No matter how good the primer and paint, you MUST prepare properly which means light sanding with a fine (200 grit) sandpaper, then vacuum and clean/dry really well. Keep in mind, most window manufacturers (Andersen/Jeld-Wen) says the warranties are void if the original finish is painted. But of course, you can't wipe one's behind with their warranties anyway, so . . . it wouldn't stop me. However, I would use caution painting vinyl windows which are exposed to direct sunlight all year round. Also, I would avoid drastic color changes; like from white to black etc;, It's usually best to stick with similar colors.

Warping comes from heat. If you paint a white or light colored vinyl window black, or dark colors, instead of reflecting the light/heat, it will absorb the heat. So if you paint the windows in traditionally cold climate areas, or you have many large shade trees, large roof overhangs, porch, etc....you should be fine. If you are painting on the side of house that gets regular and direct sunlight, you could be in for problems, such as premature window replacements that can be expensive.

You should probably remove this video. Right after I watched it, I called in an order for the exact same color and product at Sherwin Williams. When I picked it up, the label they printed and stuck to the top of the can says “Not recommended for use on vinyl” with “Non Returnable Tinted Color” right below it. I thought I would try it anyways. It flakes off with my fingernail, even 3 days after I painted it. It’s a brand new window sitting in my garage waiting to be installed by our window company. Talk about upsetting... $55 down the drain, not to mention all the time and effort of removing it all now.
its the color you chose that is not safe for vinyl. All the labels say that unless its a vinyl safe formula. Paint takes at least 20 days to fully cure. There is a difference between dried and cured. An adhesion primer wouldn't hurt, Sherwin makes "extreme bond" for problem surfaces. De-glossing also helps.

He said in the video they were already a bronze color. Watch again and listen carefully
You have to let them know it will be used on vinyl and they will adjust formula. He used the correct paint in the video.
I went to Sherwin Williams for this paint and they said it wasn’t for Vynil finish. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m trying to paint the outside of my windows but realized today they are actually painted aluminum. Any chance you could recommend a type of paint?
Super paint vinyl safe paint
The title says for Vinyl windows but in his description he states these are aluminum windows….🤷🏼♀️
I would imagine a lot of people are watching this video to see how to paint their windows black! Lol! In about 2 years the same people will be looking for videos on how to paint their windows back to white! Lol! Just too true and funny!! Lol!
What spray gun are you using ?
It’s not about the spraygun it’s about the boots that he was wearing that day
Nice ! One more project added to your curriculum as a painter
one time a customer requested me to paint the stone vernier to match the color of the house Crazy request but they paid 4
They sometimes have weird ideas
What is the product from Sherwin Williams used here?
He says it about 4 times go watch the video again
Chad Rockman
So instead of writing it down to help me out, you chose to write a snarky comment instead-forcing me to read this and then rewatch the video. Thanks my fellow human being.
Yea I'm sorry i had a bad day...

What tip you use?
Bell Family 310
I use a 210 it's more precise with windows
What’s the battery life on one of those sprayers?
1 gallon of paint to a battery
How do you paint in between the window where it is white as well?
They don't.....
great video...
I need the color number please
Whats the guy eating ? lol
SpaghettiOs
Painting a plastic window that expands and contracts in brutal sunlight probably won’t work well lol
Why not? You can paint vinyl siding and that expands and contracts like a mother f. So.what the issue?
Lets be honest, painting windows black is a great way to save money and its cheaper. Manufacturers charge double to get your windows 🪟 in color black and ive inspected them and theyre painted too😂😂 its just a hig ass scam if you ask me. Dont trust big companies. I paint mines and thats only cus ive never open my windows for anything especially here in this texas weather.
Thanks for sharing
How much you charge per window
Yenier Rodriguez $10
Haahah, 10 dollars, ridiculous
just a little less than what the customer can't afford to pay :-)
must look like an orange peal
I bought some of that paint it sure is some watery stuff.
Yep
Nice video! Kinda lame you have homeboy eating lunch during the video. Put me off a little, could have done off camera. Small stupid complaint, but overall very nice.
OK
