Lin is a legend in this sport and without a doubt one of the best. But for LOH KY, ranked 125 to reach the final is already an achievement but to beat Lin in a final with all that pressure mounting, I tell you that boy is somewhat special. It is exciting whenever you get to see a young raising star emerging.

Loh, you did us Singaporeans proud. I hope you’re watching this video and celebrating your well-deserved victory. Just some advice from my observations. You have to be confident is your game and overcome your giants. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, LD, LCW or whoever. You’re young, strong, fast, well trained and skillful. Do not be shy to demonstrate it. LD is good, no doubt. But he likes to intimidate his opponents through his showmanship. Don’t give in to that, let him be. Just focus on your game, stay confident and cut down on unforced errors! Look at Taufik, he always displays a cool, calm and collected demeanour no matter how adverse the gameplay may be. Keep your poker face on throughout the game. Don’t show any signs of nervousness and anxiety for it shows weakness and will give your opponent confidence to take control and affect your game. I know it’s easy for me to say as a viewer, not undergoing the adrenaline rush and pressure you’re experiencing but it shows very clearly (like knocking racquet on your head). However, take this constructive criticism in a positive light. Wish you all the best in your career, train hard and hope to see you emerge champion in 2020 Olympics as a world-class player. And great defense btw! I believe that all badminton kakis in Singapore will support you.
-Fellow SG badminton player, Marcus O.

2 years after winning this match, Loh has become the world champion. Of course, he is so much more powerful in his attacks and defence now but he already proved he was a world champ to be after beating LD. BTW, recently he also beat KM and fair to say he must be good at handling top left handers.

Lin Dan's so polite to this new player!!! 3 times he won by trick shot he raised his racket to say "sorry": 15:17, 17:46, and 45:48. I've also got some of Lin Dan's nice smashes: 21:11, 23:38, 33:03, 33:50, 40:51, 47:05. Isn't it amazing how Lin Dan is 14 years older but he seems much less tired from the rallies? Like in 42:53 and 47:05, he's just so much less tired than Loh!

Yes Lin Dan is masterful in hand skills and footwork. He eases into shots easily. Youngsters can get wrong footed sometimes. Lin Dan rarely does. That's why he's not tired.
