1st met Joe Marillo in 1978 @ The Crossroads on 5th & Market in downtown San Diego. Joe became a close friend & a wonderful teacher. Thanks a lot to JazzNote'89 for sharing this poignant tribute to Joe & his music!!! Memories....

I so-oooooo remember Cuvier street in La Jolla with Joe,and around the corner was Clays barbecue! Then a half block down Draper was Charles MacPherson.It was really a beautiful time to be young.I loved walking up the stairs of his garage apartment to take lessons,and he was such an inspiration to learn from.A deeply soulfull approach that always warms my heart to remember Joe.
