Kaiba summoning Obelisk in DSOD is one of my favorites, I love that he literally pulls it out of the ground followed by him declaring "it's no monster, it's a god"
My favorite God summoning moment has to be Yugi vs Yami Bakura, the way Slyfer coils around the whole blimp and even breaks the animation of Bakura's field spell in the process
Yes I have that image burned into my mind. After seeing that Slyfer was my favorite god card. Probably my favorite card in general. Slyfer, dark magician of chaos, jinzo, red eyes b. Skull dragon and dark magician girl are my too five of the too of my head. But I haven't played in forever! All the toon cards get an honorable mention just cause I always loved Pegasus's toon deck :)
Agreed, everything about this animation, the score, the dialogue, the visuals are perfect. Also love how the three tributes are Black Magician Girl, Gamma the Magnet Warrior and Big Shield Gardna. Three of his flagship monsters which may not be super powerful on their own but can become greater than the sum of their parts, summoning a God. This could also be seen as a metaphor for the whole “friendship” theme seen throughout Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yugi summoning Slifer gives me chills still to this day. Also, Magician Girl's face when being tributed, she seems to be proud of being sacrified for Slifer's arrival, like she knew it was game over for bakura.
One of my favorite god card summons was when Yugi/Atem summoned Slifer in his duel against Jaden. The way Yugi/Atem worked around the situation he was in when Jaden backed him to a corner. "The one I'm reviving is not a spellcaster. A god! Now show yourself! Osiris the Heaven Dragon!" And the moment when Jaden, terrified in anticipation, alongside Neos, Shining Flare Wingman, and Flare Scarab witnesses firsthand the coming of a god. Such a spectacular moment. Really surprised this wasn't on the list.
Kaiba summoning Obelisk against Yugi at Battle City was the best for me. The way Obelisk emerged from the sky and landed and rose from the ground and Kaiba saying, “MY MIGHTY EGYPTIAN GOD IS HERE AT LAST!!!” That was awesome
Funnily enough, there _were_ enough summons to do a top 25, since you also had the 3 separate Sacred Beast summons that Yubel performed against Adrian (while possessing Jesse) and summoning all 3 at once whilst possessing Marcel; Gurimo summoning Obelisk, Odion summoning "Ra" & Franz summoning "Ra" (not sure if you'd count the last 2 because there were fakes but there's still 5 besides that, before even going into Armityle & Horakthy).
If we include the Pyramid of Light movie, we also have the scene where Yugi summons all 3 god cards from the banish pile with Seto's own Return From The Different Dimension. That one has to be my favorite god card summon hands down.
My top pick would be when kaiba summoned Obelisk the tormentor against Aigami in DSOD it was soo cool and also he didn't have the god cards but still he was able to call his God card from a different dimension, also hinting to Atem's return at the end. Loved Atem's summon of Mahad it was soo cool and his attack to finally finish Aigami.

