Honestly how I expect my rear drums to look 😅 paid a mechanic couple years ago to swap em out and I think I got the old "say it's done but don't even pop the bolts" treatment because they do not work well at all already. And they barely get used mind you (like only the last 20% of brake pedal depression activates em) but lately the e brake doesn't work on hills.
I had some trouble finding a brake booster for my '82 Scirocco. Eventually bought one off eBay, not ideal, but if it works, who cares? What part # came off the Kubvan? I should soon have a spare if you want to try rebuilding one or both.
First of all love the videos on this thing. Second is there a reason that you're not upgrading the rear drums to a mk3 vw disc and caliper brake? If I'm not mistaken it should be a direct swap. Also if your going to be hauling anything better stopping power.
I have a ahu swapped 85 dl-120 kubvan you will like the swap mines MTDI with bosch ve rover pump I'm in alexandria ky. My buddy has one in bethel ohio thats almost done bew swapped too his isnt low floor like yours and mine tho.
I appreciate this but unfortunately I sold the F-250 last year - I wasn’t driving it and it was taking up a whole lot of room in the garage. Plus it had a bunch of little oddball issues that kept cropping up so I decided to move it along.
absolutely needed this, nearly 4am right now in the UK and just discovered your channel - so invested in this truck already.
Thank you for sharing!!
I don't know a thing about cars but this is a really fun journey to follow ^^
what a great project and how epic do you look in your worn jeans. hope they last a long time still. Great combination.
Would make a cool mini camper.
Glad something will be tdi powered! Either way I'm hooked keep the content coming my man
very excited for this! my dream is a pickup with an ALH.
Great build and video, good stuff.👍
sounds like a kludge job prototype van
Someone has been listening to Clinton too much with how u threw out that brake shoe 🤣
It's nice to see odd cars being re-done or rebuilt with other stuff.
This is a pretty cool project and a lot more involved that I initially thought it would be.
Loving the videos man!

awsome video as always , ford escort/ aspires run 4x100 wheels as well.
for the back axles were those out of a Rabbit or something else, you mentioned they used Ford Rims geesh
"why are you engine swapping it?" Because it's yours and you can lol.
Like to see this as a patina resto mod
love it love it obsess
if your booster is bad you can try to contact Dorman. You would mail them your booster to be rebuilt.

So that spring compressor for the struts did that not have enough clearance to fit in there is why it didnt work

Parts Place may have VW boosters but they might be pricey
