Richie, Kenny and Sam held it together on that side of the stage. Tks for the great view of a memorable performance.
A master at playing just barely behind the beat- maybe the best ever at it:) Richie gives Little Feat the groove and maintains a little tension almost teasing the listener by playing ever so slightly behind the beat. Brilliant.
Best drummer I have ever seen play live. And I almost had to delete that statement because I saw Greg B. With Ringo. But the way he played like a little kid playing with such joy and it showed on the page and plant tour. His rendition of gallows pole is amazing. As a drummer I think of him often and fondly!
Man half the band is gone...some of the great musicians that were so diverse in their music, from jazz to funk to country, RIP to all that passed on...DE FEATS!
RIP two legends , Richie and Lowell
Was at this show.... bought the soundboard recording and have a guitar autographed by them all.... rip Richie
A great video- from a backstage point of view we don't get . And it reinforces why I argue that Little Feat is the best damn live band of my life. Once got a chance to chat with Richie about my first Feat show, Georgetown U with Paul Butterfield, Bonnie Raitt and Arthur Big Boy Crudup. I'll always judge drummers by this high standard. Rock on, Richie
Richie Hayward and Lowell George two sad cases. It's always the great ones. Zappa, SRV, Chapin, Croce, Petty. Not to wish bad luck on anyone but we lose those guys and the little turds and the boy bands will probably live forever. Try and figure that all out. Anyhow I've seen all of the above mentioned bands or musicians singer-songwriters at one time or another and I would like to think my life is just a little bit better after the privilege of watching them perform. Rest in peace all of you. And when we meet up on the other side I can't wait to see what kind of show you have put together over the years. See you all soon
At 1:52 Richie swings the pocket like a rubber band. That is true mastery of groove. Most drummers just cant feel that. RIP Master Richie
Miss him so much.
RIP Richie. Godamn, can't believe you've left us. Going to see the Feat on Wednesday with a heavy heart....
Hard to believe it's been 10 years.
RIP you legend
Thanks for posting...Richie Hayward one of the all time great groove drummers., godspeed to his recovery!
what a drag..he beat cancer only to be taken by pneumonia....one of the all time great!!
Ah but there is video of him in 2010 at Vancouver Island Music Fest, joining the band for a good chunk of the set, and rocking it.