I will always resent the IRL card game for changing every DIVINE monsters in the anime/manga (Nordic Gods, Evil Gods, Sacred Beasts) into just regular monsters
I don't even get the logic behind changing the evil gods. They are meant to be direct inversions of the egyptian godcards(even tho it is admitedly kinda scuffed lorewise that manga Pegasus was basically able to create new deities from nothing), so them not counting as gods is just inconsistent. At that point, they could have just changed the egyptian gods to light. I guess one could technically argue that it is not exactly them because their japanese namingscheme was legitimately changed from "The devil's *insert*" to "Wicked god *insert*" in the physical cardgame, but that actually makes it worse. Why would we want second rate fakes of godcards from the manga instead of the actual godcards from the manga?
The Aesir make no sense to me. It was bad enough that they were basically pointless in 5ds, but then needlessly changed their type and attribute. Pretty sure legal Obelisk was out around their release. The others have the excuse of being well before they decided to stop making DIVINE anime/manga only, but the Aesir didn’t. It’s not like their types make that much sense to me. Thor is the god of thunder, but they made him a beast-Warrior to symbolize he stands above his sub-archetype. I mean, that makes sense, but at the same time it doesn’t fit Thor himself. Loki could have been a fiend since he is a trickster god, but spellcaster technically works as well. Odin is a fairy…he was a warrior who rode into many battles. Why is he a fairy? The fact they were hardly used in 5ds and didn’t get the DIVINE treatment for the OCG/TCG was bad enough, but their given types don’t make a lot of sense either except Thor, but only for one real reason. I get the others not being made DIVINE, but that’s really it.
This is something I desperately want the series to bring back, variants of God Cards. We had them in GX with the Sacred Beasts and with 5D's Earthbound Immortals, but after that they disappeared. I always felt these added some well needed stakes, like these are the cards that'll really push the protags to their limits.
It would be nice the closest we've got since then is the Barian cards and dimensional dragon but as much as I love those cards they don't feel as grand.
In 5Ds the Nordic Gods were the Egyptian God variants because there were exactly 3 of them and there was a mini hierarchy within them (Odin being the most powerful, the Father); the Earthbound Immortals/Gods were definitely more destructive and probably more powerful (given their immense stature & mass absorption) but they weren't the 5Ds equivalent, as cool as they were.
@@dolphinpower1107 Yeah, the appearances of those I listed just have them this divine presence, like these were monsters with capabilities that exceeded those of other lesser beasts. I was going to add in the number cards from Zexal, but there's way too many of them. I was kind of pushing it with the Immortals since there's about double the mount from the previous 2 sets, but they still felt grand in presence.
@@AshXXMayftw Oh yeah the Earthbound Immortals were epic - these daunting hulking beasts with great designs that genuinely made you wonder how the Signers would best them after we'd seen Yusei eat dirt at the massive hands of Ccapac Apu. It still lowkey ticks me off how in S3 of the dub Leo describes Meklord Emperor Skiel as the biggest monster he's ever seen, as if he completely forgot seeing these absolute behemoths up close a few months earlier. I wonder how they'd have incorporated Egyptian God variants in the later spinoffs though, especially Arc-V which was a complete mess lmao.
I can't really pick a favorite. I love all of these summons. Mythology interests me too. Marik using Ra against bakura, Mai using ra. Seto using Obelisk in the DSOD, Strings summoning Osiris. Atem playing all 3 gods. Kagimeru and Yubel using the sacred beasts. Loved seeing Thor, Oden, and Loki get played in 5Ds. It's kind of crazy that Thor 2011 came out the same year as those cards.
@@itzex8796 Timelord, the archetype of the last antagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's (the third Yu-Gi-Oh series), the light attribute ones have 4000 ATK and the others have 0, most of them attack then effect (blow up field, GY, hand, burn damage, gain LP, etcétera), most of them have some protection because gods.

