liking gen 5 back in the days? I'm serious, I went through so many years thinking I had a horrible taste in pokemon due to the amount of shit that was thrown over me by the internet and even by f*cking friends when I defenden gen 5 back then. I was always scared for those questions "what's your favourite gen?'" and the amount of judgement I got when I admitted it was gen 5. And now I know that the hate on gen 5 wasn't justified at all from the very beginning: it was just people not liking change and jumping on the bandwagon to hate it.
So why does everyone suddenly loves it now, what made them realize they were good? Easy. Because it's not a trend anymore. The recent games, with SwSh in particular, are the new scapegoat because of the amount of problems they have. If it weren't for that, gen 5 would still be the most hated gen - it took a game full of problems to make people realize how polished and good the gen 5 games really were. And that's fine, you can change opinions, you can realize things only later. But now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon again, and saying that gen 5 games were the best. Comments and streams are filled with positivity and when someone says otherwise, they are suddenly called uncultured swines again? Yeah, f*ck off. I hope everyone enjoys the games and realize they were wrong and start forming their own opinions from now on.

Even though I wouldn't find it relatable it is still an outstanding idea that pulls me in. It is such a fun premise I truly believe anyone could enjoy it.

The problem isn't even about the idea, it's about how it's executed.
Both of these ideas are generic, but one of them is overused and wasn't executed in a creative way and that's why it feels pretty boring.
I need to stop watching those SWSH reviews, I get mad every time. Not mad really, just disappointed. Pokemon games have such a big potential for immersion and I see fantastic ideas all over the place, but Gamefreak seems to never listen to fans and stick to the same patterns again and again. They even made good things in the past, just to remove them for no reason. I'm a pokemon fan since red/blue, I didn't buy Let's Go and USUM, this time I was like it's gonna be on the switch it must be a good game... unfortunately it is not. In the end, I guess I'm wrong because they make a butt load of money from this.
I totally feel you. I can recommend Pokémon Colosseum, it’s a spin off made by Genius Sonority for GameCube. It’s demanding, difficult and has a quite dark story (for a Pokémon game). The fact it only uses double battles makes it a lot more strategic. For the future I’m hoping for strong competitor in this genre. Temtem doesn’t seem to be what I’m looking for. I don’t want another game that starts by waking up in a small town living with your single mom...
At least the trees in Zelds Breath of the Wild look detailed...

Actually here is an interesting add on to that. Gamefreak does not make pokemon models and animations. Creatures inc does. Creatures inc also made the ones in the genius sonority games meaning the potential for higher levels of quality models and animations always existed.
The battle revolution game also uses their own future proof models like what gamefreak promised starting with gen 6 models, but then stated they had to remake all models and animations in Sw/Sh instead of porting them again. All gen 1-2 pokemon were from the stadium games, while gen 3 pokemon were from the coliseum games. So yea a lot of their excuses were just half assed crowd control used to rein in the crowds that wouldn't bother fact checking a single claim.

"A battle where we're meant to lose" This is something I think Pokemon has been missing for a long time. Even going backwards into the better gens, I feel like there's very few trainers who are deliberately overpowered as fuck. When an antagonist or champion or whatever is bigged up as being this hyper-powerful figure, I want the battle with them to be something I genuinely struggle to win. In B/W and B/W2, when I face Ghetsis, I want him to have at least late 50s Pokemon and his Hydreigon should be 64-66. I want a fight that I have a good chance of losing. I want gym leaders with Pokemon that are considerably stronger than mine. Most of all though, I want more intelligent AI that actually switches Pokemon frequently, uses the right moves and uses items effectively. At the very least, I think gym leaders and the elite four, as well as the team boss should have at least EV perfect Pokemon, and even better if they are IV perfect as well. These people are meant to be strong as a job, I'd like to think they actually invest time in building strong Pokemon.
I'm sick of winning every single battle ever. I want to lose at least once to most gym leaders. Winning first time round should feel like an accomplishment instead of the norm. Just winning all the time without a real challenge doesn't feel much different to cheating.

