The crazy thing is, she loved the twins all along. Ironically, she ended up dying because she overheard her children wondering about their father and wanted to make them happy. Even when she got stabbed and her life flashed before her eyes, and the flashing started from the moment her children were born. Meaning that this is when her life truly began for her. Even when she saw her children at her show, and smiled people were implying how it was genuine and "different". It's so crazy to see it all come full circle. Such a sad story for Ai, she truly deserved better
exactly. i wonder, if Aqua and Ruby came to know that they indirectly are the reason she died, how would they react...
@@MemorieMusic honestly I think aqua might find out when he eventually has a confrontation with their father and he tries to put the blame on the kids. I think that would fit in nicely with the story
@@ShinigamiKenReacts i think so too, but then again, Oshi no ko is full of unexpected twists and turns
small Spoiler:
they actually aren’t the reason, if you pay attention the stalker came right before she was about to go the dome which is for big idols only, its something related to that
@@naopoint4096 I was talking about how she gave the address to the father and he ended up allegedly giving it to the stalker. When she was talking to him through the pay phone she gave her address. Then a day or two later, the stalker showed up. The only people aside from Ai that were shown to know the address were the president/his wife, and the father
Last scene of her was just terrifying and scary to look at , they nailed it with the artstyle
Mate so true! That image was just insane

I swear when a innocent character dies it hurts me dude. Heroes doing epic sacrifices? Cool, villains with sad backstories? Great. Someone who didnt deserve it? I NEED VENGANCE
When a innocent character dies, it doesn't hurt. A serrated blade is jammed into your chest, ripping a tear through your body before your guts are ripped out, your heart wrenched and crushed. When someone who didn't deserve it. Something else dies along with them. Vengance may be satisfying. But it does not change anything. What we need is acceptance. Acceptance that this, this is infact happening. Acceptance that yes, you will need to move on. Acceptance that yes, they were innocent, they didn't deserve it. Acceptance that a soul, one that had a place in yours, had been ripped out and cleansed. Acceptance that they had indeed... died.
Man am I overcomplicating things?

Rieri’s work as Ai was breathtaking. One of her best works.
I think this might be her best work of the year in terms of delivery of emotions
@@satella5509 well yeah she had to give it her all because she only has that much screen time
You skipped the best part about the adaptation which is voice acting.
*Spoiler warning*
Rie Takahashi had some really impressive portfolio already but the way she gave life to Ai is astonishing. She even consulted real life medical experts so that she can sound convincing while dying.
ALSO RUBY'S VA - Yurie Igoma
This is her FIRST ANIME she voices in and she sounds like a professional that's been 20 years in the industry.
Go to whatever site you watched the episode on, skip to 1:14:14 and give it a one more listen. Her voice goes from hardly believing, through anger, disgust, non-believing "Why is the internet like this?", grief, anger again and finally to crying from the bottom of her heart.
That scene gave me the same emotional damage as Ai's "I was finally able to say it".
That single one minute monologue carried so many emotions that I couldn't process them in time. I had to go back to understand everything she said.
I've read the manga but I still cried like a baby because of both the seiyuu's performances.
As a fan of re zero i was fully expecting to hear emillia but all i heard was her Ai. Also while watching her death scene i noticed how hard breathing can be heard. Also her strugling to speak which is amazing. My respect for her voice actor grew so much after watching this episode

20 years, very specific, is this a reference?

First 90 min long episode, Rie Takahashi soft voice, Cute Twin and one shocked Death I Must says it: Masterpiece!!! Also author is the one make Kaguya sama Love is War ❤
The episode really had it all 🤟
You forgot to mention the double reincarnation plot point with her twins.
PLOT TWIST that I didn't see coming.
People forget that this series is done in the love is war universe, which is done by the same author Aka Akasaka. Many weeks from 2020 until Love is War manga ending in 2022 he would draw a love is war, chapter and write this series well within the same week. Very few authors can do that. Hell, the love is war anime still has about three more seasons, and Oshi No Ko is still pumping out new chapters.
Well so and so universe, people forget because it doesn't really matter since you don't need information from one world for the other, both are human society. He had been writing Oshi no Ko since he was 3/5ths done with Kaguya (like 2020 around that time).
