He turned down Dana for his lack of respect for fighters. Truly a legend with values beyond what most people have.
No? His management turned them down because of co-promoting.
@@SwayNoir You weren't there
Well part of it but mostly i belivie he wanted contract like boxers. He wanted a big piece of ppv money and his promotion would also be a co promonter when fedor fights.
Even Conor today wont get a deal like that, so it was more of a buisness move by Fedor.
Fedor is smart and knew he was pass his prime and wanted to get as much money possible. Fedors record in Pride is enough for his legacy.
His top 5 of all time!
@@GANRIK neither was the original commentor so get off his nuts
I do like Fedor but he got ragdolled by other promoters anyway^^
Quote from Fedor at 11:34 - "Dana White should first learn to respect people who he is planning to work with". Those words still ring true to this day.
Correct. 15 years later he did the same shit with Francis Ngannou
It depends on who's account you'd take, if you ask bisping he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but if you ask Ngannou he's a horrible guy who doesn't even give a damn about his biggest stars let alone his protegees. I think its somewhere in the middle and he's for sure a shrude business mogul but he does care about his fighters if you hear the stories Bisping has about him. I think its more of a "good to me = good to you" type of situation.
Ask Mark Hunt what he thinks
@@danny7694 Bisping isn't biting the hand that fed him AFTER he retired. Bisping was still involved in the UFC after retiring, so there's that.
6:50 is a mistake she said Chechnya, the sight of the most horrific war crimes in the second half of the 20th century. Around 1 in 3 of the male population died in the two Chechen wars. A genocide is when 2 in 10 had died of the population.
Fedor is truly a hero of MMA.
Think about how few fighters put their foot down and stood up for their rights back then, Fedor had some balls of steel.
The amount of fighters that were standing there to show their respect says enough.
PS: Legend Fighters.
And caliber
💯💯💯💯
Came here to say this.
They all knew who the Daddy was.
That shit was beautiful.
When Fedor was active, he went 32-0 fighting the best the world had to offer. He never turned down a fight and everyone who fought him got paid extremely well for that time period. He was the best the sport has ever seen.
The best the world had to offer hahaha big Nog and Cro-Cop? That’s funny right there!
@@shawnglass108 Nog was simply the best fighter in the world when Fedor beat him, dummy. And Mirko was on his prime and ranked #2 just behind Fedor, you Dana “Slap” White zombie.
PRIDE had the best fighters in the world but even the ones in the UFC Fedor beat, Arlovski, Sylvia and Mir. And also wanted to fight Couture and Barnett but couldn’t.
@@chrislowden1690 the first Pride events had fixed fights. Later the fixing was removed. There is an interview with a fighter somewhere on RUclips about the first 4 or 5 Pride events having scripted outcomes. This was however before Fedor competed in Pride for the first time and was no longer a thing when he fought.
@@kieranllewellynfishing wrong. My buddy fought in pride both in japan and here. All fixed.
@@shawnglass108 At the time Big Nog was undefeated until he met Fedor and Cro Cop was a world kick boxing champion and an anti-terrorist cop. He fought the best the fighting game had to offer at the time and ran a mock. Admittedly he did have a few squash matches in pride. But he was definitely the best to do it in his era. No one even comes close.
People who didn't watch the sport in the 2000s will never understand. Fedor's aura was godlike.
The last emperor 🙏
as someone who didnt watch him in the 2000s
i *AGREE.*
Probably the only fight I actually remember from the 2000s is Fedor vs Cro-Cop. Back then, Pride was head and shoulders above UFC. That was the peak of MMA IMO. You had great talents competing, but it was before everyone fought with essentially the same style. Made it a hell of a lot more interesting
I didn't...I like some of the freshman UFC fighters... surprise surprise...
UFC is a challenge and always has been!
The times we had K1 Pride!! Good old time!!
Fedor's farewell was crazy. Despite the underwhelming fight, who else could reunite so many legends in one place to celebrate his retirement?
That is what I am saying
Dana is always bitter about fighters who didn’t agree to do what he wanted to do. He puts off fedors achievements and when asked about the greatest mma fighters of all time, he says Ronda rousey. Out of all the people such as Mighty Mouse/Fedor he chose Ronda😂
@@tanish458 it's funny cuz I have a magazine that quotes GSP, Ronda, mike tyson and jon Jones's and they all responded fedor is the goat