@@slevinchannel7589 SwSh is just so low effort all-round, you can tell it was rushed to meet the yearly schedule. Let's hope Striking Sword and Steel Shield and/or Gen 4 remakes have a bit more effort put into them and are actually playable games, although I really don't have my hopes up at all.

What's worse is that the games constantly try to make a big deal out of the gym leaders etc. Especially Sword & Shield where all gym leaders are basically celebrities and have a whole stadium behind them and then you just oneshot everything with no effort. There's so many fundamental immersion breaking things like this that makes the game incredibly dull and implausible..
You don't even have to train your pokemon anymore... They literally evolve in your party without being used once in some cases. How does that make any sense? Immersion broken yet again.
Honestly I feel like they started it on the DS and then ported it the last year that's why it came out shitty

As someone who grew up with gen 4 they better not mess that up because if they do I feel like people will be a lot angrier.
There is no hope for the series until it is announced that a new studio has been working on a game or is working on a game.
Until we get a studio with vision, budget, and time to basically fix the series there is no hope for *any* of it being good.
Fingers crossed that the next game's sales are abysmal, the game after that even more. That is what had to happen to a bunch of other yearly release games before they got their 2-3 year development cycles.

You've stepped on my nerd rune... Regarding the gym leaders only using a certain number Pokemon of a certain level; This is explained by Brock in Origins. He chooses two of his lowest level Pokemon because it's his job as a leader to test new trainers. Misty, as the next leader, would be the first leader to test a trainer's progression. It makes perfect sense *IF* it's properly explained, which no game has ever done!
This ties in perfectly with the after-game of Platinum and Kanto portion of Gen.2, where leaders have much larger teams with much higher level Pokemon and some even use strategies such as setting up Stealth Rock on the first turn.
SwSh made me so mad when I realized that it was just going to follow the same old copy & paste train track progression system where all the leaders are fought in a set order. Imagine if we could go to any town and challenge the leaders in any order and they choose their teams according to your own trainer level - yes, trainer level. A new leveling system that tracks the trainer's level and not just the Pokemon they use.
they also made it a point to mention before the games release that there was a gym for every type in galar. so i thought this was going to be the case, 15 gyms to choose from, but only needing 8 to qualify for the league
but nope. they dont even mention the other gyms in sw/sh, aside from random npcs having throwaway lines about it. false advertising, if you ask me. same as "being able to obtain more apricorn balls." yeah, like a 1% fucking chance from 4 apricorns at once, that you have to spend forever to collect

This makes sense but for the first two gyms only, after those the real difficulty should be in actual strategies, not levels. GF should implement Gym Leaders with tougher and tougher strategies and synergy between their Pokemons
@@pascalsimioli6777 Levels play a key part in the progression system in Pkmn games so a level-based system is absolute, but i completely agree that strategy should also be a key part of every gym. It's just disappointing how basic and unimaginative the games are. The Elite 4 also disappoints me in every game. In the DP anime it's made clear that the E4 members often challenge the champion for the title. You'd think there would be more to being the champion in the games, where the E4, gym leaders, rivals and other random trainers challenge you for you title, but i doubt we'd ever see anything like that while GameFreak are in control.
@@2KXMKR I am currently playing Radical Red (a rom hack) and, while I don't agree with everything they did, they gave gym leaders teams with strategies and counters, for example it's a bad choice to go against brock with water types

Ikr! Personally my favorite pokemon are Chandelure and Lucario, so it would be really, really awesome for this to happen. Instead of your partner pokemon, the pokemon that's supposed to be closest to you the whole game, being either a fire or water type (be honest, the last few grass types haven't been super cool). Because honestly, they're not my favorite types (quote mentioning my favorite pokemon in the beginning) and part of the time I dont even have the basic 3 types on my team! Also, one of the reasons I was really interested in pokemon eevee/pikachu is because how you meet your partner is in the grass. Because, like in the video, it's become generic and unearned to just randomly get a choice between three pokemon. Grass. Fire. Water. Especially since their not super effective on most of the following gyms. Only the first three. It would be way cool to be able to form a pokemon bond with a pokemon your really attached to when you first see it.