Yup, the man casually wrote two mangas that were consistently in the big 5 of the magazine they were published in, simultaneously. There is a reason he is nicknamed Genius mangaka Aka Akasaka.
yuu was still did dirty and should got harem at ending
I read the manga, and shirogane was a photographer for ruby (aqua's sister), and they also acted sweet today (manga on love is war)
True not to mention oshinoko basically spoiled kaguya and shiroganes far future in ch 90
As a manga reader, I’m going to say that the story is excellent through and through (as befits of anything written by Akasaka), but the first episode got so much hype that I doubt the rest of the anime will be able to live up to it. I could be surprised, but I think a part of the public will leave now that the premise has been fully revealed, because it’s not the kind of story they enjoy.
I was blown away by the first episode and got myself up to date with the manga immediatly. It felt like a breath of fresh air. Its like im watching someone's real life play out because they go from child to adult/beyond that. Im completly invested in every character now and rooting for all of them 😭😭😭
bullshit she dies and talk about shit oh my god its marvel anime
For me it truly lives up to the hype. From the few literature works i've read its the best for me.What i think is that instead of not living up to the hype , whats happening is that Akasaka needed time to build up the story so and added chapters of the story that are obviously not the tension points to hit us with how is going to end.It all will start with the next chapter and for me at least, everything is so well linked and the end is going to exceed the hype
After her death man her body not only looked scary to me but for some reason Ai-chan reminded me of a Female Vengeful Spirit. Tho I think she looked that way was cause the Doctor said it himself that she was bright like a star which was shown in her eyes and colorful/bright appearance but once she died it was like a star dying and losing it's light/shine as well.
dont worry....shes gonna reincarnate into another persons kid
@@sandyk9300 That’s good to hear.
@@xLotusAngel626x I just wanna say, that’s false. She will indeed not reincarnate as someone’s kid. The latest part of the manga is only up to chapter 115. Chapters 1-115 have absolutely nothing to do with Ai reincarnating as someone’s kid. Sorry to ruin your hope but I don’t wanna see someone get trolled
@@xLotusAngel626x this whole Ai reincarnation thing is just mere speculation with nothing to back it up whatsoever
@@sandyk9300 get these goofy theories outta here nothing like thats been confirmed
One thing I really love about the anime adaptation so far is that it incorporates motifs into the plot that the author hadn’t fully realised when he wrote those early chapters.
The main two being:
The crows as a death/murder motif in Goro’s murder and Aqua’s final big scene in ep1
The black star eyes for Ai getting recruited as an Idol in the flashback
This episode actually broke me,I got so depressed after watching it that I couldn’t even bother to watch the other seasonal anime on my list,I got 1 episode behind in like 6 different series. Only today that I actually started numbing down to just seeing Ai,before I’d get sad just from looking at her. I’ve never had this happen to me before, that’s a level of investment in a character that I never reached in such a short time.
I wanted to give you a recommendation: As a manga reader I know that the episodes following the 1 may not live up to the expectation but what's coming in the manga , for me personally its completely worth not reading the manga and experiencing all the first experiences in anime if the animation is this good.Dont know you as an individual but i dont want anyone to be impatient and drop out of watching the anime after the build up episodes coming that obviously not as good as this insane introduction
Same thing happened to me and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
That would be a neat crossover actually.
Did you watch erased
Same. It's usually really hard for me to even tear up when I'm watching emotional scenes in anime. But everytime I see Ai, I cry like a baby. I have no idea why it affects me so much.
It's by far the most wholesome ending I have seen since the end of Jetman.
So many emotions in that ending
Ai is such a great character. Her way of navigating the fakeness of the industry and the effect that had on her mindset made her feel so grounded
Oshi no Ko was amazing on first episode!!
It was so well and worth the 90 minutes. Ai had such amazing develop later on in the episode and when that ending showed up. Thats when it all hit and tears came running down. I dont remember crying that hard

Truly a masterpiece. It better stay at number 1 on MAL
I’m sure it will for a bit
Nah, fma fandom gonna spam 1 rating

I feel pretty confident in saying that this is just another anime with an interesting premise that will ultimately fail to live up to expectations and people will have mostly forgotten this series in about a year so
nah its new thing so it will stay.
Nah, it's the same author as Kaguya-sama. It would take a major fuck up for it to not live up to expectations and utterly flop.