Dana’s treatment of Fedor always stood out to me as a kid, as the first thing that showed what kind of man Dana truly is. I’ve always been a casual fan, but even at 12 years old, I could tell that Fedor was a great man, and Dana-though he had achieved impressive business feats-was not. It’s not just the public persona, but the look in their eyes. One is a quiet, kind heart. The other hides a hungry snake.
Dana? Man? You had me there for a second.
Except it was fedors management that fucked this up

TRUE.....Good Word !
When Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Rampage Jackson, Chanel Sonnen, Frank Shamrock, Royce Gracie, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson, Matt Hughes, and Mark Coleman all show up for your retirement, that is *RESPECT*
Fedor never needed the UFC. Watching this guy fight anywhere was always a spectacle. He is, what every person on this world should aspire to be: A man of his principles and morals. True to himself and what he does. Hardworking, non-boasting and humble. Win or Lose. Fedor will always be one of the best. Спасибо Федор.
the reason why Fedor didn't want to go to UFC because he was a fraud more happy happy to pad his win record being juiced to the gills fighting in worked shoot fights in Japan fixed by the Yakuza.
That was literally what Pride was all about. He was the perfect Champion for that organization
Just sucks he had Jerry Millen managing him.
Fixed fights, corruption, and lack of real competitors. As soon as he met Werdum he got squashed! Already forgotten.

I didn't know his brother betrayed him like that. What a stab in the heart, an absolute disgrace. Also, Dana White needs to understand that not all people can be bought and then treated like garbage. Ironically this is how Tyson lost to buster, the bout was in Japan and the Yazuka sent tons of coke and women to Tyson s hotel match before the bout and he was weak af for the fight.
Probably the only guy to actually transcend the UFC. Can't really think of anyone who didn't need it.
Thank you, Fedor!
UFC is not the pinnacle of MMA. In fact it’s the opposite. UFC is fairy tale selling sloppy street fights. Fedor's real victory, one that Dana can't even conceive of, is prevailing against all that and managing to be an example of good amidst all that evil. Amazing work on this Patrick, thank you.

Fedor is a true humble legend! Never talked shit about someone ,just pure respect and sportsmanship.Feared no one.
The incredible respect he get's from other fighter's is all that needs to be said about the man top notch.
He will always be the best in my eyes. Not just as a fighter but a person. The fact that he turned down the money for being disrespected is awesome. Morals and values at it's finest.
Yeah bro he has true character. He’s a working class man with values. Respect Fedor ❤
He was a war criminal. In 6:50 she says Chechnya. Sight of the most horrific war crimes in the second half of the 20th century. 1 in 3 of the male population perished. Not to mention the sexual assaults.
@@rhetoric5173hello, I know a bit of Russian and I’ll explain you. The mother, in the original interview says: “when Fedor went to the army I was scared, because at the time there was the Chechen war”. Actually he never fought in war. He was in the army 2 years. The first one he was a military firefighter, during the second one he was attached to a tank division.
Anyways, I agree with you… the Chechen war was a mess, a lot of people suffered and the Russian army inflicted many unnecessary losses to the Chechen civilian population.
@@brunomaciotta8826 That was deadly for too many people but do not forget the reason for that war was the Muslim population was trying to break Chechnya into it's own Islamic country and perpetrating terrorism on Russian Christians. @@MrMotor11the first Chechen war was extremely messy, and it was Yeltsyn corrupt government fault, not Putin's. Never fought in the UFC but still the greatest. Didn't know about many of these things about Fedor; makes him even more an exceptional guy and fighter. Great video.
Finally something about fedor. It seems like today's mma fans really don't know anything about fedor.specially those fans who only watch ufc and don't know anything outside of ufc. Fedor will always be the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Thank you brother for your amazing documentary. I knew you will make a video about Fedor. Fedor is a man of honour and respect. He didn't fall into the traps of greedy dana White who treats his fighters like modern day slave. Dana White is the modern day don king. He makes good fights but behind the scenes he literally don't care about his fighters and Fedor already knew about it.
Yeah this one was a challenge. Most of the video stuff on him is in Russian so that's a lot of footage to translate - that's a big barrier to tell his story. He's also a man of a very few words haha