You know what I would think would be a nice idea regarding starters? We start the game when we’re a little kid, much too young to start our journey, but for our birthday Mom lets us pick out our very own pokemon. You get to pick whatever type you want and each option has a starter, and you get to have that pokemon as you grow up and when you’re old enough, you set off on your own journey with this pokemon you’ve had for years, you and your best friend!
I’m really tired of a professor who we just met handing us a pokemon for literally no reason. Also, you see people around the world who’ve had pokemon be apart of their families, but for some reason, the player has never had that

The irony of a game focused on evolution that refuses to evolve with the gaming industry and its player base.
Except it is evolving. They got tons of Pokemon running around instead of just being in random grass areas, They had random insane high levels roaming around which made the world feel more real, and they had Pokemon just roaming in their natural habitats and had them change depending on the weather. Was the game good? No. Did it help progress the series? Yes.

I actually had to nerf myself in order to eat any real challenge out of it. The Corviknight line literally fucking sweeps nearly the entirety of Sword.
Dude I definitely felt the same way about the rivals. Like Hop is.....okay, I don't really hate him like a lot of people but I don't like him much either. Marnie being your main rival as you start from Spikemuth would've been much more compelling. Bede being the Galarian Gary Oak that's always ahead of you both and makes sure to let you know everytime you meet (overall have him more involved in the plot as well) until eventually he faces you in the champion cup. Like you said they should allow the protagonist to lose battles to rivals. Take it even further and make Bede 6-8 levels above your team to increase difficulty of his rival battle and for god sakes give him a diverse team that doesn't get 6-0'ed by grimmsnarl. If you do manage to beat Bede his disbelief will feel genuine and your victory earned each time. This alone would've made a more interesting story without even touching anything else.

People’s heights are usually measured in feet and inches, amounts of specifically milk is measured in pints, car speeds are in miles per hour and people’s weights are usually in stone and pounds. Everything that isn’t a similar sort of size is almost always done in metric.
Its bc we used imperial till the 50s, sometimes we use cm, sometimes feet. Miles are always used for driving. Milk and alcohol are the only ones measured in pints

I hate how Spikemuth is so much of a corridor, honestly. I’ve seen no one mention it, but seriously. There’s no reason at all to go back to it, not even the most barebones reason. You just go through a straight line. That’s the *ENTIRE CITY.* You can’t even go into a single house. Nope. It really sucks, because I’d love to explore the city, I wish you could see what the normal citizens of Spikemuth are like. For example a mom of one of the crazy fans that’s like “what the fuck is my son doing, Nani?” Instead of what we got. Just a straight line. It makes me so sad and Piers and Marnie are so much my favorites in this game, but their city gets nothing. No goth clothing, or culture, or normal people. It’s just sad...
As much as this would be a small change and still probably wouldn't redeem how boring the wild area is, but why not have migration or something. Certain pokemon in certain months, either do it like black and white or do it in real time. Maybe you could have an Alolan Pokémon that only shows up in one season/month, a lot like how Ring Necked Parakeets migrate here to the UK(although to be fair, they practically live here now - I'd know because they live in my area). I mean it would definitely add a little bit more British flavour, even if it is very niche.

It would be sweet if dynamax itself was fueled by the support of the crowd. The ideas you mentioned about wanting a more exciting central mechanic involving fame were great.
You forget the 300$/€/... for a switch console, if someone's only playing Pokémon as one and only franchise. So you need a switch (300bugs), Pokémon Sw or Sh (60), Nintendo membership (15), Pokémon Home (15), Pokémon Bank (5), Expansion pass (30). Makes 425 bugs for the full experience with only Sword or Shield.
And people got upset about Us/Um, where everyone had the option to skip Su/Mo and wait a short year for the "third version" to get the full experience for only 45 (€ in my case) for the game (85€ for both) and Pokémon Bank and that's it.
Back in Gen7, I didn't like the Alola-games that much, compared to previous gens, but the only good thing Sw/Sh did for me was that I appreciate the Alola-games even more and love them by now.

