      Toji involvement in no understatement an important moment in the story.
      Without him:
      The Star plasma vessel would merge with tengan
      Geto wouldn't spiral to what he became in JJK 0 and Kenjaku controlling his body
      Gojo wouldn't have become as strong as he is without his involvement.
      And a Succession crisis that leads to a clan being destroyed.

      toji is one of the most fascinating characters in the whole story. Because of how important to the story he is, how impactful to the current timeline he is, his ties to various characters we know, and just how little we actually know of him. We only see him in the last hours of his life. The similarities he has to many of our main cast (gojo, maki, megumi). Just how little we know of the sweet loving family man he was, contrasted with the cunning, ruthless, cutthroat man weighed down by his traumas that we see him to be. The fact that even in his last moment with his son, he doesn't even tell him who he is, despite how much he obviously cares for him. I don't see tojo willingly stopping his rampage for anyone else except megumi. After fighting him im sure he was genuinely proud of his son, and truly happy that he's doing okay in life, *without* the zenin clan. I think toji truly thought megumi was just better off without his father in his life, and figured it's better to remain an anonymous relic of megumi's past rather than reveal himself and add baggage to megumi's life.

    What honestly sticks with me about Toji, despite his give no fuck attitude, despite having power and skills that make him more than a competitive match for any special grade short of adult Gojo and Sukuna, he’s clearly horribly depressed.
    I’m not going to argue he’s a good father, but it’s clear that Megumi and his mother gave him a security and comfort in himself and a purpose greater than self affirmation that kept him centered. Once she disappears and he no longer feels like he’s enough, he regresses into old habits and sells his son away because how could he ever be enough. It’s clear that Toji is at his best as a person when he’s looking out for the best interest of others, which makes his second death so tragic because the moment he saw he had been so close to killing his son, once he confirmed the identity, without hesitation he kills himself before he can regress back to his instincts. He may not be a good dad, but he had the makings of one and the tragedy is he could never see it in himself and try to keep himself centered.

      In a way, you can see a ton of Megumi in Toji and vice-versa. Megumi gives up alot for others when he would fit the troupe of an extremely selfish character and Toji can be viewed as a Megumi who is increadibly greedy and selfish of his own desires without caring for others truly.

    Toji is the personification of one of the most interesting and simple parts of Jujutsu's world building, imo: The majority of a Sorcerer's potential is simply innate talent. Other shounen often talk up Hard Work and Go Get'em Attitude, but nevertheless give the protagonists some amazing bloodline ability or innate power-up that separates them from the rest. Jujutsu just straight up says, if you're born useless, you can only hope to reach mediocre
    Toji is born incredible, but within the eyes of his clan is subhuman. So even when your talents are inborn, they STILL may not be recognized and appreciated by those around you

      And as I put an example, Miwa is not part of the big 3, has no bloodline with strong abilities or powers. Shes the most normal as they go, she now cant use her sword anymore rendering her completely usless.

    Ironic how the "monkey" that was excluded and ridiculed from the Jujutsu World brought upon the event that changed everything in the world. Toji was the event that occurred that brought down a cascading sequence of events that we know the Jujutsu World as today.

    Toji being addicted to gambling makes so much sense for his character. as someone whose core belief is that if you're born as a monkey you'll die as a monkey and no amount of hard work can change that, gambling as his vice is symbolic of that constant internal struggle. he is seen specifically at betting spots like horse or boat races, instead of the casino, and in bets it's significantly easier to fix the outcome. the winner is chosen at the beginning, they are born a winner and the others are born losers. Toji never wins, but he always comes back and he always stays until the very end, even when it becomes obvious who will win. because in betting races, there will occasionally be a dark horse, an underdog that no one expects to win who will come out on top at the last second, against all odds. that's what toji is betting on, he's betting on himself

But i dont think he changed, I think that it could be used for his change of heart maybe? When he died in tight black, he used his final moments to show hes not the invisible man, hes not only the invisible killer but also a father. Then, he returns with the oversized white shows the change he may have felt, maybe the space shows that hes himself. He finally acknowledged he is Toji Fushiguro, not Toji Zenin with both heart and soul.

    Love how toji being free of cursed energy(the literal "curse" on humanity and also the thing that alienated toji) ironically is what allowed him to affect the story so heavily. Someone unbound by fate and the conventions placed on everyone else by the narrative because of his "imperfection" was the only person able to change fate. He was the most free person in jjk, but he was still bound by trauma. Just a fundamentally human character which makes his parallels with gojo(a lonely god) so good.

    This is what I love about stories like JJK and Bleach. There is so much depth and nuance, but a lot of it doesn't even present itself on the surface. It's a lot of subtext that the writers want you to draw your own conclusions from. The stories are really as deep as you want them to be, and that's a level of skill with the pen that I can hardly comprehend. I truly wish I had even a fraction of the talent that so many mangaka have.

    I like to also think of Toji as a changer of fate itself. He’s unbound from the jujusu world entirely from no cursed energy. Cursed energy itself seems to have fate woven in it to some extent.. the fact there has never really been a 6 eyes sorcerer stronger than gojo isn’t really a coincidence. Gojo was never meant to be that strong, nor was Riko ever suppose to die. Almost everything happening in the story is the direct result of Tojis actions (birth of Megumi) (Elevation of Gojo to become the strongest).
    Toji has changed fate itself because he is unbound from Jujutsu world from no cursed energy.. the domino effects are unreal from him and have completely changed the world and set it on a new path. He is unshackled, the bare flesh of the one who is free.

