Very nice bike. You did a great job. I've had lot's of different Giant models over many years but have never heard of the option. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I have already reactivated a few of these shifters. It's always this little spring, or paws,, like yours. I flood the shifter with a lot of WD-40 or similar, sometimes also with brake cleaner. I only remove the housing cover if necessary, that's all I dare take apart. I use some Shimano wet chain lube to regrease them when done. Bringing a sticky shifter back to life can be quite satisfying. 😌
Thanks for watching! Dawn power wash, and a run through the ultrasonic cleaner with heat usually takes care of those sticky shifters. This bike seems to have been rode for a short while then put aside for a few decades. Those little springs on the paws needed extra love this time.
Nice bike. The rear tire doesn´t seem to be installed correctly in the valve area. You can see this at 3:03 and 9:23. I am sure you aligned the front right brake pad later (11:02). Cheers, Chris
Thanks for watching! You have a good eye! The tires were not inflated yet. I did that off camera after the bike was put together. No one wants to watch me pump tires with air on the video. I noticed the front break pad during my test ride and and tweaked that before I listed it for sale.
I hate when I discover the shifters are sticky when I buy a used bike. Good job fixing these!!
Thanks for watching!! I hate that too!!

Thanks for the kind words. When I looked this bike up, I think they only made it 2 years, 1996 and 1997. Thanks for watching!!

Those paws are usually the key to get the shifters working I try and focus on them before taking the shifter apart
Thanks for watching! In the Timelapse you can see me trying to move the pawl with my pick. I had no luck with this.

@@TheValueBikeAdvocate like I said, really nice bike. Who would leave material like this starve in a garage? Happy cycling!