I kind of wish that some of the post game included fighting new trainers that want to become a champion, or maybe you can become a gym leader if you want to and you ocationally you see a challenger thats in the champions league, trying to become the champion, and you get to choose what type of gym leader you are, your gimic, your throwing style and all of that kind of customization.

1 thing I want from pokemon is to be able to accessorize your pokemon. Give it clothing or something like that, and one thing I dont understand is why they didn’t do it in X and Y, a FASHION BASED pokemon game. Why not give your pokemon a bracket or scarf or clothing, I think that would be cool. Like how in the one series on Pokemon TV Hops Wooloo has a bracelet, why cant we do something like that?

My agreement is more on his suggested solutions. That appeals so hard to the Social Worker in me.
Imagine if we start out with having Marnie as our rival with Piers being the first gym battle where only a couple people and some team yell members are cheering you and Marnie on. Eventually you run into Hop and he finds out you want to try and beat Leon so he makes it his mission to beat you as he can tell you could actually defeat his brother if you wanted to. After beating Hop multiple times he becomes deflated and quits the league, going on to become Sonia’s assistant and eventually contacting you about the legendary dogs being spotted in the Weald. Throughout the story, you pick up on Rose’s true intentions of trying to use Eternatus as a source of unlimited power and giving him the ability to expand his reach via fear and his status. You can actually participate in the dynamax Pokemon attacking cities as they pop up while you are right there in the city or you go in place of Leon bc he was busy with champion things. Also, you have people that actually recognize you and will run up to you to battle or so on even after the main story (looking at you paid DLC).
I never realized how simple the things that improve the experience are! Like oh my god, duh??? Of course it’d be so cool to have an announcer! And build up a fanbase with your appearances. Going through pokemon school???? That’d be so good! Also like, what if Hop was flat out erased and the champion was OUR BROTHER? That’d be a much better story than this junk
Your city kid idea made me think what of my own idea so what if you could choose what city/town your from. Obviously not all of them but a selection where your character comes different backgrounds and certain origin places you choose will make the story harder or easier. You could be a rich kid or from the hood. You get different perks and story paths as well

This is the nittyest of nitpicks but for the female characters when you get the bike your helmet gets a ponytail NO MATTER WHAT HAIRSTYLE YOU HAVE! Yes, even the pixie cut! Im glad they gave us a new bike outfit with the DLC, because that was really stupid!
Boosted and leveled the vocal audio in this version and DRASTICALLY reduced the transition music volume. I recorded a whole segment about music that never made it in to the final video because it was just a lot of rambling. Suffice it to say that piece used in the transitions is one of a couple tracks I really like from game. I kind of hated the gym battle music at first but it's since grown on me (I blame Jim Sterling for this).

I once read an article from the developers, talking about ORAS, saying that they don’t distinguish between experimental and permanent features in game. Even the creators don’t know what to keep and what to drop, and when they do eventually keep something, it’s two or three games later, and it’s awful.
I hated it tbh lol.. I had more fun playing pokemon sun on my note 5 using citra lol
SP is still strong with ORAS too. Just going online gives you passes, and the secret bases are constantly updated. Its like people create their own pokemon gyms. Too bad there were no water secret bases. I liked Team Aqua's premise of a secret base
Gen 5 was the Gen that gave the most Pokémon out of every region, giving us great Pokémon in each type (including Bug Type which always got weak Pokémon). Gen 5 actually cared about the characters and story, giving us the best evil team, the best Gym Leaders (who are actually play a part in the story), and some of our best rivals that are not one dimensional friends or jerks. They also pushed the DS to its limits with their graphics and sound. You could tell that GameFreak our in a lot of effort on BW and BW2.
However, the fans complained about how trash this gen was because of the ice cream and garbage Pokémon. They complain that they are forced to use Unova Pokémon in BW1, even though in the previous 4 Gens, Magikarp, Zubat, Abra, and others have all made appearances in every single game. They say that the characters are annoying and hypocritical, when DP’s characters are way more annoying and unnecessary. So, BW sales underperformed.
And after XY and SM outsold BW, GameFreak knew they don’t need to try anymore. They gave a lot of effort on BW and it underperformed. They didn’t try as much on XY or SM and it outsold BW. By the time SS was coming out, they knew it will sell and they didn’t even try with anything from the Dexit, the badly rushed Story, the bad animation and textures, to selling an uncompleted game for $60 with DLC to get some older Pokémon back. And guess what? It worked! It sold. GameFreak knows they don’t have to try anymore because anything they put out, the fans will buy it. They don’t have to take anymore risks or try anything new like BW did after it underperformed. They could keep repeating the same game and it will keep selling. They don’t have to make a good Pokémon Game because they know it will sell. That’s why there was no Pokémon Z because 3rd Versions don’t sell as well as a new generation. This will keep going on with the massive success of Sword and Shield.