@@whyyoumadbro2370 Guessing that the major fuck-up for Oshi No Ko would be a huge detailed explanation on how Gorou and Sarina got reincarnated to be the descendants of Ai Hoshino via direct magical force explained instead of letting it be unknown and mysterious
After seeing it and reading it myself?
Definitely hype train tbh. Alot of the fans are (of course) going to say it's a masterpiece, as they do with all media, but as someone who just picked it up for the sake of picking it up -- it's not all that. It can tug at your heartstrings, but it's more of a decent read than a masterpiece. You can read most other manga and achieve a similar effect. I recommend keeping your expectations on the low.
Respect
Even though as someone who read the manga and knew what was coming, I still C R I E D at the part Ai died. The voice work, the animation, the direction is all so amazing and unlike other manga adaptation, there never felt like an unnatural progression. Simply Fantastic, damn.
That feeling I first get that on I will eat your Pancreas, we know Sakura will die, the story tells you she will die on the first part of movie. But even preparing for that, the story made you care for sakura she's a girl giving off Kaoru's vibes but then she turns die by stabbing. Damn.
I agree! I read the manga before Oshi no Ko's adaption came out and I was a bit sad when reading it, but when it came in the anime it hits so much harder which is crazy to think.
I had the chills watching oshi no ko
The combo of the cuteness and the terror is just... perfect
It's fooling how we are charmed by the art style when the anime is just PERIOD
I love the director. Hopefully we will see more of him.
Don't worry he will appear more (he basically acts as Aqua's father/master)
I completely agree with the RUclipsr on this one thing he said. When he says if it wants to stay at the top for anime of the year, every or most episodes need to be as good as the first episode. Which the first episode is definitely the carrying point for the exaggerated rating and hype
The director is legit one of my favourite character in the manga.
They probably won't reveal the father in this adaptation but damn, I stared at that panel for 5 minutes straight
They will but not in this season atleast
This is an anime I was probably going to skip but because of the hype I checked it out and glad I did. It was an amazing first episode and can’t wait to see how it turns out
This series is Fan-tastic & at least to me is a great blend of the anime movie Perfect Blue & the series Zombie Land Saga with a big mystery at the end for the dying star (which in Japanese is “hoshi”)
- Also the voice of Ai that being Rie Takahashi has been getting a lot of great roles / series lately
She absolutely killed the role!
They made a great choice making the first episode this long, I don’t think it have the impact it did if it was broken up to like 20 minutes and episode.
That last scene made me speechless, what a first episode.
As a manga reader, I can say that the series probably isn't going to progress in the way that you'd think after that first episode. Just get rid of all your expectations for what the series will have in store and you will probably enjoy it more.
Tbh sure it starts focusing less on the revenge plot. But the way it delves into the darker and realer aspects of entertainment industry, as someone who enjoyed Act Age and Skip Beat, i was so happy to finally watch all these amazingly written side characters.
Like holy shit, i love nearly all the characters in the manga, which is something i normally struggle to like especially when there is a large cast of characters. But Akasaka-sensei managed to friggin like all these side characters like Melt, Mem, the two mangakas, the live adaptation script writer and so on. Hell, the favourite arc of the manga for me was the whole Tokyo Blade live adaptation arc, and MOST OF IT WAS ABOUT ACTING AND ABOUT THEATER RATHER THAN THE WHOLE REVENGE PLOT.
@@albedo-sama9778 Yeah, I agree. It's just that now I feel like most people won't see the story for how it is and they're gonna be disappointed because it's not as edgy/dark as they thought it would be yk.
@@sir_chicken_man tbh if they can't see how amazing the writing is later on despite not being fully focused on the whole revenge plot, that's their loss.
But anyone who understands amazing writing would easily enjoy the rest of the arcs.
Lol i didn't think i would get a reply to my comment, but I'm glad u weren't trying to say tht the plot became bad/mid later on like some other ppl were saying.
