The fact that everyone here is ignoring the fact that he had 3 passengers in the car says a lot. Believe it or not, that's a lot of weight added, and I don't care wtf you drive, that would make a difference in anyone's car.
Oh it made a huge difference. I have another video where I'm on the freeway. Just me and my best friend in 5th gear. It pulled up to the limiter noticeably quicker. With 2 extra passengers I had to shift into 6th gear to keep the car accelerating up to 144 mph. With just me, or one other, 5th gear will pull all the way to the limiter
jayswrx Weight is everything, and how it is distributed throughout the car matters too. It's obvious, my car handles and accelerates @ 100% of it's capability when it's just me in the car. As soon as i have even one passenger riding shotgun, the dynamics of what I'm able to do changes significantly.
I own a 18 WRX- the comments on here are funny. Saying it’s slow and what not. Top speed is not what this car is about but truly it does pretty damn well considering it’s a 4 cylinder 2.0 running 150. If you want top speed for the same cost, go buy a mustang GT. If you want incredible handling practicality, and all season fun, get a WRX. And really, who the hell cares that much about top speed. It isn’t often you reach it anyways.
Fuel Shutoff ( PWM is decreased ) is programmed into the PCM to limit the engines output. As for gear ratios that's all she's got. Get the STI gear box for that car and retrofit into the WRX and you might see a speed increase. After a good tune to keep up with the fuel demand. But in the end 144 is plenty fast for this class of car. Anything faster, strip and build a new powertrain or buy a higher grade car. Good video!
Yeah, I was pretty impressed by that. And yeah, I'm very happy with the engine they put into this years WRX, it does seem very reliable, and gets incredible fuel economy. The other day I had stayed on a road with a speed limit of 50 mph and I kept it at that speed in 6th gear, and managed 35 mpg, which is the highest I've ever gotten. And yeah, I'm sure fuel quality can play a role with any kind of turbocharged vehicle. Where I'm at, 93 octane is available everywhere and its just what I use. I'll have to try a top speed run sometime after winter, my winter tires have a much lower speed rating then the stock summer tires the car comes with.
Yeah bro just yesterday, 6th gear @ 75 mph with cruise control set for over an hour. My average mpg was 34. It's pretty amazing how efficient these cars are when the turbo is just chillin. Haha I tried to see if the car would let me set cruise control at 143 when I filmed this. It didn't work needless to say, lol. 90 mph is as high as you can set it
+Bill Freedman that is exactly why your fuel economy is bad lol. I was getting 32-33 in the summer. Doable.. but requires to keep your foot off the accelerator :P
yeah the extra passengers made a huge difference. I was by myself the other night driving back home on a long stretch of road, and the time it took me to get to 144 was way faster. I was at ~6500 feet above sea level, and it was about 40 degrees, and It was pulling really hard in 5th gear all the way up to the limiter. I was surprised, especially with the elevation being that high.
***** are you driving the CVT or the 6 speed? the CVT model can hit a higher top end speed. It says the CVT is limited at 150 due to drag. the 6 speed is electronically limited at 144. Watch my throttle bar sensor once I hit 143. It basically cuts fuel
wow! I am just suprised, and confused. because my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 tops off at 155 mph. I want to buy the new sex limited. but my Mazda is faster and makes more hp and torque as well? I thought the sex 2.0 was more powerful and faster? I guess it is not.😞
where are driving at 155mph? who cares about top speed? when i dust you to 100, the race is over sir. i'll keep my wrx all day over a mazda, lmao. you are too funny
damn, wrx is slow as fuck. just traded my 07 sti for a 17 wrx. car is a beast but slow past 100mph. cant wait to get full exhaust, intake and tune. stage 2 sti hit 150 easily
Yeah. These are cars that are almost mandatory to modify if you want to compete speedwise with other cars on the market. They're meant to be rallycars that were made to daily. Even the STI has it's pitfalls at the topend. FBO E85 and a tune solves most of that, but warranty.
Jordan Washington load that SS cobalt with not only you, but 3 of your friends, and post a video comparing it to mine. I would be scared shitless dealing with the handling on a cobalt, It probably wobbles like crazy past 115 mph. Not to mention thinking about how well the engine was built compared to the one in the WRX or sti. subarus were built to endure a lot of things other cars simply cannot. The Japanese take pride in their work, and it shows. These cars arent even built for straight line drag racing, but they're faster in the 1/4 mile than the same year American 8 cylinder muscle cars they go up against. I like muscle cars, but realistically the Japanese build far more superior cars.
I would love to take my '15 on a track. Watch my video I posted of me taking my '15 through a canyon. That's the closest thing to a track I've taken it on. I don't think you'll need a wing, and bigger wheels. If you get a chance at a run at a track, try it with just stock components. You'll be impressed with the handling and control you have over your Rex. The car feels like it's on rails when you're driving it fast on tight corners
Your v6 Camry would drift all over the road at these speeds. I don't think you would want to drive at 144 for very long in a Camry. The handling would be terrible
I don't think bro! I have 2016 wrx and I raced with 2015 v6 camry xse from 60 to 140 three times and i was getting ahead everytime He couldn't even keep up with me! The way camry acts looks like its very fast but on a straight line, u can't beat wrx. and no doubt camry is pretty fast. It burn tires like crazy from 0 to 40mph.

