  • The dreaded recall...we all get them! The job took me a lot longer than it normally would have, as I wasn't really feeling myself on this day (I explain a bit more at the end of the video).
As always, thank you all for supporting the channel, I appreciate it!

Ex military of 22+ years, retrained as a gas engineer, I suffer with PTSD, anxiety and depression. No-one else can see what's going on because it's all going round in your head and your head alone. Don't bottle it up talk to someone even if it's a stranger whose willing to sit and listen. I know where you're coming from. Can exchange details if you wish even if you just want to vent 👍🏼

I have been in the trade for over 45 years and after seeing your fault finding skills and ability to communicate this to others reassures me that there are some excellent engineers out there
Well done and thanks for all the excellent content
Remember to take some quality time out for yourself and your family

Sending you a virtual hug. Been there myself. My wife had cancer 12 years ago ( all good now) work was my escape, but it catches up with you. At a distance it’s easy to see but when you’re in it, hard. Best wishes ❤

Anxiety/stress is all consuming, you live in the moment. You are not alone
You would be surprised just how many people suffer in silence, people are afraid of talking because of ridicule….this is not the case. People are here to listen
    Nothing lasts forever

I think you were right to open up Chirag, took courage to do it but you did it because something inside said you needed to. The comments show you're not alone mate. You have an amazing amount of support and empathy, that shows the sort of guy you are. Reach out in anyway you need to. Just as you did here.

Mate you are an absolute legend and I can’t speak for others but I’ve gained so much knowledge from watching your videos and you’re always a pleasure to watch.
Look after yourself as well as that family and if all else fails, put the kettle on make a cuppa cha and put your feet up. It might not fix anything but i doubt it’ll make anything worse either. 💪🏻

I feel you man. I've been in the gas trade over 25 years and it can be tough at times working by yourself, too much time to think and dwell on the problems in and outside of work.
Having a struggle myself at the moment all over a stepping outside my comfort zone and the dreaded 'doing work for family'
A wrongly placed shower pump at my sisters (not fitted by me). It worked for 6 years when they moved in then broke, they've had it changed twice in the last year by local plumbers (they live an hour and half away from me)
Its a big job and expensive to put it right, it need re-siting out of the loft, all the cylinder cupboard needs re- designing and piping with new 22mm pipe cold feed from a really dirty tight, rockwool filled low pitch roof and outlets added plus a s flange and outlets to the shower, fused spur etc. So much to potentially go wrong.
My mother lives across the road, nagging "why this? why that? why you making such a big deal about? why cant you just get on with it? but don't leave them without hot water and heating over night!" The stress is driving me crazy!

You did good by talking about what you are thinking.
I always found it hard to talk to the family about my mental health so I’d bottle my thoughts up in my head.Worst time was at night when you try to sleep.
Don’t be a man and bottle everything up I did that talking to somebody really helps. A problem shared is a problem halved.

Been there. Had the usual "you just need to snap out of it" crap from others. There is no easy answer. Find an outlet outside of work is my advice. As men we're stubborn sods and find it hard to talk. Since working alone I find it hard to find anyone to talk to. Especially as I now deal with social housing who do nothing but moan at me which makes my mental state even worse. Ultimately bro I know where you're at. Stay classy.

As a former electrician, mental health was never discussed in my day, and it's been very challenging. I've struggled with depression and anxiety throughout my life, and it's a label I never wanted, but it's a reality of being human. Sometimes, it's incredibly difficult to express these feelings, even to loved ones or someone who's good at listening. Expressing oneself is crucial, yet it's one of the most frustrating things to deal with.
When people claim they understand but haven't experienced the lowest lows, it's disheartening because true understanding comes from having been there. Regardless of the job or the day, taking five minutes to indulge in a hobby or something enjoyable can make a world of difference. For me, photography has been my solace for over 25 years-it's where I turn when life feels overwhelming.
To anyone facing similar struggles, remember that it's okay not to worry about the quality of your output during tough times. We all understand that rough patches happen, and ultimately, it's our humanity that connects us.

After having a couple weeks off at Xmas I really struggled going back to work. No motivation, didn’t want to deal with customers and generally hated doing the job and it really got me down. I tend to find if I book in work with other engineers to give me a hand for a few days and have a bit of banter at work it makes the day better and can get you out of the head space of not wanting to be at work.
Hopefully you’ll feel better soon bud 👍 spend some quality time with your kids that will always make you feel better
