I would actually argue that the cable on the left is a good choice. Most people have their mouse on the right side and you don't want to be dealing with the keyboard cable and a mouse in the same vicinity. At least on the left, while farther away, it is uninterrupted (especially if you use an aftermarket non-right angle cable) and you could double it as a phone charging cable when not charging your keyboard.
I would still however go for it at the top of the keyboard like on my Drevo Calibur (that I bought after your recommendations). And as much as I embrace USB-C for everything, I am actually happy it is a Micro-B cable as I leave the cable permanently on my desk and use it to charge my Drevo Calibur keyboard, my Logitech MX Master 2S mouse and Xbox Controller which all use the Micro B standard. Obviously once I upgrade everything, USB-C will probably become the norm.
I would like a hub in the keyboard. Also having the cable on the top and the left would be cool.
I'm really glad I chose this set as my first mechanical keyboard. I knew nothing about MK's before. When I was researching about getting an external keyboard for my laptop, I was interested in the K3 first, but the sound put me off; it's like termites feasting inside my walls. I checked Keychron's other 75% lineup and found the K2 V2. I took a gamble in picking the brown switches, and it turns out perfect!
I'm a typist by trade and never knew typing could feel this satisfying. I get work done faster and feeling so much better in the process. I'm gonna use my K2 until it breaks!
Great review! They got the keyboard pretty much perfectly. It's looks beautiful, professional and has nice functionality too. But I don't like that they messed with the traditional 75% layout. The delete button should be in the top right corner. I wish it was possible to swap the light and the delete buttons.
Yup that delete and light button needs to be swapped. I'm still waiting for their software as 3rd party software can't remap that light key at the moment.
That brand has a great name. This name attracts like a magnet for buying ;-)

What compact keyboard would you recommend for gaming? My gf has small hands, so the standard Logitech etc. regular keyboards are a bit too big for her. So the key numbers could be 75%, but also the whole keyboard/buttons size should be 75% or less. Any keyboard you recommend? Happy to buy one through your links!
Most reviews of the Keychron K2 mentioned the thickness of the housing (especially in front) making a wrist rest a requirement for using this keyboard. Did they address that with V2.0?
The new version seems to have mostly addressed this issue. It's still a bit on the tall side, but if you don't normally use a wrist rest, you should still be fine without one.
I've been looking extensively at Keychron K2 V2.0.... I'm pretty sure I'll get one. But THIS is definitely THE best review on this subject. I myself don't know if I should get the version with the aluminum frame. Any advice? Keep up the excellent work.

In my opinion, the frame is 95% decorative; the one without the frame (the one I'm using) is already a handsome and solid brick. The choice is up to you.

Hello, I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer. How is the range on the Bluetooth? When you say you had minor connection issues was it missed key presses or just a small delay?
And about the auto-sleep, does it wake immediately and register the first press, or do you have to press a key to wake it up then it registers the next key?
Should I get the KeyChron K2 or the Glorious GMMK Compact? The extra keys are not important to me, but they both look amazing.

2. Better Typing Experience
3. Better Comfort
I mostly type mails, school work and sometimes play casual games, wireless is also good feature since I have a Samsung Tablet which I use for school too.
Are there any problems, is it still working?
I think that the usb port is at the left because their target public uses the keyboard with laptops. So, the usb at the top it might be obstructed by the laptop, and at the right by the mouse. Tbh I'm not erally sure xd
this keyboard is targeted to mac laptop users, so no surprise there.
Thanks for your review. Have few questions if you don't mind: 1) Thickness: I understand the K2V2 is a bit higher than the K2V1 and I plan to use it with my iPad Pro. Would you recommend a palm rest? Planning to use it for chat messages and some email. 2) While I am charging it (not plugged on a USB port of a desktop), can I still use it wirelessly or on Bluetooth? 3) Lastly, how's the bluetooth connection when it is being connected with the iPad/iOS? Any issues with the pairing, lag and stability of the connection? Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

1) If you don't normally use a palm rest, you should be alright but you may want to consider it if you plan to type a lot.
2) I tried the bluetooth with my android phone and Windows tablet PC. Both worked very well and I imagine would work fine with iOS devices as well.

just received K2v2 brown today. no matter in wired/bluetooth mode, the battery indicator was off at all time. and i really dont think there is a light bulb inside that hole when i looked very close...

I live in Ireland so I'm used to the UK layout too, they are very similar though what's missing on the US layout that makes it a deal-breaker?
@@Ryano966 for me as a developer I'm just way to used to the UK layout, symbols like the question mark, hashtag, pound sign, dollar sign, @ symbol and even the enter key are all keys I use on a daily.
The difficulty for me is I would have to constantly switch from my UK layout laptop keyboard to my desktop us layout keyboard causing me to make mistakes on one when I get used to the other and vice versa.
Otherwise I would've bought this keyboard, for the price it's more than worth it.

The one I reviewed was plastic, but there is an option for an aluminum shell.