When the anime does a much better job of telling the whole game's story with much better motivations and fights in four episodes with barely any set up than the entire game, which is like, twenty hours long.
Been playing this, and it's ok I guess, but once this coronavirus lockdown ends, probably gonna trade it in to Gamestop. Temtem is basically a better version of Pokemon that actually caters to the competitive scene, and has a lot of things that should have been in Pokemon. And the battles actually require strategy. You can't take 1-2 Temtem and expect to blow through the story, you always need to be raising different ones, because the dojos (their version of gyms) can be freaking HARD!

Those games aren’t as easy as you think, and yes, Nintendo DOES cater to the competitive scene. I also don’t understand how you say you only need one or two Pokémon to win the game. That’s not how it works, in the better games, it is impossible to beat the game with 1-2 non-legendary Pokémon. Also, YES, Pokémon does require strategy, in competitive. Have you ever tried to be good at competitive? I can assure you, that at 500 straight wins in ORAS Battle Maison, that it definitely requires strategy. So try doing some research on the other games, and not just this disaster of a product
@@krypticscythe2012 I've played them all. But while their is difficulty, for the most part I was able to just use the same 6, swapping one out once in a while. But you can't do that in TemTem. You actually need to keep a bunch of TemTem around your current level to handle different situations, and they use a stamina system instead of PP. So people can't just spam their strongest move.I do admit, competitive has a lot of challenge, although certain things like Stealth Rocks make a lot of popular types unviable, since they pretty much lose half health upon entering.
I think a hard mode needs to give Trainers Pokemon great IVs and EVs. Along with Egg Moves and holding items.

In Sun and Moon Lusamine literally says what do you do with a useless pokemon, you get rid of it (paraphrasing). And we are supposed to feel shocked and angry at her for saying that, but thats how the game makes you play.
Like if I like Luvdisc I should be able to use a damn Luvdisc, or how many times you'd have to restart for a good stats starter instead of being able to train it up to where you want it (this has been remedied somewhat but used to be a big issue)

We actually do commonly use inches in the United Kingdom, it's pretty much the only exception though, we rarely use any other measurements that aren't metric.

-Gladion edgy pose is very iconic and we don’t even have anyone with an iconic pose in SwSh

@31:52 Actually, there's a story explanation for it. Gym leaders will use different teams depending on how many badges you have. If you have no badges, they'll purposefully use weaker teams, etc. This is shown in the Red/Blue anime, where Brock is about to pull out his most powerful team, but upon realizing that you have no badges, he instead pulls out a weaker team on purpose. Milo is doing the same thing. The 6 Pokemon on his holders are his most powerful team, but he's using a weaker team on purpose because you have no badges.

like for dens at first it'd be cranked to max desperate because you have only one pokemon and this other pokemon which "overpowers" you is wild, not even tamed but slowly you become more sure until its just base anim
gigantimax it'd change based on the gigantimax (like toxtricity would be like, more cocky or smthn and shit like melmetal would be like "struggling to hold let alone throw"
like it'd change if you had one pokemon or six, if the battle is hard or not, (grass gym would be normal anim and champion fight would be again, cranked to max)

I think I just wanted more lore-based locations for dynamax pokemon rather than just finding them in random dens. Like finding a giant gyrados behind waterfall or finding a giant heatmor in a mountain--something more meaningful than what they set up in sw/sh

Kinda have to disagree with you in regards with Bede's "arc". The concept is interesting but the execution was lackluster. The most important parts of his arc happen off screen and he just vanishes from the story until his shoe horned battle in the tournament.