Since it was filler I suppose it doesn’t count but when Yugi and Atem were manipulated by Dartz and he was able to steal the gods at the start the rise of the dragons arc and that fodder character who successfully summoned Obelisk and eventually lost
I absolutely love all of god cards summoning in YugiOh DM . Kaiba's JP voice actor lines " monsta janai, kami da!" is so iconic. Then the BGMs and effects such as lightning sparks, the ground breaking or the sky open up. I know it just holographic effects from duel disk but it really shows how "heavy" the god cards are. Even Yugi said that he tributed monsters to heaven even though we fully knew they will eventually went into GY. And Takahashi-sensei balanced the god cards by putting special summon restrictions where they just on field once per turn then went slumber in GY .
There was actually enough summonings of gods to fill and even exceed the 25 slots, cause there was also Yubel summoning each of the sacred beasts, Odion summoning the fake Ra, as well as in the Pyramid of Light movie with Yami Yugi summoning all 3 gods at the same time twice in the movie. And also Yugi summoning slifer against Jaden in the final episode of GX
25 AWESOME Boss Monster Summons. consisting of everyone's Final Ace. for example: Shooting Quasar Dragon for Yusei, Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare for Yubel, Z-ARC for Z-ARC, Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia for Don Thousand, Gilford the Lightning for Joey, Red Nova Dragon for Jack, and I think there is so much more
- it will be fun if the clip for Atem summoning Ra against Yugi should also include the summon chant to fully control that card. That same goes w/ Marik’s chant. - I prefer the summon during the very first debut of Polar God King Thor against Jack’s RDA during their very first meeting not the ones summoned during the WRGP. - why Horakthy the Creator of Light didn’t make the cut in this segment? That one is basically THE Egyptian God card among the Egyptian God cards. - Divine Serpent Ge should also appear in this segment since Phantasm Lord cards are still basically fiend-type ripoff of the EGC even in anime. - its a bummer the summon of Slifer by Yugi vs Judai didn’t make the cut in this segment. - IDK about this but No. 1000 Numeronius, Numeronia, No. 100 Numeron Dragon should also appear in this segment... Just sayin’
Kaiba summoning Obelisk The Tormentor in DSOD was jaw dropping in the Theater. Holy Shit! That goes to show how much Pull he has being the Descendant/Reincarnation of Pharaoh Seto. Rest in Power Kazuki Takahashi.
My favorite defenitely has to be when Yugi summons Osiris vs Bakura, it's such an awesome summon and is super hype to finaly see Yugi use his god card.
The thing is.. Atem mercilessly summons the three gods in just a short time against Yugi will always give me a shiver.. so I prefer the three is counted as one
Honestly expected to see zushin here considering team taiyo said it had power rivaling the Egyptian gods. Also would’ve liked to see Osiris get summoned against Judai or the yubel sacred beast summons throughout s3
Cool list, had some of my personal favorites. Surprised Atem summoning the Three Egyptian Gods during the Pyramid of Light movie didn't make the list 😅
To me, the coolest animation of a summon (even tho this wasnt a summon per se) was when the Leviathan's eye was above the City an Yugi raises the Timaeus card to stop it.
I gotta say. When i watched YGO darkside of dimensions, i wasn't expecting any god cards, not to mention kaiba drawing it from the ground lol. But still, the animation was sick and when he attacked, the punch was devastating. That movie had a lot of good animations
The dsod obelisk summon always gives me chills. The fact he can use any card with his tech, even a god scares me. Dsod universe is scary. And no we will not debate that it isn’t tech or that dsod isn’t a sequel to the manga.
My favorite Obelisk summon is the one from season 4 of the original series (the first episode), the guy who stole the god cards and used one against Yugi with the help of the Orichalcos seal made it clear that a serious threat has shown itself.
I have a video suggestion, I think you have now made videos of the best of all main summoning techniques and I think that you could now make a video in which are your favorite summons overall (so it can include any summoning technique), what do you say? :D
My two most favorite summoning off a god card for me is number 1: when Atem summoned Winged Dragon of ra in Egypt vs Bakura, ra’s intro was such a bad ass moment. Number 2: when Halldor summoned Oden father of the aesir in the dubbed version.
1rst: kaiba's obelisk in DSOD 2nd: yugi's slifer vs yami bakura 3rd: kaiba's obelisk vs rare hunters ......that was OOF! otking them over there was awesome!
I really wish they incorperated the divine hierarchy into the game somehow. Like all monsters by default have a hierarchy of zero, then cards like slifer and obelisk or the sacred beasts have a one while ra, armityle or odin and have a two. hell, bring in more trios of god cards why not
Let's be real, DSOD Obilisk is the Most Badass summon ever, because it's Peak "Screw the Rules I have (Insert thing Kaiba owns)" joke Ever, but not only that, the raw emotion of Kaiba in the scene. He knows he's close to his goal and Wants to achieve it, plus the Dub line of "It's not a Monster, It's a God" just adds oomph to the scene, though the Jpn version does give a better protrayl of Kaiba's mindset. Not sure if you done a video on it or not, but 25 Cool summoning Chants would be a Good clip Video considering you have Sooo many different ones to include ranging Ra's English cantation, all the way to Jack's chant for Red Nova Dragon, heck even to Odd Eyes Raging Dragon, the choices you have
I never got to see any other god summons before outside the original Duel Monsters. Pretty cool I'd say, but nothing tops any of the Egyptian God Card Summons. some of the most Badass summons I've ever seen in an Anime. Great Video though.
Here's an interesting video idea, 5 (or 10) awesome combos that use multiple/all of the summoning mechanics during one turn sequence (I guess in retrospect I should have called it 5 awesome turns).
The best are Atem summoning Obelisk, Osiris and Ra in ceremonial duel. 2nd would be Atem summoning Osiris vs Bakura 3rd Kaiba "revives" Obelisk vs Aigami
what about a LVL & RANK 12 monster summoning? or "ULTIMATE" Monsters, "FINAL" monsters of their deck their ACES summoning? example ultimate falcon is rank 10, final fortress rank 12, assault blackwing- onimaru the divine thunder is lvl 12, blue-eyes ultimate dragon is 12, etc
You left out Thousand Eyes Sacrifice summon from DM episode 39. It is a god, specifically Jashin (Evil God). Pegasus says "Jashin" during the summon. It is the 1st Evil God in the series before 3 Evil Gods in Yugioh R appear (It was foreshadow due to Takahashi wanting to do an arc based on the aftermath of Duelist Kingdom but it was scrapped since his editor wanted him to end the manga).
You missed out on Yugi summoning Silfer against Judai. Also it is more if you do use the Pyramid of Light. As you used a movie clip in this video for Kaiba which is strange to include it. I guess we don't count the Earthbound monsters in this.
Yubel's summons must have been lamer than I remember, if summoning three Phantasms at once or merging them into Armityle didn't make the cut. Also: much as I like Osiris's first two summons or Ra being summoned by another protag, wish you'd included Yami Yugi manifesting all three at once against Dartz, or their own convergence into the only Creator-God-Type.
Yami Marik basically said to mai when she summoned The Winged Dragon of Ra-Sphere Mode: “You can’t handle Ra, you can’t speak the ancient text on Ra, cause you ain’t a grave keeper nor a reincarnation of ancient Egyptian royalty, YOU’RE JUST A SIDE CHARACTER!!”
I think when Kaiba summons Obelisk the tormentor against the duel computer by tributing 3 monsters then tributes 2 more to give obelisk infinite attack/defence points and destroys the blue eyes ultimate dragon that the duel computer had summoned with ease. Kaiba’s destroys he’s own boss monster and it was a very cool summon of obelisk that’s has to be my favourite god summon and a great part of the anime.