Fedor was such a delight to watch. No one has to be told this man is one of the best fighters ever.
This is an incredible video, thank you Patrick. Fedor is highly underrated by a lot of post-Conor MMA fans. The things this man did to the best heavyweights in the world at the time is absurd. The end of his career was unfortunate, he fought too long, but he is undeniably the best heavyweight of all time. His hand speed still doesn't make sense to me.

Something I noticed no one is talking about is Patrick Gavia pulling such a beautiful quote from Alexander in his later life. Paraphrasing this but him mentioning that all children are born heroes and that their behavior later in life as adults dictates whether or not they remain that way was some seriously powerful ideas when reflecting Fedor’s life. Absolutely incredible video editing and journalism here, Patrick. And to do it so beautifully in such a short, RUclips audience worthy film. Just hats off, full standing ovation. Cheers
Fedor will always be an MMA icon in my eyes regardless of him not fighting in the UFC he
will always be a fighter who opened the door to many russian fighters the integrity, the value, the spirit, and combatant of imitation of someone like him. Without him many Russian fighters wouldn't be in MMA although it was always popular in a country like that but, many fighter wouldn't have had that same value of success if there wasn't somebody like Fedor. Your documentarys are something truly special and should always get credit I've also never clicked so, fast in my life when you posted this it truly shows your content is one of a kind.
Dana doesn’t like Russian fighters because they aren’t WWE-like promoters like Conor. They just come in, get the job done, and leave, without saying anything.
@@TheRealAbraxas in some ways yeah but it really depends on the fighter although, what you say is very true but, in a personal stand point it really just depends on the fighters and not a nationality but, i know what you mean Russian fighters matches are usually a one sided but, it all depends on the fighter.

Character over money. What he achieved, which meant greater to him than being a GOAT, was being a good human being, a man of character, and a role model to many. He's inspired a generation, and all of that is his true legacy. Fedor is a selfless man who did not desire money or fame. He fought simply for the love of MMA and to support his family.

This was a really great video. And I love how Dana White talks about money over and over, while Fedor talks about respect, and how some things are more important than money. That was the ultimate criticism against Dana. Take away the money, and he has nothing to offer, and Fedor had achieved so much that he saw nothing of value in Dana's proposals.
This really made me shed a tear. I was born in 1997 and fedor was pointed out to me as the greatest when I was a small child. My Uncle always talked about him. So while I was growing up and going through my personal battles in life I always looked Up to him.

Patrick, that is, by far, the best documentary I saw about Fedor. Thank you.
No small effort has went into burying The Last Emperor. It's storytellers who keep people like Fedor alive in history. Great work, thank you. Whether you believe he is the HW GOAT or not, the man inspired and moved a lot of people, not to mention carried himself well as an example. There's a reason many fighters adore Fedor and that's not just the Old Guard. Excellent storytelling; subscribed.
There's simply no way to put Miocic above him. Put prime Fedor in the UFC and his reign would've been far more dominant. I can understand people who won't put Jones below Fedor as the MMA GOAT, but the HW GOAT is still Fedor.