@@albedo-sama9778 I think OP was just talking about expectations, not that the rest of the manga is bad. Anime fans can be fickle and demanding lol, so I agree with them. The series has very high quality writing all the way through, but it's true that it can be more slice of life/romance/industry drama at times than murder mystery. I do think the people who end up sticking around will like it.
it got boring and is on that delay writing story trope type
Yall are in for a ride because the episodes dont get worse, from here it gets better.
the twist ending was such a shock. the visuals is what shocked me the most. Especially How they use the star in their eyes. Making them shine bright on happy moments. Black when they're down, and of course the moment at the end of the episode.
* spoiler park.*
The art style was amazing when it was around. All main characters, mother being that she's an idol and they live reat life with her. Only for the colours to go darker on a death and the funeral, especially when a mainly Aqua decided to get revenge. As soon as I saw that scene, especially with the visuals and what they decided to do with the star in the eye. That got me very excited to start watching this series and see where it would go.
I mean I expected the twist, and saw it a bit before it went down, but it still hit so fucking hard because it just. Kept. Going.
Man just seeing the clip again takes me right back, same reaction and everything.
that shot of Ai's dead body hunts me
as a manga reader, I tell you it get crazier
Saying the first episode was an emotional roller coaster is the biggest understatement of the century.
it's not that ai wanted to forgive the killer. she was protecting aqua from the killer that whole scene. look at her body position in that scene, she keeps herself between aqua and the killer, and when the killer looks at aqua, she pushes herself forward to keep his eyes on her. she's despreate to protect aqua from the psychopath, and went all out to make him stop.
I only know that when she died I was in shock for like 2 hours that I didnt sleep at night thinking 'why'. Now this is why I need to make sure to check for any sad things and spoil myself to prepare for these things
FMAB fandom on their way to spam 1 star ratings lmao.
This is just like love and war and spy family a hit wonder riding on hype train. In few years it will go out.
I think the hype is definitely (and bafflingly tbh) overdone considering better or equally quality anime have definitely been made and they didn't make it to #1 on MAL, but it is definitely one of the more interesting and brilliantly produced shows to come out from the last few years. The choice to make volume one movie-length in order to deliver a proper "prologue" to the twins story was brilliant and says that the directors really feel strongly about doing justice to this series.
Yup lots of good shows which far exceed oshi no ko out there which never got this level of hype but it’s still a great series and the decision to air the first 10 chapters as a 90 minute special really did work wonders.
1 Episode in and I'm already had an existential crisis thinking about the struggles other performers went through Whether IRL like The Rev (the 1st Drummer of Avenged Sevenfold) , Chester Bennington (Singer of Linkin Park) or Mike Portony (First Drummer of Dream Theater who swapped in for The Rev after his death in 2009) or Fictional ones like Rika Kawai. It certainly didn't help that I just finished rewatching Wonder Egg the Friday before Episode 1 came out
So so true! Never thought of that aspect but you’re spot on!
THAT'S WHERE AI'S VOICE KEPT BUGGING ME.
Because I didn't have highdive, I was frantically trying to see if other places had it. I was so lucky Netflix Japan had it and the moment I watched it, my journey to find this episode was worth it all.
man i never even expected ai to die so soon but more than that the sudden death of her was rlly shocking and the animators nailed it with the animation like fr i felt it throughout my nerves

Indeed Oshi no ko is a masterpiece in fact it may even be anime of the year material. Going in as an anime only definitely improved the experience as I didn't know what I was dipping my feet into. I make a habit to keep spoilers at a minimum so don't read the rest if you haven't watched it
it was so unexpected The first episode was amazing they really baited us making it seem Ai is the main character i wonder how the story progresses in the other episodes maybe because i just wanna see Aqua take revenge. It really hit hard like I want to eat your pancreas type shet but this was just even more sad Ai was so pure and didn't deserve this.I cried my eyes out as well that sudden change as she got stabbed just piano music mad either even more sad the star in her eyes going away and just seeing a corpse made it hit so hard. Her saying I love you and realising that it wasn't a lie mad me so depressed but happy at the same time, man bitter sweet things just idk how to describe it
Also How the hell did the author went from making wholesome romcom like kaguya sama, then proceeded to make something like this. This guy is built different definitely up there with the greats.