Legit, I tried my hand at making a free, open world non-profit Pokemon game, Inspired by BOTW and Monster Hunter, and got a "cease and desist". But no, of course, the OFFICIAL STUDIO, Legit, can't even handle doing something like that cause its "Too Hard". They're not creating from passion, they're creating from greed, "How little can I put into this product and the customer will still buy it?". It Pisses. Me. Off.

Am I the only one who has wanted a pokemon game where the character is an adult or teen who Doesn't live in the smallest town in the region, but maybe the central hub city and you can decide which gym leader to oppose for the first four maybe.
AI determines the lvl and pokemon the first 4 leaders would use based on your pokemon lvls and then it's pretty much linear for the last four gyms. I enjoy the idea of the Last Gym Leader being some Elite 4-esque lvl trainer like Clair, or Drake, or Blue.
I'm also exhausted at the idea of an evil team. Just give us a bunch of pokemon thieves and robbers and maybe a small rocket-esque syndicate that you can choose to avoid, take on or even join, as this new pokemon game has multiple choice answers to dialouge now that can determine wether I'll be a good or bad trainer... Hell, even your pokemon, depending on their nature or the pokemon itself, could leave you if you go bad.. Imagine having a clefairy or chansey as a bad/evil trainer 😂😂😂
BW2 i think are the only pokemon game to start off in a city.
I was one of those people worried about not seeing my favorite older 'mon in the game. Then I realised, "Oh yeah, I'll most likely onlt focus on the new ones, and I'm probably only gonna get 6 for my team anyway," so that happened. Now, I realise just little I care that so few of them ARE in the base game.

So there's a point I agree with and a point I disagree with.
I disagree with the idea that the first gym leader should have 6 pokemon because while it's true most players would have caught 6 or more Pokemon by that point, it's not guaranteed they're being used. I catch what I can, but I store everything I don't use because it's easier to manage a team if you pace it slowly, matching what gym leaders (should) do. Temtem tried the 6v6 asap approach and I got burnt out fast.
I agree with what would make Home cool because I was saying the same thing before Home launched, at least for the most part. If Pokemon Home was more like a more in depth version of Pokemon Dream World, it'd be fine. It should have been the 'core' of Pokemon instead of just another bank. Some app I can open up to still play with my favorite Pokemon instead of just keep them there until a game decides to let me bring them there instead.
Omg your idea for making the story different is making me so hyped for a game that doesn't even exist. They could have done so much here!

Me too. Why can't we be given a choice of being a kid, teen, or adult? It's the *8th* generation for crying out loud! Why can't we look like our real selves, our real ages? I've been a fan since Gen 3, but I'm so disappointed in the series now. This, Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, and US/UM are the games I currently don't have nor ever want in my collection. All I have are four games left and I'm still having more fun with the older generations than I am with regular Sun/Moon and this one. That's plain sad.
I also love the ideas this guy said in the video, I would pay money for these ideas!

It’s just sad that I’ve been playing Pokémon since I was 7 starting with Red and yellow. I’m now 24 and still being forced to play as a 10 year old. I’d even be fine with non customizable character models with multiple ages to chose from .

(Going to sort of repeat some of the points you made here but just to explain how I felt playing) As someone who comes from the same type of background in the UK they were going for with Marnie and her brother I wholeheartedly agree with your points on that. I was particularly disappointed because not only did they reserve this angle entirely for NPCs but they never even give Marnie and Piers that much attention anyway, I kept feeling like they were going to build on it but then by the end of the game it felt like Marnie just dropped off the face of the earth and Piers just stops really mentioning any of their problems. Honestly Marnie and Piers were so relatable and well done that even with the meagre treatment they got, they were some of my favourite characters in the series, so it's disappointing to imagine how good they could have been if they and their situation had been fully realised.