@@MasterArchfiend For Odin it's because fairy is actually the angel type but was changed when localized much like how fiend was demon.

Since it was filler I suppose it doesn’t count but when Yugi and Atem were manipulated by Dartz and he was able to steal the gods at the start the rise of the dragons arc and that fodder character who successfully summoned Obelisk and eventually lost
I absolutely love all of god cards summoning in YugiOh DM . Kaiba's JP voice actor lines " monsta janai, kami da!" is so iconic. Then the BGMs and effects such as lightning sparks, the ground breaking or the sky open up. I know it just holographic effects from duel disk but it really shows how "heavy" the god cards are. Even Yugi said that he tributed monsters to heaven even though we fully knew they will eventually went into GY. And Takahashi-sensei balanced the god cards by putting special summon restrictions where they just on field once per turn then went slumber in GY .
There was actually enough summonings of gods to fill and even exceed the 25 slots, cause there was also Yubel summoning each of the sacred beasts, Odion summoning the fake Ra, as well as in the Pyramid of Light movie with Yami Yugi summoning all 3 gods at the same time twice in the movie. And also Yugi summoning slifer against Jaden in the final episode of GX
25 AWESOME Boss Monster Summons. consisting of everyone's Final Ace. for example: Shooting Quasar Dragon for Yusei, Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare for Yubel, Z-ARC for Z-ARC, Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia for Don Thousand, Gilford the Lightning for Joey, Red Nova Dragon for Jack, and I think there is so much more
- it will be fun if the clip for Atem summoning Ra against Yugi should also include the summon chant to fully control that card. That same goes w/ Marik’s chant.
- I prefer the summon during the very first debut of Polar God King Thor against Jack’s RDA during their very first meeting not the ones summoned during the WRGP.
- why Horakthy the Creator of Light didn’t make the cut in this segment? That one is basically THE Egyptian God card among the Egyptian God cards.
- Divine Serpent Ge should also appear in this segment since Phantasm Lord cards are still basically fiend-type ripoff of the EGC even in anime.
- its a bummer the summon of Slifer by Yugi vs Judai didn’t make the cut in this segment.
- IDK about this but No. 1000 Numeronius, Numeronia, No. 100 Numeron Dragon should also appear in this segment... Just sayin’
My favorite summoning is from DSOD cuz it makes u think the gods are gone along with Atem but Kaiba is then able to summon obelisk

As much as I prefer Sub vs Dub, I always get more chills when Kaiba summons Obelisk in DSoD.
To me, the coolest animation of a summon (even tho this wasnt a summon per se) was when the Leviathan's eye was above the City an Yugi raises the Timaeus card to stop it.
all of Obelisks summoning are my favorite. He got to summon him like 7 or so times. But each time was something to watch.