Loved your video though the whole community can't wait for more episodes. I am extremely tempted to read the manga
The season one probably will end in chapter 68-72 range in manga viewpoint. the chapter's are really short but not too short. And aqua is a siscon just to get it out of the way don't worry it's not big spoiler or anything you'll literally see the proof at second episode
Have you read kaguya sama? It would be more obvious if you read beyond what's shown in the anime but the show already has really dark undertones like Kaguya's family, Ishigami's backstory, Iino's need for affection and Shirogane's inferiority complex. Oshi no Ko has the same dark tones but was just brought forefront hahaha
@@username-ql8ox ah I havent read the manga yet will read it though. Ig its just not noticeable in love is war unlike in oshi no ko

The 90min prologue. This along with The Witch from Mercury episode 0 were emotional first episodes. Also YOASOBI did the OP for both series. Their music is so good.
The marketing was brilliant. All the large advertising screens in shibuya playing clips of AI and making the first episode 90min was masterclass. If you weren't familiar with the source material and saw AI dancing and singing on the Shibuya screens and then watching the first episode must have been shocking.

What a wholesome show.
coming from someone who is VERY critical about a lot of anime, its worth the #1 spot, hands down
I loved the first 2 episodes, but I think its still sad about what happened to Ai, but Aqua is finna be the next, Lelouch, Light Yagami, or Ayanokoji, like bro literally unlocked his mangekyo sharingan when he said he was finna kill his dad😭
I wish we got those glimpses of the future in this episode that appear in the first 10 chapters. Maybe they'll do it in the next? I'm a bit excited for where it goes and might just read the manga
Thanks For making these videos! Your channel rocks!
Thank you so much for watching them 🤟
Personally I hate it, the clickbait hype around it. The author writing strategy. They absolutely hype the fuck out of it with Ai as the poster/main characters, turn out it's clickbait, the twin are the actual main. And the author use the strategy of "make the characters so lovable and kill it" to get readers attention. And it work for alot anime/video game, ppl would call it masterpiece if whatever this strategy used.
Just finished the first episode and only 1 word came out of my mouth.
*_M A S T E R P I E C E._*
I can't remember the last time i was this invested in a series. For me at least it's one of those landmark series like Eva that has really left an impression.
You know a anime is god when 3 words are enough to make a man cry
I was not expecting this to turn into a revenge story. Real shame the mom died
i havent finished the manga but, HOLY SHIT CAN AKANE GET SOME RECOGNITION?? I LITERALLY CRIED, IM NOT EVEN JOKING THERE WERE TEARS FALLING DOWN MY FACE WHEN SHE JUMPED
Totally blew me away! So dark, the twins offer great character development This is truly promising
i think the marketing for the first ep was also done crazy well cuz they put rie takahashi as ai's va knowing full well shes killed off after the first episode and wouldve gotten not much exposure afterwards, basically luring anime-only fans who know who rie takahashi is into a false sense of security
didnt work on me tho cuz im caught up on the manga already >:D
4:35 threw me off guard. I heard “Now, I gave birth…” lol
Watched the first episode as it was released to avoid spoilers and I loved it. I was iffed by the tropes present and I predicted the ending halfway through it but I cried when AI died. That being said, not my cup of tea.
atleast 50% of the budget went to the eyes
If you're interested in behind the scenes info and how the entertainment industry works it's great
Oshi no ko has me hooked, I’ve never been so attached to a character so quickly… even after THAT scene, Ai is still my favourite character
There was a scene cut out in the beginning regarding sarina and gorou and it will have some significance later on when they explain his full backstory.
I just hope that Ai gets reborn aswell and meet up with ruby and aqua again..it might would be a bit weird but that's the only ending i can accept at this point. She deserves happiness and true love.
This episode effects me still today. Absolutely outstanding.
As anime analyst yourself, how episodes usually does anime need to adapting 10 chapters manga?
Correct me if I'm wrong, that first episode is just 10 chapters 🔥🔥
It will take the whole existence of anime by storm
I'm not lying when I say the first ep/the prologue is the best part of the entire thing
I caught up to the manga in about 3 or 4 days and it's great, not good but great (which is better ofc)
But it doesn't get to that level again imo
I'm so fucking glad these series is getting the treatment it deserves. The adaptation is incredible, and it's getting more than enough attention. Happy to see one of my favorite mangas reach such a level of success.