    • @spoon2537
      @spoon2537 5 месяцев назад +10

    • @reddulinko
      @reddulinko 4 месяца назад

      Tbh I doubt that his lack of curse energy is connected with fate, specially because I don't recall no one ever speaking about fate throughout the manga or it being a theme at any point, so I doubt that it is related since the author doesn't want the manga to be about that or to be one of its themes.
      But still I like your theory and actually make sense when you think about it. Is also pretty funny to think about the implications of people without curse energy being capable of changing fate since (SPOILERS from the manga) Maki has acquired the exact same heavenly restriction as Toji so now she is capable of changing the fate of the jujutsu world too

      @@reddulinkoThe manga says the six eyes and the plasma star vessels and master tengen are bound by fate, so I don’t think it’s fair to say that fate is not an important theme in the story. In fact, I would go so far as to say that in the story there is a natural balance and cycle of things that seem to occur and recur due to fate or happenstance, whichever you choose to believe. I would say it’s fair to say that Toji was a disruptor of fate and these cycles which has now led to a domino effect of the world changing.

They view weak sorcerers born from their line as scum and treat them like little more than slaves, their own flesh and blood. Women are little more than breeding facilitators and "educators" for the new generation. Toji was born without CE and he was relentlessly abused and made to kill cursed spirits since he was a child, the moment he started to do that with ease and finally fully manifested the true extent of his heavenly restriction the higher-ups of the clan feared for their lives, but killing Toni would be too much of a risk so they let him walk free of the clan. Maki suffered the same childhood as toji, except worse in other aspects because she's a woman until she ran away and let her twin sister take all of the abuse.

    I always thought that Toji was the most blessed im the Zen'in clan. We don't truly know what is the origins of Heavenly Restricted beings like him, Maki and even Mechamaru but they fit the perfect anecdote of people having nothing to lose, being able to give everything. Theyre not in two minds about the limits (physical and cursed technique wise). They can dedicate everything to just honing one thing in their lives.
    But because of the influences of their heritage, they believed that they had nothing. And thats what shackled them mentally.
    Toji was truly blessed, he just didnt see it. He was completely free from the chains of fate in the Jujutsu world and therefore, never had to suffer a sorcerers death. There truly was no one like him in the Jujutsu world. He couldve walked away, and forged his own destiny.
    Unlike Maki who sealed her fate in the Jujutsu world by murdering her entire clan (best believe that due to her actions, someone will hunt her someday to restore the clans honor), Toji had no ties whatsoever....if only he believed it.

    I think it's kinda nuts that Toji thinks people who specialize in CURSED energy are the blessed ones. Nothing good has ever happened because of it, and the self hatred instilled into him by the Zenins was so strong that he couldn't realize the heavens themselves protected him from all that. I think it's nuts that despite all the abuse and suffering, Toji never went to annihilate the clan. Finally I think it's nuts that he was soooo close to healing from it with his wife and Megumi, but sank back into "the life" cus of unfortunate circumstances (or maybe his wife's death was part of Kenjaku's plans)

    • @kallum39
      @kallum39 3 месяца назад +1

      The thing about Toji is that he is basically unmanipulatable because of his status and heavenly connection, which is why sadly his Wifes death is really just a bad hand dealt by fate.

    I still find Hidden Inventory arc to be the best arc in the series. I just find that it’s way more fleshed out and impactful than any other arc. The other arcs after it feel depressing just to be depressing and they seem to not be as thought provoking. I’ve spent more time thinking about Geto’s, Gojo’s, and Toji’s perspectives than anything else in JJK all together. That’s just my opinion though

  • @VisheshBhaskar
    @VisheshBhaskar 4 месяца назад +9

    I would also like to propose that Toji Zenin is anologous to "The Monkey King", which is why he refers to himself as the monkey. The Monkey king also fights against the heavenly gods analogous with the Jujutsu Clans. Gojo Satoru vs Toji could also be seen as the fight between the monkey king and the Buddha, where the monkey king loses. Gojo being Buddha's analogue is an obvious from when he says "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I Alone Am The Honored One" which is what the Buddha is supposed to have said when he was born. Gojo also tries to reform society, similar to the Buddha. Welcoming any comments or additions!

    This is a great video and it fully shows Toji, especially when there are so many jokes that he doesn’t want to play child support to megumi. Also people actually believe him lying about forgetting his son. He was just trying to distance himself. I get they are jokes and they are funny but they aren’t genuine to his character as he is man who internalised a lot of his trauma. But he had retired from his rage and was about to become a father, but due the loss of his wife he rebounded. Also due his self loathing and lack of approval he believed he was an unfit father and to give him a better life to the family he hated, but deeply loved megumi.

    If you haven’t already you should do some videos on Children of the Sea, and not just the film. The manga is sooooo much deeper, my personal favorite is Anglade but there is so many directions and various depths you can look into that world.

    14:13 Toji is the perfect foil for Gojo, and they are both different and similar in so many interesting ways. One interesting contrast between Toji and Gojo is that Gojo is revered by the masses of Jujutsu society for his strength, but Toji's strength is only recognized by those who represent the very pinnacle of Jujutsu society. Noaya, a child prodigy with an inherited technique; Gojo, a limitless + six-eyes user; and Yuki, a special grade, are all in awe of Toji. Sukuna was also very intrigued by the heavenly restriction (wielded by Maki).

    Just one thing Fushiguro is the last name of his 2nd wife, not his first that gave birth to Megumi. Meaning to Toji, Fushiguro was simply a last name to cut himself and his son away from Zen in. No matter how much he wanted to escape Zen in, he couldnt just leave that behind. At least when Gojo came around, he might have thought hed have a better option to have his kid not be associate eith Zen in but also be a strong sorcerer

Aside from Nanami, Toji is my 2nd favorite character because from the first time I saw this man I knew he had A LOT of sh*t suppressed away for so many years to the point of being apathetic to everything in life...a broken man, under the weight of his own pride (and low self-worth), abused by the Zenin clan and abandoned his kids without a father to protect them.