This video was incredible, thank you for making it. I was at his retirement fight two weeks ago. Although it was hard to see a legend go out on a tough loss, it was great to see so many legends see him off well. The crowd gave him the respect he deserved as well.
Fedor is right about legacies. He will always be remembered as the best of the best (despite what childish Dana says), a father, a religious man, a patriot for his nation, and a humble champion. Men like him come around once a life time. We should all be grateful for what Fedor has done for this sport.
Great words mate. 🙏🏼
That was a really good video, thank you. It's inspiring when a person is in a position where fame and fortune are offered on a gold platter and they turn away from the allure, because of the gleam in the eyes of the person holding it. It's easy to picture Dana looking baffled and slack-jawed at the notion that someone wouldn't want to touch his grimey cash. I respect a person who treats their business as more than a bottom line; to them, partnerships and mutual respect must accompany the other. I've seen many of his fights, but knew very little about his life. That footage of him being embraced by Hendo and Rampage and all the others at the his retirement made my chest swell with emotion. Holy shit.
I have so much respect for that man and how he carried himself. He was the best that this sport has ever seen and on many levels.
Wow! Fedor's character outshines his amazing fighting career..what a warrior!
Fedor was the first super well rounded MMA fighter, not just heavyweight, but across all weight classes.... His reign was something else ...
Fedor was just legendary. Growing up watching him destroy all the champions way before UFC , Fedor will always be the baddest MMA fighter in my book. If he had joined UFC at his prime, he would have eaten everyone for lunch.
The GOAT. A man in a League of his own. Long live the last emperor!
It's a cultural issue. Dana is a classic western business man. Fedor is a classic eastern man of honor. One values money and does not understand anything beyond. The other sees greater calling in life beyond personal wealth and pleasure.
Fedor was a hero to me when I was growing up. He represented everything a an athlete, champion, and a man should be. He was an example not only for his skills but for his character. This brought me to tears at the end. This is the most beautiful documentary I've ever seen on him.

The calm way he carried himself was the scariest quality. He was skilled in all aspects of MMA. He was my favorite fighter. He showed genuine respect for the sport and the opponent. I’m not sure if he was more classy or skilled. Either way it was a high moment for the sport when he reigned atop the competition.

