At the elementary level, school admins will often brush it off as the bully doesn't know how to communicate. As a parent, it's a stressful fight but when the district does properly address bullying it can be life-changing for the victim and the bully alike.

Just like she said...the bully gets punished and comes back mad that they got in trouble blaming the victim. Same thing happened to me. He got himself in trouble by harassing me. Blamed me. Booed me at graduation, nobody did anything. They all could hear it. There has never been and never will be any accountability. and the fact that the teacher isn't allowed to do anything? How about " I will not tolerate this in my classroom. If it keeps up you will have to go to the office" Like seriously?

You've got 4 options: Enroll your children in a quality martial arts program (if it's a solid program, it does wonders!), pull them out and enroll them in a different private or parochial school (bullying still happens but usually less so), home school them, or find an accredited online school. These schools are ridiculous and really don't care. It's every child for him or herself.

There needs to be federal anti bullying laws passed that classifies bullying as a hate crime or something similar to protect kids and teens. Bullying could be the first sign of a lot of red flags in someone (being emotionally, physically and/or sexually abused by parents/ care takers, Anti Social Personality Disorder, bullying or harming animals, etc...) It's insane so many school districts look the other way at this.

Not if the room has 4 corners and a camera in each corner. But they should have parents there so they can witness everything themselves. I have a 14 year old nephew that threatened to bring a gun to school. I'm pretty sure he's being picked on. It doesn't help that his mom spends most of her time just yelling at him, his father that doesn't really care and his grandparents that pretty much just spoil him. I'm just the uncle and I try to talk to him and help him but my family discourages that and says I should just be the "cool" uncle. 🙄

Also, it is pathetic that if you defend yourself against a bully and fight back, you get suspended for fighting. You should be able to defend yourself from harm!

Parents, if your child is bullied go to the director for your child's school at the district office. File a police report too on all incidents with the officer for your child's school with the local PD. Tell the district your child is being 'harassed,' 'assaulted,' and/or 'abused.' Those are key words! If they do not make big moves at that, take the police report to a lawyer and file charges against the district. The #1 responsibility of a public school is child safety. #2 is education. In these situations, the districts are often not helping the victim or the bully. Don't forget the bullies are likely in a situation that's causing them to bully and they are victims too

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. While you wouldn't have to deal with this in your home or family, these kids grow up and get jobs. You will encounter adults who were bullied and bullies. Those bullies may be taking care of you someday when you get sick or are elderly. Even child-free adults should be contributing to a community where victims and bullies alike get the care they need to become decent adults. You don't live in this world alone.

At Von Tobel Middle school (bullying up at 59%) if you try to complain about the bullies, or try to press charges for assault by bullies they turn around and say well we have press charges on your kid for defending themselves also. But get this one. The school police makes threatening body language, and threatening conversations all for asking to see the video. Why won't the school let me see the video of the entrance to the bathroom from the classroom where the incident happened. All to "whitewash" the situation. How if I as a parent set up a meeting to discuss the situation, and you give me a time and date, I arrive but you have me waiting for you to speak to the mother of the kid that is one of the bullies first. Like it was no big deal... I won't forget that one Von Tobel. I won't forget the school CC school district board members not returning phone calls, when I tried to use the ladder to complain and address the situation. I would have not known what to do to contact the School district if it where not out of concern for a decent human being adult there that knew about the situation. To the school district police officer, you did that in front of witnesses, that worked in the office and in front of my mother and family. I had to end the conversation, and go stand along the wall because I clearly felt threatened.
As of this writing maybe there was some sort of personal relationship with that kid and the school. I was thinking this whole time that the school didn't want a bad name. There are good police out there though we all know that there are bad ones. One more thing for the CCSD officer. YOU ARE A 'BULLY' TOO!!! My kid went out of his way to go to a different school magnet program. That school "Western" was crappy too with all the fights, and gang activities I feel sorry for that girl. I sent 4 kids to Von Tobel, and would always be up there if there was any situation. The Vice Principle left and was not there at the time of this incident. I had decent communication with him too. Shame!! CCSDPD I hope you see this. You have some bullies. You probably already know.

Bullying has changed a lot since the 90's and 2000's/early 2010's. The reality of the situation is the School Districts all across the country have become more fearful of school bullies, than the victims. They refuse to do anything to save the person from being bullied and would rather focus on just doing their job. Things have gotten so much for violent during the past 5 years, with people being allowed to carry guns in public. Bullies get reported, they get even more angrier, they get a hold of their parent's guns, and they get away with it. Hell, these days even the parents go down to the school to start trouble. Bullies become parents later on in life, they pass that trait down to their own kids and the cycle continues with another generation.

  • @fighterwolfneon
    @fighterwolfneon 25 дней назад

I think the reason schools turn a blind eye and punish the victims when they stand up is because deep down, the higher ups and some teachers enjoy it. If a kid is being harassed for their looks, then the faculty agrees they’re a hideous “thing” that should be punished. When a kid is treated like dirt for not having much family, then the schools also values the rich and finds the poor disgusting. I can go on.

This can be preventable -- give bullies MUCH bigger consequences and mandatory counseling. Involve their parents, are THEY part of the problem? Something has to change. Too many young people need protection and aren't getting it. Unacceptable. I am often checking in with my kids and asking how things are going with other kids at school. We discuss bullying, what they can do if it happened to them, who they can trust to talk to, and never keep it to yourself!!! If you speak up for yourself and things don't change, tell me, and believe me I will handle the situation LOUDLY.
By the way, this isn't just an issue at schools. My friend who homeschools was just telling me her son kept getting bullied at Christian camp, so she had to stop sending him. No one at camp batted an eye. This to me is appalling!

  • @felixthecat2786

I never attended middle school, I went to a private K-8th grade school set up. Children were separated by age, so the 5th-8th graders were on the same floor. Despite that, I never felt like bullying was out of control or beyond the capacity of the teachers or principals. There was some bullying and cattiness as is common with middle schoolers, but nothing I couldn't handle and deal with. Even the most bullied girl in our class is doing well today because there was some modicum of control.
I think the worst thing we ever did was creating a separate middle school set up. We should either combine these schools with elementary or high school. High school would be better as these kids will have some modicum of fear from the older kids to control them. Kids this age are, by default, arrogant and entitled. The power trip that goes on their heads is insane. They need a healthy level of fear of their authority figures and elders. Bullies need to understand that they are not in control of the situation.

The bullies don't get punished. The students being bullied and defending themselves are the ones who get punished, even though the bully is well known.
My grandson missed his junior prom because he defended himself from a bully and was punished. He had his suit, she had her dress, and they were ready to go.
The next year Covid hit, so he never got to go to prom, or his graduation.
Nothing much ever happens to the bully, they get sympathy because they are "dealing with something", so they just keep doing it.
    Everything is backwards.
