    Pro tip:
    When using the Pen Tool, don't just click for your first point if you're going to be making a closed shape. If you do that, you'll end your shape with a weird, janky connection rather than a smooth, seamless curve. Start your shape out by clicking and dragging from your first point so that when you complete your shape, it looks so much cleaner and more professional.

    • @DaniloFiocco
      @DaniloFiocco  3 года назад +10

      That makes total sense! How did I not think of that? I always had trouble fixing the jankiness after the fact. Dang
      Thanks for the tip, mate! ;)

    This is a terrific tutorial! Thank you for going step by step and explaining - not just doing a speed art. Please keep doing these! Side note: perhaps use a few different background songs to break it up a little? and don't be afraid to keep them low volume and in the background. There were a number of times the background music got very loud all of a sudden. keep up the great work!

    Such a good tutorial. I illustrate occasionally (I started out as an illustrator and eventually became more of a designer so don’t draw much anymore) and actually forced myself to learn affinity by doing some illustrating for about a year. I use some of the same techniques ( i sometimes draw in paper. Sometimes use the pixel persona in affinity or sometimes just skip it) a lot of my illustration style uses basic vector shapes instead of drawing a lot so its a little more design oriented. I also often create different artboards but its just as progress in the drawing instead of for each step. I also dont create a version with just the flat colors which makes a lot of sense. It never occurred to me and ive been doing this a long time. Thanks for the tutorial. Some great tips i can use the next time i want to draw some characters.

    Superb. I love the way you teach us like a 10 yr old. So clear in approach why the steps were taken the way they were taken. Thank you.
    If may i ask, can you please make a tutorial on how to pick and choose colors for illustrations. Color theory is not at all useful while applying to illustration without solid examples.

    • @DaniloFiocco
      @DaniloFiocco  3 года назад +1

      I’m glad you liked it, Venkata 😀
      Here’s the thing. Since I’m self taught I never really got into color theory and whatnot. So I wouldn’t know how to make a tutorial on that.
      But what I can tell you is - which has worked for me - that I pick colors instinctively and try them out until they “feel good”. Which may not happen at first. But the more you do it, the better you get.
      I’m a practical person and not very patient. Just wanted to get my hands dirty and try stuff. It may not be as productive as having formal training but it’s fun as hell! 😀