As someone who has watched Fedor's fights as a kid and now in my adulthood I truly believe he is one of the least celebrated fighters of all time. The last few minutes of this documentary is absolutely brilliant, great job as always Patrick. 👏
That's bc outside of fixed Pride fights, he wasn't good. Facts
@A Malevolent It's no secret. Been exposed by fighters who fought there for years. Many documentaries about it, even on RUclips
Why do you think these so called "Legends" got Merc'd when they came to UFC? Silva, Jackson did OK but not too good, Bigfoot, Shogun, even Fedor did mediocre in organizations outside of the UFC. They got exposed
@@andrewsolis2988 Fedors Resume is probably the greatest ever,Prime Fedor was unbeatable
@A Malevolent Proof is once he left Pride he sucked. Case closed
@Life is Blessed How did he do outside of Pride again??? Anyone in the top 5 of the UFC HW would've moped the floor with him
EDIT: This is an AMAZING VIDEO!
Lovers of the Fight game know Fedor to be absolute zenith of what a human is capable of in combat sports. UFC would not have changed the trajectory of this man by even a millimeter. He is the destroyer of worlds. No one had an answer for this guy. He spent a whole night in the guard of Mirko Cro Cop, literally beating the shit out of the scariest guy on the planet. Emelianenko was just DIFFERENT! We may never see another fighter like him.
My favourite fighter and bro - what a documentary! Been binging your videos for the first time today and they are wonderfully written and edited. Bravo!
Your documentaries are one of the best things on RUclips, keep it up man!
Thanks Professor!
@@PatrickGavia Sir plz make a video of Alex periara's Journey
I never knew he stood against Ramzan Kadyrov. Mad props to the man
The combination of speed, power and stamina at that sort of weight was absolutely astounding. The explosiveness of those fights was similar to elite lightweight fighters but with much bigger guys. His demeanour and the obvious humility added to the aura he carried. The difference between those days and UFC is nobody could demand of them to clown up for hype and views. UFC was the show and organizations like Pride were the true test of character.
This was an amazing edit. That last bit of all the interviews, the words about heroes, a birth of a man and the life he leads later. Goddamn, these are all just snippets of interviews. What comprehensive narrative you were able to build from editing those. Great video man. Great story.
We highlight Fedor as a God, as a Legend, as an Emperor…
But to Fedor himself, he is simply a man, a man of good will, a man of integrity, and a man of honor.
Conceive believe achieve. Stfu up 😂
Whoever edits your videos is incredibly talented.
This was a treat to watch. So much mystery surrounding this humble fighter, and seemingly good-natured family man. There was footage & pics that I hadn’t seen before, especially from his younger years, and when he was in the military. Hadn’t seen any of your content before watching this, so I liked & subbed. Gonna check out a few more of your videos. Thanks!
The raw emotion I felt through out the whole video. So damn well done!! Especially the part about Kadyrov and Fedor’s daughter. I didn’t know that ever happened and yet you see some of these UFC fighters sucking him off.
Seriously! I hadn't heard about that either, and then the cherry on top of the shit sundae is his own brother went and fought for Kadyrov's MMA organization. Majorly F'd up!
I remember reading that in a Bloodyelbow article from Karim Zidan. From what I remember, Fedor criticized Kadyrov at the time for organizing an MMA fight with his kids. Of course, Kadyrov and Khabib, who at the time was Kadyrov's BFF, didn't take that criticism well. And Kadyrov did the things he always does, I.e. lethal retaliation. There was Also recently a story about a Chechen fighter who had one fight in the UFC, and he ended up dead after he distanced himself from Kadyrov.
@@TheElbowMerchant That fucking pissed me off man as if what happened to his daughter wasn’t enough. His own bro snaked on him. 🤦🏻♂️ Truly a new disgust I have towards fighters bending over for Kadyrov.
@@megamanxhunter Damn!! I gotta look that one up too. Never heard of that either!
@@megamanxhunter khabib? U mean Khamzat bcuz Khabib is from Dagestan not Chechenya
dude you got me emotional at the end. best fighting doc i’ve seen on the platform. holy shit! 🥲❤️
The absolute best mma documentarian in the world. Production value is through the roof.
Thank you Patrick 🙏
Fedor is a legend and I remember that moment where all the legends and heavyweight UFC champions gave him the respect he deserved and I believe Fedor 100% when he says that Dana is a man whi does not respect his fighters and that’s why he didn’t take his money and for that you can only respect Fedor even more, forever legend!
Not a guy to mess with and seems to stay humble among people. This guys is legend.
It’s a whole generation of people that don’t know how awesome this guy was!!! In his Prime he was the GOAT!
Fedor is smart. He fought where he wanted, put on some stunning shows, became an icon in his country and in my humble opinion walks away as one of the greatest in the sport. Just check out his highlight reels and net worth!
The goat 🐐
When he says "I want my legacy to be people remembering me as a normal man" emphasis on "normal"..poor guy belonged to such backgrounds that it always haunted him no matter he went that he will looked or frown upon..what he means is he wants his legacy to be "him getting respected for being a law abiding and normal citizen". You earned all the respect in the world Fedor..
A Man A Legend A Hero. Thank you Mr Fedor Emilienenko for allowing us to enjoy ure journey and ure dream. I guess dreams do come true when you work and at it. Thank you sir!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Fedor never set out to be anything other than a man in this world who knew his way. Yet simply by trodding a humble path of incredible work ethic and giving his all, he has eclipsed anything that Dana White will achieve, even as the architect of an organisation like the UFC.
Also Patrick, holy shit these videos are insane and never fail to deliver. Legit always a must watch when your vids drop.
After this video, I can say Fedor is the most respectable player
When Big Nog was in his prime, Fedor threw him around like a doll, and bashed his skull in. Dana can say whatever he wants, but Fedor is the HW Goat.
Fedor was one of the best that ever fought, if not the best of all times! watched him as a kid and till now i can still see how amazing this man is.