The episode was absolutely stunning from the art style to the story telling the twists and turns and the way all the characters interacted with each other was really good and just from the episode alone it has jumped into my top 5 maybe even 3 shows of all time
Fullmetal Alchemist was number 1 on MAL, and nothing was able to take it's place. I like FMA but Oshi no Ko just took this years best anime award in my heart at least! Jigokuraku is another amazing show this year, but Oshi no Ko just dominated it for me...
Recuerdo que Kaguya Sama también tomó el primer lugar, actualmente es el número 7, probablemente así pase con Oshi no Ko
The 1st episode is so good man. I watched half of it one night and then half the other night and I thought the first half was good but nothing insane but it was also very obvious that the author was building up to something and he had great execution at the end of the episode. Even before the end with the girl learning how to dance, that part of the episode was so well done man. Imo Oshi No Ko episode 1 (its literally a movie) deserves anime of the year. Idk if the anime will continue on at that same level but that episode def deserves recognition.
I wanna watch Oshi No Ko (I don’t have any anime streaming sites) and even though I haven’t I just know that it’s inspired me, with the art and storytelling. Like wow the whole story is so shocking from what I’ve seen and I just wow, I hope one day I’ll be able to make something like it
As a manga readera and an avid fan of aka akasaka, this will be a masterpiece
Trust me. It will get even wild from here.
What I can say is. It nailed Morden day society. You’ll understand that once you keep watching it. Or those who read the manga. You can spoiled but don’t spoiled the important part. But I can see why it’s on the top of MAL. Despite it getting bombed for a bit as far as I’ve seen.
"wow, wow wow wow" I say while crying my heart out
I rarely cry to any anime but Oshi no ko almost made me shed a tear and made me feel depressed for the next 30 minutes
I just don't understand how highly rated this is on MAL this anime is a 8 at best.
Having the saturated reincarnation + adults readily accepting and instantly cope with babies talking big was just completely ridiculous.
I walked into this anime expecting some daily slice of life with ok animation while waiting for other weekly update. I walked out with my heart in shambles, blown away and it was amazing.
The story was realistic(to a haunting degree) and everyone could emphatise with a mother trying her best but also someone who wants to chase their dreams. It hit a lot of demographic on the relatable counter.
I saw it in Netflix I ignored it for a few days I checked the anime and I saw it was “most liked” and out of curiosity I checked it out it was all fun and wholesome I didn’t noticed gorou died until I found out that aqua’s past life was gorou I watched it and saw ai get stabbed by the stalker I was quieted by that scene but I was crying inside and when I saw her starless dead eyes it made the sorrow worst and the scene of ai celebrating her kids birthday made it even worst I tried to talk to my friends thinking they had the same feeling nope my friends told me it’s trash and isn’t sad I was too sad to be angry at them now this anime is my ptst I rewatch the scene where the door rung, I stayed still but my souls was screaming telling her not to open the door, when checking Netflix for something to watch I saw the anime one the menu ruin my day at school my friends that was in online told me the anime sucks and another one told me they aren’t sad only one has the same feelings, now I am currently depressed
i just saw the trailer for the anime yesterday and checked out the manga and caught up to it in a day it is such a good read full of mystery and i am waiting for the next chapter to release
The director of the anime not the director in the series is seriously cracked
I'm optimistically skeptical whether or not the show will be able to fully ride the wave it started with this first episode, but Oshi no Ko having one of if not the strongest opener in the medium as a whole is history.
At the moment it's top 1 anime ever at least on MyAnimelist
Ending was just huge exposition dump. I could not get emotional about it and the children where already adults so could care about them nether.
I’ve been spoiled before watching the first episode. And the ending still hit me so hard I bawled my eyes out.
Just when I thought i might recover from the mountains of emotional trauma and despair inflicted by Cyberpunk edgerunners.. BOOM here comes another one!
The exposition of the dark reality in the Japanese industry, the drama, I'm loving all of it. Those hating on this anime for it being "melodramatic", why tf are you even watching this??
ALSO, I've come across people hating on this anime for the "obvious situations" explained through long dialogues + the slight supernatural elements. I want to remind these idiots that ANIME DOES NOT CATER TO THE AMERICANS stop comparing the reality described in it to HOLLYWOOD! Acknowledge that there will ALWAYS be a cultural layer in anime/manga. Reincarnation is a VERY common plot in countries where religion & culture heavily influences even the contemporary stories told.
