first of all, love you guys!! Both my parents are vets, so we have many pets lol. what our dogs do is we trained them to ring a bell whenever they need to go. but walk topper, as much as you want to have him go poo. Usually when they are bothering you, thats a sign that they need to go outside. our dogs go out right after they eat. whenever you go outside thanks them with you!!! love you guys so much!!!!

For me when I had a puppy I kennel trained at night, now they sleep with us (once they were potty trained) and now we don’t even need to use the kennel when we are at work they’re good when we leave them out for 4-8 hours!!

About how many times a day to let a puppy outside!
I would recommend about every hour for a small puppy like him, in the beginning. Make sure you're also regulating when he is eating so he doesn't have to go to the bathroom so early.
EX: If you feed Topper at 9PM he'll have to go to the bathroom around 7AM-9AM, depending how long he sleeps/holds it. Make sure you take him out right before you go to bed to give him one last chance to relieve himself before bed. I hope this helps!

Here’s some advice from having a golden doodle puppy: When he sleeps for the night and cries/barks to go potty personally that only lasted for about 3 months and you will get used to getting up around 2am and 4am to go potty. Anyways congrats on your new furbaby💖

If you feed him in his cage, he won't want to poo where he has to eat. That's what we did with our puppy and she's completely stopped now it took around a week of doing it so now we put the food next to her cage!
We just recently got a puppy and his potty training went really good because we stuck to 45 minute increments checking on him to see if he needs to go out and we let him out AS SOON as he woke up from a nap. And AS SOON as he was done eating. And that should do it!!

To answer Katie’s question in the video: generally speaking, you should let a dog out every one hour depending on their age in months
2 months old= every 2 hours
3 months old= every 3 hours
4 months old =every 4 hours
Etc.
The same principle applies until around nine or ten months, cause you can’t expect a dog to not go for 10 or 11 hours.
It can be hard when the dog is just a pup, because you may have to wake up in the middle of the night to let out your puppy so it doesn’t ‘make a mess’.