I gotta say. When i watched YGO darkside of dimensions, i wasn't expecting any god cards, not to mention kaiba drawing it from the ground lol. But still, the animation was sick and when he attacked, the punch was devastating. That movie had a lot of good animations
The dsod obelisk summon always gives me chills. The fact he can use any card with his tech, even a god scares me. Dsod universe is scary. And no we will not debate that it isn’t tech or that dsod isn’t a sequel to the manga.
I mean....it's not tech....otherwise kaiba would be cheating but I guess it being magic is cheating too
My favorite Obelisk summon is the one from season 4 of the original series (the first episode), the guy who stole the god cards and used one against Yugi with the help of the Orichalcos seal made it clear that a serious threat has shown itself.
I think the best slifer (my fav) summoning was his first appearance when strings was dueling yugi. The was pretty epic

My two most favorite summoning off a god card for me is number 1: when Atem summoned Winged Dragon of ra in Egypt vs Bakura, ra’s intro was such a bad ass moment. Number 2: when Halldor summoned Oden father of the aesir in the dubbed version.
I know you worked hard on this, but I think you should do this exact same thing but with the dub instead. It deserves this kind of attention too!

I really wish they incorperated the divine hierarchy into the game somehow. Like all monsters by default have a hierarchy of zero, then cards like slifer and obelisk or the sacred beasts have a one while ra, armityle or odin and have a two. hell, bring in more trios of god cards why not
And then program a value of 3 onto Holactie in videogames for the memes.
Let's be real, DSOD Obilisk is the Most Badass summon ever, because it's Peak "Screw the Rules I have (Insert thing Kaiba owns)" joke Ever, but not only that, the raw emotion of Kaiba in the scene. He knows he's close to his goal and Wants to achieve it, plus the Dub line of "It's not a Monster, It's a God" just adds oomph to the scene, though the Jpn version does give a better protrayl of Kaiba's mindset.
Not sure if you done a video on it or not, but 25 Cool summoning Chants would be a Good clip Video considering you have Sooo many different ones to include ranging Ra's English cantation, all the way to Jack's chant for Red Nova Dragon, heck even to Odd Eyes Raging Dragon, the choices you have

I never got to see any other god summons before outside the original Duel Monsters. Pretty cool I'd say, but nothing tops any of the Egyptian God Card Summons. some of the most Badass summons I've ever seen in an Anime. Great Video though.

Here's an interesting video idea, 5 (or 10) awesome combos that use multiple/all of the summoning mechanics during one turn sequence (I guess in retrospect I should have called it 5 awesome turns).

what about a LVL & RANK 12 monster summoning? or "ULTIMATE" Monsters, "FINAL" monsters of their deck their ACES summoning? example ultimate falcon is rank 10, final fortress rank 12, assault blackwing- onimaru the divine thunder is lvl 12, blue-eyes ultimate dragon is 12, etc

It will be a great idea if you have a 25- (maybe more lol) videos on "Number" summons - since they are kind of unique in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL too.
Another Idea would be 20 hidden summons like Dyson Sphere and Deep see fisherman when one duelist couldn't see the summoned card at first.

You left out Thousand Eyes Sacrifice summon from DM episode 39. It is a god, specifically Jashin (Evil God). Pegasus says "Jashin" during the summon. It is the 1st Evil God in the series before 3 Evil Gods in Yugioh R appear (It was foreshadow due to Takahashi wanting to do an arc based on the aftermath of Duelist Kingdom but it was scrapped since his editor wanted him to end the manga).
You missed out on Yugi summoning Silfer against Judai. Also it is more if you do use the Pyramid of Light. As you used a movie clip in this video for Kaiba which is strange to include it. I guess we don't count the Earthbound monsters in this.
I think Kaiba summoning Obelisk in DSOD and Yugi summoning Slifer against Bakura are the two best by far
Yubel's summons must have been lamer than I remember, if summoning three Phantasms at once or merging them into Armityle didn't make the cut.
Also: much as I like Osiris's first two summons or Ra being summoned by another protag, wish you'd included Yami Yugi manifesting all three at once against Dartz, or their own convergence into the only Creator-God-Type.
In 5 Ds there are also the Earthbound Immortals, which count as Godlike Monsters
My favourite god summoning was when judai summons god neos in episode 187 in yu gi oh gx against darkness (night shroud)

I think when Kaiba summons Obelisk the tormentor against the duel computer by tributing 3 monsters then tributes 2 more to give obelisk infinite attack/defence points and destroys the blue eyes ultimate dragon that the duel computer had summoned with ease.
Kaiba’s destroys he’s own boss monster and it was a very cool summon of obelisk that’s has to be my favourite god summon and a great part of the anime.