Colt45Magnus just with an extra person in my car i can feel the difference lol.
Colt45Magnus should’ve got a focus ☺️

You’d be insane to go 140 on gravel anyway. 😎
did 144 awhile back, super rush! wrx is legit street car
Reached 139 in my 17 WRX, all stock but had a few more mph to go
Nice run to top speed. Looked very stable as well.
Yeah, I was pretty impressed by that. And yeah, I'm very happy with the engine they put into this years WRX, it does seem very reliable, and gets incredible fuel economy. Wooooooooooow that's way slower than I expected.
My stock 15 pulls to about 155 so I’m legitimately confused
144 MPH is pretty damn fast
really!!! Fucking shitty suv's do 140, lol
dafuq???? Name one "Shitty SUV" that does 140.
Jake Carter grand Cherokee, audi Q5, Q6, BMW X5 AND X6, RANGE ROVER, should I name more?
a range rover is a "shitty suv"?
Q5 cant do it. Neither can the Q6. The Rover and the X's are all faster to 60 than the STI and cost 3 times as much. This is a stupid argument.
Damn... Hit 145 In my 2000" gs-R only bolt ons
wow, not bad for a stage 1 basic tune. wonder what a stage2 car could get
Fox Stowe just removing the 3 extra passengers with all that extra weight makes a tremendous difference. Stage 2 would be quite a site on top of that
oh ok
@@roastedtyres Thought cobb map didnt have speed limiter? Your rpm had plenty room to bring you up to 155-160
Mine gets up to 140 a lot quicker than yours... And I've gone up to 145... Weird. Were you going uphill maybe?
***** yes the extra weight and the hills make a huge difference. Ok that makes sense then. I am at ~1,300 feet above sea level
yeah the extra passengers made a huge difference. I was by myself the other night driving back home on a long stretch of road, and the time it took me to get to 144 was way faster. @@DrNoro higher elevation = slower speed due to less dense and thinner oxygen and air.
The OTS tune doesn't get rid of the top speed governor?
+xuimod no
Why would you turn off traction control to top it out with you friends in the car?
I hit twice 141mph in 21 wrx
It is stock 😉
i can hit 145 in my 07 camry
stock as well.
@@ItzzShazey your 2007 Camry is 4 cylinder with the governor removed correct??
Ok, Forza horizon is fake it should reach to 275 km/h, i love wrx

wait, you cant remove the top speed limiter with stage 1?
stinkyfungus nope
has to be done by tuning
Shawn Moses
stage 1 IS tuned.
supposedly the story I heard is the cobb maps reset the limiter to something the car will never be able to attain.
stinkyfungus I had a Cobb stage 1 then 2. Limiter was there until done by a tuner
Shawn Moses
ok,
so when manipulated by a tuner, what is the top speed of a stage 1 tuned 2015-2017 wrx?

If that’s stock with single ots tune, then I should be able to reach 160 no issue, probably will never hit that tho cause im scared lmao
wow thats a sad sight bro for what it is i had a ss cobalt that i toped at 160 stock id be pissed
